Review from Delya S.
This is a restaurant in the interior courtyard of a Best Western and so it's lacking in some ambiance. Don't hold it against Damasco's! The food is top notch. It's a favorite of my co-workers.
I've enjoyed a seafood salad prepared with darker greens and a light dressing. That was excellent. Their creamy tomato soup has to high(er) calorie. But, damn, if it isn't worth it! The veggie wrap is tasty. We've shared garlic fries for the table. Those are addictive. We were literally scraping the plate for bits of garlic topping. When catching breakfast there once, the chef accommodated my request to make their breakfast burrito vegetarian and lower carb. (To good effect!) Their salsa is compulsively good.
The servers are so friendly.

We spent one night in Patterson on our way home from Seattle to San Diego. Where to eat? We drove into town where the local restaurant had no patrons so we went back to the Best Western where we were staying and had dinner at Damasco's. We were told by the waiter that he and his brother had opened the restaurant 2 years ago after a failing Las Vegas economy motivated them to open this restaurant. He was very polite, courteous and efficient.
Our food was the big surprise. By the time we sat down I didn't care what we ate and didn't expect much, but to my surprise the steak with grilled broccolini and "smashed" red potatoes was delicious. My husband got the house special, spaghetti and meatballs. It was also very delicious.
Good luck to these young men who are working hard to make a go of the restaurant.
I did suggest they invest in some candles and decorative screens to separate the tables which would help with the ambience and not cost too much. -

Long wait to receive food. Seems like there's only 1 cook. Good size portion for the cost, presentation looks nice......now the taste. Chicken over cooked as I ate it the chicken had a bitter burnt taste where the grill marks were that killed the Cesar taste. Due to that I ate it w/o the chicken.

Since 2 of these reviews are obviously fake (only 1 review on each profile) and 1 seems to be overly-critical from an out-of-towner, allow me to be the first person to post a REAL review of Damasco.
I live in town and have tried many of the restaurants in the area. My wife and I decided to try Damasco for the first time last night. It's a restaurant right in the courtyard of the hotel where you can see all the doors to the rooms. At first it was a bit off-putting but I got used to it fast.
The ambiance of the place is actually very nice but is slightly ruined on the outskirts due to the florescent lighting of the hallways. I got a very Olive Garden kinda feel. It's a nice place to go if you're looking for a very quiet evening.
They scored well with me right off the bat as they actually had some very good beers on tap such as Fat Tire, Widmer Hefeweizen, and Blue Moon; no Budweiser in sight, thank goodness. I went with the Blue Moon and the Mrs. got a dirty vodka martini which she enjoyed.
Now to the food. I got the Sausage & Peppers pasta and the wife got the Fish & Chips. I actually ordered the pasta with the intention of removing most of the peppers but to my surprise they were thoroughly cooked and thus very soft (I dislike raw peppers). The Sausage was spicy (just the way I like it) and hearty, and the bowtie pasta is always a fun touch. I ate the whole thing, enjoyed it, and felt very full afterwards. The Mrs. gave me a bite of her fish which I also liked, and the fries were the big, wedge style and had a lot of flavor.
I have to admit that I'm a bit surprised that a soup or salad was not included with the pasta (it costs $2 extra) but they did give us complimentary bread.
We were one of only two tables in the place so we got very speedy attentive service. Even the cook himself brought out our entrees.
As this was only our first visit, we haven't had a chance to sample other foods on the menu (nor any dessert), but I would make a return visit to try some of the other cuisine. While I don't think I would go so far as to call the food "fine," we certainly enjoyed our meals.
On the way out, we made use of the massage chair in the hotel lobby, which was a nice end to the experience. -

