I LOVE DAISO! I`ve been hooked on this place since I forced my family to take me, and now they love it to! I love going there for the cheap snacks and drinks. I like coming here for little random things too, I buy items from boot standers to plastic wall plug covers, literally stuff for everything!

Nice place to buy cheap items, also the plates/bowls/bentos under $3 so cheap! I usually leave this place spending at least less then $20, always satisfied :)

Daiso is essentially a Japanese Ikea (minus the food court). Prices here are dirt cheap and you could probably furnish your entire home with a $20 bill. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I saw a store sign stating some of their products may contain chemicals leading to cancer or birth defects. I appreciate the warning, but it was a major letdown. It was like finding your soul mate on http://Match.com, only to discover the 25-year old girl you've been emailing for six months is really a 48-year old guy. I'm not speaking from experience.

I did purchase a small candy bowl and a white ceramic plate for $1.50 each, but I likely won't be coming back for future purchases.

I was so excited to visit Daiso - a Japanese Dollar store - YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
I decided to I wanted to travel a little outside SF to go to this one cause it was way bigger than the one in Japantown.

I guess I was too excited - cause I feel a little let down and here's why:

-Not everything is a dollar- Some things are even like $36.00 - what's up with that? Over at the 99 cent stores and Dollar Tree stores everything as what the name of the stores advertise - 99 cents or a $1.00 no matter what the item is- it could be a set of erasers or a large wall mirror - it's all one advertised price- so yeah that was disapointing....
-Speaking of prices - not many things actually had prices on them so be sure you know the price of stuff before your cart if filled with things that cost more than a $1.00.
-There were all these signs with sacry disclaimers letting you know that some items in the store have a certain chemical or amount of lead that can lead to Cancer and Birth defects- constantly reading those signs started to make me feel like I was sorta committing suicide by continuing to shop in their....
-No Hello Kitty Stuff -Nah, that can't be - WTF!!!! Where was all the Hello Kitty Stuff????

Some positives are that there is a large selection of items- lots of cute stuff - lots of bento stuff, containers, snacks & gift bags.

When I'm in SF  would I travel to Daly City to visit Daiso again? Hmm...even with all the Cancer warnings- yeah, I guess so - I'm such a life risking shopper aren't I???

Wooo Daiso! What a fun little store where you can find most things priced from $1.50 to less than $5.00. My curiosity of this store brought me here and I found several funny, interesting and cool items.

I stocked up on fuzzy socks, anklets and a pair of fingerless gloves that keep my hands warm, happy and pretty. I bought two packs of eyelashes and sparkly nail decals. Such a girly girl sometimes, I love the something extra, the sparkle.

They have quite the selection of Kitchenware, Stoneware, Knives, Baking Supplies, etc. Anything you might fathom for cooking it up. Organizational supplies, plastic bins, cleaning supplies and such.

I stocked up on some candy. Hurray for Hi-Chews in every flavor and chewy gummis. I had to watch labels though, because a lot of their snacks contain MSG.

Not only is this a good place to buy inexpensive gifts, they have cute cards and wrapping paper, boxes and bags to wrap them up in style. ;)

What, you need bowls? Plates? Cups? Houseware? Wow.. $1.50 each item.

This is where it's at folks. Quality is up there for $1.50 items.

Don't trust me? Check the place out :) Fashionable dishware :)

Daiso always has a huge selection of little things you never thought you needed. And SO many options.
Want a drain cover? Here, choose from 5.
Want tupperware? We have 100 kinds!
As a very indecisive shopper, the amount of choices the store offers is sometimes a bit painful to deal with. However, I do enjoy their baking section--cute cupcake liners, decorative stencils and gift boxes to give away your prized baked goods. They also have a variety of cheap pans for the rare occasion that I want to bake a fruity, heart-shaped cake. I'll admit they're not good pans, but I usually toss them after one or two uses.

Something I find confusing is that they never mark down their expired food items, let alone label them as expired. I've addressed this issue once and the employee simply told me that the expiration date standards are different in Japan. We're big and American but how different can our standards be?

