Category: Nail Salons [Edit]
480 Washington StSo this place used to seem a lot better when I came here more, but it's still not a bad place to get your nails done. I came here with Gina, and we both got mani/pedis. I got both done french, because I'd never done french on my toes. The toes actually looked better than my fingers. The level of pinkness on my fingers was a little too much, and the polish was a little too heavy. The service is friendly, and attentive.
One down side: they do specials, and I didn't see the special for a mint pedicure until I was almost done, and was bummed because if it had been offered, I would have been all over it. Boo.

Dana's is your average nail/waxing salon --- I just moved to the Oak Sq area and it was extra convenient to get my mani/pedi for a wedding done here in a pinch on the 4th holiday. No wait and plenty of seating. Fine job and friendly enough service but nothing special. Prices are fair compared to other places I've been to in the general New England area. I'm sure I'll be back, given the proximity. If you live in the area, not a bad choice for quick walk-in nail service.
I've only been a few times, but each time I am very satisfied. They always greet at the door and seat me right away. They give you a box of tools and label it so you can use tools that have only touched you when you go back. All the staff are very well trained... my nails come out looking great no matter who I have. They've got a couple flat screen tv's and an assortment of magazines. To get a mani/pedi never takes too long and is only $35. If you get on their mailing list you'll get a couple coupons, one which is $5 off the mani/pedi package.
It was an okay place to get a pedicure. It was my first time and my feet was hurting like crazy so i decided to give a pedicure a try and get a foot massage. I walked in and was greeted there immediately by friendly staff and she told me that a pedicure came with a foot massage. So I waitied...and the person that I was appointed to was nice but she did such a cursory job of doing it. Still waiting for that foot massage...didnt come. Okay, so I looked closely after my pedicure was done, and she missed a spot.
They were in such a rush to finish me and get the next client that they didn't even give me time to enjoy the pedicure.
When it was time to pay, instead of it being 20, like i just read on the pricing, it was 25. Hmm, okay, I won't be coming here soon.
okay, here's the deal. i've been to dana's maybe two or three times and seen mediocre results.
tonight, i decide to hit them up again(mainly because everyone else is closed, and mama needs a new pedi like whoa), so I run in at 8:28. Sign on the door say's they're open 'til 9. Score.
However, I asked politely if I could get a pedicure and was told they were closed. Uh-huh. Boo Dana's is wicked lame.

I love Dana's. The staff is professional and to the point. Their manicures and pedicures are the perfect way to relax. Their are very sanitary, giving each customer their own set of tools that nobody else uses. Prices are decent and the wait is usually very short if there is one at all. The staff is not very talkative, but that didn't bother me because I usually go with a friend or two. Very open and welcoming atmosphere.
I have been here several times for my nails and to get my eyebrows waxed. Every time I walked in they're able to seat me quickly and work on my nails fast and efficiently. They even remember me, even if I don't go back for months at a time.
One thing I am picky about is how sanitary a place is and this place they use gloves when working on your feet, give you a personal box to do a pedicure/manicure on, and they are thorough in cleaning up the station.
For my eyebrow waxing I only go here. I have been several places and paid a lot of money for them to half do my eyebrows and I end up plucking them and screwing it up. I just got here and everyone says they look great/amazing. Definitely worth the eyebrow waxing.
For price they're reasonable since I end up getting a lot done when I usually go. I am more quality over quantity and for the price that I pay for the services I receive and the amount of time my nails last and my eyebrows, I definitely think its reasonable.
One thing I was not too happy about is the fact that they do not do tips on credit cards anymore. For me it's sometimes I problem because I can only pay with my credit card at times and I can't go anywhere without tipping (based on service). Overall I like this place a lot and would go here over a place on newbury street.

Staff were direct, efficient but nail polish was old, didn't dry despite 5 dry cycles and ended up smudging an hour later. Doesn't matter how efficient folks are if the 30 dollars you just spent doesn't last.
My girlfriend has been going here every two weeks since the begining of time. They let her bring in our dog, and are always polite, efficient, and inexpensive.

My nails almost always look great when I leave Dana's. I have a tendency to smudge them before I leave too and they always fix them with no problem.
As for waxing, they do a great job. I've only gotten my eyebrows done but they do it quickly and cleanly.

I'm not that impressed by Dana's nails! The first time I went there was for eyebrow waxing. It was fine except for the fact that my brows were red for about 2 hours (that never happens). The second time I went for a pedicure because my usual place (Brighton nails) was booked. It was pricey for the pedi AND I ended up with an ingrown toenail! I will never go here again.

This is the factory of nail salons. When you walk in, you're almost immediately given the number of a station to go to -- and there are quite a few. There's a good chance you'll have no wait or a very short one. They also give you a box with your own manicure set so you know the tools were not used on someone else.
The employees are rather impersonal, but they really can't be overfriendly considering their job is to get you in and out as quickly as possible. They do a nice job though. I'm happy with my mani/pedi.

My favorite place to go for my lovely spoiling mani-pedis. Its a nice open clean place that keeps your stuff separate from everyone elses if you're a regular. You get your own box marked with a number and no one else uses it but you.
I generally never have a wait and never make an appointment. It has busy times almost all the time but they're efficient and speedy and friendly. Not very talkative but thats ok cause I like going with friends, we chat it up as we are getting our spa-like lotion massages on our legs.
Check it out!

Hardly ever a wait and and reasonable prices. Plenty of chairs and staff in this salon! They do a good job with waxing - my eyebrows are courtesy of Dana's.

i live about 5 minutes from here and whenever I need a quick fix, i always run in and always out within the hr...they are very efficient, on point, and i think their mantra is generally for u to get what u need done, for them to get paid, and for u to get out! hahhaahah
parking is easy in the back, and it's right off of a 57 bus stop...there's also a starbucks, gym, local store, ice cream and pizza right in the area, so it's a nice morning errand...
last summer i got ONE pedicure the whole summer and i got it from dana's...they have a lot of guys that do it, and its a lil awkward for me, but GODDAMN they do a great job...I went to bermuda, and my pedicure still looked new 2 months later lol....the color didn't wear off.!!!
i don't really bother doin' manicures too oftenl because my job is a lot of moving and puttin things out and lifting and they always get ruined within' a day...their prices are a lil more expensive, but they are very clean and u don't feel like ur gonna get a fungus when u walk out...
they only thing is that they are not really friendly...i tried making small talk at times but they just stare at u and don't say anything...most of the time they have the tv on really loud so u can be distracted...
good place to bring a bf or guy because they won't be waitin' all day for u!
and don't forget to tip when different people work on u, they are soo fast, u can't even even get ur money out. before they move you to ur next person if u have more than one thing u want done! .lol
PLUS, they do great eyebrows...just the way i like, everytime. And the boss plays relaxing nature music while she does it...

I have been here a number of times because they are great at the work they do, but customer service is more than lacking and I have been treated very poorly my last few visits.
I do not expect to be yelled at when I go in for a service, so I will be looking for a new favorite place in the area to have my nails and waxing done.
