I came here out of the blue because I loved coming to Daiso stores. This particular store is much larger than the one @ Eastridge, which I loved of course. I see a few other people here shopping for the simple things also.
I came here for some re-usable grocery bags and among other things. Absolutely coming back :] -

First Daiso I've ever been to :D
It is in the same plaza as Trader Joes.
Almost everything is $1.50. Of course you get what you pay for, some items are more nicely made than others. You can find things from slippers, to dishes, make-up, snacks, plastic kitchen items, pens, and gift boxes.
This place has never been packed with people, maybe its because I've only come on the weekdays?
They accept credit cards but with a minimum purchase I believe. -
Review from Olivia L.
The store is huge, empty, and has everything for $1.50 (almost everything). Anything remotely useful can be had here for very little money -- but not the American brands, the Japanese discount store version (just as useful)! I extra love the cute dishware (so much cheaper than the discount supply stores in SF).
I'd been looking for a wooden dish rack (the standing type, with pegs) for pot lids in the cabinet -- I'd been to Ikea and a bunch of discount stores -- and couldn't find something in the right length. Well, one trip to Daiso, and ding! Done and done.
Word to the wise: Choose your stuff carefully because there are no returns! -
Review from Karin H.
I'm a big Daiso fan. Where else can you buy so many things for $1.50? It's like a Japanese "dollar" store. I love their tea selection. Recently I purchased a green tea with roasted rice. It's a very mellow green tea with a nutty finish.
With the holiday around the corner, this is a great place to shop for stocking stuffers or for small gifts. There's something for everyone.
They also have a nice assortment of fashionable reusable bags for only $1.50. -

Everything is $1 - $2. It's big and there's an endless supply of crap in here that you absolutely need.

Japanese $1 store what more can you ask for! It is everything you imagine from a Japanese $1 store and more. I bought household items, gifts and even food! You can get something for everyone here. I will be back here when I'm in town!!
BTW it's a fun place to burn time. -

All Sales Final?? Definitely does not stop me from leaving Daiso with bags full of things! Banana saver? Mini-notepads with Engrish telling me to "be happy friends forever"? Double eyelid tape? Scary looking hand-held massage apparatuses? A garden gnome? Lucky cat figurines in all sizes, shapes & colors? WHY NOT! I love this place.
Don't forget to pick up a couple of bags of Hi-Chew, they're the best! -
Review from Cat H.
This store is great! Many of the items are $1.50 unless otherwise marked and there's just so many items here. The store itself is neat and organized so it's not hard to spend time perusing the aisles. They have lots of household items, office supplies, candy, makeup, greeting cards, origami paper, etc.
I came in looking for a small, soft case for one of my electronics. I found a nice zippered one for just a dollar-fifty. Score! The quality of the stuff isn't too shabby either, so for such cheap prices I can't complain. Ten bucks can buy you plenty of stuff here.
$5 minimum for credit card purchases, all sales final -

Daiso, oh Daiso, you break my heart.
They used to carry useful, well made Japanese dollar store items: good quality and so cute.
Now it's all crude Chinese made crap.
(Watch out for lead and other toxins!!)
I love how they say "NO RETURNS" after you buy the stuff.
So turn that item over and check for the "Made in China" label first! -
Review from Tanya N.
Daiso is a hodge podge of stuff from brooms, snacks, school supplies, knitting material to makeup. Everything in here is $1.50 unless otherwise stated on the price sticker. A number of things are $1.50 so it's unlike the sale rack at some stores that lures you in with the "$20 plus" sign and everything on the rack is $50.
I love it here - it's a great place to stock up on kitchen items such as bowls and cups. All their storage items, garbage bins etc are all colourful so if you're looking for neutral colours your not really going to find it here. But what's wrong with some colour in your life?
I'm a fan - yeah, yeah!Listed in: Mountain View - My New…, I Want to Cook

It's a Japanese dollar (ok $1.50) store. They've got tons of interesting items from dishes to storage items to food to clothes to completely random items. As the Japanese don't tend to have tons of space in their houses, the items they sell can be pretty compact. Which is nice, because I have a hard time finding good compact items elsewhere.

