I have been a few times to see the amazing, highly talented and wonderfully charming Ingrid. I came in badly needing a cut since I had let me hair grow out for almost a year and trashed it further with a ton of bleach. Ingrid is whip-smart witty and set me back on the street looking better than ever! I have been talking her up to anybody that comments on my fabulous hair, which, let's be honest, is pretty much everyone.
My second review is for Mary Jo. Let me just preface by saying if you need a wax, you NEED to see Mary Jo. She is so kind and gentle and you will have to just trust me when I say that I will never go anywhere else for hair removal. She uses a cool sugaring technique that sounds a bit less harsh or painful than the traditional wax. It's also a bit more "green" - bonus!
In short, what are you waiting for?!?! Go use their super easy, user-friendly online booking system NOW!!! -

How does Len not have any reviews on here? The man is a genius! My husband started seeing him about a year ago and his hair has never looked better.
I have been stylist surfing for about 2.5 years after my stylist at Vain disappeared without a trace. I searched high and low for a replacement, paid as much at $150 for a cut (by far the worst one I got, btw--I had to go back in for a do over), and couldn't find anyone who really got my hair. So I finally decided to give Len a try! I'd never been to a male stylist before so I was hesitant, but I don't think I've ever loved a cut more! My husband agrees. It is super cute. He listened to what I generally wanted, but I gave him the freedom to do what he thought was best, and I am glad I did.
It was also very affordable for a quality cut, around $50 (which is a steal in Seattle). You can trust Len to take care of you, male or female! -

I recently got my hair cut and decided I needed some color to spruce it up a bit. I have a faux hawk... so paying 80+ for some color seems a bit steep to me. Luckily, I found Dandelion on Yelp with reasonable prices and decided to give em a call to see if they could fit me in last minute.
Jules, so happen to answer the phone and listened to my rambling about what I was looking for. She was about to leave but decided to wait for me so I could get my hair colored. Can we say, AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE?! So I rushed over to the salon.. it took a bit because there was traffic in Wallingford for some reason.
To my lovely surprise the salon was all yellow! It was super cute and the vibe was calming. Not to mention they provide you with complimentary Hansen sodas. All natural sodas.. awesome. Jules was such a sweet heart and life saver. She bleached and toned some pieces of my faux hawk and it turned out great. Not to mention, she was GREAT to talk to. She even re-cut my hair because I told her about my experience at Gene Juarez.
She did a wonderful job re-cutting my hair and the dye job was great. I am SOO happy with my hair now. Plus, it was so reasonably priced! I am definitely coming back to see Jules. I think I may have found my permanent hair salon. =) -

This is the worse place I ever cut my hair in. Few things:
- got in for a hair cut with Ingrid (the owner). she was very nice and friendly. only thing i did not like was that she started immediately bad mouthing my previous hair cut, but i let it go. when she finished the hair didn't look that bad (just different from what i was used to).
- next day after a bath, i notice the hair is actually looking quite bad and needed desperately a trim on the back (she told me to call if i ever needed something or was not happy and she would squeeze me in anytime).
- a few days later i call (evidently my hair is looking worse and worse each day, like an european soccer star) for a quick trim and fix. some guy picks up the phone, quite unfriendly and starts saying she has no time in the morning, very limited availability in the afternoon,etc... he refused to squeeze me in (i only needed 5 minutes literally) so i got fed up and told him to call me back with her availability
- since i still didn't receive a call back a few hours after, booked another haircut in a nearby place closer to where I live and had my hair cut again. this time way nicer and more professionally done (just cost me more money, since had to pay again)
What a way to lose a customer (and I was about to send my wife there again....).
Sad, but had a horrible experience. Careful what you get into in this place. Hair cuts are always personal, so not has disappointed in not liking what she did. What I was extremely disappointed at was the lack of flexibility to come in for a quick trim/fix has I had been promised. Guess the business may be doing extremely well, because they did nothing to keep a new customer.Comment from Ingrid L. of Dandelion Salon 2/7/2012

I love getting facials with Mary Jo. I used to go to Habitude, but every time I found someone I liked, she would be gone the next time. Mary Jo takes care of me, my skin always looks great and I love the plant-based products she uses. And unlike Habitude, there's never a hard-sell to buy anything. The online booking service is very convenient.

A little background first...
I'm the type of person who for years has had boring hair. It's true. I was either too dang busy to get it cut or too busy to style it. I'd also had terrible experiences every time I did go to get my hair cut... like the crazy Middle Eastern stylist guy who really wanted to be friendly with me or the girl at the salon who had a 20 word vocabulary but wanted to share everything about her life and give a terrible haircut while doing it. (This is a much abbreviated list, mind you.)
One day a got the crazy idea that I would again brave the hair salon because I just couldn't stand my hair anymore. I looked up my friend Jocelyn who worked at Dandelion and told her, "just cut it!" Low and behold I got the best haircut of my life. I have NEVER been so happy with my head. A week later I came back and she colored my hair and it came out beautifully. I'm so pleased!
Sadly my Jocelyn has moved away and is no longer cutting hair at Dandelion. However I will have no problem going back to get my next hair cut there. The ladies that work there are great. They're friendly and sweet and they know what they're doing.
The salon space is spacious and airy. It's lovely. Peaceful. A nice retreat from your hard-working day.
Spend some time there and you'll be looking fabulous when you leave.

