Went here for lunch with a group from work a couple weeks ago with middling expectations. Came away thoroughly impressed.
The first great thing about Daniel's is the location. It's just fun to eat on the umpteenth floor, at any time of day, in any weather. Can't even imagine how great the setting would be with a proper sunset or raging thunderstorm to watch. Yeah, you always pay for a location like this one, but you look for value in return and budget accordingly. Daniel's pulls its weight for the prices they charge and it's a worthy annual dinner spot. You'd have to be kind of loaded to eat here more than once a year though.
In addition to the great location, the setting is great. Lots of separate dining rooms, tables big and small. Lots of dark wood everywhere. Huge cabernet glasses on every table when you get there, whether the table is sat or not. Lots of flashy bottles in the wine case opposite the host station...presumably never to be bought, given that they're sitting there at the mercy of the lights and temperature fluctuation. But there are bottles from long before Daniel's opened, and lots of great old NW labels, too--really shows some enthusiasm for good wine.
They're a bit self-promotional, with lots of reviews clipped and framed. Seems a bit tacky for a restaurant at this price point, especially given that all of them are from Seattle-area media. They also sell their "own" steak knives, big heavy wood-handled serrated monsters with "Daniel's" burned into the handles. Could live without those both at the table and the gift shop, but that's a tiny quibble.
The staff is the classic expense account steak and chop house staff: statuesque and beautiful blonde hostesses, energetic table staff, including some obvious lifelong professional servers. Staff was well trained, prompt, and thorough. Not quite as engaging or funny as some servers elsewhere, but they did their jobs perfectly, so no room for real complaints here.
My boss eats here a couple times a year. His wife is for some reason in the habit of ordering steaks well done. They're never been able to get this right on the first try, but they've always comped her meal when she has been unhappy. Since they never fail to graciously make it right, and since I'm not writing steakhouse reviews for people who order steaks well-done, I'm counting this as a credit for them and not a demerit.
Menu was very focused, the usual suspects for a steak place. A few vegetarian options if you look sharp about it. The teriyaki steak bites, which are evidently on the happy hour menu, were pretty spectacular. We had the appetizer smorgasbord plate, and these shown far above the rest. Had the Steak Daniel for lunch, which was a wonderful piece of meat with perfect asparagus and mashed potatoes alongside.
There's everything to like about this place if you think of Bellevue in the context of fine dining at dinnertime.
Daniel's Broiler used to be one of the most reliable, good and enjoyable places to go for a nice, fancy-ish dinner in Bellevue. Sadly, either the economic times, or just a lack of focus, have taken away the sheen of reliable quality, and made Daniel's into something that would compare with Ruth's Chris, on a good day.
The front desk staff on our arrival was.. ok. Not fantastic, but not rude, and quickly took our names for our reservation. We decided to wait til the rest of our party arrived to sit. The host who seated us was very polite and timely, and seated us at one of my favorite tables in the restaurant. This is when things really started to go downhill.
Our actual waiter was not rude, but was one of the least observant, weirdest (not in a good way) servers I've ever had at a high end establishment. Disjointed manner, absolutely no table-side grace or humour, and numerous mistakes throughout the meal. I'll get to that.
The pluses:
- The popcorn shrimp remain one of the best appetizers of any Bellevue restaurant. It did not disappoint.
- Bar drinks remain tasty, if a little lighter on the alcohol than they used to.
- It's still a beautiful establishment with an incredible view.
- Steaks for all six of us were cooked to order, exactly to the right state of doneness.
The negatives:
- Steak was incredibly fatty (not in a good way - gristle, not marbling).
- Waiter managed to bang the bottle of Quilceda Creek against a wine glass within about two seconds of decanting it, breaking the glass.
- Waiter never actually asked who was drinking wine and who would like wine glasses.
- I love butter, but the amount of butter that was slathered all over everything, steak, veggies, etc, actually managed to detract from the meal. It takes a lot of butter to turn me off, but they managed it.
