So yummy, melt-in-your-mouth good!
Everything is served a la cart. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic date. I had the filet mignon and mushrooms. Delicious! The Creme Brulee' was tasty as well as the salad, wine, etc. Can't wait to go back!
If you want a great piece of meat, Daniel's Broiler can deliver.
We walked over in the pouring rain while staying on Lake Union recently, as it was the closest non-chain restaurant to our hotel. And after collapsing in the entryway like a couple of drowned rats, we realized that this *might* be a nicer restaurant than we were really prepared for.
However, upon entering it was clear that although Daniel's has cultivated an overall upscale ambiance, there were plenty of people casually dressed in jeans/tennis shoes to balance out the suits.
We were sat quickly, near a window with a great view of the lake (probably even more impressive when it's not pitch dark and pouring rain), and our server Caitlan G. took plenty of time to banter and talk to us about the menu -explaining the aging process for their meats, their methods of preparation (they finish each steak by charbroiling), the specials (they do prime rib, as well as seafood specials regularly), etc.
I like a menu that doesn't give you too many options, and Daniel's Broiler is a proper steakhouse in that regard. After starting with a cup of clam chowder and a (overdressed...bummer) spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, we both decided on the filet, which is available in two different sizes. Steaks are served with potato, and there are options of sides like asparagus, creamed spinach (with bacon!), broiled mushrooms, and steamed broccoli. There's also the option to sauce your meat with several choices - Bearnaise, peppercorn brandy, Maytag bleu. I personally tend to think this makes a mockery of a perfectly great piece of meat, but that's just my snootiness talking.
Overall, we had a thoroughly satisfying meal. A little pricier that we had intended for a quick dinner out (the 9 oz filet in itself will cost you $45), but I wasn't hungry again until the following afternoon. Caitlan was awesome from the moment we sat down until we walked out the door and back into the rain, and deserves some serious props.

Daniel's Broiler also hosts winemaker events, fine spirit events, late night happy hour, and a gorgeous piano bar in their lounge area.

I also have to admit, I loved the novelty of upon presentation of the filets, being asked to please cut into my steak to ensure that it was cooked to my liking. Complete with little seret-service-esque penlights being shone down upon each of our plates as we cut.
Tired of this food... eating at Daniel's on Lake Union should be enjoyed and savored but only a few times a year. It may be that I've just eaten here one too many times, but I feel that the food and service are quite inconsistent.
Came for Happy Hour with some family a couple of weeks ago and appetizers were good, not great nor satisfying. Service was average, attentive but insincere. The Filet Mingon Steak Strips were great in flavor, texture and presentation -- probably the best thing we had that evening. The Bacon Wrapped Scallops are always a must, however this time they tasted quite sweet. Still they were cooked to perfection being very tender and crisp on the edges. Oysters are oysters...fresh, but nothing special. Artichoke Hearts are still the same, Prawn cocktail was juicy and very fresh (huge, too!), Crab was salty. The Creme Brulee was pretty amazing, not the best I've had, but a sweet creamy end to the array of ok appetizers. Which brings me to the next part...
Thanksgiving dinner: Salmon was overcooked (dry), Pork Roast was juicy but not too flavorful, supposedly the Prime Rib and Turkey dinners were good especially with the gravy. Potatoes, halved reds or mashed, were nothing special, not even very good. Broccolini was flavorful, fresh and cooked perfectly. For dessert-- Creme Brulee was mediocre with rubbery (is that a word?) texture. As for presentation those at my table received the nice caramel drizzle on the plate, garnished by strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. But not me :( I only got one blackberry and blueberries and the caramel was only drizzled under the dish to make it stick on the plate. I didn't even finish it, it was that unappetizing, and I LOVE dessert and even made room for it. Olympic Mountain Ice Cream? no thank you. At least the service was awesome. Ask for a lemon, if they are good, they'll give you two :)
If your steak is over/undercooked, be honest with them. They want their customers to be happy.

**Review solely based on Happy Hour**
This is one of my favorite happy hours in Seattle. You feel classy just walking in the place! Their HH is everyday from 4-6:30 and then again from 9-11? I think. They offer 50% off their appetizers and glasses of wine, cheaper well drinks and their famous martinis for 7$. Here is what we had:
Bacon wrapped scallops - I mean can you really go wrong with something wrapped in bacon?? The scallops are always perfectly cooked, never over done.
