Dr Edith is a miracle.  I first started seeing her for acupuncture 3 years ago when I had horrible sciatica from a skiing accident.  Within 5 visits, my pain was gone and sciatic a cured.

I've recently started seeing her again for my history with insomnia.  During my first visit I had the most intense sleeping experience in years.  That night I slept through the night without waking up once, which hasn't happened in years.  She continues to work on it with me, while suggesting herbal supplements, dietary and behavioral changes that can add to the progress.

She has a wonderful and gentle way with people and can instantly diagnose the problem.  I highly recommend her!

I cannot recommend this place enough.

Edith did some amazing work with me and helped me resolve some problems that I didn't even realize were abnormal. I am definitely going back to her whenever I have health issues. She is so knowledgeable and really takes the time to sit with you and make sure that everything is being addressed. Edith is the best!

Let's start here: Edith is amazing! I had been searching for a new Acupuncturist for a couple of years and finally found Edith (I've been seeing her for 2 years now). Quite simply, she gets it! No matters your needs or issues, she fixes them. It is easy to rave about someone, but it is better to say my life is better because of Edith Chan.

What I miss most about SF is Dr Edith Chan's magical healing powers.  She patiently listens to your problems to get to the root of it and not just cure the outer symptoms.  Her acupuncture and tui na did wonders at relieving me of my upper back pain.

On my visit, I noticed that Edith has a diploma from Harvard showing she graduated with honors. I am so grateful that she decided to use her infinite talents towards healing people.  She's also a very successful triathlete so she definitely understands the body from multiple angles.

Edith has both brains, brawn and compassion - what a winning combination. My aching back needs her here in Scottsdale!

I can not say enough of Edith. She is knowledgeable, professional and you do see improvement right away.
After going through Orthopedic Surgery and after recommendation of having another one, I discovered Edith through the word of mouth.
I am glad I met her, because from not being able to walk 1/2 block, I was able to run 1/2 marathon in couple of months.
Needless to say, no more surgery was required.
She is passionate about her profession, and that makes a huge difference.
My husband got his knees fixed and ran with me ( he was told by 2 different doctors he needed a knee surgery).
I would definitely recommend her to anyone in need of sports or any other injury.

I had a very painful chronic shoulder condition -- a repetitive stress injury from work. I had filed for worker's comp and was receiving physical therapy...but the results were slow and I couldn't stop working, so the injury continued. I should mention that I'd also see a Rolfer and another acupuncturist.

I went to edith and she was the first person who seemed to immediately understand the structural problem that was going on (probably thoracic outlet syndrome). I am not exaggerating when I say that the injury was almost completely healed within three sessions. it felt miraculous and I'm so grateful for it.

I also want to add that edith is so devoted -- she spent a lot of time with me and often went over until my body felt just right.

Edith is a miracle worker.  I've been seeing her for a while now and I wonder what I ever did without her.  Everything that is wrong, she is able to fix.  I mean, really fix.

My back has been killing me for 5 days.  I saw Edith today, and no more pain.  She knows what she is doing.  She really LISTENS to you, and helps to treat the real problem, not just at the surface.  She is always happy and has very positive energy.

Her newly opened wellness center is wonderful.  Very comfortable and convenient.

If you want an acupuncturist - go to Edith.  She is the best!!!!!

I almost did not want to write this glowing review of Edith Chan and Dan Tian Wellness Center for fear it would become harder to get an appointment, but I give credit where it is due. Like everyone else, I have found great success in combating sports related injuries and general health problems through Edith's multi-pronged, whole-person approach to wellness.  On top of the effective treatments, Edith is a truly caring person and very passionate about her trade and it shows!  The addition of the very pleasant front office staff and the awesome new digs really put it over the top for me. 5 stars doesn't seem to be enough.

I had knee surgery for ACL reconstruction and cartilage damage. My first surgeon appointment was 6-8 weeks post surgery so really Edith Chan was my real doctor for all questions related to my knee.

Her treatment has been very comprehensive. She is very knowledgeable and always goes the extra distance. In addition to the needles, the knee massage and stretching exercises helped improve my blood circulation. When I finally got see my surgeon he said recovery looked and I was his A+ patient.

As an extra bonus, she has a library of good books that I borrow. Good reading while I was recovering. I was to miss an appointment because I could not find a ride so she called me in and paid for my cab fare, just so I wont miss my appointment during the critical healing phase.

Edith is an athlete herself, so really understands what an injury means.

Do you have an ache or pain?  Any sort of health issue?  Tired frequently?  Edith can fix it.  She is an amazing doctor and is knowledgeable about every health issue I've asked her about.  I've gone for acupuncture and manual therapy for back pain and she fixes my issue every time.  She is very focused on getting you to feel *healthy*  -- not just avoiding sickness -- which I really appreciate.  I've recommended her to a bunch of friends and they all have raved about her.  I can't say enough...

I have been a loyal patient of Edith for almost two years! I originally went to her for a sports related injury... and her magic fingers and caring demeanour have kept me coming back for more. I continued seeing her for PMS symptoms and general wellness. I feel so at peace and ready to tackle the world when I leave her office. She has also helped me to become pregnant!!! She suggested a wonderful book that help me track my fertility. So I am now seeing her for pregnancy related issues! Her new office is a beautiful place, and would recommend her to all of my friends and family!

Edith is very committed and caring.  I went to her for some strange shoulder/arm thing -- and within a few sessions the pain was very manageable and our focus has already shifted to overall wellness and health instead of isolated symptoms.

