Wow, am I disappointed with the Dallas library system. The sign in the front says that the library is 25 years old, and I really hope I didn't look that old at 25. It's dark, dingy, the collection is old and services are sorely lacking.
Never thought I'd say Orlando, Florida did something well, but boy did I take the library for granted.  Home delivery, books on CD, audio downloads, computers and instruction were aplenty. My local branch was a hot spot. Moms met for storytime (standing room only) every week and grabbed a cup of coffee in the cafe afterwards. We looked forward  to this weekly ritual.
I am sorely disappointed in Dallas. I read there is a 32 million dollar budget plus lots of bond money, but where exactly is that going? With 22 branches to share the wealth, we should be seeing some top-of-the-line jaw-dropping services. Where are they? I'd like a hand in spending all that money, and making the Fretz Park Public library look more like 2008 than 1980.
Sad, sad, sad.....