Steak bites - tender teriyaki steak bites, almost melt in your mouth
Spicy Shrimp - not too spicy, but also well cooked
Seared Ahi Tuna - perfectly seared
The portions are large enough to where two of us shared these 4 items for dinner. Our "dinner" with 2 drinks each, tax and tip came to roughly 35$ per person, which I am more than willing to pay for the ambiance and quality of the food.
Decent steak, love the garlic mash potatoes.
Their Valrhona Chocolate Cake...to die for!
If you're looking for a high-quality steak, Daniel's should be on your shortlist. For more than a year while I ran a financial fund, my partners and I would eat at this restaurant about three times a week. Our food was always exemplary, no matter what we tried. However, over time, the service got worse and worse - it became too casual. While we were regulars, it didn't excuse the unannounced long waits (despite calling in reservations ahead of time) and the very lackadaisical service from some of the waitstaff.
We ended up taking most of our business to The Waterfront Grill, who treated us very well as regular customers - even comping us a full $1000 meal when we had a bad experience there. Daniel's has only comped us an appetizer once, despite spending close to $1000/week there on food and alcohol.
As a first-time visitor, you'll probably enjoy the food and the service - even if it tends to get loud in there due to the piano in the lounge. Give it a shot, but if you're looking for a high-quality experience, I recommend The Waterfront Grill instead.
Not worth the price.
I know their specialty is a charred crust, but my ribeye was all carbon. I didn't want to make them take it back - what was I going to say? "I'm sorry, you cooked this exactly as you intended to cook it." The side of mashed potatoes was just a cloud of starch. Yukon potatoes with nothing in it except salt and pepper. The asparaguses were HUGE! I learned later that my boyfriend does not like asparagus and he doesn't appreciate paying ten dollars for a plate no matter how big they are.
Good view of the water, friendly staff, but I'd rather eat my dad's steak.
Daniel's is a very classy joint (though I do remember when it was the slightly less illustrious Benjamin's way back when). Almost everything on the menu is outstanding, though it will cost you a pretty penny. That is, unless you go for happy hour from 4 - 6:30. All aps are half off and they have a few drink specials as well. So if you don't feel like shelling out $60 for a prime ribeye, then HH is for you!
I was in love with the spicy shrimp in Louisiana style sauce, the bacon wrapped seared scallops, and the teriyaki beef tips. Our waitress was not only competent, quick, and friendly, but easy on the eyes to boot. (I'm pretty sure the gals in the front of the house have to exceed a looks threshold of about 8 out or 10 to get hired. Woo hoo for not having to look at ugly people when you eat!)
I wasn't thrilled with the fried artichoke hearts in bland hollandaise sauce, nor was I terribly impressed with the fried calamari with lemon aioli. But everything else was terrific.
I've been to Daniel's previously for both dinner and happy hour / appetizers. Both are definite thumbs up in my book and have never had a bad experience here. I would give it a 4.5, if possible.
This time around we decided to do It up with style and have dinner to celebrate someone's birthday a few days ago. MMMM, MMMM, good.
From previous experience, I would definitely suggest the prime filet mignon steak strips for appetizers that are glazed with teriyaki sauce... Mouth watering and something I almost always order if I'm not having a full dinner, which usually means a steak for dinner. Sometimes you can have too much meat.
Since we were there for dinner, I had the filet mignon with blue cheese on the side, a baked potato fully loaded and for a side we shared broccoli that comes with garlic hollandaise. YUM!
If you're going to eat this way... you might as well throw caution to the wind when it comes to what is "healthy" / better for you.
For dessert, I would suggest the valrhona chocolate cake that is served with a warm, molten center and vanilla ice cream. I don't care where I am, but if they serve this as a dessert, it's about a 90% chance that I will get this. This one was pretty good...
Service was amazing and even though they were pretty busy, we never felt as if we needed to call someone over to ask for something because either the waiter or the bus boy came around to check in on us on a normal basis, but it wasn't too much that you felt suffocated... AND of course, the manager came over to confirm that all was ok. If I recall correctly, this is a normal occurrence.
The added bonus of eating here... the view of Lake Union is amazing and you can watch the float planes taking off and landing.
If you've never been, definitely worth giving a try... If you've been, you know to go back.
