I could see why a lot of people rated this place low, as I agree with all the points made. The service is not one would expect for a place whose items are  what some have called over priced. But my reviews are in regards to the food.

Yet I ordered from the Chef's Special pre-fixed menu of $24.99 which got me the lobster bisque (very good), the filet mignon pot pie (huge meal) and the creme brulee (which wasn't good).

Friday, 7pm.

The office gave me a good once over and I was ready to check out for the weekend.  The boss had been crawling all over me about some article he wanted finished before putting the paper to bed.

Oh well.  I'll guess he'll have to wait.

Jackie was at some tupperware party at the neighbors house.  Women, these damn days.  Can't even fix their husband a hot meal after a smoke filled day at the office.  Yeah that house dress may look nice on her but where does she think the money came from to buy it?  I tell you what, it cost more than a few pennies at Woolworths.  Dames.

So I strolled out of the office.  I knew what I wanted.  A cup of manhattan style clam chowder that will get washed down by a cobb salad.  I fired up the Oldsmobile.  She purred like a kitten.  I swear I saw the boss in the doorway as I sped out.

I walked into the Daily Grill and Deb was there to meet me.  Her hair was curly.  It was definitely a Friday.  She sat me down in the usual spot and set the menu down on the table as I hung my coat and fedora on the hook.  She always did this even though I always ordered the same thing.

A couple of no good thugs start acting up in a booth nearby and all Deb has to do is shoot an evil look at them and they straighten up like a couple of choir boys.  That's Deb for you.  She owns this place as much as it owns her.

The food comes out hot and steaming.  Like my women.  The clam chowder tastes like minestrone with a can of clams accidentally dumped in.  Just my style.  The mountain of cobb salad is good.  Sal must've had a nip of the cooking sherry, because he was generous with the fixings.  The dressing was good and the whole salad was just what I need on this dark and dreary evening.

Deb left me alone while I smoked a cigarette.  She knew I needed my time alone to think things over.  That's a damn good woman.

I got up, fixed my fedora and walked out.  Deb was slouched over at the front desk, her eyes glassed over and staring out into the world on the other side of the heavy wooden door.

"One of these days I'm gonna have to steal you away from this dive" I said to her.

She smiled.

"You can try again next Friday." she replied.

I'll see you, kiddo.

Pros- My chicken club was tasty, my martini was tasty, and the restaurant was clean and quiet. . . wait.. is quiet a good thing?

Cons- This restaurant is insanely overpriced, the server was retarded, the creme brulee was terrible, and we had to pay 8 dollars to park in the lot for an hour.

Honestly I would sooner go to Chili's and eat the same sandwich for 7.95 instead of 11.95... and at least at Chili's I could follow it up with the molten chocolate cake. Mmmmm....

My apologies to anyone staying at the Burbank Airport Mariott or visiting one of the nearby companies.  Daily Grill is basically the only place to eat within walking distance of the airport.  There's some more stuff down Empire at Victory, but that's barely walkable at lunchtime.

Parking here is $EXPENSIVE/hour, even if you're staying at the hotel!  You can get 2 hours free with validation, but you have to remember to ask them for it.

Daily Grill is your typical ghetto hotel restauraunt.  I came here for post-dinner drinks with a friend and was disappointed from start to finish.  There was no waitress at the door (we got there around 9PM) and were directed to the bar by a bus boy.  The drinks are expensive ($12 for a shot of Dewars?? It's not even good stuff...) and the food is really mediocre.  The only people who eat here are business travelers with low standards on an expense account.  Grab a danish at the coffee shop in the hotel lobby and pray that you can go home soon.

And here, my yelping friends, we have a perfect example of what happens when a restaurant has bad service.  It makes no difference how good the food is, what kind of ambiance the place has or what name brand chef toils in the kitchen.  If the service stinks, the restaurant stinks.  Period.

We got to the Daily Grill well in advance of our daughter's arrival at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.  The host took our name and said it would be about 20 minutes to get a table, so he encouraged us to wait in the bar.  We found a place to sit in said bar and waited ... and waited.  Finally a waitress came and we ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers.  The food and drinks came, we enjoyed them and the plates were cleared.  We asked the waitress for a menu because we wanted to order another appetizer and she brought one .. only to diaappear for no less that 20 minutes.  By the time she showed-up again, we had to leave.  The waitress didn't seem to realize or care that the more drinks and food we added to our tab, the higher her tip could have potentially been.  Alas, her tip was a small one.

On the way out we asked the host what happened to our table, which was supposed to have been available nearly forty minutes before.  Evidently a table became available but the host never bothered to look for us in the very bar he told us to wait in.  So he crossed us off the list.  I suppose that's fair because we've definitely crossed "Daily Grill" off of ours.

A convenient restaurant adjacent to the Marriott Hotel lobby located right across the Burbank Airport exit.   During one lunch meeting, I ordered the fried calamari and a side of shoestring fries.  The calamari was quite oily and the batter - in the heavy side.  The shoestring fries were ok.

Yesterday's lunch consisted of a cup of the Manhattan Clam Chowder followed by an order of fish and chips.  The chowder was tasty and served with generous portions of clam, while the Fish 'n Chips entree  was served  in a super sized portion which included four large fish pieces with a side of shoestring fries.

The overall atmosphere varies depending on the time of day.  During the day, the dining area is populated by hotel patrons and workers from nearby businesses during the lunch hour.  The happy hour and after dinner scene consists of primarily business people.  Our happy hour and cocktail waitress was friendly, accommodating and quick.  When we returned for Happy Hour the next day, she immediately smiled at me and asked, "your Merlot, right?".

I have been to the Daily Grill many times, most recently the last two nights, as I'm staying at the Marriott here for a convention.

The service is very iffy when it's busy, notably breakfast or Saturday night at around 7.  It's hard to be seated even when there are empty tables already bussed, and it's hard to find your waiter again after the first hurried hello.  But during other times, and with certain waiters, service is very good.

The menu looks great, but some items don't measure up to the billing (like the chicken piccata).  I found the prime rib just okay, with no au jus on the plate.  However, the filet medallions were very tasty, in ample quantity, and cooked just right.

Their $8 margarita is the size of a huge water glass, and very nicely made.

I''ve been to a couple of Daily Grill's, but probably this location the most since it's one of the few restaurants near Burbank Airport. Food is OK but nothing to write home about. It's better than the Friday's-Applebee's-Bennigan's chain but not that much better. I know it's an offshoot of the Grill in Beverly Hills, Hollywood and San Jose so I can only hope they're better than this place.

This chain is so hit or miss.  Even a given location can be 4 stars one day and 1 star the next.  The food is usually good to very good, but this location suffers from some of the worst service you'll ever encounter.  Example:  the waiter forgot to bring out my food with everyone elses.   Did he go back and immediately bring out my order?  How about after being reminded the second and third times?  Nooooooo.   To make matters worse, there were at least five waiters serving only 3-4 guest tables.

After waiting a full 20 minutes, we were finally able to commandeer a busboy and beg for my food and more lukewarm "iced" tea.  Even he gave us a dirty look that said "that's not my job".

Daily Grill corporate:  Get new management at this location ASAP.  You will soon have plenty of competition across the street.
