Review from Andrew C.

I discovered the Daly Creek Winery & Bistro just looking for a place between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque to eat. Quite a serendipitous find.
We started dinner with the baked brie appetizer, had the Winemaker's Reserve Cabernet wine, and ate the Tuscan meatloaf, coconut tilapia, pork medallions (special), and Iowa Angus steak for dinner. We then shared the Dark Tower for dessert. All of the food was excellent, and we'd recommend any of those dishes above.
The service was excellent, with suggestions and attention as often as we needed. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, and managed the small dining room easily.
The facilities were cozy and warm. They have a nice-looking outdoor eating area (obviously not open in late December). My wife peeked in the kitchen when walking to the restroom and noticed that it was very clean and orderly, which is always nice to know. The gift shop has just a small assortment of wine- or Anamosa-related merchandise, but was pretty neat.
They also offer wine tastings in the gift shop; I wish we had done that before eating so we'd know which wine to order with dinner... and whether we'd want to buy any others to take home. Off the back, one can see a room with wine storage and some tables; we were told they host private parties in there.
The wine itself was quite good; I'm not a connoisseur, but the Cabernet was good, bold but not strong, and had a slightly sweet taste. Unfortunately we didn't taste any others, but they had six or so available for purchase in the gift shop and at least that many behind the counter available for tasting.
This is definitely a place we'd enjoy going back to, and we will likely plan a trip there when in the Dubuque area again. -

I just love this place!! The lobster crisp is a wonderful appetizer! Many times I just go to have a wonderful glass of Virgo Moon and the warm bread with olive oil dip. When the weather is nice out, it is a perfect place to eat outside and feel like you are at a special place.

The food here is top notch and being able to sample wine in the gift shop before dinner is wonderful idea. However, the wine is very bitter and it was tough to find anything that didn't remind me of cough medicine. I admit to being a novice when it comes to wine but several friends who are much more into wine have tried this place and their impression was much the same.
