Neighborhood: BallardIn a nutshell, this store is totally affordable and totally cool. It's a boutiquey type of store, but as one reviewer pointed at, blessing the public with Target prices. I came in here on Sunday and lucky for my coat hunting self, they were having a 30% off everything in the store sale. This was awesome because I found a really cool creme coat and a blue coat and for both of them it was less than $90! Sssscooooore!
I would definitely recommend coming here if you are doing the Ballard stroll (no that's not a dance move) and want to pick up some unique and stylish finds and not break the bank!

Ah Ballard, where a young(ish) woman's thoughts turn to summer dresses. I've wandered into Damsalfly a few times, only to wander right out again. Damn. Because the price, she is right. But the clothes and the peoples, they are wrong.
I'm not a big fan of cheaply made clothing on the Target level. I'd rather buy it used on Ebay and have it be good quality and last more than a month or two. But sometimes a trendy schmatta is just what you need for an impromptu barbeque you got invited to at the very last minute because they didn't know you were in town and hell, you can't wear your cute green dress again because what if HE'S there. Okay. I get that. But I still think you could do better than this shop because if you pay $30, should it look like $20? I don't think so. The seams are already tattered before you take it home. My grandmother, who was a Union Seamstress, would have wept at these clothes.
Secondly, I swear the salespeople here look at me as if I'd just run over the store's beloved cat and I skinned him and wore him as a fur wrap. Just about that level of friendly hospitality. Really, they need a sign in the window that says: Nuclear Winter Zone. That would be fair warning. I don't like to be hassled, but looking up and smiling would be nice. Whenever I leave here, I feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, kicked out of the pricey Rodeo Drive store for wearing hooker boots. Actually, I feel like putting one of her hooker boots up those unfriendly asses.

This is my favorite shop in Ballard for true "girl rejuvenation". After a rough day or boring weekend, I love to stroll through the packed racks and shelves filled with gorgeous gifty items yummy soaps and candles, and darling clothes. It feels like a little SoHo hideaway with a menagerie of unique items especially the well-edited line of trendy affordable clothes! The owner and staff are super laid back (sooooooo nice to be allowed to muse around without being bugged) but as soon as you're ready for help BOOM they are there at your service.
Damsalfly is the shining star sandwiched among snobbish and overpriced boutiques whose staff bark out HELLLOOOO when you enter, then ignore you so that you can be further insulted by ridiculously overpriced stuff you can get at Nordstroms (for less).
Great job Damsalfly for keeping it real!!!!!

Hrm.. good.. almost great selection of reasonably priced apparel and jewelry, but their customer service is BUNK!
I've been in here a handful of times (maybe 10 or so) and they either a.) pay NO attention to you AT ALL! or b.) seem put out to ring you up.
I've decided not to return until I hear they've changed their tune.
Come on Damsalfly.. would it kill you to smile and say hi??!

Love this store! Boutique clothing at Target prices. However, I must agree with fellow reviewers...there is little to no customer service; not even a "hello" upon entering the store. Oh well...still worth it. If I wanted someone to kiss my ass, I'd go to Nordstrom.

I walked into Damsalfly with hopes of finding Christmas presents for my sister and roommate. I walked out of Damsalfly with a bag of presents..for myself.
Cute selection of vintage and retro clothing, though I'm guessing you could find some of their T's and hoodies elsewhere for less. Purses, jewelry, and home decor were all really reasonably priced and unique.
I wasn't greeted while I was in the store until I went to pay, but in my book that's not a big deal. They did have a big plate of cookies for the taking. That should count for something, right?

I was really disappointed in this store. I tried to take a sweater back after two days, and the store owner would only offer store credit. When I explained my partner didn't understand the terms of the sale, she just said (rather smugly) that's the way it is. I was shocked, since I am accustomed to small businesses going the extra effort to create loyal customers. I will never shop here again. I want to use small businesses, but not when they can't compete with the amazing customer service of a store like Nordstroms.

I love this store. My one beef is I'm usually just a skoche too big to fit most of the clothes. But I come in to drool over it anyway because its all so precious! And it keeps me coming back because its not as expensive as you think its going to be. This store prevents me from becoming a boring dresser. Try Damsalfly on for size, you'll love it.

