I have no idea if this is real Greek or not but it's good and that's all I care about. A nice hot gyro with some fries on the side is a great lunch in my opinion. The staff are friendly, the food is served quickly and is hot and fresh, and there is a Cold Stone next store for something sweet after your meal.
I don't compare this to "real" greek food, but when I'm looking for something fast, that isn't slopped together and typical 'fast food" this is where I head. (also if you look at the nutritional info for most of it, it's pretty impressive since they don't use Trans Fats etc)
For example I only had 30 minutes on Friday for lunch, I was able to pop into daphne's and have a satisfying meal for under $10, that didn't make me feel like I had eaten a 99 cent heartache in a sack.
They also have china mist Ice Tea, and a decent little patio to sit on and sip while having a snack of some Fire Feta and the Veggie plate - although the gyro meat is tasty too!
I have gotten catering from them in the past as well, and a full meal (chicken, rice, salad, bread) is about $8 per person, so if you are catering on a budget (as I was that time) you can get something that doesn't taste like fast food for a lot less than you would elsewhere.
The one downside -- I stopped in on Friday , they have removed the dolmas from the menu. That makes me sad. They weren't the best ever, but they really weren't bad.
Am I supposed to fall in line with all the people who think this is GREEK? I am sorry, I don't like to bash, and I have to say that I do eat this when my honey brings it home... but it is like eating at Panda express, and saying you have had a real authentic chinese food experience. I LOVE Greek food! and I am glad to have a quick alternative to eat it in a pinch, but it is like eating a taco bell taco in between my homemade chicken tacos ( my hubby is mexican) I make killer chicken tacos. I guess we could say that these are all Apples to Oranges comparisons yeah?
Horrible. Bad fast food version of Greek. My salad was like a soup there was so much dressing. The counter guys were really nice, that's about all I can say good about this place.
We love Daphnes!
Today I ordered the Vegetarian Spanakopita Plate. It was really delicious and light! Yes light! It had hummus, falafels, warm pita bread, greek salad, this yellow thick rice, and spanakopitas. The plate was big and wonderful!
I really enjoyed my lunch here, and recommend this place to anyone who likes Greek food (and I knew lots of Greeks, and Greek restaurants in SF btw), and this place is great.
Go! Enjoy!
This place is delicious. Of course it's not authentic but it's a more-than-acceptable replacement.
Please don't think this is real Greek food. This is as Greek as McDonald's is American. If you are looking for cheap, "fast" (although suprisingly not THAT fast), pseudo Mediterranean style food, this place is fine. For a better alternative, try Anatolia's on Fourth Street.
Good fast food Greek. The food isn't fancy or special, but it is an excellent place where you can grab a gyro for lunch. It is kind of a chain, they have other locations around the bay, but this is the only one that I have been to. I would prefer it if the food was a little less greasy, but it is fast food. You can get a whole gyro lunch (includes a drink, gyro, salad and rice pilaf) for under $8.
wow!! First great italian and now great greek!?! I know there are lots of italian families in the Santa Rosa area, but I didn't realize greeks live here too. This little greek cafe located in a non-descript strip mall in the middle of town is surprisingly good! I had the gyros-chicken kabob plate which was excellent! Loses just one star for being in a strip mall and for having sour cream-based tsatziki sauce that is overly rich and heavy. But who would think that Santa Rosa has good greek food!! A very pleasant surprise....

My two favorite lunch places,Daphne's and Baja Fresh, are next door
to each other in this fairly new shopping center. Daphne's is a chain
but I honestly feel their Greek food is excellent. I love this cuisine,
but until Daphne's opened I was lucky if I ate Greek food once or
twice a year. Now I have it at least once a week. The food here is
delicious, and if you're in a hurry you can easily be in and out within
30 minutes, even at lunch time on a weekday.
I agree with the other review that the food is good. I had the gyros platter and it was great. I am only giving it 3 stars though because the feel is more like a fast food joint yet despite that our order took FOREVER to get out. Speed up the service and switch out your fast food tables for some nice booths and you could easily make it to 5.