Such a fun place! I usually go for the kitchen stuff, ranging from table top porcelain dishes, to cooking utensils, small bakeware and supplies, and some of the cutest and most versatile containers and organizers for anything and everything. Prices typically run from $1.50 - $3 for most of the things I want. My favorite deal is getting packets of 90 Melita style coffee filters for my one cup maker for $1.50. Also here you'll find cleaning supplies and products, beauty items, desk and stationery stuff, some snack food items, miscellaneous decorations, and more. Go and have fun!

I love Pocky. It's like Pocky heaven. They even got that white rabbit candy and who could forget buddha's sweet rice paper covered confection of joy? In the joyous old days, we got toys, now we get ugly stickers.
They have a lot of "only in Japan" bizarro contraptions such as the cat door mat to keep cats away. They have other choose-your-pick-$2.99 gadgets as well. I wanted to buy a decent sized bowl that was microwaveable and didn't break the bank.
You may want to not neglect the back of Daiso where some of the gardening or other toolware/laundry stuff resides.
On the PC/wiring front, Daiso seems to have a decent selection of tie wraps and other devices designed to minimize network wire clutter. In many cases our best buys ... weren't at Fry's. D:
It's all in good fun, Daiso is, but they also sell stuff that I would actually benefit from owning and using.
ALL SALES FINAL! -

Great prices at this Japanese dollar and a half store. They have almost everything you could want. They have a great selection of housewares. Stationery section is average. Nail polish is dismal.
Service, however, is very subpar. Might have been because I went late at night, but I could hardly find someone to help me find what I needed... -
Review from May W.
I had a lot of fun walking up and down the aisles in search of some $1.50 treasures. I left with a pack of miniature-sized wooden clips and a fobby red car accessory pouch. It took a lot of self-control not to spend more than $4 at Daiso because it had so many cool things. I saw a lot of cute kitchenware and stationery that I had to resist purchasing. I know for a fact that I spent 5 minutes debating whether or not to purchase these really adorable gift bags from the gift bag section. It was hard to hang them back up, but I made it out without doing too much damage to my wallet.
The next time I am up in Mtn. View, I am definitely stopping by Daiso (and the Trader Joe's in the same plaza)! Even if I don't get anything from there, it's still a great way to spend 30 minutes of my time on a lazy Sunday afternoon. -

I really love this store. I occasionally go to the Japantown location too, but the Mountain View store is a lot bigger. Everything is $1.50 and how can you not love randomly cute Asian knick knacks? There are a lot of useful things to get from Daiso if you think you're only going to use it once or twice in a blue moon and don't want to spend big bucks at an American retailer.
Amazingly for $1.50 a lot of the items are decent quality. When I first moved into the area with my husband we had to buy some dishes to tie us over until out stuff arrived and the quality of the ceramic bowls and plates is actually pretty decent. I was afraid they'd be chipping or fading within a few weeks, but a year later and they're still going strong. The school supplies are nice too. I'm really particular about my writing utensils and Daiso actually has decent quality ones for cheap when I used to buy disposable pens from Staples that cost about $4 ea.
It's not a regular shopping spot, but if I am looking for something kind of random I go to Daiso first to see if they have something I can use. The store clerks are usually nice and are willing to help check for product availability if needed. -

I like Daiso--cute stuff for cheap, $1.5 for most of the stuff!
I'm glad that they have one close to my house, and it of course become one of my favorite location for after-dinner walk, or just to hang out when I'm bored.^^
All their sales are final--since I don't like to return stuff anyway, it's not a big deal for me.Listed in: Home Sweet Home