- Crab in the Oscar topping for my steak smelled fishy. Like a wharf fishy. Eww. That's disgusting.
- The cream pitcher with coffee at dessert had a completely busted off handle, with jagged edges and clearly should have been removed from circulation. Neither the person who prepped the "coffee condiments" plate, or our server managed to notice this.
Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. I'm being incredibly generous with a 2 star, as they have always been solid in the past, but as it was a Friday night and they should have had their A-game on, I'm just incredibly let down. This experience was a 1 star experience for the amount of money you spend to dine at Daniel's. The extra star is my "please get your **** together, Schwartz Brothers" for past good experiences. It will take a lot to convince me to spend my money there again, or anyone else's for that matter.
This place is a very traditional steak house. The dinner was just okay. For the price, I would rather dine at a place with a nicer atmosphere (e.g. El Gaucho, Metropolitan Grill, etc.).
Back in the day, this place was a cougar hangout... but now that Bellevue has overgone a major redevelopment, there are plenty of cooler bars to hit up... so i'm sure that all the cougars have migrated over to the new plaza.
Very good steaks. I would put Daniel's above Ruth's Chris but below Metropolitan Grill... I've had their chicken before too and it's pretty good!
This is one of the best steakhouses I have
ever been to. My expectations were minimal but left
a big fan. I love the easy parking and access as well.
Will definitely return to try their happy hour.
OM NOM NOM!!! (Happy hour review only)
I love the happy hour here!!! It's soooo delicious.
Fellow Yelpers were right. THE PRIME FILET MIGNON STEAK STRIPS ARE SO AWESOME. The meat was so tender and juicy and I just wanted a whole steak instead of strips. Seriously, so juicy. The teriyaki sauce was tasty as well. If I could, I would've taken that sauce home and poured it over a nice bowl of white rice or something. But that's way embarassing to take the sauce to-go... tempting though. Very tempting.
My friend and I also ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops. My golly these were just as amazing! There were three huge pieces of scallops and it was came on top of some small pieces of toasted bread. I don't know what the glaze was but wow it was so good!! It tasted kind of cheesy but kind of not, I'm not quite sure how to describe that flavor. I wanted MORE but they were pricey, of course.
I was definitely impressed by their quality of service and food. Our server was so sweet and she reminded me a lot of Jordana Brewster (from Fast and the Furious). All of the servers were really gorgeous... come to think of it. And I pointed out to my friend that I really liked their all black outfits. Random, I know.
But anyway, the food is totally worth the money because you get what you pay. Quality service and the best of the best in steak and seafood. Woohoo!
Great food, but you get what you pay for.
This is a typical upscale steak joint: great food, tender and juicy steaks, awesome service, fancy, lots of dark wood accents, piano bar, nice view of the region, old white people drinking expensive wine, etc.
I never think about Daniel's as an option when I go out. I only went here because I couldn't get a reservation for six anywhere else on short notice. But I wish I came here more often. It's a quality dining experience... aside from all the old rich white people. Just kidding. I'm old. And I'm half-white. So lighten up. :-)
Denny's has a better front desk and wait staff than Daniel's. The rudeness is amazing. I agree with Kevin K. about a better atmosphere and better service can be found at the Met, El Gaucho, even Morton's! For the prices being charged I expect more than a laissez-faire "I can't be bothered with you" attitude from the front desk person and a "you can eat in the back through the doors" flick of a wrist. First impressions DO count!
Luckily, there are now many other restaurants in this area so it's not difficult to find one that has good food and good service.
Super fabulous happy hour, but get there early or you will not get a seat. Great views of the eastside and lake. If you don't see a table in the bar, keep going towards the piano and hang a right into the wine room. Usually has space, lots of couches, TV and attentive service. Teriyaki steak bites, popcorn shrimp and dungeness crab for happy hour. Steaks go without saying for dinner. Must try the coconut hot fudge sundae for dessert. Good wine selection and knowledgeable staff.
