Daphne's is just a quick lunch spot, or pick up place for on the way home and don't feel like cooking. Not a date place. No atmosphere. The spicy chicken salad is the best and perfect for lunch.

More like 3 1/2, but I'm feeling generous and there was nothing WRONG with it.

Friendly service, which is always a big plus in my book.  Plus the place was very clean (tables, floors, counters, etc) and there was parking - always great in this neighborhood.

Definitely a place for fast food Greek rather than authentic Greek, but we were expecting that.  Gyros sandwich with fries was good, and came with a drink on the lunch special for about $7.50.  Good meat, fresh lettuce, wonderful pita.  The tzatziki (I know I spelled that wrong, but I think it's close) was a bit thick, almost like soft cream cheese, but it tasted good.  My only real complaint on the sandwich is that they did that obnoxious, "look how stuffed this sandwich is" thing that's really just accomplished by a)putting all the fillings toward the front part that's spilling out of the paper and b)stuffing the entire bottom half with lettuce and then laying some gyros meat on top.  Lesson learned - next time, easy on the lettuce.

All in all, an average experience.  I would go back, but I'm not hugely excited to.

My wife and I are new to the San Diego area, and have yet to find a good Greek place to go to. Not knowing this was a chain fast food place, we went to go check it out. The menu is pretty average (comparable to an Olgas, if you're from the MI area) and the prices are pretty reasonable as well. My wife got the gyro plate, and I got a gyro sandwich with fries. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was enough to quench our greek craving. My sandwich was more lettuce than it was lamb, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, I think we are going to continue our search for a Greek place, though in a pinch, this place isn't too bad.

Had to write a review because I wrote in another about this place...

I really disliked my experience here.  I got my order to go.  The restaurant looked clean, kind of like the Baja Fresh next door.  Like a Greek Panda Express.  Totally a fast food chain.  So I had nothing against the restaurant itself.

The food however, I couldn't quite tolerate.  I thought it was bland and even though the presentation was clean and nice and there was plenty.  Then I got sick.  When you get sick, you can't really forgive a place so easily.

That's my story!

I dine here for lunch weekly as it is close to my office. Usually I pick up food to go and am always surprised that the soup is still piping hot when I get back to my office after a 5 minute walk. The soup is chicken soup with lemon and rice and is AWESOME! It comes with warm pita which is delicious! The spicy chicken salad is very good, a large portion, and the spicy feta is flavorful. The gyro sandwich could have less lettuce and more meat, but is very tasty.

The counterstaff is very friendly and helpful!

I'm struggling with my stars for this place between two and three.  But for now, I'll settle at three for average at best.

Daphne's is everything you would expect from a fast food chain serving ethnic food, and nothing more.  Their menu offerings are tasty and edible, but my no means super authentic or superb.  Every time we go, it's usually only my hubby and I dining with another couple or so.  Although, I'm a bit surprised to know that I'm the first one to review it - it's located in such a high traffic spot I would have figured many others would have shared their reviews.  Parking around that area is tight, but they do have a small lot out back...

Being that it's usually a ghost town when we visit, the counter staff is always friendly and eager to take our orders.  They offer various combo plates to allow you to have a little bit of everything - and of course you can order a la carte.  The major downside, as I've noticed others have written about for their other locations, is the price.  It's pricey for the portions you receive and for an average place, that's a damn shame.

I would much rather take a short walk up to Texas St. and dine at Olympic Cafe, where the portions are greater, the food offering more authenticity sans sky-high prices.  But that's a whole other review in itself...

Too bad they don't have 2.5 stars because that's what this place deserves.  This is a place to get some not so authentic greek food.  While this place USED to be consistent, it's gone downhill as it ages, and my experiences here vary from awesome to terrible all in the same month.  The main reason I dine here is I get sick of the same food all the time, and this offers something different, and it's fast.  Or at least I thought it was, until I ate there last week for lunch after getting my haircut at the Supercuts next door, and it took them 40 minutes to bring my food to me!  If they do that again, I'm not coming back.

So, when the food is good, it's not bad, I really like the yellow rice, it's always fresh and delicious.  The salad is ok, they usually put way too much dressing on it, which makes it unbearable to eat.  The chicken is hit or miss.  Sometimes they overcook the top of it, giving it that nice chewy leather consistency.  The only way to save it at that point is to dip it generously into the little cup of tzhiki (sp?) sauce that they give you.  By the way, that sauce must have crack in it, it's sooooooooooo delicious, and by far the best part of my experience dining at Daphnes.  That and the pita bread, which is always warm and delicious.  As for the Gyro meat, not my cup of tea so I usually skip it and stick to the chicken, which makes for a nice healthy light lunch.   Pricewise, this place is ok for lunch, it's about $8-9 bucks with a drink, but for dinner it's more expensive then it needs to be due to them not offering the lunch specials.  Overall, I used to love this place but it's not my favorite any more.  I'm searching for a new favorite greek place, so if anyone has one, let me know.