Tear up that Target shopping list, drop by Diaso first, it's almost free! Well, a buck 50 each anyway. CASH ONLY, FINAL SALE ON EVERYTHING! Special items may be more than 1.50.
I've passed up this place many times, spending less than 30 seconds looking around. At first all you might see is junk! Wrapped up with some foreign packaging and you don't even know what it is!
Never fear, I'm hear to show you good times and for only a buck 50!!!
Kitchen storage and gadgets
Knives, snack containers, bento boxes ($15-$20 elsewhere)
bento cutters
fingernail cutters, great design for tiny hands
miscellaneous veggie and fruit cutters/decorators
sandwhich shapers
baskets that stack inside drawers for all that junk you hoard
oragami paper
egg cutters
pancake mold
baking gear (no cupcake makers or anything like that)
cookie cutters
plastic cups, tin snack boxes, lunch box gear
What didn't work
so far, none of the cleaning sponges or cleaners work as they claim
food, tasted kinda stale
makeup, way below expectation
They bring in new items all the time so if you didn't see it at the store today, it might be there tomorrow.
This branch is probably one of the better organized cheap stores around. You won't have trouble figuring out where to look for that elusive gizmo. -

I prefer to shop as Daiso over other dollar stores. This location is very clean and organized and I always fine something to buy when I am in here. The only thing I didn't like was the parking which was limited because of Trader Joe's and Walmart. I am not sure if it is like this just for the holidays.

I love Daiso for its cheap Japanese products: kitchen items, bathroom stuff, home stuff, office supplies, etc. It is like 99 cents store, except that their products are way much better. Mostly everything is a buck-fifty. The only thing is that most labels are in Japanese characters, so if you don't know Japanese, like me, you have to just figure what the thing is for, but then again mostly everything is pretty obvious what it is: like a plate, a laundry bag, etc.
I was glad when I found this one near me. And usually I would have to go all the way to Daly City or San Jose just to shop at one. -

Review from Margo G.
This place is worse than Target. You go in for one thing and come out with things you didn't even know you wanted but somehow desperately needed. 1st time here was an adventure. We wanted plastic soup spoons that have a lip on the handle so you can place them on your bowl without them falling in. Someone said they should have them at Daiso.
Walking up and down each aisle, almost looking at every single item was exhausting! The kitchen section alone was like going to Disneyland. It is a small world after all. I wanted the bento boxes just because they were cute. I wanted chopsticks because they looked cool. I wanted clear plastic containers because they were new. Melamine sponges because they were in bulk. Then the honey reminds me that we have Tupperware, Glad, Pyrex, chopsticks and magic erasers at home. Boo.
Then I found the cosmetics section. I wanted lashes, makeup, face masks and other stuff that I had no idea what it was because it was all in Japanese but the packaging looked cool! Again, the honey reminds me that I have all this stuff and more at home. At least I know where to come if I need a hyaluronic acid face mask for $1.50.
I can't really figure out what they don't have in this store. I saw home goods, health care items, stationary, cosmetics, car, kitchen, picnic, purse, luggage, and a bunch of other sections. I didn't have the energy to go through it all.
Unfortunately they didn't have the spoons we were looking for. But I did get clear mascara, a fork with a clear carrying case, 300 blotting papers, plastic office containers, and some other stuff. I don't think we paid over $3.00 for a single item.
I have already decided that all Christmas gifts this year will come from this store. Lucky for you if you are on my list!
There are no refunds, returns or exchanges. You wrap and bag your own items. -

I wasn't even planning on Yelping this place since I covered the Serramonte location already, but when I saw the soap section, I knew I had to.
Never saw these kinds of soap before:
Green Tea Soap
Black Bean Soap
Soy Milk Soap
Pearl Soap
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
A wacky
SAKE (Ginjo!!!!) soap
and next to it was....
NATTO SOAP
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
I shit you not....NATTO, aka fermented, sticky stinky soybeans. It's got some great benefits when you EAT them, but a SOAP? Oh wow.
The best part? Strips of label paper near the edge, explaining the (generic) benefits of these flavored soaps.
The pearl soap was "It will make your skin smooth"
Natto Soap "It will make your skin moist"
Yeah
but you'll be gooey, sticky, and smell like SH*T! Apparently in French, the appropriate comment would be "Ca sens la merde!"
What happens when you use Natto Soap first, then Pearl Soap?
You'll be gooey, sticky, smell like SH*T but hell yeah you'll be all shiny and pearly*!
All these for about a buck to a buck fifty a piece!!! After all, Daiso is a dollar store... Don't quote me on the price, I'm just guessing. I was more amused by the flavors!
Any guess when the MAGURO SASHIMI Soap is coming? I mean if you're gonna be sticky, gooey, stinky, you might as well smell like a fish too! Of course, you know that maguro + natto go together right? With soy sauce and mustard or wasabi and a ton of scallions?Listed in: The people have spoken! ROTDs…

