So Brad and I came here for lunch yesterday because he was misinformed of a UYE. He was told it was Tuesday and its really Wednesday. I had the Los Angeles steak sandwich. It was a great twist on steak sandwich. The meat was tender and the dressing went really well with it. I got yelled at by the waiter he was at the end of the table and pointed to the napkins and was like "here". I thought that was odd but other than that a great lunch. I must say though a little pricey for lunch (my meal came to $10) but so worth it... Especially if you can afford it. :)

My favorite lunch in Westwood, no doubt. The L.A. Cheesesteak is incredible; it's cooked very nicely and has an amazing bleu cheese dressing. The barbecue salmon sandwich is also fantastic. I recommend the garlic fries, they include a house dipping sauce that reminds me of ranch but is much tastier, and they have a good selection of Sierra Nevada mustards. The atmosphere is awesome, I always sit outside on Broxton and watch people walk by. This is a great place to take a date as well as a friend from out of town.
This is our go-to for lunch if we're headed to Westwood and want to bring Simba. The patio is dog friendly. We park right across the street (2 hours free beforee 6 PM).
The food's consistently great and it makes us feel like we're eating healthy (although in good conscience there's no way that is possible). We usually get a salad (make your own) and a 1/2 sandwich w/sweet potato fries. Their balsamic steak and chicken (always white meat) are delish!
Like other Yelpers have descirbed, prices are on the high side but we don't mind because of the quality and prompt service. It's a shame the Santa Monica one closed down.

people say its pricey but i dont think it is
i didnt get this but i should have, i just got a regular sandwich with fries, but for 12.99 you can get a bowl of salad and half a sandwich and they dont restrict you can get whatever salad and whatever sandwich you like.
so i had the LA cheesesteak with the garlic fries and the sandwich i'd have to say it rivals corner bakery, corner bakery used to be the spot for posh sandwiches for me in westwood but now i am going to have reevaluate that
anyway this combo with a drink will be around 15 but totally worth it
the meat on the sandwich was cooked wonderfully and the sauce was amazing.
if you come up on the garlic fries though bring gum afterwards!
Kind of pricey but deng it's tasty. And you get a solid amount.
Do not underestimate their salads! I used to be of the opinion that ordering a salad for a meal was silly, unfortunate, and pathetic. Part of me still feels this way but even that part of me agrees that the salads at Damon And Pythias pass the test.
Not con-bints? Okay then have the sanniches. Cuz holy crap they's goot. Get a side for another buck and change. You will rejoice.
The service is informed, friendly enough, and really really fast.
I could totally see this food being served in a really fancy looking place. It's not. But it's of that caliber. Gods like to eat on Broxton.

This place is hit or miss. The dinner salmon I had was good but the lunch salmon sandwich was dry. The garlic fries and sweet potato fries are good.
It's a bit on the pricier side although I guess people in westwood are rich so it doesn't really matter much.
One of my favorite and most dependable places to eat in L.A. Now that I no longer live on the Westside, I find myself wishing they'd open one in the South Bay. I am normally a person who feels as if they need meat in their meal to feel complete, but OMG, their California Garden Sandwich is sooo good, I completely forget my old carniverous ways. That, with the curly garlic fries dipped into even more garliky sauce is just plain awesome!
The L.A. Cheesesteak Sandwich is always good too, as is my other favorite menu item, the BBQ Chicken Salad, which has just enough tanginess and spice to keep this girl happy. I also went through a long Spinch and Bacon Salad phase. I cannot say enough good things about the food here!
Even though it's totally sold out and adopted a pinkberryesque station in it's restaurant, Damon and Pythias really is food for the gods. Especially if the gods love garlic. Garlic Fries to be exact. Garlic Fries with a Garlic ranch SAUCE! YUM! My favorite is their California Veggie sandwich. It has all the best roasted veggies plus a honey mustard SAUCE. Even without cheese this sandwich is super tasty. Their Spinach and Bacon salad is pretty darn delicious too. If you like SAUCE and strong flavors, this is the place for you!
Only downfall: kinda pricey for a sandwich.