I have never actually made it to the dining room, so this review is for the bar. This place is my headquarters when I am left to my own devices in Seattle. I sit at the bar and order appetizers and beer. The prawn cocktail is prodigous....a yummy meal in itself. The seared ahi is up there with the best I have ever had.
Went here on Friday with an old Army buddy before going out to meet another group later on. Daniel's is a nice, semi-upscale steakhouse that is lucky enough to have a marina view area for dining. It was one of the few things that justified it's prices as we were lucky enough to be seated outside for our meal.
I was absolutely saddened by the fact that my server did not get there fast enough for us to order the prime rib...after ordering it, I was told that the portions were gone and we had to "settle" for a rib-eye instead. I was a tad alarmed that the waiters requested we cut into our steaks in front of them - no other restaurant that I know of does this out of confidence that they cook their meats right the first time. Of course, mine was overcooked so I sent it back for a more rare piece of steak.
The food was good - nothing to sing about but at the same time it wasn't anything for me to complain about either. I was a tad miffed that after being offered steamed broccoli with my meal instead of the potato that I was charged for the hollandaise sauce (umm...the menu says they come together) but I let it go and decided it wasn't worth fighting about - besides, after the bloody marys, cheese, and shrimp just two hours prior, I felt fuller than tick that had just fallen off of a dog and wasn't ready to do anything that required anything above 1 joule of energy.
The happy hour looks promising and luckily we were there late enough to have my martinis count under those prices. Maybe I'll come back another time.
*I am stingy with the 5* and this gets one
*Had a porterhouse/peppercorn and the beef cramps were SO good
*Truffle fries were insane as always
This is the place to go for a gourmet steak with a classic upscale atmosphere. The location and view is beautiful.
The steak is cooked to perfection and the prawns are huge.
This is corny, but I really enjoyed watching the waiter pick up crumbs with the nifty crumb picker upper. How cool is that? Seriously though the service is exceptional.
Not a place where I would take a whole family but it is a nice place to go out with a significant other or meet a few girlfriends for happy hour.
USDA Prime, with world's best broilers! The steaks are the best anywhere. The filet mignon that melts in my mouth makes this place a five star.
I like the Lake Union and Bellevue Place locations.
Yes, it's pricey, but then what premium steak house isn't? I go on business events or for special times with family or friends. If you can, get the private back room at the Bellevue Place restaurant.
The happy hour menu is great. The steak strips, popcorn shrimp, and seared ahi tuna are some of my favorites. Oh, the piano music with assortment of Billy Joe, Neil Diamond songs can be fun or alloying, depending on how much you are drinking.
Take your wife or girlfriend to impress as long as they are not vegetarian.
As an out-of-towner who visits regularly for work, I find myself coming to Daniel's each time I'm in town. Staying directly across the street doesn't hurt, either.
This is a fantastic steakhouse from start to finish. Every aspect I have eaten or drank has been up to high standards, the service is very good and the atmosphere (especially on a nice day) is great. I've eaten once in the bar wearing jeans and a polo shirt (fine) and once in the main dining room wearing a suit and having my wine paired with my meal by the manager/sommelier (sp?). Also fine. Great wine list, too.
This is pretty much everything you'd expect from a first-class joint, and the price reflects that. Thank you (company un-named) for bankrolling two wonderful dinners there!
Sometimes I go to Daniel's for lunch. This is a really great upscale option for lunch.
I've had a variety of their steaks (the petit filet mignon, the rib-eye, prime rib), soups (the clam chowder and lobster bisque), and the prime rib sandwich.
The steaks are in the $20-$30 range on the lunch menu, and well worth it. I always love how they come out and ask you to cut into the steak to make sure it's done the way you like it.
I also appreciate that they use very high quality prime steaks, and that their "cooking" system is true -- medium rare really IS medium rare, meaning very pink in the middle, with a crust on the outside. But most places tend to overcook their steaks, so if you don't like pink, you might consider ordering medium well instead.
But you really don't need to. If a steak is high quality (although they are all still corn fed, FYI), the rarer quality of the steak brings out it's flavor, when mixed with the crusty outside. It's truly the way I enjoy my steak, personally, but not be everyone's taste.
Last time I was here, I had the Prime Rib sandwich, and clam chowder. The Lobster bisque is also really good, but very pureed. Still, it has strong lobster flavor. The clam chowder is much more what you'd expect from a very good homemade chowder. I just wish they left more larger clam pieces, because that's good stuff. But it's delicious soup.