Most items are $1.50. You can get almost anything in here. This place is pretty much a Japanese dollar store, filled with a whole bunch of stuff you need and don't need. So far, i've bought a casio-like watch, candy, binders, drawing pads, origami papers, tools, ties, and a miso soup boul.

Great place to waste time. Also, the cashiers were very nice. This place used to be a huge electronics store called Good Guys. And since i'm taking a trip down memory lane, I miss the old Toons restaurant that was the across the way.

Anyways, $20 can take you a long way here!

    Do you need:
underarm sweat pads?  they got it.
    toilet scrubbers?  they got it.
    bento-box tools?  they got it.
SE Asian cookies and candy?  they got it.

Daiso Japan sells absolutely and almost everything you need.  In fact, they probably sell things you didn't know you'd need-- case in point: I purchased mini silicone pot-holders for my fingers, so that I could pull hot plates out of the microwave.  So, whether it falls in the category of gardening, kitchen, dining, crafts, bathroom, tacky knick-knacks, basic clothing, whatever, blah blah, I suggest you check this place first.  Why?  Because the average $1.5 price tag will make you kick yourself in the behind if you pay more elsewhere.. and you probably will.  Think of Daiso Japan as the fancy dollar store.. it has stuff for cheap, yet with pretty good quality.

If you ever need containers, this is the place to go. Everything is basically around $1.50. However, do not be deceived as there are a number of things that are not $1.50. This place basically has everything you need from house slippers to tea cups, to bowls, to stationary, to cosmetics, to brooms, to everything. The list is endless.

One thing I have to mention is, be careful when purchasing snacks from this place as there are a lot of times that they snacks are expired. They used to have a labeled section for expired snacks, but I don't think I've seen it lately. So just be careful.

Most of the time the workers here are nice. I can see why some would get impatient especially when the store is packed and there are only 2 people working the cash register.

But overall, great places to find your daily necessities at a great price.

I love this place, I gotta come in here to take a good look at the items available the next time I happen to be in Serramonte!

    Bargain store in Serramonte? Nice!

This location used to be THE "GOOD GUYS!" The former GOOD GUYS store that used to be here on the got closed down between 2003-2005! Then about 1-2 years later, this place was purchased by another business. After a while for the wait, this store became Daiso Japan!

A private parking lot available makes it easy for the customers!

Cash/Credit/Debit are all accepted here (Except for Discover Card & American Express Credit Cards)!

Go check it out on your free time, it is the store right next to the 76 Gas Station!

280 Southbound, take the Serramonte exit and stick to the right lane!

    P.S.:
I will have an updated review available very soon!

I've been here many times. I love going here because everything is pretty cheap and fairly cute. The only thing I don't like is that it's so out of the way in terms of walking.

I go to Daiso for snacks, stationary, gift bags, dessert casings, notebooks, cute household items....many things. This Daiso isn't as big as the one in Japantown, but it has a wide range of things for you to buy. I don't think I've ever been really unhappy with anything I bought from there but that's because I think about my purchases pretty hard before I buy them.

A downside for Daiso is that some of their products tend to have chemical defects in them that may cause cancer. You can find the warnings at the front of the register and close to the door. Sometimes it's hard to notice but you should really pay attention to those. This is why I tend to stay away from their ceramic items.

Another thing I don't like about this Daiso is that....it's hard to walk there. I used to live closeby, so I'd walk to Serramonte. Walking from Serramonte to Daiso is more of a challenge because it's on the other side of the Target parking lot and there isn't any real pedestrian crosswalks to help you walk there more safely. This is particularly difficult because Daiso is in front of a busy intersection. I always made it through walking there just fine, but it's always a turn off whenever I think about walking there myself.

Overall, cool place just a bit out of the way for my taste.

It's hard not to buy anything in here because everything is so cheap.  But then after I leave with my bag of goodies I soon realize I didn't actually need anything I bought.

I do like their food storage containers and some of their aZn snacks.  I get the canned green tea to be classy.

Their plastic storage containers are a real bargain here, along with everything else.

These are perfect for my 'fridge as well as my car and garage.

