Not a bad place, but not great.
Was not busy, we went on a Wednesday night at 8PM. No waiting, easy parking, no crowds.
I ordered a Cheeseburger, It was pretty good, but the fries were the shoestring kind, basically inedible. Other than that it was okay. My friend got a chicken pot pie, it looked huge, but upon further inspection it was basically a giant piece of pie crust with a little bit of chicken pot pie goo underneath.
I probably wont be coming back here.
If you don't want to deal with the mad rush at McCormick's for happy hour come here. $2.95/$3.95 foods, and $3something beer specials, etc. I prefer their foods over M&S happy hour....it's more quality than quantity...you won't get that huge M&S cheeseburger, but they got good things on their menu too. My favorite is the sesame seed ahi tuna (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) and the chicken pot pie. I like that they have drink specials on their happy hour too, M&S doesn't have that.
Service was below par though...we were the only table there; so no excuses. Our waitress was sitting 3 tables away eating and chatting with her friend. Don't get me wrong, I used to do that when I worked at M&S, but at least I would sit where my customers wouldn't see me.

I had such high expectations of this place since I knew a couple co-workers who would often go here for happy hour. I finally ended up going here for a happy hour/good-bye party for a friend but my high expectations were not met. They have a totally uncool policy of not serving happy hour specials to large parties that rent out the outdoor patio. They instead are willing to serve you a way over priced $30 per person"buffet" consisting of cheese, crackers, fruit and BBQ sticks. If anyone in your party tries to go inside to the bar to get the happy hour specials they will be told that they cannot get the specials.
Needless to say, I don't think I or anyone else who I was with that night will ever want to come here for happy hour or to throw any kind of party here. In fact that night, we ended up leaving and going to neighboring Cozymel's where the food and drinks were cheaper and where we were treated better.
Only been here for happy hour and it's not bad. Like many have already stated, I'd take the DG over McCormick and Schmicks any (week) day of the week. For a happy hour, this is not the cheapest place to get your drink on, but for a place to grab a bite and skip dinner all together, it's perfect. Nothing beats the $3 pot pie! Mmmm....pot pie....*drool*
The pot pie alone garners it 3 stars. I'd give it another 1/2 star if i could for it's location being halfway between where I work and where I live.
Review of Happy Hour only....
Back in the day I used to think that McCormick & Schmick's Happy Hour was pretty kick ass, but as most you know, M & S has gone down hill in recent years with their HH. Acutally way way back in the day I used to think that Applebee's had a pretty good HH, but that was back in my early 20's, but I digress.
We ordered a ton of HH food. Our first round was Popcorn Shrimps, Fried Calamari, Spinach Artichoke Dip, and Little Slider Burgers. FG and I drank beers and the girls had wine and a foo foo martini.
Banking on the success of our first round of appetizers, which by the way are $2.95 each, we ordered a good, but not as great, second round which was Creole Shrimp (not good, although ronron sopped up the sauce), Chicken Quesadilla, Queso Fundido (say it slow with me ronron), and Chicken Pot Pie.
Not much people watching, but we get enough entertainment out of ourselves. BTW, Yuko you still haven't answered our hooded or non-hooded question.
Have to give props to Furious for suggesting Daily Grill for HH, otherwise I would have never ventured there.

Dear Professor,
I've been bad.
I was halfway to class and I remembered that I was wearing my "epic tits" dress today.
see link: http://www.yelp.com/us...
How can I waste that? I'm in a good mood. I'm perky. I can't waste it on your class. Not that your class isn't great but there's only one cute boy in there and I already slept with him (just kidding! ... i think).
I admit it. I went to Happy Hour instead. Whoa. What is this? Actors Guild night?
Boys. Come. Cute women. Drunk. Seriously.
Girls. Don't come. Boys looked gay. Seriously.
Soooo anyway, I had creole shrimp, popcorn shrimp, spinach dip, queso fundido (Brian was trying to teach me how to say it in his white man spanglish), chicken quesadilla, sliders, chicken pot pie, and calamari rings. All very yummy. Three bucks each. How could I say no?
As GC would say, "This is like the white man's izakaya."
Anyway... i hope you're not mad.
See you next Wednesday!
xoxo,
Ronnie

Their chicken pot pie and meatloaf had been decent dishes in the past.Seemed to be a better place with the previous management.
Last time I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes I was not too impressed! I'm no cook ,but I do know that mashed potatoes by definition should be mashed!
There's too much competition nearby for mediocrity.
This is the place to go if you have corporate guests visiting from out-of-town and you want to rub elbows and press some flesh with them during happy-hour.
The place is nice... dimly lit. It sees quite a bit of business during 3 - 6pm with really cheap (decent) appetizers... but other than that, I can't really say the food is all that great.
.... ummmm....
Did I mention happy hour isn't too bad?

uhhhh... yup... that's about it.