The Prime Rib is stacked high with truly medium rare prime rib, barely cooked, and very pink, but by no means "bloody". It's just really good meat, with little accoutrement, as a good prime rib should be -- simple and rare-ish, so that you can enjoy the flavor of the meat.
Meat-wise, this is the best prime rib French dip you'll find in Seattle.
They also have a happy hour that looks just excellent, but I've never done it. Half-priced appetizers and drink deals, that if true to what I know of Daniels, would be a terrific deal, indeed. I feel it's worth mentioning -- it just doesn't fit into my schedule for happy hour too well.
The only reason I give it less than five stars is because one time I got sick on their Bouillabaisse. I know this is a hard dish to prepare properly, but it happened here. Still, I am a fan of Daniel's for everything else.
One more warning, the parking lot is often full, and the valets are there, like lion guards, ready to tell you you parked in the wrong place, so that they can get your money. It's kind of annoying to me, honestly, but you can find alternative parking -- don't need to buy into their warnings.
PROS: Great service, great steaks, and great for lunch. Great view, too.
CONS: Beware the bouillabaisse.
So while the Mom's and Pop's were visiting, my mom begged for prime rib. I had no idea where to go except for this place by my house. I had heard that it was expensive, but the Mom's didn't care. She just wanted her meat after days of fish. So as soon as we walked in and we were immediately greeted by the hostess, I knew this was going to be exactly what we were looking for and definitely worth it.
Daniel's Broiler is humongous in size and it fittingly sits over Lake Union amongst boats and other restaurants that crowd the lakeline. All of the staff is polite and proper. Their attire is all black for the hosts and white-collared shirts and black slacks for the waiters. They were very patient with us in the beginning while we were waiting in the foyer in front of the kitchen. We couldn't decide whether or not to stay because they had actually run out of prime rib. When we finally made out decision, they seated us at the window overlooking the lake while the sun was beautifully-setting behind the mountains, yielding its array of colors as it dips below the horizon. The restaurant is dimly-lit to accentuate the sunset and the cherry-oak tables and walls just adds to the classiness of this restaurant. Oh and I have to say even though we were supposedly underdressed, they still accepted us and treated us okay.
Since we had voracious appetites by this time, we immediately ordered our dishes:
A side of Lobster Mashed Potatoes ($10.95): Seriously though that this was just going to be a small bowl of mashed potatoes with some tiny bits of Lobster. Now way. Very worth the price. It is served in a 10-inch oblong dish and it is filled with potatoes. It is very butter and smooth in texture. Most importantly, they were generous with the lobster. There must have been like 5 pieces in every bite.
Prime Rib Eye 14 oz. ($39.95): MMMM!!! It was soooo good!! I could've licked the plate. Both my dad and I devoured the rib eye and ordered it medium rare. They cooked it perfectly. Nicely-seared on the outside and pink, juicy, and moist on the inside. They cook it with a lot of butter and some pepper. I really didn't even need any steak sauce because it was soooo good and flavorful. Also, I know that the steak is good because my dad is very particular with his food and he only finishes dishes that tastes good all by himself.
Filet Mignon ($44.95): Absolutely tender and flavorful even though my mom ordered it well-done and without any form of salt or butter. I was surprised and so was my mom. This petite little woman ate a whole 9oz of it. She said that it was the best that she had ever had in her 70+ years of life.
Valrhona Chocolate Cake ($10.95): Very worth the money. Humongous in size. Served nice and warm with vanilla ice cream on top. Very soft and moist.
Glass of Malbec= 9.00 glass of merlot= 7.50. Both of these wines went well with the prime rib eye.
Each steak had an option of one side of a whole baked potato, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables. My mom and I had the broccoli which was tender and crispy enough and lightly seasoned. Meanwhile, my dad had the baked potato which was vey soft and moist and they send the waiter with a tray of toppings to choose from including butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, and bacon.
They didn't rush us and when they served the steaks to us, they always cut the steak down the middle so you can check to see if they cooke dit perfectly and too your liking. I definitely want to return here again to try happy hour starting at 9pm and to sit on the outdoor deck on the lake. This was an overall superb experience.
I've been to Daniel's for dinner three times, and each time I've had one of the best dining experiences, ever - no exaggeration. The steaks are amazing, certainly, and the prime rib is both very well cooked and generously portioned, but it's the service that truly puts Daniel's above and beyond. I don't know what their hiring & training process looks like, but the service was absolutely perfect. The waiters are the exact right amount of friendly, patient, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I had three different waiters and each exemplified these qualities. Our meal was well paced, with prompt, attentive drink service.