So it gets 4-stars, but for Bellevue it probably deserves 5, cause let's be honest it the best HH in town. It's those firkin popcorn shrimps, and those beef tips.
And here's why you should be glad you read past firkin:
Go to the back, the "wine tasting room." You don't have to taste the wine, but you can have a good convo with some co-workers and not be drowned out by the cougars singing along to the piano bar.

So the Daniel's brand has redeemed itself. After a lackluster meal at their Leschi location (which I Yelped @ 3 stars), the Bellevue spot is more in line with what I've heard about the place. I went for the Delmonico this time around, and the 20oz. cut was among the most flavorful steaks I've ever tasted. The marbling was so delicious, it tasted as if there was a thin sleeve of pork fat wrapped around the edge of the steak. The charbroil was perfect, and given my overcooked experience at Leschi, I was apprehensive cutting into this piece. No worrying necessary - it was decidedly MedRare and absolutely perfect.
Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and quite enthusiastic about our choices of local wines. It's always good to see someone enjoying their work, and it made our experience even better. Bonnie had a lobster tail that I could have sworn was the whole lobster stuffed in a tail, and it tasted as succulent as it looked.
The appetizers were as solid as ever, with thick and meaty bacon wrapped scallops, and a dozen oysters on the half shell. The oysters could be considered a bit overcooked by some, but they were perfect for me.
Unfortunately we didn't have time for dessert, as we were on our way to the Mariners/Yankees game, but this experience definitely brought the Daniel's name back up in my mind as a worthy stop next time I have a hankering for a good steak. I wouldn't call it "mind blowing"; I still save that for Ruth's Chris and, for the only time I've been there, El Gaucho. But this was a meal that I wont soon forget. If I could give this steakhouse 4.5 stars, I would.
Good high-end steak house. I would give this place an 8 for atmosphere, 8 for service and 10 for food. The atmosphere and service is good, but the food is what makes this place shine.
One of the best steakhouses Bellevue, this restaurant features a mixture of high-end steaks, chops and seafood with many sides served ala carte.
The Happy Hour is fantastic with a wide selection of food priced 1/2 off and a daily drink special. My favorite Happy Hour dishes are the bacon wrapped scallops, popcorn shrimp, jumbo cocktail shrimp and the seared ahi. Calamari is decent and so is the filet strips. Not too crazy about the BBQ shrimp or the artichoke hearts but they're not bad either.
Lastly, if you like chocolate, you MUST try the chocolate cake. Baked on order, it's more like a giant, super moist brownie served hot with Vanilla Ice Cream. Amazing.
ADDED
I refused to try other desserts here due to my passionate love for Daniel's chocolate cake. Recently, I wasn't in the mood for desserts so my wife ordered the peach cobbler due to a recommendation from a friend. I ended up eating 3/4's of the whole thing! Amazingly, it's as good as the chocolate cake. I wouldn't have believed it, but it's true.
Came here for Happy Hour with a party of about 9. The drinks I ordered were pretty expensive--$17.50 for 2 Midori Sours and $10.00 for a Lemon Drop! It has been a while since I had such expensive drinks...
A few of us shared the Calamari and Prime Filet Mignon Steak Strips. The Calamari was fine; it came with both cocktail and aioli sauces, but the Steak Strips were not very exciting. They were bite-sized chunks of beef in a pretty flavorful teriyaki sauce, however, I felt they were a bit dry. I didn't have any, but the BFF had a piece of the Bacon Wrapped Scallops and raved about it.
Though it was initially pretty hard to order food, service was good. Our waitress was great at keeping the drink orders straight and refilling waters.
My parents have gone here before, and they didn't give a very good ratings at all. But this was the first time I had ever been to DB, and it was a pleasant surprise.
We were seated almost immediately after getting a reservation (I hate restaurants that tell you to wait 15 min even though they know you are coming at a specific time).