Dandelion is the first time I've ever paid more than $15 for a haircut. Before that, I went to a little Chinese woman in the ID that cost $10. I really think she was just charging $1 for every word of the english language that she knew. But that's another story entirely.
When I first came here, Jocelyn was my stylist. She was great! The first time I went in for a cut, I had no idea what I wanted. I told her what annoyed me about my hair, where I worked, and how low maintenance I wanted it to be. She went to town on my head, and on the other side was a haircut that I was very happy with and got tons of compliments on. Then, sadly (for me, not her), she moved down to the bay area. She recommended her co-worker Ingrid, and I decided to give her a shot.
Ingrid is fantastic in her own rite. She's a great barber (she said I could call her that, for my own masculinity's sake), quite humorous, and a car chick to boot. For previously mentioned reasons, I'm not used to talking much in the chair so she has supplied most of the chit chat. She ends up saying the most hilariously inappropriate things when you don't reciprocate that much, it's a lot of fun. When she asks how I want my hair, I usually don't have an opinion other than on length so I just request that she go to town. It almost always ends up well. I will continue to go back and give her my money for as long as she'll take it. -

* I yelped, I went, I DIG it!
*Ingrid is unassuming, warm and great.
*I asked for Patrick Dempsey and barring the movie star looks, *almost* got his hair.
*The place is inviting, professional and NOT Rudys.
*I am tired of the retro/mega tattoo, "Oh you work a real job you suck" hipster barber shops, screw 15 bucks, spend $30 and get a REAL haircut, go see em! -

I've been getting my hair cut here regularly for about a year and a half now. Ingrid rocks, and I'd recommend this place to anyone
It's a great value as well for the awesome job they do! -

Ingrid is the salon owner and is a hair goddess. My boyfriend needed a cut and had no idea what he wanted, and she gave him the best haircut he has ever had. Seriously. EVER HAD. I normally go to my friend but his haircut was so good that I asked her to cut mine right there on the spot. Fortunately the appointment following had to cancel so she had time. I LOVED it.
You should all go here. ALL OF YOU. Right now. -

The femmes here do a fine job, but I suspect they're more geared to the girls than the guys.
I've been meaning to try them again for a few months, but I haven't ever had the foresight to call enough in advance for an appointment as they only have a couple of people (including the owner) usually and are fully booked.
I put by appointment only because you'll never be able to get in here without one. -

Dandelion Salon is my not-so-secret beauty secret:
I'm not sure what I'd do if Ingrid closed up shop and moved out of the city. I don't trust my hair with anyone else, and would miss the barrage of compliments I receive from friends and coworkers after coming in to see her.
I feel what sets Ingrid apart from the jillion other trendy Seattle hair stylists is that I trust her to give honest and constructive feedback as far as what works and what doesn't with my hair. So many stylists are too busy locking their lips to my rear end that I don't trust them to prevent me from ruining my hair with some "really ossum idea". On the other hand, some stylists are so biased and uninterested, that they'll shoot anything down and I end up with some ho-hum haircut. Ingrid is able to take that "really ossum idea", bring it down to earth, and turn it into something functional and fantastic; a skill I feel requires super powers in communication. -

I have been going to Ingrid for almost a year now and have had one great haircut after another. The online appointment booking is super convenient, her salon is comfortable and relaxing, and her styling skills and instincts are superb. As someone who seemed to end up with a traumatically bad haircut every other visit to Rudy's, I can say without a doubt she is money well spent--I'm always confident I will leave her chair feeling good about my haircut. A note to men out there: don't be put off by the name "Dandelion Salon", Ingrid is really laid-back and easy to talk to and communicate with. As others have noted, she's into old cars, movies, etc. It's taken me a while to get around to writing this review because I kind of wanted her to stay Wallingford's best kept secret, but no more--she deserves to be booked solid.

I Love Mary Jo Wagner! She encouraged me to try "sugaring" for my next Brazilian because I was having trouble with ingrown hairs using wax. It sounded a bit odd, but now I'm hooked! My skin was baby soft and I didn't suffer the 24 hours of hot skin irritation I normally would with wax. I ended up with zero ingrown hairs!! Mary Jo is super sweet and has a way of putting you immediately at ease. Her attention to detail allows you to trust what she does. Sugaring is also a bonus for those of you who are working on lessening your carbon print...you don't have to waste all those pesky strips for removal. The sugar just pulls right off and is reused. Mary Jo has completely converted me and I love it!!

Great facial from MaryJo! I am not someone who gets many facials but I decided to treat myself and made an appointment with MaryJo at Dandelion Salon. MaryJo is super professional, very attentive and her facial room is cute and comfortable. The facial was incredibly relaxing (love the arm and hand massage!) and my skin looks and feels great. I highly recommend MaryJo for your skin care needs!

I have traveled all over the world ( I use to be a flight attendant back in the day ) and have gotten facials from many different estheticians- but I highly recommend Mary Jo. The facial I received from her, was pretty high up on the totem pole. She really listened to my concerns that I have with my skin and made my skin look and have that special glow again. It was really an amazing facial. Looking forward to booking my next appt again. She sure does a superb job!

I have been a client of Lindsey's for 7 years now and have put her through the ringer. I want it long - then short - then highlighted - then dark - make it straight - now with my natural curl etc....She has done it all and with amazing grace, patience, professionalism and talent. I have recommended her to many people who are thankful. My husband comes to her for his hair as well and I would not trust his hair to anyone else! Dandelion Salon is a calm, beautiful, open-spaced salon that allows you to escape the frenetic energy outside while receiving true hair artistry. GO to Dandelion and see Lindsey!