The atmosphere is also worth noting: the booths feel very isolated, even those next to the walkway near the line. The lighting is good, and the view during the day is fantastic.
Love Steak? Then Get In Here!!
With the exception of the Metropolitan Grill, Daniel's Broiler is THE place to eat dead cow...
All beef is Prime graded, a very rare grade to find. Their Prime Rib comes out on such a huge plate, it takes the waiter two hands to bring it over to the table, but it's never dry or overcooked...
It's very dark inside the main eating area, and I love that. You can't see, or hear that matter, the other diners around you, so if you are there with someone special, it makes it seem like you are the only people in the dining room.
Wine list is impressive, but massively over-priced...Stick to cocktails or wines by the glass, and your bill shouldn't be over $300.
Daniel's is a great place for steak, and if you are ever curious why steak here costs $60 and $10 at The Outback, just come in and take ONE bite...You will never go back!!!
a horrible impersonation of a real steakhouse. The steak was fatty, all food sub-par. The customers were all over 65. i guess a great place for senior citizens
Was invited here lastnight for a private dinner in a very nice room downstairs on the waterfront. The room was reserved, and as we walked in were greeted by our personal waitstaff who took our drink orders and walked around with many fun yummy delights before dinner.
We then sat down to a lovely prepared menu that had a yummy ceasar salad, then the selection was a Filet Mignon, Salmon, and Lamb chops...and they had some Prime Rib left....SOLD. I had the Prime Rib that was accompanied by the best potatoes and steemed brocolli.
Desert was 3 huge strawberries, dipped in chocolate and injected with Gran Marnier..they were oh so yummy.
The waitstaff was wonderful and attentive. My wine glass was never half full....I was happy! I highly recommend....the steaks are great!
my husband and I have been going to Daniel's for years for special occasion stuff.....we even got engaged at this location! I've been to all three locations and they're all great, it's just that this one is closest to where we live so we probably go more often.
I love steak. I love meat. I love potatoes. I love bread and buttah. I love whiskey sours. I love a dark restaurant that looks like something out of a gangster movie. I love great service. I love how, when we make our reservations using Open Table, they call us by name when we arrive.
Daniel's has all of these things. they know how to cook a steak and they're very attentive to make sure it was done just right.
what else is there to say? eat at Daniel's.
Coffee is for closers?
Hell, no. Daniel's is for closers.
There's not a great deal to be said here. You're gonna spend $50 on a steak. That steak is gonna be completely effing great. The service? Impeccable.
Look... this place valet parks everybody, and keeps the Porsche, the Lotus, and the Range Rover up front to impress you. Does that make them guilty of catering to a bunch of pretentious bastards? Probably. Does it matter if all you want is a great steak? Probably not.
The first real steak I ever had at a restaurant, was at the Bellevue Daniel's Broiler location. I've been a red meat lover and a fan of Daniel's Broiler ever since. This Seattle location is the only other one I've been to, and the food and service here is in-line with Bellevue's. I hear they have a great happy hour too, but for some reason I have yet to check that out. Impeccable service, where a couple waiters will deliver your steak together. One waiter shines a penlight on the steak while the other cuts into it, then they ask for your approval of how it's prepared. If it isn't to your liking (i.e. too bloody or overcooked), they'll gladly prepare you another. You gotta love that drive for perfection!
What a nice way to start a night out with friends, Daniel's Broiler. This place isn't for the cheapies out there. Don't try to get away with a deal, but may a down payment on used car...
We started in the bar area. I ordered a glass of Malbec, can't remember exactly which one sorry, but it is the only one by the glass on the menu presently. It was soooo delish! A nice buttery Malbec with impeccable spice. yum!!
Our friends arrived and we were seated at a round table. 5 of us. We ordered the Beef Steak Tomato Salad, Filet (medium rare), and King Crab legs. All were just awesome!! It was a hearty meal that had me bursting at the seams. The server was friendly and professional and the mood lighting was perfect for a romantic date.
Definitely a keeper.
Delicious.
Perfect Steak.
Worth the price.
Beautiful view.
Great service.
We had a really good experience.
highly recommended to all you steak lovers!