This is a great place to pick up inexpensive home goods, but triple check the items you are buying and make sure you need them. They have a very strict policy on returns and exchanges, ie both are not allowed. We received a couple of items from Daiso for Christmas that we did not need and they would not do us a favor and allow a one-time exchange, even when we had the receipt and the items were new, unopened, and still in stock. We called their regional office and the people on the phone would not relent. Be mindful of their policy and think twice before purchasing an item because all sales are FINAL.

I been to about 5 Daisos in the Bay Area, and this one is by far the best one! It is sooo SPACIOUS!!! I get so excited when I come here b/c I know I will walk out with a bunch of cutesy things for under $20!

They have a bunch of random crap you don't need, but nice to have.

Great arts and craft store if you're planning to make gifts  or halloween costumes :)

It was a dollar store with all chinese and Japanese Products. I bought the DT nail polish remover. I have never had any problem with polish remover. I took it home and it was soo weak I had to stick my finger in the bottle and let it sit for 3 minutes for the finger nail polish to get soft. I ended scraping the polish. I tried to return it but the manager said that it was me. She came with wet nail polish and removed it with the nail polish remover. Leading me to think it was the cotton ball I had used at home. Completly decitful practice. I will return it to the store so that they can discard it legally. It made my finger dry with a prune appearance. The smell was too strong.

My nail polish collection has outgrown my Kenneth Cole shoe box so I went to Daiso looking for a suitable clear container. It couldn't be too tall, or too big. Found the perfect box for the nail polishes I have, but should have bought an extra. Will have to wait til I'm in the area again to stop by.

They have a small selection of Halloween costume items including felt capes in orange and black, bat headbands, and an assortment of masks.

Epic cheap stuff!! A paradox - not an oxymoron, my friends.

    a) Chic and minimalist aluminum business card holder.
    b) Sweater pill defuzzer.
    c) Folding wood-framed magazine rack with really adorable like-only-the-Japanese-can-make-'em kawaiiiiiii apple print canvas cloth.

These are all things I have actually seen elsewhere for at least five bucks more EACH (a - Muji, b - Walgreen's, c - somewhere in Japantown). I bought them here. Note that "here" almost everything is $1.50. As Napoleon would say, "Gah! Lucky!" I know. :)

They have pretty much everything here. Kitchen supplies? Yup. Stationery? Yup. Neckties? Yup. Picture frames? Yup. Tweezers? Yup. [Opens up her dictionary and points at a random noun.] Yup, pretty sure they have that, too.

This place takes one look at our Jack's 99 Cent Store, chews it up, and spits it back out. Man alive, I wish they had one of these here in NYC.

The only drawback is it's a little off the beaten path, but with so much to draw you in, Daiso is worth a side trip.

Daiso Japan has so many different items and such a low, low price...it's practically an Asian 99 cent store.  It's great!  (I say practically because most items are $1.50...but still great nonetheless).

FYI...they have so many eyelashes to choose from!  Most of them are $2.50!  Compared to MAC's lashes that are like $12...

But curse them for having Hi-Chews at the register.  I always get suckered into picking up a pack (or 2 or 3).

This is a wonder on earth, ESPECIALLY if you are a person who likes things cheap, mostly at a great quality and think Japan is totally awesome. This is me.

You can't go wrong here. I bought a plunger and toilet scrubber at Target for $13, then I stopped by Daiso and saw a plunger and toilet scrubber totaling $3. Yes, I bought them and returned the others at Target. And yes, they work well. My toilet is very clean.

I love this store! If you have a compulsion for order, this may bug out your eyes. There is stuff EVERYWHERE! But spend your time and amble thru it. You walk in thinking you need maybe one thing and you walk out with a bag full of stuff. What's there not to like?! It's cheap, cute, and you're stimulating the economy.

Obviously you're not going to get high quality stuff at these prices, but you can count on them to surprise you. Go on, find out what those crazy Japanese thought up!

Note: they do NOT stock musubi makers. I know, it's not really a Japanese thing, but it just seemed like it would be something they'd have.

My first time at this location store. I think it might be larger than the one in Mountain View?

You can spend hours in here just walking through the aisles and checking out all the different stuff they have. I was looking for stationary items as well as kids toys. Succeeded in the stationary department, but there weren't very many kids toys.

