I was in Acton and looking for something other than pizza for lunch. I had read reviews on Yelp for this place and was expecting really terrible food. Maybe that is why I didn't think this place was so awful. My carnitas burrito was a little bland, but it tasted like other low rent Mexican food. I was the only person there at 1 in the afternoon, which is never a good sign for a business. Also, the bathroom, as other reviewers have noted, is a disgrace. It's not amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not the worst I've ever had.

My mother and I went to Daniela's tonight for a nice relaxing meal out.
What we got was a GREAT waitress and not so great food.
We ordered:TAQUITOS, FLAUTAS DE POLLO, TAMALES and a spinach and artichoke dip.
We ended our 'meal' with a turtle cheesecake
The dip wasn't bad and the dessert was very tasty but everything else.......
The Taquitos had no meat in them and that meat that was there was soooo dry we couldn't eat it.
The Flautas de pollo wasn't bad but was pretty much some chicken wrapped in dough and deep fried.
I was VERY excited to try Tamales because I always hear how good they are.....welllll not these!
I was very disappointed and left feeing kinda gross.
Wont go back.
side note, our waitress, I think her name was Sofia maybe, was GREAT! -

Hmm... how to rate this sh*t show. I left smelling like a mix of tacos, tequila, and even worse... townies.
The food was bad, the drinks were awful, and the service was worse than both together. Had it been cheap, I could have overlooked how much everything sucked. Totally not the case. I could rant on and on about things that were wrong, but let's just say EVERYTHING was wrong.
I will never be back here. Ever. And I would recommend no one else go there either. -

We should have known better...we were the only people there at noon this past Sunday...
The salsa was watery and tasted like ketchup....which again, we should have known better...The entrees were made with low quality ingredients and looked to be thrown together and just didn't taste good.
The kicker was that we split the bill (cash and two cards) three ways (which turned out to be about $15 each. I checked my statement and was charged over $40. My other friend, who payed with a card, did not have the same problem. I called to have this error fixed and apparently the manager isn't there (and not expected) and I'm now expecting a call back in a few days. Sweet. It's not the money, but the fact that my receipt clearly says one thing and they clearly entered another. I just don't like that. -

I used to like Daniela's. Right after it first opened the service was pretty prompt, $2 "Daniela's Special" aka PBR was on tap and it was a good place to have some drinks late night, split some apps or even eat a whole meal.
Man, they have fallen off badly in a short time. Weekends are a shitshow, dance floor is mobbed, all the drafts are kicked by 10 and its impossible to get a drink.
Oh....did I mention that it's packed with 40-60 year olds? Acton's finest. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the old folk, but no one wants to see a 55 year old dude making out with his wife (at least I hope it's his wife?) on the dance floor or 40 year old guys high five each other after attempted a particularly embarrassing dance move. Ugh
I tried to bear and grin it a few times with my girlfriend, it used to be a good spot we enjoyed. That time has passed.
Most recent time we went for food, I got fish tacos, she got enchiladas. Food was meh, but service was pretty awful. Just an all around disappointment. Margs and food is on the pricey side, as well. -

Daniela's has reopened after a summer move and renovation. They're now located at 103 Nagog Park, Acton, MA.
Daniela's might be losing it. The chips used to come out fresh and warm and on our last visit, we got a basket of chip crumbs. The service was very good but the food just didn't inspire us like it used to. Kick it up, Daniela's!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Woe is me....will I ever find a place that serves anything close to decent Mexican food? I can strike Daniela's off the list. Food: lousy and no different from the corporate chains. Dining room: painfully loud to the old ears!
Started out with black bean soup. It tasted like black beans out of a can...bland and smoooshy. It was just awful. Went onto a veggie quesadilla....a soggy, icky mess. The salsa was too sweet and runny to my taste. The dining room, as small as it was was VERY loud, bouncing off of all the hard surfaces of the small room!
What was good? The beer! Nice selection of Mexican bottled beers.
Okay, I am asserting myself as a transplanted Californian (who is very happy to be hanging his hat in New England). Can someone PLEASE open a place in the burbs that emulate the fine neighborhood taqueria's that are so ubiquitous in places like L.A. or San Francisco? -

