Oh God do I really love Daglas. It may have an extremely tacky restaurant sign, but you HAVE to try the food!!  I grew up in the San Fernando Valley & this place is a regular for all my friends & I (& to everyone who lives around). The fries...deadly, but so good--they give you soooo much (a paper bag full, literally, for a SMALL!), and the seasoning! Ah, so delish. There's seating outside & inside...I believe they remodeled the place only a couple years back. Parking is in the back. A good moms/pops fast food joint to try out. You'll leave extremely stuffed.

I really miss this place now that I've moved out of the valley. This is a must-try place. Oh yeah, I love their patty melts.

THE SHORT:  Daglas is a greasy, old school burger joint serving modern, tiny, frozen, low quality meat burgers.  If you're in the mood for fast food, a la Jack's, McD's or BK, then fine, feel free to try this place.  If you're hoping for more from your meal, skip.  Yes, the fries are pretty good (why wouldn't deep fried potatoes lathered generously in salt and spices be good?), but a meal is more than just a lump of heavy potatoes stuck in your arteries.  Would only recommend in certain circumstances (e.g. someone already bought it for you and you can't return it).

THE LONG:  Continuing my devotion to eating at all places Yelp, one weekend recently my wife and I tried Daglas.  She got a cheeseburger with their small sized fries (which is a huge portion).  I got a burger with bacon and chili cheese fries.  I'm a big fan of chili cheese fries, hard to go wrong - start with a base of French fries, smother with meat, beans, and cheese - yum.  Not so here.  The chili is kind of gross.  Don't get it.  The burgers are my worst nightmare of a burger - the small, skinny McD's/BK/Tommy's kind that doesn't taste so much like beef as what we've come to expect these types of burgers to taste like.  For reference, a burger to me is an Omaha Steaks burger or any burger from any restaurant on the East Coast.  Not the CA meat drivel you get out here.  I don't regret having tried Daglas, I'm just not so sure I'd ever try it again.

Haven't been here in ages (and then it was only once), but after unsuccessfully trying to go somewhere else, we ended up here.

Shared the #1 Gyro Meal and the #2 Double Cheeseburger Meal.  Gyro is a little too oversauced, but is filled with good quality meat.  Totally worth the price.  The cheeseburger has good, lean meat cooked over an open flame to help ensure great flavor and perfectly melted cheese. The fries were hot, fresh, and seasoned perfectly; way too many of them, but hey, no complaints.

Daglas isn't a place I would go to often, not loving this type of food, or having this much food.  But if you're hungry, this is the place to go.

if i'm ever in the mood for burgers, this is the spot i go to. they have the best pastrami burger EVER. i always get the #3 with pastrami. i have to ask for them to cut it in half cause that thing is so big. i can barely fit it into my mouth. their fries are also really good. they're perfectly seasoned and cooked. i've been coming here since i was 2001. the food hasn't changed, always amazing. their onion rings are also bomb.

You will walk out of this place really full!

The fries are the reason to go here, but I won't over-hype them further because it seems to already has happened. They are tasty, crispy and well seasoned. They give you enough for two.

Their gyros are large and they have a lot of meat. Too much sauce and onions, but still worth a try. Their burgers are good. Not sure they are as good as what everyone is saying, but a place like this only stays around this long for one reason - people keep coming back. On my In-n-Out scale, In-n-Out being a 10, I would say this is a strong 7.

Real old school dive.  Don't take your honey there on your first date unless you want to die a virgin.

I rated it a 4 for food alone and not everything on the menu.  I've only gotten the double cheeseburger and fries.  If you're a burger freak like I am, just go there and try this place out.

You'll know what I'm talking about when I say dive!  Just ignore the setting and enjoy your burger!

OK, went back to Daglas because of a hankering for those fries.

I saw what they do to make these so great. They do not use a frozen dehydrated potato like fast food joints. They use a method that better restaurants do, blanching FRESH SLICED potatoes in the oil and letting them rest until they soften. They refry them on a per order basis to get them crispy and season them up.

They are fantastic. I also got a burger and it tasted like it was cooked outdoors. Great charbroiled taste.

This is a great place to eat at bargain prices without sacrificing taste!

This is the only place my husband and I will go for Char-broiled burgers in San Fernando Valley area. We have been going this place for at least 5 years. Everything is decent from Hamburgers to their Fish sandwich.

Order the large and expect enough of their Tasty French Fries for 3 people.

You can't beat a burger that is actually charbroiled and the cheese melted, not just limp and cold like so many chains.  Nice toasty bun and the reddish relish they top a finished burger with is a little salty but makes my day.  The toppings are fresh and crisp, lettuce and tomato and the dressing a mild 1000 Island.  Yum.

And their "small" fries still feeds two people.  Bring a quartet for the large fries.

I have lived in two countries and three states over fifty years.  I still find Daglas the best hole-in-the-wall burger joint ever!!!

Simply:

The Best French Fries in Los Angeles, the only fries that are comparable are at Al's French Fry in Burlington, VT.

The best deal on french fries anywhere.

Daglas fries is a little slow but the generous portion of fries that they include with their burgers or that you get with an order of fries are truly fantastic. They use the whole potato, including the skin and an assortment of longer and tiny crispy pieces with the fries. They use a delicious mildly seasoned salt. The fries are the freshest you can get.