I went to this restaurant for my mom's birthday with my fam bam about a year ago, just to try it...and it's like an upscaled carrows/dennys! I'll give it an A for cleanliness and that's about it. But other than that, it's too pricey and not worth it! If anything, it's the worst restaurant around that area to go to....

Move over Applebee's and TGIF's...this might be a chain, but its a good one. My husband came home from a business trip up north to San Francisco about four month before our visit to the Daily Grill. Imagine four months of hearing about the mac and cheese from this place. I was looking forward to that mac and cheese like nothing else I've ever looked forward to.
I enjoyed the choices on their menu- a bit upscale from the typical chain restaurant fair and the prices did reflect that difference. I ordered herb grilled chicken which came on a spinach mashed potatoes. The portion was huge! It came out with three chicken breasts and a lump of potatoes. The chicken was cooked perfectly and potatoes were creamy and delicious. It tasted pretty good for lunch the next day too!
So, for the mac and cheese......
it was creamy and full of flavor, the pasta was cooked al dente and there was a crunchy topping that added a nice texture. It had to be one of the best mac and cheese's that I've eaten. mmmmmm...

I only have a recommendation for their happy hour.
The happy hour foods at Daily Grill kick McCormick's ass. Dishes are $3 each (McCormick's at $2 each), but the quality is way better. Practically everything on their happy hour menu is good. Personally, I like getting the Chicken Pot Pie, Calamari and some Boston Lager.

The happy hour foods are a great deal. $3 for a giant pot pie.
However, the waitress was not very friendly and not helpful. The busboy, on the other hand, was much more helpful. He should've earn all the tips.
mediocre food should never cost too much. in this case, the mediocre food costed more than it's worth which warrants it 3 stars. i ordered myself a pot pie for dinner because it was pouring that night and wanted something steamy to warm me up. besides, i really like pot pie pastry tops. when our waiter brought out my food, i was awed by it...it looked so huge!! but in actuality, it was just a very shallow but wide dish. like daily grill, looks can be deceiving. the food was deceiving too. it smelled great, but it tasted just alright. reminded me of a marie calander's but with inflated prices. *shrug*
We took my grandpa for his 87th birthday this past Saturday.
I went with the Chinese Chicken Salad - the salad was soggy, lacked in flavor and the chicken was pre cooked and sliced in some factory.
Soup Du Jour - Lobster Bisque (it is supposed to be made fresh DAILY) but it was luke warm, and really fishy tasting/smelling. Ick!
My mom's Cobb salad looked soggy and a day or two old, and my poor grandpa's Chopped Steak was tough and difficult to cut - even with a steak knife!
The service was slow, the meal sucked - they did not charge for anything, which was nice - but I still won't go back!

This was my first time here. i thought i had dined here before but it was a different place. I made reservations on opentable.com which was really cool and convenient, but we didn't even need the reservation. When i walked in there were plenty of tables available. I ordered the California Turkey Melt and it was awesome. It was soooo yummy with peppered turkey, avocado, melted jack cheese and some cranberry dressing. I would definitely go back. My friends also very much enjoyed their food. It's kinda pricey, more than I expected, but well worth the quality and the service.
I have only been here for happy hour but have been back several times! It's just good food.
We've tried the famous chicken pot pie, a roasted artichoke with aioli, sushi, etc etc. and enjoyed it all. A little something for everyone!

If you are craving good ol' American standards (pot pies, meatloaf, etc.) without going to a dinner, the Daily Grill is the perfect place to satisfy your longing. The decor is chic, soft lighting and big booths - a good date spot or to catch up with old friends.
They do have valet, although there is a large parking structure nearby as well. It is a bit on the pricey side, but you should know that going in. The service I have had here has always been decent, a little slow, so I recommend if you are not in a hurry or do not have set plans after dinner.

