Remember that this is not only a ski-area but a ski-area owned and operated by a college. During the Winter you can buy food with your meal points. So as a wedding reception venue...it'll surprise you.
They block off the dining hall area-- the soda fountains and cafeteria style sneeze-guarded food areas-- and what remains is the huge windows, mammoth fireplace, and rough-hewn support beams holding up an enormously high roof...which they wrap in white lights for weddings. In short, they make it kind of gorgeous.
The bathrooms are downstairs and you will be forced to walk through the Dartmouth Ski Team hall of fame...and it's also a very clearly institutional restroom...but not everyone really cares about having a luxe restroom in their reception venue.
So...it cleans up well. There are both indoor and outdoor spaces. You're in the white mountains. In fall, the dry brown scars of ski trails ascend the hills around you and the skeletal ski lifts hang idle-- but once you overlook that, you realize that you're surrounded by some gorgeous scenery.
It's a small mountain, but cheap, particularly if you're a student, and close to Dartmouth's campus. I learned to ski on this mountain, and I still have happy memories of dozing off on the bus after a long day on the slopes and a quick meal in the lodge. The staff is friendly and the terrain is varied--a nice little family mountain with good facilities.