My friends and I went to Daniela's last week and will not be back.
We came here because we heard the margaritas were great-not the case at all. They were very weak, and had an odd taste, even after we asked our server to have them remade.
Even worse than the bad drinks was the food-it was all super greasy and low quality. There were also flies buzzing around our heads and landing on our plates, making it hard to enjoy what we ordered (not that a great ambiance would have helped that sorry excuse for guacamole). Next time, I'll stick to Anna's for my burrito fix.
Save your money and go somewhere else. Anywhere else. -

I'm no Mexican food snob, but the food here was just really, really mediocre.
I tried the veggie quesadilla and the fajitas, both of which were just bland and unimpressive -- so uninspiring that I'm at a loss for adjectives here. The fried ice-cream was flat out terrible -- it tasted savoury/ salty, like it had been fried in the same oil as the chips etc., which should have been changed last week anyway.
The idea of having Mexican food in the area without going far may be appealing, but really, go somewhere else. Or eat at Subway. -

Ah, Daniela's. After much hesitation, I had decided to venture to Acton for a few drinks...some karaoke...and perhaps some decent people watching. I wasn't interested in the food menu at all, nothing looked appetizing and the Special Board slightly scared me. New Bedford Burrito. Ok, we are in Acton, at a Mexican joint, where did THAT come from? Scary.
On to the drinks and singing. Service was awful. The bar area was small and had some regulars scattered about but it certainly wasn't so busy to require three bartenders who just stood there in a daze. After finally drinking a Pink Sangria which wasn't good at all (and took nearly ten minutes to get)...I managed to make my way into the disgusting ladies room. Both stalls had no tp and I have heard that is a regular thing, so pack your own.
I will NOT be back. -

My bf and I went here for Cinco de Mayo and were surprised to be sat right away. The restaurant looked very authentic and was reasonably busy. The waitress was very nice and took our orders quickly. The chips and salsa we ordered weren't terrible but the salsa was all watery and had no spice to it. My bf got a strawberry margarita which tasted like cherry cough syrup and I got a "Jimmy Buffet" margarita that had Grand Marnier in it so it should have been good. I couldnt drink more than a sip. It was all sour mix. Our food came out too fast and was bland but looked good.
Our waitress asked us twice how everything was when we asked for our check so we decided to tell her how bad our margaritas were (which was obvious since they were both practically untouched). She was very nice about it and removed them from the bill.
We would never go back here again, but I feel its important to note that we did have good service and the restaurant did make us feel like we were in a real Mexican restaurant. -

I guess i'll give this place 3 stars. The food is OK, nothing special, but then again I just got a taco salad so I didn't really try the more "legit" mexian items on the menu. I will say that I agree with the other reviewer who said the salsa was like ketchup - it was a very thin, runny consistency. But the chips were fine (how can you mess up tortilla chips, seriously?).
The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because the drinks are good (and cheap!), and it's a fun time. I went out for dinner and drinks with my girlfriends, because we heard the dancing was good. It definitely was. The DJ on Friday night was awesome. The crowd was interesting, but everyone was there to have a good time so it wasn't like some of the obnoxious crowds you can get when you go into the city.
So, the food reduces the rating, but the ambiance is a plus. It's worth a try, especially if you live in the area. -

I had lunch here at this new Acton location for the second time. I was kind of confused the first time, because the quality of the food was down from when the restaurant was located in Maynard. The charm came back the second time. Had quite a nice meal here and the service, just as always, was very good.

Horrible. I don't know why I'm not giving it just one star, I guess I'm nicer than I thought.
The first time I went there I got take out, a veggie burrito that included guacamole (I was craving guacamole that day). I get to my car to check my order and there was no guacamole. I go back inside and they wouldn't give me the guacamole, I'm not lying. I pointed it out listed on the menu for the burrito I ordered and everything.
So, going along with the fact that I'm too nice, I decide to give it another try. Again, take out, same item. While the food was correct this time with its guacamole, it was just horrible. I would hate to know the sodium level in that burrito as it was all salt. The seasonings were just bad. I had to throw it out.
Oh, both times I also ordered chips and salsa. Both times the chips were stale. I try to always give a bad experience a second try, but I won't give a third.
Sierra's in Sudbury isn't that far of a drive and it's much better food. -

Not my favorite place, though I haven't been in a while. The last experience I remember was that it was extremely busy. I had called in my order and when I got there (after the alotted time), I still had to wait over 30 minutes for my take out order. I don't recall the food being that great, but maybe I need to try it again...