Daiso: Japan's #1 Livingware Store!
Most items $1.50!!
So boldly screams the big banner welcoming me to my a grand adventure inside Daiso. The most "expensive" thing here is marked at a little over $10, and it's car related.
Here are some treasures I've found at Daiso that found a loving home with me: (http://i34.tinypic.com...) bento box, 5 chopsticks (this is why Kuya Walter took away my Filipino card), fake eyelashes, Pocky!!, shrimps chips, milk chocolate, sunshade since my windows aren't tinted, Mardi Gras masks, puppy and hamster themed tissue, veggie cutters in heart and star shapes, bento box wraps, Hi-Chew, etc.
There's so many things here! Cooking utensils, hats, $2 neckties, knock off bags, good quality make-up, snacks, costumes for Halloween, charcoal face wash!, Tupperware (for all you Filipinos out there), notebooks, calligraphy sets, and tons tons tons more. Lots of useless and useful things for cheap, and a lot of great buy.
Bought 30 items here and totaled to $50. Do your math and that's about $1.66 per item. Not bad! The service here is great too, but they make you bag your own stuff. -

WTH is everyone all excited about here? This is freakin Japanese dollar store! I ventured here with Mika one day. Big turn off for me because I never heard about this store. My first expectation was something like a Pier 1 imports or World Market. We drove by it and walked right in. After 20 minutes or so, we left.
Okay... after posting this review I didn't realize how many frugal shoppers there are! So i'm adding one more star for all ya'll! -

I'm so addicted to this store!
Since my trip to Japan, I've already made a couple of visits here, with happy endings! :)
This place has all kinds of knick knacks and interesting finds for everyone, you will never come out empty-handed. Whether you are looking for dishware, storage items, arts and crafts, cosmetics, pet supplies, plant care, cleaning supplies, clothing, or anything that comes to mind, you'll find it here!
Best part of all, most items are $1.50! I'll be back for sure and have yet to check out the Cupertino store.
I gave it four stars because I'm not too keen on buying 'slightly beyond best by date' or expired food items. -

At Daiso, you will most certainly die one of 3 ways.
1) From shock at how much you can buy for $20.
2) In hysteria from laughing at all the great Engrish ("Look it's a CREAMING pad ftw!")
3) From oxygen deprivation; the place reeks of plastic and I can almost feel the sublimating polymeric molecules inhaled and attach to my bronchioles.
It's like a game--cheating dyspnea and certain death--seeing how long I can stand the fumes before I pass out or get delirious and convince myself I need a Bad Batz Maru trashcan for every room in my home. Fortunately, I got out of there with only a skimmer (for shabu shabu), a rice spatula, some magnets, and a soapdish.
They make you bag things yourself which is odd.Listed in: Beat the Recession Depression

Daiso... talk about a fun/cool/cute store! It's cute in the 'Japanese' cute kinda way... even the guys stuff is cute! I had heard about this place from about a million people before I finally made it to see what all the talk was about. It did not disappoint.
Need cute gifts/plates/decorations/make-up/sake glasses/clothes/purses/dog toys/tape/socks/plants/stationary/kitchen strainers/organizer shelfs/laundry hampers/food.... *inhale* then DAISO is your place! Not everything is 1.50 but it's all cheap!
I'll definitely be back! -
Review from Seong P.
There used to be a 99 cent store by Frank's Deli (RIP), and my sister and I, in our St. Jerome's uniforms, would walk over there with my mom after closing time, while we waited for my dad. I don't thing we ever bought much and only recall cleaning products and lots of plastic things so I'm not one to be excited by a dollar or less store of any kind.
Daiso was different, mostly because it was clean and well organized. I was hosting a dinner party for 10 and had a grand total of 6 non dessert size plates because of an accident (poor motor skills strike again!) the week before. I didn't really expect to find much but I really, really did.
I bought a lot and you have to wrap and bag your own things so I was up there for a while. Luckily, the cashier was super sweet and helped me wrap, got me a box and then helped me out to my car.
These places seem to be popping up all over the place so I'm sure I'll be in another one some day soon, especially if my clumsiness continues. -