The hostess did not look happy to be there. She kind of set a bad mood, but the waiters made it all better. They attended to our every need.
The food was AMAZING. It didn't take long to prepare and the meat was so tender and juicy. The waiter asked us to cut into the middle of our steaks, so we can evaluate if it was cooked to our desires before we started eating. This is top notch service right there. It was kind of dark, so they even held a pen light to let us see better of what the steak looked like!
I ordered the filet mignon (medium rare), and I've never tasted a better steak. It was seasoned to perfection--not too salty but with blasts of flavor! My boyfriend got the Porterhouse Prime, and it had a completely different taste from my filet, but it was very tender and delicious, too! Our knives slid through the steaks without having to tug away at hard ends. The excess juice flowed out of the steaks and was enough to use for bread dipping as well as retaining the steak's tenderness. The plates were extremely hot, promising the warm entree throughout the entire dinner.
Our waters were always filled to the rim, and my boyfriend's Pepsi was replaced every 5 minutes or so with a new glass and a napkin.
Since it was my birthday, my boyfriend put in a request for a birthday special dessert! It had lovely presentation of chocolate sprinkles. The dessert was a rich chocolate mousse with an oreo cookie base. I'm not a big fan of rich chocolate, but this was pretty good!
The view we had the entire time we were there was splendid. We got to watch the sun set from the giant windows nearby.
Daniel's Broiler is now one of my favorite places to go to, despite the price! (Now if only I can become a high roller anytime soon..)
This is a great place for Happy Hour - their Prime Filet Mignon Steak Strips are the best. The Crispy Artichoke Hearts with Hollandaise sauce are pretty good too. I've also always thought that the Spicy Barbecued Prawns looked divine, but I am allergic to any shellfish that turns red. : ( Yep, I am a cheap date.
The steak here is pretty good - all Nebraska corn fed beef. And, the Daniel's Special Berries are great for dessert.
The service is top notch, and Jim Washburn on the piano is entertaining and makes for a fun evening.
This is the type of place you go for a special meal. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is attentive and you can get a seat with a great view of Lake Washington. Go at the right time and you can catch the lovely sunset. The food is always outstanding - order a steak of course! They also have other delish items like seafood but make sure to save room for dessert. I've been here several times for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed.
So I finally snagged a dinner here on Friday, and I can't think of anything about it that was short of excellent. They do have a great steak. Juicy, charred, crisp, but tender to the center. Full of flavor!
Appetizer (steak strips) were SUPER juicy/flavorful. (I was hell bent on having a ton of meat here!)
Service was great. Waiter seemed a bit new, but he was very nice and took care of everything which needed to be attended to.
Bill was pretty astronomical. But, I guess you have to account paying for those little extras.

I love to come here for it's bar and happy hours.
Great view...
Dinner wise... it's not bad.
Private dinning available
Mmmmm...Daniel's steak strips...Ooooh....gorgeous view
I'm reviewing purely for happy hour. Come early and come hungry! Claiming a table is hard with or without the view. My friend and I sat down in a table for four and then a couple came by later to ask if they could sit with us. That didn't bother us at all but just heads up for those that may want some privacy.
I think this is by far the best steakhouse and seafood restaurant you can find. You can't find better tasting or quality beef, and everything their chef prepares is 5 star. It's a fancy restaurant, but if you happen to come as you are, which I always do, I am still treated with 5 star treatment.
Their views of Seattle and the Olympic Mtns, etc are excellent, their waiters and waitresses never leave you waiting for anything. They are right there, but never hanging over you.
It's expensive, but would expect it to be for the quality and the amount of food you get. Places like Black Angus are fine for a dinner, but this is THE place for a special occasion, like an anniversary. It's a 5 star quality restaurant, but it also is expensive, but the perfect place for that special time you want to celebrate.