Make sure you have a lot of TP in your house before dining at Daniela's. Please, for the love of God, don't eat anything that is perishable here. I will only return when it's the last place open in town and I intend to only drink.

I went here for lunch with some coworkers, and it was extremely unmemorable. The food was just.. bleh.. lacked flavor, but I barely ate any after losing my appetite at the site of a rather large bug on the wall next to me. I expected a little more from a place that was pretty packed with customers.

Daniela's Cantina has moved to Nagog Park, don't be fooled, a new location won't help the quality of their food or drinks. Don't waste your time.

Daniela's is something of a weird little place. The food is very decent, with a variety of Mexican staples (I am not any kind of expert on Mexican food), as well as stuff that's more towards the Tex-Mex side of the spectrum. Anything with barbecue on it they do surprisingly well. They're good about omitting objectionable ingredients like beans and stuff. Their chips and salsa before you get your food are really quite excellent; the chips are homemade and really yummy (i think that's my favorite adjective for food) (again, I know nothing about salsa, so you really shouldn't listen to me about that ). The portions range from ideal to stingy. The decor is kinda odd; the walls seem hand-painted and are nasty-looking, but the concrete tables are cool. There are a couple big drawbacks; number one is the service. It is invariably slow and inattentive; the food comes at an average to slow pace, but it's frequently taken a great deal of time to get an order placed, and you often don't see much of your server in the interim. The other issue is that in the winter, it is extremely cold in the front seating area, by the door.
For all that, though, it's a good place; a nice place for lunch, and a reasonably short drive from my office. -

On a Saturday night, 12 of us were able to get seated within 20 minutes of walking in the door and about half of us had gigantic margaritas in hand by the time we sat down. This is saying a lot since the place isn't all that big. The chips and salsa were fantastic and the servings were more than plenty big enough, nobody had complaints about bang for the buck. And after spending the entire day filming our 48 Hour Film Project we were plenty hungry! I will definitely stop in again when I am in the area if only to get a better look at the concrete tables and the walls made out of doors.

Excellent Mexican food - a little unexpected for Acton. Their nachos are to die for, and they have great margaritas. I also highly enjoy their wonderful tacos. I wish the place was a little bigger and had more seating, but then again I have never had to wait for a table.

New place does not have the charm of the old one.
I was a big fan of Daniela's at the old location- and now I've been to the new one a few times. I liked the coziness of the old place- we could pop in at 9 pm to sit at the bar for a couple of margaritas and an appetizer.
The bar in the new place is 3 times the size-- it is loud, and always packed. It is so loud you can barely hear yourself, let alone your companion. I miss being abel to sit at the bar and talk to the bartenders and the people around me. -

Dainela's is our standby Mexican place. We go there when we don't feel like driving too far. The food is not spectacular, but it's consistent and decent. The portions are large, and the prices are reasonable. The place is very small. They have a bar and a few tables. Because it's always packed, I usually get my food to go. If I'm not feeling lazy, I usually go to Sierra's, which is a little further away but has better food.

Don't eat the food. The drinks are good. But who can't make a drink. I know 8 year old's that know how to poor orange juice in a cup. The only thing mexican about this place is the decorations, and Dos Equis. I wonder who makes the food. I make better nacho's myself.

This place was bad. I mean really bad. I ate here a couple of weeks ago with some coworkers. We decided to head over early to beat the lunch rush. First of all, there was nobody around to seat us and we were told they didn't have enough menus to go around. The place was not even 1/4 full. The chips tasted like they came from a bag months beyond the expiration date and the salsa was terribly bland. Our food was delivered in two waves, late, and 20 minutes later than late. The food was dry and very bland. Dumping a lot of cheese on bland food and it still tastes bland. All in all took almost an hour and a half for a lunch meal, and a bad one at that. Avoid.

Daniela's is awesome! The drinks are the best. They've got all sorts of margaritas - my favorite is the Laurita which has a splash of cranberry. Food is made to order, so don't be afraid to ask to change something in your menu pick. I especially like the fish tacos (grilled instead of fried). The friendly staff and the fun bar crowd make this one of my favorite restaurants!