The only thing I don't like is the "all sales are final" policy. Ended up putting a lot of things back on the shelves because I wasn't really sure I needed a lot of it. It's hard when almost everything is $1.50!

This place is such a good place for useful (and not useful) garden/kitchen/office/craft accessories.  For SUPER cheap!  And the store is HUUUGE.  They have literally everything.

My favorites were definitely the cute little storage containers (neat freak I am), kitchen accessories (decent looking knives, cute cookie cutters, and cute oven mitts!), and planters (SO CHEAP).

There are some good finds here.  The only two things that bothers me are that 1) the store REAKS of a smell that I can only describe as dirty hamster bedding, and 2) there's a CA notice that products may cause cancer, productive harm, etc.

Be careful in what you purchase.  Some things are as cheap as they are, others are actually a deal.

Most things are are not one dollar, and run $1.50 and up.  Maybe we should call this place Daiso ken Nakaba?  At any rate, it's still cheap.

You can find housewares, air fresheners, chopsticks, and many other things.  They seem to have a lot of rules ... no refunds, exchanges, etc and don't think going out the exit door the wrong way.

Why is it my back only itches when I see a back scratcher?  You will find them here, some with rubber balls on one end.  You can still see the "good guys" stickers on the emergency exit doors.

I was on my way to the Target next door to buy a mesh laundry wash bag but I decided to check Daiso first. I am so glad I did! So much better than the Daiso in Japantown, plus parking here is free. I need free parking because my girlfriend can spend a hour or two in this store alone. Most amusing items I ever found in Daiso is the white Men's underwear that comes in a pack of five for $1.50. Don't think you can find a better deal for underwear.

Daiso does have a huge selection of kitchen, bathroom, and storage containers. When they first opened their selection of dog toys and items was larger but still has a pretty good selection. If you come here just looking to buy one thing, chances are that you will walk out with five items or more unless you have some serious self-control.

    What I recommend:

Yes, yes, come and check this Daiso out!!

Japan's version of a $1 store.  But, of course, done Japan style, it's waaayyyy better than cheap knock-offs that fall apart after a week of use.

You can find really great useful things here for one or two dollars.  I've gotten totes for $1.50, really handy colanders for $1 (to wash small amounts of fruit), and ice tea pitchers for a few dollars more.  Wander around and you'll definitely find a few things worth getting.

AMERICA NEEDS TO BE SLAPPED IN THE FACE WITH DAISO!

Seriously, you can get everything here. And I do!! This location is particularly the best because it's super huge!! I went there yesterday and spent so much money but got soooo much stuff!

I got wine glasses, big coffee mugs, fake eyelashes, ashtrays, sponges, construction paper, asian utensil holder, and sooo many other things btu it only came out to like 30 dollars.

    step yo game up, america.

I've been wanting to come here for a very long time, so when I finally did, I made sure to set a spending limit: $20.  I walked up and down every single aisle and looked at every single shelf.  I found so many things that I wanted, but I had to stick to what I needed.  I ended up going home with a new oven mitt with white rabbits on it, a "crushed ice" tray, a 3 bowl sauce dish, some origami paper & stationery!  I wanted to walk away with the whole store.  I'm kind of hoping to accidentally break my dishes so I can replace them with Japanese plates!

The staff is really nice and friendly and they didn't follow me around.  Many people came into the store downgrading the knickknacks in the store, but it's the little delights in life that we must enjoy, and I enjoy knickknacks.

I was looking for a very unique item that I've never seen before and I was hoping to find it here, but the hunt continues.

this is a HUGE Daiso and i get lost in it all the time.
i come here when I'm looking for containers, knitting needles, and just about anything under the sun and then some.
They have almost everything you can think for for such a cheap price.
their craft section grows almost every time i go there. i particularly like this because i get almost all my knitting needles from Daiso now.

the one thing that sucks is that everything is final sale, which with everything almost at $1.50 is kinda understandable, but a bit inconvenient at times.
so my fair warning on this place: check and check again you're getting what you think it is or you'll be sitting there with stuff that you have no use for.