Took my brother-in-law to Daniel's for his birthday. We both like steak and agree that Daniel's cooks it just right. Though they have a significant wine list I have a cellar and they are friendly toward BYOB with a reasonable twenty dollar corkage. The service was nearly impeccable, as usual. Daniel's in Bellevue is my favorite but does tend to be a rather loud restaurant. We carried on a conversation without trouble, but I did notice (as did my wife) when I got home that I was speaking very loudly. I ordered the ribeye and my companion the NY steak. Both were cooked as requested. I was offered a pepper crust and for the first time said "yes" - that turned out to be a mistake. The steak, while cooked as ordered, was truly encrusted with whole peppercorns. Had I not scraped generously, the steak would have been completely drowned in the flavor of pepper. Even after removing the majority of the peppercorns I still didn't enjoy the steak as much as I would have without this extra touch. Lesson learned! The sides at Daniel's are nothing memorable - garlic mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, etc. I say just order a bigger steak and maybe take home leftovers for the family.
I thought I would start this review with an introduction... I'm not really into eating at high priced fancy restaurants, but that has all changed now (much to my wallets dismay) since I've eaten at Daniels Broiler. Before going I asked all my co-workers what they thought of the restaurant and read every review on yelp... and after hearing time and time again that Daniels would certainly be the best restaurant I'd ever eat at I decided I had to go. My biggest fear wasn't the cost of the meal but the fear that I had the restaurant so hyped up in my mind that it would never be able to live up to my expectations. What made it even a bigger deal was my husband and I decided to go there on our anniversary and I didn't want the night to be ruined by poor service or bad food after hearing such great things about the restaurant.
Well, after that lengthy introduction :) I am happy to report that Daniels did not disappoint and was, in fact, the best restaurant meal I have ever had. I made reservations and we arrived about 10 minutes ahead of time. To my surprise, we didn't have to wait and were promptly escorted to our table right next to the window. The view was beautiful, you could see the city of Bellevue, Lake Washington, and the Seattle skyline in the distance. Someone at the table next to us was taking pictures of the view, it made me wish I had brought my camera too!
Our waiter was very pleasant, he wished us a happy anniversary which was a nice touch. We ordered the bacon wrapped sea scallops as an appetizer. They were amazing. My husband said they were "criminal" they were so good. They were big, moist, and came with this beautiful butter sauce that made them even more decadent. I could have ordered and ate those scallops all night but next came the meal. I ordered the rib eye steak (my favorite cut) and my husband ordered the prime rib. When the steaks arrived the waiter asked me to cut into my steak to let him know if it was cooked to my liking, it was perfect. Never have I been to a restaurant where they asked you to cut into your steak to make sure it was to your liking, just another wonderful touch. My steak was AMAZING. Succulent, rich, flavorful, seasoned just right, AMAZING! My husband's prime rib was equally tasty. I ordered the mashed potatoes with my steak. They were creamy and luscious. My husband ordered the baked potato and when our plates arrived the waiter prepared his potato with the toppings he wanted right at the table, yet another special touch.
I have to say that I can be quite the piggy piggy when it comes to eating and I certainly did not hold back during this meal. I stuffed my face with steak, potatoes, and bread until I couldn't eat anymore. Satisfied, I proclaimed that I was done but my husband had other plans and asked the waiter for the desert menu :) I was dead set on not ordering dessert for fear they would have to roll me out of the restaurant but then the waiter said they had a seasonal apple tart available and my husband ordered it for me along with a slice of cheesecake for himself. I am so thankful that my husband ignored my intentions and ordered me a dessert (I guess he knows me too well!) because that apple tart was amazing. It was light, fluffy, and the apples tasted perfect inside. It was served warm with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream and, although it took me a while, I finished every last bit of it. As for my husband's cheesecake, he summed it up by saying "now, this is what cheesecake is supposed to taste like!"