I really liked this place!! Probably one of my favorite Greek/Mediterranean restaurants....though I guess I don't really eat too much Greek/Mediterranean food. Their salmon sandwich is really good. I definitely recommend that...their salads also look pretty good and fresh, but I haven't tried any of them yet. Their garlic fries are super good too!!! Plus they give you a lot....yummm I love garlic fries. Maybe stinky but oh well!! Garlic is good for you! (Not sure about the fries part but oh well...) Plus if you have a college discount card (free for UCLA kids...you just had to sign up sometime near the beginning of the school year on Bruinwalk) you can get a side of fries free with any sandwich. :D

The sandwiches here are to die for. I went for the grilled portobello mushroom with fresh mozzarella; I added a side of onion rings. Absolutely delicious. It was so filling I could only finish half. The natural cut garlic fries were tops as well.
The prices are a bit steep, but considering you get two meals out of the deal, it's not a rip off.
Minus one star for presenting itself as a Greek restaurant, but lacking any sort of Greek items. I was rip-shit when I saw they didn't have Greek salad, gyros, or anything with Feta cheese.
**after thought**
This place has a stupid-ass name, yes? "Food for the God's" Seriously? Seriously? Could such a pretentious name reek any stronger of douchebaggery?

The BBQ salmon sandwich is good, but it really didn't need the BBQ sauce on it. In fact, it shouldn't even be an option. It's just wrong. Nice garlic fries. And, no, I don't think D&P's is quite deserving of the subtitle "Food For the Gods."
Good to know: the Broxton garage across the way has two hours free parking.
I haven't eaten here in a while, but it's easily my... second-favorite restaurant in Westwood.
Sandwiches are great. Highly recommend the salmon - it's crispy, tender and juicy. The steak sandwich is decent too, but be sure to medium-rare it.
Price is reasonable, atmosphere is relaxed. Get the garlic fries only if you plan on staying home the rest of the day.
I didn't know this was a chain, but apparently they have on in Santa Monica as well.

i guess the gods must be financially well off if they can afford eating here on a regular basis (note: if any of you gods up there have any extra cash to spare, please send some way, i promise i'll believe in you and won't doubt your existence anymore)
i can't really complain about prices, though; my BFF Zeus treated me here for lunch one day. Helios was supposed to join us but didn't have much of an appetite after being hungover. it was nice sitting outside on the balcony and eating our sandwiches, and sharing our fries while gossiping about how Apollo caught Calypso in bed with Aphrodite the week before. that floozy!
I can't really comment much on the food since i'm not a god myself, i'll defer my judgement over to Zeus, if I could ever convince him to join yelp.

This place is always good. Great sandwiches, great salads, and really good dessert. The only problem is that there is a lot of other good food in the area (now including Chipotle) so its rare that I end up here. But when I do, I'm always happy.

D&P ain't bad. It's not terribly expensive and the sandwiches and salads taste good. They tend to overcook the meat, though. If you want your steak medium rare, make sure you make that clear.
It costs less than CPK (up the street) while you seem to get a lot more for what you pay for. You seat yourself so you don't have to pay extra for waiter service either.
I usually get a side of garlic fries with extra ranch (just ask them) for dipping. Warning: stay away from me afterwards.

We used to get take out from D&P at my work a few years back and I remember it being great every time. I went into the place for the first time last week and the food was good, but a little pricey. The turkey sandwich was made with carved turkey (not deli meat) and it tasted like it had just been roasted. The ambiance is a lot more casual than the food--they could stand to class up the place a bit.

Man, this place has gone downhill. I LOVED it as an undergrad when it first opened it 2001 (or 2002?): California cobb salad, steak sammy, and garlic curly fries - YUM! It was well worth over $10 for a casual meal. There were several times I craved that Cali Cobb when I was up in SF. When I moved back I would go periodically but somehow it was never the same - I figured I had just grown out of the foods of my youth. It wasn't until yesterday that I realized it was them, not me. The ingredients used are not of the same quality, the salad was not prepared with care and was DRENCHED in dressing, and the service was lackluster. Plus, now they have some weird generic pinkberry frozen yogurt thing which just seems strange. Definitely not worth this poor grad student's $12. Bummer. At least I have chipotle to ease the pain ...
2 words: garlic fries. damon and pythias make great garlic fries and they're generous in portions. but be warned--they are quite pungent in odor. once i shared garlic fries with my roomie and when our friend picked us up she told us we stunk--she had to roll down the windows. i kid you not.
other than that, they have pretty good salads and sandwiches--nothing spectacular but still very good. it has nice outdoor and indoor seating, but can get super crowded around dinner and lunch. i loved this place in undergrad--great place to catch a bite and meet up with friends.
like some other yelpers, i too was deceived for years thinking this was a greek restaurant. when i finally ate here, i quickly found it was just another salad and sandwich place with no greek ties. so don't be fooled by the name and appearance!

also their LA cheese steak sandwich and Turkey sandwich is yummmmmeh.
Overall I think this place is a bit too expensive. However the food is really pretty good and fresh.
The turkey sandwich is awesome. If your in the area walk over and try one.