"CLUSTER-FUCK, CLUSTER-FUCK, CLUSTER-FUCK!!!"
Holy mother of "What?!" is EVERYWHERE in this store... I've been to the Eastridge location, and it pales in comparison to the variety of "what-cha-ma-call-its"... This place has a much bigger selection of everything they carry, and I came up on some more organizational goods/paint brushes/craft stuff/pumice scrubs and loofas. They have awesome smelling car fresheners for $1.50 that would usually cost you $5...
If I had more time, I would scour the place from head to toe to explore their sumi paints and calligraphy section... however, because of the sheer volume this place consists of, I could not afford to spend more than an hour here... which made me yearn for the familiarness and compact area that Eastridge stood for. I will be back, but I need more time to be able to weed out the key differences between the two locations and to find more tiny knick-knacks that I could put to good use.
The best value I saw just so happened to be someone else's good find... a couple in front of me happened to have a basket FULL of wooden toys for the kids on easter, and they made out with enough for 15 kids w/ less than $20 spent. They were high quality toys that could have been passed off for a $5-10 toy at a trendy children's boutique store... They looked so good, I wanted to cop some for myself, but I had to remind myself I didn't have kids... -__-Listed in: Crafting DIYODS: "Do It Your…

Omgosh I thought I was crazy but I was not! I found Daiso in Richmond, BC of all places and someone told me there was one here in the bay ... 'somewhere' ... I didn't really think about this too much and kind of went about my day.
Two days ago I was looking for a Target / Wal-mart in Mountain View and LO AND BEHOLD there it was ... of course I had to stop by if only for comparison purposes to the ginormous one in the Aberdeen center. This one is definitely quite a bit smaller and for some reason it *is* more expensive than the Canada version but otherwise sells pretty similar stuff like random kitchen wares and server wares as well as storage components and other Japanese culture trinklets. I am so excited to have found the equivalent since now I don't need to go exchange my USD for CAD to buy things! -

******UPDATE 12/23/07************
This year, my Christmas present to my 10 year old niece was to take her out to lunch and shopping for her presents (since she already knows that presents don't come from Santa and she's already got her own particular preferences about what she wants.)
After we had lunch, I took her to Daiso to shop for what she wanted. I gave her $20 and told her that she could buy anything she wanted in the store - and she went to town!
She purchased all sorts of pencils, erasers, note cards, a little change purse, a few hair barrettes - all the things young girls like to have.
My niece is a very happy girl - and I'm a cool auntie!
************************************************** *************************
I read Lolia S.' review of Daiso and it sounded just like the perfect place to go to buy all my stocking stuffers and little Christmas items for my nieces and nephews.
My b/f and I had fun browsing through this place. You'll find all sorts of knick-knacks that you never even thought existed. My cats are going to have fun with the toys I bought for them - at $1.50 for a cat toy that costs much more in any other store, I couldn't pass it up!
There was an aisle where they had all the massage/fitness items. Apparently, the Japanese have their version of an exercise ball. The model on the exercise ball package looked like a throw back to the Jane Fonda "feel the burn" days complete with leg warmers.
The kitchen item section is vast. I particularly loved some of their ceramic dishes and plates - just like they have at other import stores, but at a fraction of the cost.
When I go into stores like this, I have to set a time limit or I'd be in there for hours.
Definitely worth another trip. -