Edith also has great positive energy which makes you feel better even before she works on you.  She always spent whatever time it took each session until I was feeling better before she would let me go home.

I am a big fan and have already recommended her to other friends.

I saw Edith in the midst of severe insomnia, fatigue and a skin rash.  I was getting ready to move out of town in a few weeks and I was very concerned I would not have enough energy for my 12 hour drive through 3 states.

I had never experienced acupuncture before, had no idea what to expect and was more than pleasantly surprised.

Edith is an absolute doll.  She is so respectful, sweet and kind.  She took 2 hours with me for my first session, asking me all sorts of questions and offering so much helpful information, I had to stop and jot down notes!  After placing the needles, I nodded off to a lovely and much needed nap.  At the end of the session, we talked about supplements and nutrition.  A day or two after my session, I was sleeping like a baby, had all of my lost energy back and my skin was looking better and better!

Before leaving town, I was able to see Edith twice and I only wish I could transport her to my new city.  She is amazing, I highly recommend seeing her for any health concerns.

I have always been very healthy but have been suffering terribly from "brain fog" inability to "think straight", depression...and the texture of my hair & skin had changed dramatically, my hairline was receding noticeably all the sudden -- just a host of weird things over 5 years that my GP and ob/gyn just shrugged off.  Finally, when I tested positive for low thyroid (which I'd suggested to my docs two years earlier).  I went on the meds, but I really don't want to be on meds for the rest of my life. I wanted to see someone who would take a wholistic/naturopathic approach -- and Edith's posting said she specialized in infertility, which is hormones.  She's also in my neighborhood and has all these glowing Yelp! reviews, so I made an appt.

I've only seen her twice so far, so it's premature to rate the results. But I thought I would write to encourage anyone who has never had acupuncture or experience with Chinese Traditional Medicine to see Edith.  She has a very comfortable and pleasant facility on Geary.  She, herself, is very pleasant -- she really listens, she has a great calming presence and you feel that you are working with someone who is sensitive, intelligent and caring.  (Her undergraduate degree was in maths from Harvard.)

I had never had acupuncture before and wasn't expecting it.  I also wasn't afraid of it -- but it was all new.  And there was nothing scary about it -- though I did think it was thoughtful of Edith to leave a pager in my hand when she left the room, in case I wanted her to come immediately.  (Just one example of how much attention she gives to the small details that contribute to comfort).

Her initial consultation is $110 -- and she spent an hour talking with me.  Compare that with how much time your doctor spends with you!
My first visit, I spent a total of 2 hours there -- consultation and acupuncture followed by a little bit of massage and 3 bottles of herbal pills.  i think the bill was  $130.  I just checked online thinking that I might be able to get the pills much cheaper.  I found a number of places that sell them but -- Edith charge me the same price  or cheaper (when you factor in shipping).

I am feeling better, but I started on thyroid meds 5 weeks ago and it's difficult to know how much is Edith's assistance and how much the meds.

What I do know for certain is that I am glad that she chose to give up maths and computer programming for healing (it seems clear that it's her true calling), glad she's in my neighborhood, and feel that I am in very good and caring hands.  I have had my g.p. at CPMC for 13 years -- and when I look back on how unwilling he (and other docs) have been to try to connect the dots and figure out if maybe I had some allergy or vitamin or other deficiency...I really do wonder what all the money I paid to insurance and they paid for tests went for...

Based on another friend's raving recommendation, I initially went in to see Edith for treatment on my knees.

I found Edith to be very good at what she does because she is very passionate about it.  She truly cares about her patient's well being, listens without judgement, and provides very sound advice (without being pushy about it).  She has this positive energy that you can't help but be uplifted after a session with her.

Even after my knees have gotten better, I continue to see Edith on a regular basis for general health maintenance.  I'd much rather pay for visits with Edith than visits with a regular medical doctor any day.

    I highly recommend Edith!

I saw Edith for several months when she was at Clouds.  I saw her for asthma and some skin issues that had been at a chronic, hard-to-control level for ~10 years.  Four months of treatment and disciplined diet later, my body was balanced and those issues went from uncontrollable to very managable.  I highly recommend Edith Chan.

I was recommended to visit Edith at Dan Tian by my internal medicine doctor after seeing five other specialist, surgeons and radiologist who all had an opinion on how to treat my knee. I had been given recommendations of surgery to can't be helped due to arthritis. Edith was the only one that truly listened to cause, check form and get right to work. By the time I left I was feeling better and could immediately see the result. It took me one more visit as a precaution and disbelief that I was actually cured.

After 2 visits, I have been running pain free and recently finished a half marathon, prior to that it was a 1 mile run and pain for 7 days. Would not hesitate going back again for the next issue, this time I will go to Edith first and save the agony of the other doctors.

Edith is truly masterful in her ability to quickly diagnose and treat any new sensitivity I might have in my body--whether it's reinvigorating a rotator cuff or helping me to regulate my hormones and menstrual cycle. I don't ever feel the need to go to an allopathic doctor. As long as I am lucky enough to continue being treated--listened to--by Edith, I know I will not only remain healthy but that she will continue to work with me to understand how I can be as healthy as possible.

Edith Chan, L.Ac., opened this new clinic in January 2009, after moving from a shared space in the Outer Sunset.  Her healing manipulations (tactile and needle-ile) and advice are wonderful.  She has cured my tennis elbow -- the original reason for visiting -- and various other hitches and glitches without fail.  And, even when everything feels fine, a session with her makes everything feel even finer.