Amazing salads, very reasonable prices, fast and friendly service, definitely one of the better places to eat in Westwood.
I've tried the Fresh Spinach and Bacon Salad, Southwest Steak Salad, and the BBQ Chicken Salad, California Garden Salad, all of which were delicious. Also, their garlic fries are TO DIE FOR, and if you order them as a separate side, they give you MOUNTAIN-full.
HOWEVER. If you're ever thinking about ordering their grilled asparagus as a separate side, don't do it. For 5 bucks, they literally give you 5 wimpy, shriveled up asparagus sticks. Yeah I know asparagus is expensive, but SERIOUSLY?? Hell no.
GARLIC FRIES, FTW.

The food here is consistently good and tastes fresh. Can get pretty crowded during lunch time, though. Only thing that I regret eating here is the spinach salad because bacon dressing is just all sorts of wrong. Oh god, I'm feeling sick just thinking about it...
But everything else is cool, cool, cool. Eat up!

I heart this place.
If I could eat here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I would.
I love their cobb salad, strawberry steak salad ( no more steak for me/im a vegetarian now), portabello mushroom sandwich, garlic fries( not good if you're going to make out with someone thereafter), grilled asparagus, make your own salad, and lots more.
I like the food here, I don't know why. It's just good. I love fries and ranch dressing.
i love this place!! they have the most amazing salads and garlic curly fries. you must must try!
i discovered this place while i was going to UCLA, and the thing i love most is how fresh everything is...you can also create your own salads from a variety of toppings, greens, meats, etc. i've also had their ribs which were mehh..i would stick with any of their sandwiches and salads. the prices are reasonable...especially if you're a poor college student.
I love Damon and Pythias. The only problem is I've never tried anything other than the steak salad because I like it so much. They cook the steak to order---and they understand what "medium rare" means. The salads are huge. Even the smaller size could feed you for two meals.
Absolutely wonderful salad and sandwiches.
Recommended: I forgot the exact name, but it's a salad with steak, strawberry, and caramelized walnut
You order at the counter, they give you a number, you get your own drink, and the staff brings your food + silverware to where ever you decided to sit.
I've been here on multiple occasions and the food has always been consistent.
The Southwest Steak Salad is the best salad on the menu with a generous serving of meat.
I don't like their sandwiches as much. I found the turkey sandwich to be a bit dry. The BBQ Salmon sandwich was decent. The Cali Garden Sandwich was a bit bland.
If you're craving Thanksgiving food and it's not November, get the Turkey Dinner. The mashed potatoes are perfect. You must get the garlic fries as a side. They are cut on the thin side and have a ton of flavor.
Street parking +pay lots in the Westwood Village area. There is a parking garage across the street and it's got (I think) free 2 hour parking in the afternoons. The garage definitely charges at night.

Here is the deal, the place has lacked something for the last few years. I agree but let me tell you. I dare you to find a better Strawberry Steak Salad. It's orgasmic.
The food is expensive. I ended up spending $15 on one piece of teriyaki salmon. It wasn't really worth my money, but it was ok. The environment was cool, laid back because it's mainly college students that eat there.
The food here is regularly good. I really like their LA Cheesesteak sandwich...but their prices have gone up a bit much. I still plan on going back though!!!

My first outing to Damon and Pythias is still the most memorable.
"I'd like to order the Turkey Club sandwich with a side of the delicious garlic fries that everyone seems to enjoy here."
"Would you like white or dark meat in that?"
"...Wait. Wha-wha-what did you say?"
"Would you like white or dark meat in that?"
"Umm...well...umm...I wasn't aware you actually used real turkey and let me choose the type of meat I want. I thought it would have been just some cold cut turkey from a deli or something. My bad for not coming here before. Let me look stupid here for a minute longer while I debate between white meat and dark meat."
And I did just that. Looked stupid while debating between white meat and dark meat, that is. And because of that, I've been going here ever since. If your sandwiches actually use real turkey to to the point where know what part of the bird it came from? It MUST be good.