I went there recently on a date, and I had not been there in about 2years. It was completely amazing!!! Everything is a la cart, beautiful atmosphere, for a romantic and intimate setting. I love to dress up!! absolutely the best!! you must dress up!! great collars shirt nice slacks for guys, girls its totally cocktail dress time. My food, amzing!!! I had a PRIME FILET MIGNON 9 oz. and to compliement broiled mushrooms, with a glass of chardonny. Great place to take a date, or signicant other!!! LOVE IT!!!
My favorite place for a steak.
They are excellent at everything. Everything. So very consistent.
Their wine list is way overpriced otherwise they'd get 5 stars.
Food is incredible.
*UPDATE* As of recent, Martin Ross no longer plays here. :(* That's what made Daniel's worth going to besides the steak.
I still give it 4 stars....everything was fabulous yet again, but this time around we ordered food. So, here's the scoop:
We started out with crab legs in dijon mustard sauce and the cheese platter- sooooo yummy but sooooo small. Might as well just splurge and get an entree....but wait! You're stomach will be hurting half-way through an entree- the helpings are HUGE! I had the chicken & potatoes. I couldn't even eat half of it, took the rest home for lunch the next day. James had another appetizer- some sandwich with fries- now that seemed just about right.
Aside from that, drinks are STRONG and expensive, but the staff and ambience are SO AWESOME. For the BEST TIME EVER, go Tues-Sat night from 7-Midnight. That's when Martin Ross is playing. He's incredible at the vocals/piano and he's hilarious. It's funny that most of the patrons aren't paying attention to him, so he'll adlib to try to get their attention.
Oh it's a great place to people-watch. From girls who can't tuck in their undie tag, to older ugly businessmen with what you would think are non-booty calls?....cuz they all didn't leave together....to a rocker dude hanging out at the bar....good times!

The Broiler rocks like the baseline on Queen's "We Will Rock You" We arrived at the twinkling dawn of HH to discover delectable plates of appetizers flying to tables. Wines, martinis, and beers seemed to be on an endless 1/2 price parade atop the waitresses trays! From the outset I knew the food and drinks were promising....and they were!
Broiler 411
The lounge: Very comfortable. The bar has good energy and a comfortable feel. Tables of varying sizes can accommodate a lovely couple to large rounds that fit 8 or so in your party. A nice bar with friendly service is also available if flying solo or if out with a couple of your mates. There's also a sunny patio to get some rays and take in the Lake Union maritime scene.
Food:
Bacon Wrapped Scallops w/ Sambuca butter sauce - These grilled beauties are simply that, pretty to look at. They fell way short on taste.
Seared Ahi Tuna w/ Avocado, Wasabi, ponzu vinaigrette - I liked this dish. Refreshing, tasty, a real treat with some promise for the palette. Not the best but definitely worth giving this one a go.
Filet Mignon Steak Sandwich w/ Roasted peppers, caramelized
onions, Gruyere cheese - Really delicious! It works well and the taste was surprisingly good. The meat-eater in you will appreciate this goodness!
Drinks:
Manhattan - Again, this is one of my favorites and they did it right!! The drink separates the men from the boys.
Wine - both white and red. 1/2 price! She had a nice Pinot Grigio and I had a Meritage.
Overall, the food and the drinks leave you with a great feeling. The feeling that you will be back, around 4:30pm, drinks in hand with the baseline rocking, and sharing good times.
I have been here for dinner and happy hour, pretty good. Steak at the Met is better I think, but the ambiance here makes for a better date atmosphere.
Dinner with the boys - The Met.
Dinner with the girl - Daniel's.
I had lunch for business here. WE were seated in the domelike room that overlooks the water. Beautiful scenery, and wonderful service, but it was a sunny day, and I felt like I was sitting in a greenhouse. It was HOT!
I would say, for prices and what they wish to provide in style, air conditioning would seem a practical investment.
Been holding this review off cuz didn't want to piss off my friends, so did a revisit went back again recenly to celebrate my BDay! Gotta say I remembered it much prettier the first time around, but I was almost
Service = head of exceptional service, but my waiter were just sort of going through the motions, reservation weren't even that late :(
Ambiance = I seriously remembering it being more dramatic, love the bar area but the dinning was ok, got stuck next to an corp party :(
Food = 1. Beef steak tomato with onion and goat cheese = Sweet onion was a bit overwhelming, a bit offensive to the lady so sharing is caring!
