Nothing in here particularly caught my attention but if you're looking for a dress they have a whole downstairs room of them. I've seen this show on What Not To Wear and it seems like even the participants of the show have the trouble that I have finding things I like.
None of their stuff really fits well for a curvy body (hello boobs!) but I did buy a magnetic belt which I have failed to wear. Impulse buy deluxe.

Darling is great. They are always really nice and friendly. It's the only place my boyfriend likes to shop with me because 1) he likes the clothes and 2) there are comfy places to sit all around the store. My favorite thing they sell are these silk and lace undies that are sexy and so comfortable. They are boyshorts, but I don't remember the name of the brand. The clothes are super cute and not obnoxiously overpriced like some boutiques in the West Village can be. This is definitely one of my favorite clothing stores!
I am going to have to disagree with the other reviewers and give this place one star. I bought a dress here in '07 which was alright.
However, I went back this past weekend, and when I walked in, the lady behind the counter proceeds to look me up and down. No greeting, no welcome, no "feel free to look around." Not even a smile. After looking me up and down, she goes back to talking to one of the other employees. Ummm, okay ... that's great.
I'm not one to feel uncomfortable anywhere, but this was a new umm .. experience .. for me. The atmosphere in there was so uncomfortable that I left in less than three minutes.
Their dresses and other pieces are fine, but needless to say, I'm not going back here again, and I'm letting everyone I know not to go as well.

My absolute new favorite place to spend lots of money!
I need to talk about the organization of the store a little because I think this might be one of the reasons I love the store so much.
The clothes are organized by color and the handbags are are located on a shelf above the clothes. This is exactly how my closet is organized, so I immediately felt at home.
The store smelled delicious, I think maybe the candle they had burning hypnotizes you so that you only look at how beautiful the clothes, bags adn jewelry are and you don't look at the price tag.
I picked up a bunch of stuff on the first level, then went downstairs for even more fun. The sales women there were amazing, pulling clothes for my friend and I. The clothes were pricy, but just so pretty. I spent an hour trying things on and prancing around the basement area.
Once I had justified spending 3 bills on a dress, I went back upstairs and played with all the jewelry, picking out a fabulous cocktail ring.
I left that place feeling like I had just left my future closet.... it will be an expensive closet but it will be beautiful, feminine, classy and of course, organized by color.

I absolutely adore this place!
It's everything that I love about boutiques, minus the high prices.
Wait! Okay, so yes, some of the things are slightly more than I'd like to pay, but more pieces than not are actually reasonably affordable. Plus, they have amazing accesories!
Love, love, love this place. Plus, it's right next to Shoegasm. And they have an amazing dress selection. Both casual, cocktail, and a few formals!

I walked in just before closing, described the vintage shoes for which I wanted to find a dress, and waltzed out 17 minutes later with the third one I tried on.
That's all you need to know, right?
The tiny space downstairs called "The Salon" packs many, many options sorted by color, and it's even easier to navigate with the courteous and very helpful proprietresses. The dresses are wearable, beautiful, and well-made with a slight skew toward the delicate.
I didn't spend much time upstairs, which seems like a typical west village boutique with overpriced (strangely enough the tops were in the same price range as the more formal dresses), albeit beautiful, tops and casual dresses.

If you're looking for a cute dress to wear to an event, this is a great place to come. The basement is fully devoted to dresses of all different formalities - you can find full length formal gowns or cute garden party dresses. The upstairs has a wide variety of clothing and they sell jewelry as well.
I always tell my friends to come here to look for dresses to wear to weddings, and when I went in the other day for that same purpose, the woman was really helpful and nice and went out of her way to pull dresses out of the back room for me to try on......the customer service here is phenomenal.

Love this cute little store. Lots of frilly frocks and sweet accessories. Downstairs is all the stuff on sale. Very nice salespeople. Also, they have really cute earrings. Got some dangy crystal earings and these pearl drop earrings (a girl in line at the drugstore told me they're baroque, she loved them, it was cute). Will say while most of the stuff is typical NY slim girl sizes, there are plenty to be had in larger sizes. The target demographic for these clothes though is not for the larger chested. During the winter, they have very cute wooly knit scarves and hats.

Great little place snuck away on Horatio Street. I bought a dress here in an emergency, and the staff was so helpful. There is a whole room of dresses downstairs with most of the dresses quite reasonably priced. There is also a range of vintage dresses and apparel. The only caveat is if you're pretty petite...most of the dresses are in the 4-10 range.
Upstairs, there are lots of cute jackets, fall dresses, and accessories. With the friendly help, fair prices, and quality unique clothes, Darling is a must if you are having a dress emergency or if you just need to update your wardrobe.