The food is good but not really worth the price you pay for a pay-at-the-counter (i pay about $13 for a vegetarian sandwhich and soda)
This place has really good salads and sandwiches if you are looking for something light. Entrees are about $8-10. Went here for lunch with an out of town friend that used to go to UCLA. We were supposed to go to Chinese Chicken Cafe but that was closed on Sundays =( I liked sitting outside on their patio and people watching. Apparently the Farmer's market has been moved to Broxton St. on Sundays. You can park in the lot across the street which is free for 2 hours. Otherwise parking sucks in Westwood. And the portions are pretty big too.

Whatever I've gotten at this place has always made my stomach happy. Their sandwiches are delicious - just the right amount of sauce to taste healthy, not smothered. It might be pricier than a Quizno's, say, but the quality is well worth it.
I recommend the California Garden Sandwich and the BBQ Salmon. Oh, and garlic curly fries. Did I say MMMMMM.... already?
Five stars because they didn't throw away the very sweet card that A.T. got me when I foolishly left it behind. The food was pretty good too.

I have been here more times than necessary to form a solid opinion about this place. It's average. Just plain average. Granted, the type of food they serve is somewhat difficult to come across, but it's not prepared as well as it could be. Also, now there's a Berrybest stand in the restaurant which is just plain WEIRD. I actually gave Berrybest 5 stars, but its presence makes Damon and Pythias look like a construction mishap.
Food: The turkey sandwiches are dry no matter what kind of meat you get. I like the use of cranberries in many of the dishes, but if you've already screwed up the meat, game over. The garlic fries are good only if you are a fan of raw garlic. It's not grilled or roasted in any way. Just chopped and mixed with some cilantro and tossed generously on curly fries. The best items on the menu are ironically the Carnivore and the create your own salad. The Carnivore consists of several types of grilled meat including (if I'm not mistaken) big 'ol chunks of flank steak. Sounds yummy right? Unfortunately this is also somewhat dry. If you create your own salad you can choose from spinach leaves, romaine, weeds (probably the best), and top it off with a number of things including walnuts, salmon, other types of meat, etc. This is probably the best value, but only if you're a fan of salad.
Decor: Pretty much destroyed by Berrybest. There's a generously large patio outside, but some of the tables straddle this weird incline that can become irksome as your chair and tables constantly rock during the meal. The interior has a tv that usually features sports and you can often catch Bruins games here.
Service: Pretty standard. Nothing to complain about.

Disappointing.
I think my memory is failing me at age 24. I remembered Damon and Pythias oh so fondly, and so I braved the hellacious situation that is Westwood traffic and parking today to go back to this spot. It wasn't worth the trouble, I didn't think.
First of all, they were out of sweet potato fries, which are their sure fire make-the-customer-happy food.
The lettuce was limp and warm. I like mine chilled, crunchy, or at least somewhat perky.
The tables were all bent up and cracked. I'd prefer my table clean and, well, usable.
They've added a ridiculous, clunky looking self-serve yogurt stand in the back of the restaurant. I'd rather not deal with yet another attempt at knocking off Pinkberry while I eat.
I'm sad that it's not as good as it used to be. That means my only reason to go and visit Westwood is Noodle Planet. Reason enough.

You must get the garlic curly fries. They are awesome! Nice and fresh, curly and garlicy, nothing can compare! As if there wasnt enough garlic already on these fries, they also give you a garlic dip for reinforcement.
I used to get the cheesesteak sandwhich here, but I could never finish even half. It's pretty good though. Salads are really good here too.
Prices are decent, staff is friendly. Parking is a bit hard, being how its in Westwood.
Bathroom sucks. The hallway is creepy.

If you haven't already figured it out by the other 58 reviews.....GARLIC FRIES!!!
These fries are so yummy dipped in their Greek "ranch" dressing that I am willing to overlook the fact that their meats are sometimes dry.
Portions are humongous. Salads, sandwiches and entrees can feed three (ok, three really small people) and a kid's meal can almost feed two.
This place is great for a quick, somewhat inexpensive meal. The ambience is neither here nor there, although they do have an outside patio. We Californians need our sun!
But sometimes I just come for the GARLIC FRIES ordered to-go.