So yes, Daniels was all that I hoped it could be and then some. The bill came out to $140 before the tip (and we didn't order any alcohol, my husband had a soda and I had water) so that tells you it's not a cheap place to eat but it was worth it... 100% worth it. I think I'm going to hit up the "visit las vegas" website and start using some of their strange holidays to make up reasons for me to go back to this restaurant - chinchilli day here I come!
Hellooooo Happy Hour! As great as the regular dining experience is at Daniels, i prefer their awesome Happy Hour!
Stella on the cheap? Check. Bacon wrapped scallops for like $6? check. Beautiful setting on the waterfront? double check. The food speaks for itself, just remember you are at a fine steakhouse/seafood restaurant. Big flavor, perfectly cooked and cut portions make eating here fun (and inexpensive for HH!!)
I've heard complaints about service here, truthfully, I've always had a great experience. The crowd tends to be the more established professional folks which leads to a very charming atmosphere (also a pretty good date spot).
I'm not sure what I expected from this place but I came in and felt like I had been transported into an episode of murder she wrote. Older crowd, flower tapestries, marble tables... This place must have been hopping about 10 to 15 years ago along with it's clientele. I suppose there's a certain charm to that though.
Steak in appetizer was really good quality and cooked perfectly. I got panchetta prawns, which I kind of regretted. I strayed away from the steaks because I'm not a huge fan and they're expensive, but then I salivated a bit when I saw the giant pile of mashed potatoes and such surrounding them... The veggies were the best part of my dinner plate, cooked perfectly and had some sort of buttery chive sauce on them.
We also had a window seat, which was nice, but thrill was over in about 20 minutes. Service was good, although there were a few odd characters around.
If you ever venture into this Daniel's and happen to order a Stella and find that the base of your glass is chipped, think of me... I got a little too excited?
On the 20-something-ith floor of the big tall building across from mall-land in Bellevue is perched the Broiler of Daniel.
Behold the view of the suburban wastes! Gasp upon the kingdom of Lexus SUVs and 7-series commuters.
While your jaw is agape, you might as well stuff some steak in there.
Daniel's Broiler isn't a top shelf steakhouse, but it's better than average by chain standards. I wouldn't spend my money here, but I would be content to eat and give expense account steak here.
Nothing is objectionable, the views and service are more than adequate, but that's where it ends.
These guys are hurting for business, and it shows.
My father and I have the same birthday, so every year, we do a birthday lunch and agree on a place to eat. I have been to Daniels at LEAST 20+ times, but for some reason, now is when I feel like reviewing it.
The food was great, as always, and the waiter was HILARIOUS. I am never offended nor easily irritated, but I WAS a little thrownaback when he started talking about how he got snowed in at work and how everyone went pubcrawling...got drunk..passed out in snow..etc etc. Those stories should be told by a Denny's server, not a Daniels one.
So, the only reason I am giving Daniels 4 stars is this -
The manager at the time stopped by while we were eating and proceeded to make THE most akward small talk. "So...you guys able to get gas around here? Yeah...all the gas stations are out." and other ramblings like this.
Are you serious dude? WTF? I am trying to enjoy my friggen bday lunch right now and youre over here making small talk? And it wasnt for a few seconds just to ask how it was, it was at LEAST 2 minutes - and not one time did he throw in a comment about the food. After he was done blabbing he simply said "Well...ok. Enjoy the day" and walked away.
Retire dude - go work at Jiffy Lube or something.
Love the view, food is always good, but they need some change or they are going to be the next Black Angus.
My husband works in the building, and we've been to Daniel's Broiler quite a few times.
We would always get one of their steaks. About 75% of the time our steaks would be burned. So after awhile we decided to just get the chicken, which was always decent.
The only time we go there now is when work is paying. There are better steak places out there....you just need to find them.
The view is the best thing about this restaurant.