Our very good friends retired and moved to Patterson last year and we finally drove down from WA state to visit and see their new house. We arrived on Easter Sunday and were staying in the Best Western (they allow dogs there, which is why we didn't stay with our friends - new carpets, you know - and our fella's a senior with not-so-good bladder control - though he did tremendous in the hotel room). Yes, I'm a rambler :)
We asked our friends to meet us for dinner downstairs in Damasco. They had actually recommended the Best Western based on this restaurant. They come often for breakfast and said the food was good. And it was. Everything was very flavorful, but I, too, thought it strange that salads or soups didn't come with the meal. And we were too full for desert - coffee was delicious!
And we had breakfast a few days later before we headed out of town. I had the Kaluha French toast - killer. Absolutely loved that dish.
Gourmet? No. Trying to be, but falls a little short. But, the food is very, very good for the price - having a full bar was nice, too. Service was also very good. -

I recently read a book that contained the joke, "When in doubt, cover it with cheese." Unfortunately, it looks like Damasco read the same book and took the joke literally.
Damasco is located in the lobby of the Best Western, pretty much the last place you would expect a fine dining restaurant. I've stayed in the Patterson Best Western several times on business, and have eaten at Damasco a total of 4 times.
The first time I had dinner was mid summer, and it was a record-breaking hot day. I ordered Shrimp Scampi, which was described as shrimp sauteed in a light butter and lemon sauce and served over pasta. Sounded like the perfect light dish for a hot day! What arrived was a few perfectly cooked shrimp and pasta drowning in butter and shallots. After picking at it, I decided to order dessert, a lemon-blueberry cheesecake that sounded interesting. The server came out to tell me that the chef had cut into the cheesecake and realized it was not set correctly.....oookay.....so I ordered Apricot Beignets. The beignets arrived and looked wonderful. But once I bit in, I was shocked. While beignets are normally light and fluffy, these were very dense and rubbery with no apricot flavor whatsoever.
My second dinner, I decided to avoid any pasta dishes and order something simple that couldnt be too fussed with: Steak and a baked potato, served with corn. My salad arrived first, covered in grated parmesan cheese. Then came bread, also covered in grated parm. Then came my dinner. The steak was smothered in melted gorgonzola cheese. The baked potato was also covered with a scoop of butter and sour cream, and the corn was cooked in bacon, cream, butter AND parmesan. Wow...
After eating part of this heavy meal, I wanted something lighter to finish with. I ordered the Roasted Apricot Sorbet, which looked harmless enough.....but was so sickeningly sweet I could not get beyond 2 spoonfuls.
Damasco has potential to be a good restaurant, but for these prices, you would expect better quality food with less fuss and better flavor. -

I was not expecting this awesome dining experience from a hotel establishment. The service was fast, friendly and very attentive. We took my daughter for her birthday and it was one of the best dinners ever! Highly recommend the beet salad!

We came to eat with friends at this restaurant last night because we'd been there before and the good was good. Well, when we got there we received the worst service I have ever experienced! Upon arriving we saw that the dining room was full. We assumed it'd be a bit of a wait so we waited patiently to be noticed at the host table. After a few minutes a man raced by and yelled from across the room, "hey, just a minute!" Then he rushed over to us, looked around the room frantically and said, "I don't know if we have any room for you. Hold on. Oh..." (then he ran off and waved for us to follow). We said, "we have four in our party." He then responded as though he was very annoyed, "oh, yeah, you're going to have to wait. There's no tables." And almost simultaneously he was darting off again! We were appalled at this treatment. I've NEVER not even been asked "how many in your party!" Needless to say, we drove up the hill and enjoyed a delicious dinner at diablo grande by chef scott. Too bad damasco...our party paid THEM a hefty check and tipped extra because they did their job! Also, we were pretty ticked off at damasco and we're so happy to have found a lovely dinner spot that rectified the almost disastrous evening! In case this happens to be read by an owner or manager....the evening was april 16, at about 7:20pm. it was a grown man with short dark hair. Didn't catch his name, he never introduced himself. Tried to call and talk to a manager and was magically disconnected. Sorry, you were given two chances, we will not be back.
