At the back of the Lahaina Cannery Mall they have a half dozen fast food stands; Greek, Hawaiian, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Mexican. Dante's is a new restaurant that imported a Neapolitan brick pizza oven and started serving Italian food. On a slow Super Bowl Sunday, we needed a few things from the local Safeway, but decided to have some lunch first. We usually get something from the Greek place, but once we saw this place and their long list of Italian specialties, we were sold.
My husband was tempted by the crab and shrimp ravioli, but I was sticking to an old standard, Veal Parmesan. Since this is a fast food place, the food is served in a plastic clamshell with plastic utensils. The seating is on picnic style benches. But the food was very good. My husband's meal came with a small mixed baby lettuce salad with basalmic vinegar dressing and a slice of olive oil grilled bread. I got the same salad and bread, plus a generous amount of tomato penne pasta. My veal was pretty standard, but my husband's ravioli was very good. This is not a place to make a special trip for, but considering the low standards of the other restaurants there, this one is very good. Next time we will have to try the pizza, it certainly looked and smelled good.