I struggled with this one. Daniel's is typically a great chain with a great reputation. The view is fantastic and atmosphere is very appropriate and comfortable for a high end steakhouse. Unfortunately, our experience last week was disappointing and hopefully an unusual occurrence. In our group of 9 the server struggled. He consistently confused who ordered which dish or drink and we ended up pouring our own wine half of the time because there was nobody paying attention to it.
As for the food, the seared ahi was tough and overcooked. One steak was too rare. When sent back it returned over cooked. They offered to replace it, but that would leave one person starting and finishing way after the rest of the group and at that price tag we did not expect that. On the brighter side, the lobster salad was tremendous!
Overall, we would have been OK with the evening at half the price, but the reason you go to a restaurant like Daniel's is to have an impeccable experience and it just did not deliver this time.
I could have sworn I've already given this place a five star review like two years ago, but oh well. So my extremely awesome 10/5 star girlfriend took me here for my birthday for a steak and lobster dinner. We actually had to start off in the bar because our table wasn't quite ready yet, but that's okay because we were able to find a comfortable table in the bar very quickly. Our martinis were quite good (my girlfriend really enjoyed her Caramel apple martini), and the service in the bar was great as well. My only issue was it was pretty crowded and loud, and it was only Wednesday night. Anyway, the martinis definitely made the 10-15 minutes in the bar seem quite short.
We were given quite a nice table at the window. A very nice view of Bellevue, and it was a table for four for two. Which made things more comfortable. Our service was perfect throughout the entire night. Good knowledge of the menu, some charm, left us alone to enjoy our dining experience but attentive enough to make sure we had water, bread, food cooked to order, etc.
My girlfriend ordered the Filet while I had the Rib Eye and Lobster. The steaks are definitely what you expect from a prime steak restaurant. Tender, juicy, huge cuts of meat goodness. I will say though that my steak (and lobster) dinner was more memorable at Daniel's Broiler than Jak's, Met Grill, and Morton's. I will also mention that their Lobster Bisque is the BEST Lobster Bisque I've ever had. They even go so far to bring you your bowl with the pieces of lobster in it, then pour the bisque on top to prove show there really is chunks of lobster in it.
Going to Daniel's Broiler is definitely not on the cheap side, but it is an experience perfect for special occasions or you just feel like treating yourself to a amazing steak dinner. The food, service, atmosphere, ability to make reservations, and free and easy parking just make Daniel's Broiler IMO the BEST Prime Steakhouse in the Seattle-area.
~G
My boyfriend and I came for late night happy hour after seeing a movie. We were seated a cozy table in the corner and then promptly ignored by the waitress for almost 15 minutes, even as she sat other guests and took their orders promptly.
My boyfriend got up to ask someone to please serve us and then the bartender came over immediately to take our order. Then the manager stopped by to apologize and paid for our first round of drinks.
All in all, the food was pretty good and the happy hour prices are amaizng. I wish there were more non-fried items on the menu though. And while the evening started out on a sour note, the staff at Daniel's Broiler really made up for it.
Best steak+view in the area hands down... where else can you eat usda prime filet on a piano with a guy singing 'sailing'.
Finish it off with a Valrhona Chocolate cake... tastes like Champurrado...
breezy friendly..
If you're okay with dropping a fair amount of money, then come here!!
The view at the top of the Hyatt is so beautiful!! You can see all of Bellevue out to Seattle, perfect for a date and/or to watch the sunset..
Although it is pretty pricey, the food is well worth it. Sit in the lounge and you get the backround music of a live pianist... very nice, if there aren't very many people in the lounge he can be pretty comeidic as well... thats a plus when you're in a ritzy place...
just be sure not to get in the way of the bellevue bitchy (over 40) babes... they'll save you for desert... and not in a good way
Go for their Happy Hour, and not just for the drinks! All wines by the glass and all appetizers are half price. And, the apps are not smaller during HH, like many places do. The scallops wrapped in bacon are too die for - add a shrimp salad and you are set! Sit at the bar and eat - Ryan and Thomas are the best bartenders around.