Oh, Daiso. You are so awesome to the max xtreme.
Just about anything you could want is here. Food, kitchen/cooking supplies, pet supplies, stationary, etc, etc, etc.
Daiso is one of those places with great items for CHEAP, so you usually end up with a bunch of stuff once you end up at the register. Do I need 15 kinds of rice crackers, fantastically bad engrish printed on t-shirts, sake cups, and chibi-monkey stationary? No. But will I buy it for their prices? HELLS yes.
My one Daiso regret is not buying the strawberry-shaped doggie bed they had a year or so ago. Epitome of wtf cuteness.
Cheap, adorable, and Japanese. All good things. -
Review from Rhonda W.
I have heard this place is awesome, but I think it depends on what time of year you go, and what they are stocked with. But what is this place? Basically, it's a 'dollar' Japanese store. They are a common thing to find in Japan, and people get things like things for the bathroom, things for the kitchen and things for the house. I get why it's cool out here because, for example, it's not common to have a plastic case shaped like a bannana, to keep your bannana in for lunch. I get how these cool little cute things are charming and fun, but if you go in there looking for something specific, you might just be better off going to Target. The only difference is that at Target you'll probably pay more than a dollar.
I don't mean to hate on this place, the staff was super supportive and helpful, the store itself is very well organized and clean and the prices are really cheap. If there was one of these in my neighborhood, I'd probably go to it every once in a while when I felt like buying dollar items, otherwise... I'd probably stick to the local stores for my staples. -

Obviously I can't stay away from this place! In the past week I have been in here about 4 times for one reason or another. I see something cute, buy it, see somethings else that I don't. I get home and realize that I just have to have what I didn't get and voila...two days later I return...only to get what I originally wanted and about 20 other things! Hard to pass things up too, when most things in here are only $1.50. I love their selection of baskets and fans. It has inspired me to get organized and to decorate that bare wall in my family room!!
My husband is a trooper and goes with me when I go (or maybe he's just keeping an eye on the checkbook...lol)!
Weeee Daiso...I'll be back!! -
Review from Fallon P.
This location is definitely a lot wider and more spacious than the one in Daly City. I dropped by here to pick up some gift boxes and I found cute ones for $1.50. Basically, everything is $1.50 unless it's otherwise marked a different price.
I like how they have the false lashes on the shelves laying out for you to actually feel and look at up close, while the one in Daly City, you need to ask someone to see the lashes if you want to buy them since they keep them near the cash registers.
Customer service is alright. The cashier sort of sounded like a robot because he was so monotone and kept repeating the same "How are you? Do you need a bag?" spiel. C'mon you need more personality than that!
Parking isn't so bad on the weekdays, but I'm pretty sure it gets hectic on the weekends because of the Trader Joe's crowd.
Daiso certainly has its random items like double eyelid tape, banana holders, and such. But, that's what makes this place so fun to shop at. You never know what you're gonna find! -

Daiso PERFECTION.
Grand opening was scheduled for 10/6/07, but they wanted a PERFECT opening, so they waited till today.
It was worth the extra day:
More compact store, but everything is WELL organized.
Signs strewn over the displays.
Cheery helpful customer service.
Located by Trader Joes and 24hr.

Review from Janel Y.
So I'm back backpacking through Japan and funny to say, the first place I yelp about is Daiso...but that's because I was looking for those cute and colorful dish washing sponges that are shaped as sweets.
I saw them in the 300 yen stores in Japan, but I figured I could get them here in the states so I wouldn't have to worry about my cramped backpack space that was already filled with my many shopping purchases as well as food and friend's souvenirs.
Sad to say, this Daiso didn't carry them. They only had the regular, boring dish washing sponges. Since my trip was spoiled, I decided to walk around. Found similar items that they sell in the 300 yen stores, but I found the items in the Japan stores better. But don't worry, I'm not hatin' because at Daiso, you CAN find some useful and some not so useful items for a minimum of $1.50. The only thing is that if you look carefully, most of the products are made in China or Korea. I found most of the candies to be made in Japan.
I just miss the chorus of "Irrashimasssseee" and respectful bows from the Japanese employees.