Came here for lunch with group of 6 and we all enjoyed our meals. Heard the chicken pot pie was to die for (as evidenced by the fact that the plate was wiped clean). BEST french fries! Make sure to order them! Good ol' hearty american food. Service was so-so. Waiter didn't come around as often as I would've liked her too - hence the deduction. Very clean. Spacious. Big group friendly - would come here again for lunch.
I went here for lunch a few times. Each time I ordered something different and each time I was disappointed. It could be that I am ordering the wrong thing, but come on! The first time i went I ordered a turkey sandwich, It was 11.95 and came with a side of fruit. I would have a hard time paying $5 for it without being disappointed. It came with two slivers of watermelon, and when I say slivers, I mean slivers, two tiny pieces of pineapple and a slice of orange. What am I suppose to do with that! that's a garnish not a side! The second time i went I ordered gazpacho and chicken ceased salad. The gazpacho tasted like a big bowl of salsa. It had no presentation, was sloppy and was overwhelming. The Cesar salad was good, I was particularly impressed with the grilled chicken on top, they didn't skimp there. The croutons were soft, and sparse, an I love nothing more than a crunchy crouton.
I try to order healthier dishes, but I think the secret is in the burgers and french dip. Overall don't except much from this glorified chain except a big fat bill.

Looks nice, great location, clean and well done ... but food is nothing special at all.
Food was pretty good...service was atrocious. First off our waiter was dripping sweat...I am all for working hard but can you wipe down before coming to the table? Second, our business associate order a chicken sando...a bun would have brought it all together, how do you bring out a sando with no bun? Maybe they were trying to tell our colleague Atkins was the way to go... Oh by the way the service was tortoise-esqe too...
I had the sand dabs which were actually pretty good...once they finally arrived...

Not such a good dinner last Thursday evening.
One star for a pleasant and relaxing decor, and a quiet environment suitable for intimate conversations and efficient friendly service.
One star for a delicious cedar planked salmon. (But if it's cedar planked, where did those grill marks come from?)
No stars for a so-so gazpacho and a Manhattan clam chowder that didn't have more than 10 tiny pieces of clam in it.
No stars for under cooked vegetables on both the grilled-veggie plate and the salmon plate.
Waaayyy no stars for the over-salted briny tasting risotto.
No stars for a to-busy fatty creme-brulee. (Creamy is good. Fatty is not)
No stars for a glass of wine putting on airs by having its own separate little decanter or for a mojito being overwhelmed with mint, mint, and more mint.
And pricey? Don't get me started.
It sound like happy hour is great though. But I'm not inspired to go back.
This name is quite deceiving: my tummy was ready for some tasty sandwich, but when we walked in, it was clear that it was much more upscale than that. Inside it is really nice, and the table settings are pretty classy. Don't worry about having to dress up nicely though, as the other eaters were just wearing normal attire. Their bread is yummy, though it would have been yummier if it was warmmm. I'm a sucker for warm bread. The food came out pretty quickly. I ordered their penne pesto, very good!! My mom got the angel hair with shrimp, that was very tasty as well. The food was yummy, but holy crap, did the service suck. Our waiter was nice enough, but he was MIA as soon as the food arrived. We were sitting around waiting for to-go boxes and the check a good 20 minutes after we were done eating. This place is good enough, but I don't know if I'll go back unless I'm in the mood for a LONG leisure meal.

Daily Grill isn't much of a "grill" per se, and I really couldn't see someone coming here daily...it's rather pricey! Nevertheless, my boss and I went for lunch there today. The decor is very sleek and plain, black booths/tables, white tablecloths, with not much else in the way of decoration besides some black and white photographs adorning the walls. The menu is a survey of American classics, including steaks, salads, sandwiches, pot pie, pasta, and other similar dishes. Lunches are between $10 and $30. They usually have good daily specials (maybe that's the "daily" part), and I ordered Friday's special, which was blackened tilapia. The fish was well cooked, nice and moist, and easy to eat with just a fork. The menu said it had "Cajun seasoning", but the seasoning was so mild that I barely tasted it. It was also topped with a buttery lemon sauce, capers, and diced red bell peppers. I loved the saltiness of the capers with the fish; the bell peppers I could have done without. I asked for regular mashed potatoes instead of the spinach ones, but they put the spinach ones on my plate. I told them, and they were quickly replaced with the correct ones! They were good by the way...they were with the skins, but still creamy and tasty! The service was efficient yet excellent as always. I think they have mastered getting people in and out of the place, yet providing excellent service at the same time. I would highly recommend this place if you're having a business meeting for both the quality and service. It's probably not somewhere I'd go otherwise, however...there are other places that I find better for the price.
i was here on thursday night with 5 other folks. we camped out in the bar and ordered generously from the appetizer menu. the food was very good. the 'slider' style pulled pork sammys were tasty. the hit of the night was chicken pot pie which was a relative bargain and tasty.
our server was a little spitfire. she rocked. loved her attitude. i cringe sometimes when i'm with a group and the server shows too much personality too early. you're leaving yourself open to an overshare (...and when i was 12, my stepfather...) but she was really cool. should have gotten her name for a shout-out.
i thought. tons of apps and way too many drinks for 6 lushes for $185 wasn't too bad.
