My favorite donut shop when staying with friends in Silverlake.

Noticeably clean. Above average dounuts at a below-average price. Adequately air-conditioned seating area, with outside seating for the occasional smoker.

My favorite are the cream-filled eclairs. I'm not a huge fan of custard filling.

Coffee is not great, but it's not bad either.

This shop has been around for as long as I have lived in Silver Lake...and that is at least 19+ years. I love it. They have real soft donuts, sweet and glazed...but not tootheache causingly sweet. I love their old fashioned style place...with the small booths, old folks playing cards/chess, pink boxes with the donut shop address stamped on the top, and it still is only about 50 cents per donut...a small price to pay for such a huge chunk of heaven. i love it.

I have been going to DDs for months and they make a good, above average product. The place is always cleaned and tables wiped down throughout the day, so no sticky tables. Most people seem to be from the Los Feliz neighborhood and you might strike up a friendly conversation with a regular.

Although I like the double expresso, the regular coffee is really lousy. In the day of gourmet coffee and all the new coffee houses springing up, a donut shop should have exceptional coffee to dunks those donuts in. The coffee almost has no flavor, very watered down. I cannot understand why making great coffee in a donut shop would not be a priority. That coffee tastes the same today as it did 5 years ago. If they could start brewing great coffee like coffee should be, I would give it 5 stars

Sometimes all you need is a trip to the good, old-fashioned donut shop where things still cost 50 cents and it's okay to eat deep fried pieces of dough covered in icing. (Mmmm....deep fried pieces of dough.)

And by old fashioned, I don't mean some donut parlor where boys wearing red striped shirts serve you a root beer float, but you know, those "old" donut shops with the pink cardboard boxes run by some Thai family behind the counter.

This is why I like the Daily Donut. They've been around forever, and their shop is always sparkling clean and they're the perfect getaway when the HUGE hipster line at Alcove really starts to piss you off, cause their food really isn't that great so c'mon people, why are you hogging up the whole place??

Anyway. I like my donuts. Especially the maple bars. At least once every 4 months because otherwise, I would not be able to fit in the elevator at work, but it's enough for me to appreciate that having a nice, old-fashioned donut shop just down the street from your apt makes life very nice indeed.

I remember this place when I was living in Los Angeles - I always stop by here to grab a croissant and some snapple ice tea for breakfast on the way to some friends prior to some morning work - their croissants are quite tasty, compares to other donut places. I was especially addicted to their ham and cheese croissant.

Ah, the memories. .

Good place in the neighborhood for raised doughnuts. They have a great reputation already, but I had to put in my two cents. I'm not crazy about the buttermilk or old-fashioned, though. I would recommend, in the area, Tang's Donuts on Franklin near Mayfair Market for those.

It's a donut shop.  There are the typical selections at the typical prices.  Yeah.