I like shopping. Damsalfly is good for this. Their items are actually reasonably priced, who woulda thought? I always assume that in order to cover the cost of rent and, you know, the minimum wages most retail employees get around here, that the prices would be through the roof. They're not! Just last week I bought a skirt, a cute top, and a dress all for around $70 including tax. I almost bought a purse but that would've put me over $100 and I wasn't prepared to do that... not on my minimum wage budget, that is.
My only complaint are the dressing rooms. I understand that only two can fit in the tiny closet-of-a-store, but the dressing rooms themselves can only fit... literally your body and maybe a few hangers. They're tiny! I have a big butt! Cut me some slack here!
Oh - and they don't accept returns for a refund, only store credit... kind of a bummer but hey, I still keep going back so they must be doing something right!

How come I've never been in here? I mean, I walk this street at least three times a week! I think it's because the storefront is so small that it's easy to miss.
I'm glad I made it in this weekend cuz I found some great, unique clothes and bags here for very reasonable prices. They also have great presents for babies and kids.
This place is less snooty than some of the other boutiques in Ballard and even I can afford to shop here. Me likey.
UPDATE 1/28
I still like this place, but the customer service here deserves roughly one star. Every time I go in here I'm ignored. This weekend was a little better because I tried some things on, but I still felt like I was imposing. The only person who tried to help me was a young lady who said it was her first day there -- I hope she sticks around. I spent $100 on Saturday and they didn't even say thanks for coming. Grrrr...if they didn't have such cute things I would not want to go back.

I feel pretty, I feel pretty, I feel pretty and witty, and bright!!! All because I get to wear a cute dress and two very cute tops at Damsalfly (not all at once, of course). The front of the store is a narrow hallway full of eye candies and goodies. Want to look chic but not wear stuff that everyone else is wearing? Check here. Items range from tops to bottoms, accessories to shoes to bags to home decore. Love It.

I adore this store! Always unique and interesting items, so it's a pleasure to go back and plunder the racks every few weeks. Not to mention things are actually affordable here. My own experience with the customer service has been fine - maybe if they were pretty busy I didn't get a direct hello, but otherwise I've always been recognized and treated well.

Damsalfly is a treasure for the savvy lady in Ballard -- you never quite know what you're going to find in there, but it's sure to be fashionable, cute, and at a decent price (no small feat these days).
They have some basics and some unique items too -- I just found the cutest Suzabelle black velvet coat with hot pink piping and a multi-pink flower stitched on the front lower-left panel.

It was a brisk Sunday afternoon in Ballard. Melissa had nothing much else to do, so she perused the local fair. While happening down the street, she noticed a small boutique with a familiar name. Remembering the fond reviews from her fellow Yelpers, she decided she had a few bucks to kill.
Upon entering the store, she noted the inadequacy of it's size. With a smirk, she was reminded of a past lover of the same infliction. She pressed on, only making it two feet before confronted with a darling sundress that tugged at corner of her cold heart. She greedily grab it in several different sizes and proceeded towards the fitting rooms. The fitting rooms, she thought, more like a fitting closet. "how can anyone other than a 4 year old shopping addict function in a room of this caliber?!" But manage, she did. She wiggled into her little dress and began to struggle to get the zipper up around her bosom. She cursed with frustration before finally giving up and asking a sales associate for help. Slightly embarrassed by her blaring white legs in red argyle pirate socks, she sat there for the store to witness her battle. It took two additional people to get the zipper closed, SUCCESS! Apparently her bosom was too ample, the zipper lasted a whopping 3 seconds before splitting under the pressure.
Dejected and defeated she returned to the cramped quarters to remove her lost prize. The sales staff searched for a replacement, to no avail. But there was a light on the horizon...The sales clerk felt bad for Melissa's sad demeanor, so she offered her $10 off for the dress, lowering it to $25. That sure did make her day! What a helpful associate. She accepted the offer, and went about her day with a spring in her step and a pretty new dress for the summer

This store and I are on some kind of natural frequency. I walk in and find something I have to have. There are decor items, interesting clothes, and even soaps and original baby gifts. They should carry more small sizes.

This place looks small but is a very narrow, very long, boutique filled with clothing, toys, jewlery, hats, cool art, etc.... the girl working was on the phone with a friend the whole time, so the service is no Nordstrom service, but it is worth a browse every once in a while. They have these necklaces with little maps of Seattle or Fremont inside... kinda cool. (reasonable prices)
Damsalfly is hit or miss with me. Loved some stuff, didn't love other things. I went in here to shop for presents for my teenage daughter and didn't really find anything I just had to get. She might love some things, but she's not a frilly girly girl and some of the things fall in that category.
