The fiance and I love the cheesesteaks here! My only gripe would be the price (I hear that have awesome lunch specials tho).

Cheesteaks, wit onions, with cheez wiz (EXTRA cheez wiz please) and fries get two thumbs up from me. We ordered their wings and they were alright, but for the price, I would rather go to hooters or to BW3.

They do have a nice little bar in it and a good amount of TVs and it looked to me like they had the baseball ticket in there. But being a PHILLY bar, I would never think about going to watch my Braves in there.

Home of the $23 Philly Cheese-steak!

Hot damn!  If you can afford to eat these things at Daglio's, you my friend, have arrived.  You have become...THAT guy.  As in ...Holy-cow, look at THAT guy!!!

How good was it?   Was it worth all that dough?   Beats the hell out of me.  Warren Buffet, I'm not.   I honestly have no idea if it's worth it.  I highly doubt it, but as I couldn't afford to trigger a "Fraud-Alert" on my credit card I didn't even try to pay.  Amex watches for that kind of stuff, I hear they have a whole division tasked with monitoring exorbitant sandwich cost anomalies.

Here's what I do know:   If you call Daglio's for a simple To-Go order on a Thursday night around 8pm and you ask for a 12" Philly Cheese-Steak with extra meat, you better be wearing your seat belt, protective equipment, have a Personal Injury attorney on speed dial and your neighbor, the Cardiologist standing by at the ER with a crash-cart.  Because when they tell you how much that innocent looking little gem is going to set you back, some patients have experienced a loss of sex drive, headaches, trouble urinating and in extreme situations... even death.  You know the drill.

I've actually lived all over the world and no one has ever asked me to pay them $23 for a sandwich.   EVER.  (I once got charged $12 for a tuna sandwich and a can of coke at an airport....IN TOKYO JAPAN!)  I must admit that I did order fries with my Philly.  Maybe that's where I screwed up.    The Philly was probably only 3 bucks and maybe they nail you on the accessories.   Who knows?   I actually thought they were joking.   In fact I asked if they were being serious.  I had to ask them to repeat the total...twice.  Since even over the din of crickets in a  deserted restaurant, the owner could see I was having a little trouble getting my head around this whole thing, so he made sure to come over and clear it up by repeating exactly the same thing the cashier had been saying and that staring at him like a "deer in the headlights" was not going to change anything!   (he didn't actually say that part about the deer and headlights, but I thought it was a nice touch...you?)

But hey, at $23 dollars a whack, you don't have to sell near as many subs to pay for that new Italian Villa or whatever Cheese-steak vendors dream of owning one day.  Maybe the guy is on to something.   Maybe everyone (the schmucks) else has it wrong.   In this economy, that we are all struggling with, where others tend to entice patrons via a perceived good  value , this restaraunteur charges Fine Dining prices for essentially street-cart food.

There's an old saying that I think lends itself well to this situation:  "Pigs get fat, but hogs get slaughtered".

...and Daglio's don't even think about whining.  You've earned every  word of it of this review.  You knew this was coming.   Oh boy, did you ever know.

Oh Daglio's what did Cheesesteaks ever do to you? So this was my first attempt at finding a decent cheesesteak outside of the frozen food section at my local supermarket. It was about 12 people from our local VW club and we all came with huge appetites.

After reading some of the reviews on this place we were sold. One of the guys says he's eaten here several times. So I order the 12" philly Cheesesteak with onions provolone and mushrooms. We all pretty much got a cheesesteak for the experience, however, nobody ordered the cheeze-wiz. I nearly did, but I  thought back to that artificial taste and instantly shied away from that idea. Anyhow, once I had my food in front of me I was a little disappointed with the look of it. Even more disappointed with my first bite as it was seriously bland, and lacked any bit of life to it at all. It looked like unseasoned ground beef and was very dry.  I noticed that the experienced one of the group adding vinegar to his, so I tried it. It was much better, I then tried Tabasco and that helped too. Overall I was kinda hoping that the flavor of the steak, cheese, onions, and mushrooms were going to symbiotically dance around my tongue divulging intense flavor, but it was all bland and watery tasting. I was more than bummed. Like all places I give them at least 2 tries because maybe this was a substitute cook like the dishwasher or something which might explain the watery taste.

Ok so on to the good. Which is more what I would like to share. A few of us noticed that the menu had "Voted Tucson's Best Wings" right next the portions they offered. I chuckled as I thought, "yeah right, not till we get a taste". We have been on a wing quest for quite some time really know how to find the so called "Best".

The Verdict on the wings: Runners up!
The wings were offered in only one flavor, which is not so bad because it keeps the Libra's like myself from staring at the choices for 5 hours. Second they heat was nice, not to hot so enjoyable by almost everyone, the vinegar content on the sauce was good noticeable but not as pungent as Tabasco. The meat was nice and tender and juicy, and the skin had just the right amount of crunch to it.

This last bit gave me hope that maybe Daglio's can redeem itself another time.