If you go for lunch, the Steak Daniel is the best - 5 oz filet with a crab, asparagus and mashed potatoes - $21.
I was lucky enough to wine and dine on the company dime at daniel's broiler last nite. We hosted a customer event which included a seafood bar (crab legs, bruschetta, jumbo shrimp, oysters, etc.) as a starter and then a 3 course menu in a private dining room overlooking the bellevue/seattle skyline.
the caesar salad was good but maybe alittle too much lemon juice for my liking. I highly recommend the filet mignon -- one of the best i've tasted! the entree is accompanied by a very generous portion of mashed potatoes and broccoli. however, the dessert sampler plate of cheesecake, creme brulee, chocolate cake, fresh berries, and chocolate covered strawberries was just ok. Definitely come here for the red meat and red wine!
Daniel's is very good. It is also very expensive but that is what you should expect at a high end streak house. Personally I would rather go to Melrose Grill in Renton because I think the food, service and prices are way better but if you have the dollars to lay down and are trying to impress a client go to Daniel's as it is impressive with the piano bar and all of it's swagger. It is very Bellevue.
As noted in many other reviews, the view from Daniel's is really nice and romantic. They have an extensive wine list, but is definitely overpriced for no reason.
I ordered the filet Oscar style medium rare. The steak was good, and was cooked to order, but the crab that came on top was not what I had expected. There were paltry pieces of crab, not lumps of it, and it tasted freshly-thawed and a bit fishy. The bernaise sauce that I got on the side was not good either.
My date ordered the filet medium rare, and it came out black and badly charred. We had to send it back. Our server, who had been very attentive during our stay, brought out some sorbet while we waited for them to make another filet. By the time the second filet came out, we had both finished mine and were ready to go.
The steaks are a bit pricey for what you get, but you are paying for the view, live piano music, and great service.
The only thing better than the juicy perfectly cooked, tender and seasoned dead cow being shoved into my salivating mouth and ever loving stomach acids...was the view of Lake Washington and Seattle.
I lied; another good thing is the vendor picking up the tab, cause that shit be a pricey bitch
Had a good dinner with my wife and oldest son. Very traditional steakhouse with great selections/cuts of beef and a good wine list to accompany the food. Awesome view around sunset as its perched at the top of the building here in Bellevue. The bar here is the occasional meat market as well with a good people watching atmosphere and comical piano bar to keep you entertained...
Ok, made reservations for the anniversary dinner but didn't tell them (I'm a bit sheepish about always telling folks stuff like this). Well, I probably should of told them but did once we sat down in the bar while waiting for our table. I use to come to the bar back in the day (when the cigar bar was open) and loved it so I should probably check it out for happy hour again.
Anyway, we grabbed a table with a view and waited. The hostess came over right on time with the reservation and mentioned she had a table with a great view -- whew, saved!! (ps just tell them if you have an event!!)
So, our waitress was fantastic. She took very good care of us and made wonderful suggestions throughout the night. I let her know that we don't like to have huge entrees and prefer to share and eat more variety or possibly save room for dessert. No problem she says, she'll split whatever we want. We had the caviar (it was an anniversary after all) and champagne for an appetizer and split the fillet and lobster. For dessert we had this crazy chocolate dessert which I assume Valrhona cake as we just said chocolate and she said got it. No way we could make it through the whole cake so was asked to have it to go. "Apparently" she dropped it in the kitchen so she had to give us a whole brand new one to go. I thought my wife's eyes were going to pop out.
Right, so the steak and lobster were totally mouth watering as well cooked perfectly. We enjoyed the wine choice verrrry much (I forget but it was a vineyard owned by the my three sons actor - McCase or something?).
A fantastic evening and of course we will come back.
Happy Hour here is pretty awesome. Great menu with lots of choices, amazing view from the bar and it's always busy for a reason. My favorite is the spicy, bbq prawns. Not spicy unfortunately but makes up for it in the flavor!!!!
