Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Bizarro World!

As you step inside the Peabody Place mall, please be sure to review the sign displaying the dress code.  We like to keep the building gangsta free, so please keep in mind that the wearing of baseball caps and baggy trousers is forbidden.  Never mind that you may purchase baseball caps at Foot Locker and Sports Avenue, here in the mall. You may buy them - just don't wear them.

Is your world topsy-turvy yet? Don't worry, it'll get there.

To your right is Dan McGuinness pub. Here, in the heart of downtown Memphis, you will find a jovial atmosphere in the style of a classic Irish pub. The Guinness and whiskey flow liberally, and at ridiculously reasonably prices.  To further enhance your authentic Irish experience, there is Setanta sports on the TV, a pub quiz to keep you drinking through the night, and some of the genuinely best pub food this side of Galway.

That's right. In the southern home of blues and rock n' roll, you can get a surprisingly excellent corned beef and cabbage. You can accompany your stout with a crisp plate of fish and chips. And, of course, partake in the old family recipe of fried pickles.

Ok, perhaps fried pickles aren't an Irish staple, but somewhere in the old Confederate laws, it was declared that every bar south of the Mason-Dixon line must serve fried pickles.

At this point, you're probably thinking, "Ok, authentic Irish pub with not-so-Irish fried pickles in Tennessee... that's not TOO much of a stretch."

Have a seat at the outdoor tables and order your food and drinks. As you sit under the trees and enjoy the moonlight coming down from above, you'll forget that you're actually indoors in a highly controlled environment.

That is, until you decide to smoke. And to do so, you'll have to go back into the pub. Because here at Peabody Place mall, there is no smoking.

Let me say that again:  If you'd like to smoke, you have to go INSIDE.  No, you cannot smoke outside. You must re-enter the building-within-a-building to smoke.

Thank you for visiting Bizarro World. We hope you've enjoyed your stay!

I love the fake decor and the rude staff as much as anyone.. been here twice and both times it took forever to get food. The food is pretty ok once you actually get it. One time we actually had the waitress run after us in the parking lot (after she had ignored us for a better part of our stay there) yelling at us for only giving a 15% tip. Folks I have been to real Pubs, real Pubs don't live in a Memphis Mall.