Please...you people saying it's the greatest cheesesteak in Tucson are making more depressed and wanting me to return to my hometown. Like I said on another post, it's like a guy from Mexico going to philly and seeing people rating taco bell with five stars when he knows how real Mexican food should taste. Just like we are clueless about the taco, unless you actually been there, the people who grew up here or the surrounding southwest are clueless about the steaks unless you actually been to Jim's, chubbys, Steves Prince of Steaks or wit or wit out.  My Mexican wife has been to philly with me and she thinks daglios has the worst sandwich. She pretty much summed up what I said...Stale roll (sometimes with freezer burn) The cook with the beer gut pretty much looked clueless when he was making my pizza steak with whiz. It was like eating ground beef with whiz. It was a waste of my money. And speaking about the price, I pretty much raised my hands in the air, as if I were being robbed. His old partner franky makes a better steak, but not by a wide margin. It's actually not his fault bc he has to import the rolls from the home of the real food.

More often than not, if I'm at Daglio's it's having a cold one at the bar. The bartenders are super friendly, but I don't have much to write about when I'm not eating food.
Dropped in with some friends for real, actual food the other day, and was reminded of how good it was.
My friends each had cheese steaks, and they were very happy with their selections. I had a chicken cheese steak sandwich, which was surprisingly good (I chose chicken over beef only because I had given beef up for lent). Three out of four of the kids in our party had kids meal hot dogs, which looked yummy, and was served with fries, cookies, and a drink. Perfect for them.
For a lighter alternative, I've had the Buffalo Chicken Salad before, which I highly recommend as well.
We left there happy and full, and without a huge dent in our wallets.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, I know what a cheesesteak and hogie is, and Daglio's is the closest Tucson is gonna get. I have been coming here with my family since it opened and have never been disappointed. Some of the items seem pricey, but when you realize most of the meats, cheeses and breads are imported or shipped in to gain as much of that real Philly taste possible, its worth it. I strongly recommend the Italian Hogie, Cheesesteak provolone wit or the wings. He also ships in different snacks and treats I miss from back home, a place for anyone who misses the food back home! Plus a full bar, how can you go wrong!?

    FAST Review:

Food: For my first time at this establishment, I settled on the 9" cheesesteak with grilled onions and whiz (cheese). I was talked(easily) into getting a combo with fries and a drink, even though I told myself initially I wasn't going to get fries. The fountain drinks are large, so I recommend emptying your bladder before leaving. The cheesesteak went down easily, and I probably could have put away a 12. And even though I wasn't really hungry afterwards, I wasn't full either, and tried some butterscotch Tastykakes, because why not? If you have never had them before, they are the Philadelphia equivalent of a Twinkie. Less spongy, and with the filling on the outside instead of the middle.

Ambiance: Very relaxed at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Friday. It's a bar-slash-restaurant with a bit of a New York feel. Almost cozy. The bar is separated from the main seating area, but the place isn't too big.

Service: Service was ok. You order at the register, and they take your name (well, they forgot to take mine, so I was just "Hey you") and call you when your food is ready.

Total Impression: I can't say I liked the cheesesteak here any more than Frankie's or East Coast. They seem a tad blander than either, but then again I have never been to Philadelphia, and maybe cheesesteaks are supposed to be a bit bland. Maybe all the spicy foods in the Southwest have shot my tastebuds and I just can't taste as well as I used to. Either way, I can't say this place makes great cheesesteaks, but I can't say they don't either.

Best Chicago style Hot Italian Sausage "Sang-wich" outside of Chicago, that I've ever had!!! 100% original (even the cheese)  Cheese steaks aren't bad the provolone is great! Their Chicken steaks are great and the bar staff is friendly! Reminds me of a local Tavern in Pittsburgh,  PA.... Only thing missing is a real Cooked Hogie!  Oh well  will just have to keep making my own!

Great little spot just north of Broadway on Pantano.  Customer service is top notch, very friendly.

The first time I went in, it was on a Tuesday, and it was happy hour!  I think it was buy one cheesesteak, fries, and a drink and get a second cheesesteak and drink free.  Anyway it was like $13.00 for two nine inch cheesesteaks wit (with onions), one with provolone, and the other with cheez whiz!  I was wary at first about the cheez whiz, but they make 'em that way in Philly.  It was awesome.  Fries were really good too.  I think best fries in Tucson are Eegee's and Luke's based on the Tucson Weekly, and these are right up there with them. Imported bread and cheeses, fresh meat, etc. this place is one of my favorites.

This place is a real nice little hang spot come 5:00p as I suspected. We dropped in for dinner with the fam' before our son's winter showcase. There was steady traffic in the door and the bar side was a friendly feeling place where people were enjoying the football game. I got the cheese steak with provolone, add mushrooms. We all shared a basket of fries. My son got a kid's meal with PB&J and he actually ate 1/2 of it! My son is picky as the day is long, so that's saying something. The kid's basket came with fries and a pack of 2 Oreos. The staff was friendly and efficient again, just like our lunch there. Go on in and get some delishusness.

The veggie cheesesteak is very good though the last time I went it was very greasy and the fries were covered in salt. So much salt I could not even eat the fries. So I can't give it more than 3 stars.

Always got mine with provolone, mushrooms & peppers galore and their fries are amazing.