2. Scallop wrapped Bacon = For 5 buck each these puppies better be perfect, and it was!
3. Bone in Filet = Was Perfect! make me wonder why I should even bother with porterhouse anymore!
Crowd = Got stuck with a corp party :( not a good way to enjoy my meal
Price = $$$$
Favorite = Sort of a sucker for Piano bars, great view!
Worst = Neighboring party
Final Say = Make your reservation early and be demanding with your table
Daniel's embodies all that is a high-end steakhouse. From the service to the drink selection to the food menu, quality is their mantra.
I selected the bone-in fillet as my main course and was a little disappointed with the texture but in the end was very pleased overall with the taste and quality.
As you'd expect Daniel's is on the pricey side and falls into the 'spare no expense' dining category. A 4 person meal with a decent bottle of wine and a small app came to $500 with tip. This dining establishment is all about the full experience.
Overall Daniel's got a 4 instead of a 5 because I felt that the 'value' factor was missing even taking into account this level of dining.
DCP Suggestions:
Try Daniel's happy hour -- they've got great appetizers and a superb drink selection at a reasonable price (5 star experience in my book). Try the streak bites!
Here thar be prime steaks. Corn fed midwestern type beef, lamb, veal, lobster, and fish.
A total five-star bar also lurks within, which should be thought of as worthy of a visit in it's own right.
Considering this is shooting for a five star establishment, it doesn't quite make that level. The food is of high quality, but the service isn't up to the level you would expect from this tier of menu. My medium rare was way overcooked, for example. This just isn't something that should happen at a place like this.
Come for happy hour or for a business junket.
Here's the deal- this is a steakhouse, and I'm going to review it as such. Perhaps it deserves a lesser rating as a 'nice restaurant', but I'm not going to split hairs.
I've been going to El Gaucho and The Met for years whenever I wanted a good steak. Neither disappoints. I always thought Daniel's was a cut-rate version of those restaurants. Not so (in the food department).
This was hands-down the best steak I've ever had. All the appetizers and desserts were also stellar, with the exception of the creme brulee (just take it off the menu if you don't like to make it, guys). The food was superb, and that's all I can say about this. You know what you're expecting- steak and classic steakhouse fare, along with some of the highest prices in town.
Now, as for a nice restaurant to take someone, the atmosphere isn't really any nicer than an Ivar's Salmon House, but the service was pretty good. Overall, I reiterate, this is 5-star food, but maybe not a 5-star restaurant. Take that for what you will, but give the steak a shot here sometime!
The Best happy hour menu in the world.
I have eaten in 21 countries and have had thousands of meals out at hundreds of restaurants.
This place has lobster salad for 6.5 euro. That's 5 pound, British homie..
Even if you make minimum wage, and I don't mean any offense if you do, you can feast on fresh crab legs, a french dip steak sandwich, and a pint in exchange for a couple hours of work.
Word!
The X
Daniels is by far the best steakhouse in Seattle. Just thinking about their steaks makes me drool. The service is sublime and they have an amazing wine list. I don't know what they use for their coffee but it is DE-licious! Great atmosphere - make a reservation if you want a water view - you won't regret it. Check out the bar for happy hour specials on appetizers and if you are in a cheesy mood, hang out and listen to the piano player and throw bread in his jar.
Daniels is a bit spendy but worth every last penny.
EXCELLENT! I had the twin filets oscar style (crab and asparagus) boy had the 9oz filet...apple tart and fried artichoke hearts to round it all out...price tag was about $175...we just drank water..but wine started at about $15 a glass...also great service
A steakhouse is not my first choice when going out to a nice dinner. However, every couple of months I love to have a nice steak and Daniel's is my preferred place for beef. USDA prime, corn fed beef is not the healthiest thing for you to eat (look it up) none-the-less it tastes pretty darn good.
Daniel's service is always exceptional, there is also always top quality seafood as an alternative or compliment to your steak. Sides and appetizers are great. Nice wine list and knowledgeable stewards to help. Atmosphere in my opinion, is just right and it's always nice to have a water view. My new york steak last week was cooked perfectly, oysters were delicious as was the salad. We started with a CDP and the steward recommended a very nice WA State Syrah as a 2nd bottle for comparison. Daniel's is pricey but no more so than the other well known steakhouses in town. Tip: happy hour has killer appetizer deals.