One warning: if you get the fries take out, they will put them in a plastic grocery bag, beware, a few minutes steaming themselves in this bag will turn these delicious fries into mush, opt out of the plastic take out bag...

I like this place heaping portion of pastrami and fries. I think it comes with a drink too all for like 8 bucks. Too bad it is not closer to where i live otherwise I would be here all the time.

The pastrami is not that great. Simply because they give so much of it and it does not taste bad at all makes this place appealing to me. The secret is to get the onion rings which is magnifico. The bad part about this place is that when it is summer it gets hot. They do not have AC here so it is warm inside or out. As you valley people know it can be about 10 to 20 degrees warmer in the valley.

Oh my god this place is one guilty pleasure!  First off the Pastrami Burger.  If your heart could jump out of your chest, it would and smack you around for eating this combination.  The burger is so delicious though with the moistness of the burger meeting the spicy pastrami!  Simply sublime!  So to heck with the heart, I'm not eating it for my health.

The fries are outrageous.  The spicing is so good you don't need anything else, but beware...order a "half order" or you will get a whole tray of fries, not that that is a bad thing.

This is one of those San Fernando Valley gem's that I'm so thankful to God that it is around.  It makes life so much more tastier.

If I didnt live 400+ miles away, I would eat half my meals here and weigh 800 lbs.

I've been coming to this little hole in the wall burger joint since I was a kid and have never found another place to rival it.  A massive tray of fries and a bucket of soda with your sandwich for like $5.  You can't go wrong.

Best fries on earth.

"Daglas, where every day is FRY-day!"

You've got to love it.

This place has been here since the dawn of time (okay, at least the early 60's when my uncle started going there) and I have been enjoying Daglas since the 80's.  The Burgers are standard charbroil burger-stand issue which means they are fairly tasty but what sets Daglas apart from their rivals is their Fries.  Not only do you get a GIANT sack of them, but they are crispy and full of flavor.  I mean the fries can be a meal in themselves.   If you go, you must get the fries!!!

Other highlights of Daglas are their low prices and a decent fast food pastrami.  They have outdoor seating available and some indoor seating too.  Its kind of in a sketchy neighborhood so be aware of that.  Otherwise,   enjoy your trip to Daglas...a throwback to when the Valley was the Valley!!!!

This is a few miles from my work, so when I was craving a pastrami sandwich I went here. The pastrami sandwich is is pretty big and I felt like i was gonna have a heart attack after, but that is normal for a good pastrami sandwich.

There were way too may fries for one person to eat. I had a burger a time before, it was good, but I usually go for the pastrami sandwich.

After all the hoopla about Daglas being one of the best places for fries, I decided to give this hidden gem a chance... and to my amazement, this place indeed had some great seasoned fries.
Everyone in line recommended getting the fries, and the specialty did not disappoint.  Very friendly service and top notch food quality.  My fiance and I stuck with the pastrami combo and the quality/quantity met our expectation.  Highly recommended for a quick/cheap/fulfilling eat!

THE GREASIEST PLACE ON EARTH! I'm grateful for the fact that they place the fries in brown paper bags, regardless if you dine in or dash, so they can SOAK up all the grease, I find that a nice perk and adds a bonus point since it is something they really don't have to do.

I suggest the fries be enjoyed in moderation. To attempt to finish usually leads in failure, as well as convincing the stomach to engage in a riot you surely will lose. They're the type of fries where you know they're bad for you, but tend to forget as you delight in utter deliciousness.

The burgers are the reason I go there in the first place. Personally, I like their choice in buns, they don't seem to go cheap in that department. The lettuce is far from spectacular and doesn't aid that well in holding in the juice from the patty.

Go for the burgers, die on the fries. Definitely up for consideration if I were to choose a last meal.

I used to be a Daglas regular until I moved out of the area, but I recall their mouthwatering home-style fries in a paper bag, and enormous pastrami burgers.  This place isn't for the faint of heart, though; it's definitely useful for a quick, cheap bite at the cost of heart failure.  But what isn't nowadays, eh?

They're motto is "everyday is fry day"  and truly it is.   They have awesome french fries!!!  Seasoned and plentiful, seriously half the tray is covered in fries.   I've had the chicken sandwich, burgers, the pastrami,  and the gyro - it's all  delicious.   They just know how to cook good food.

It's always the same guys working there, which is nice makes you feel family or something.  I never park in the back lot, I always tend to park behind cupid's because that lot is bigger.   There is no a/c or anything but if you sit inside they have fans going and it's easy to get acclimated to it.

I dont know about all the hype leading up to this place.. but it's alright.  The seasoned fries are the best part of the experience.  I cant say their burger is better than any other burger I've had, but it's definitely not worse.  It's worth a try if you've never been, being that it's a pseudo landmark in the valley.

Drive in....no, not really.  More like park next door at Cupid's and walk over...

I was so excited to try out this place due to all the reviews about the AMAZING french fries....  Sadly, they were not amazing so much as they were salty and greasy....  =(

The chili tastes like Ragu spaghetti sauce with meat chunks...  The cheese however, was quite tasty.

I also had the Pastrami Sandwich.....  It was good.  The roll ended up becoming saturated in the Pastrami "juice."  (I say juice because it sounds a lot better than grease...)

Overall, I wouldn't go back.

This is just for the fries.  These are some of the best fries I've ever had, and even though I haven't been here since junior or senior year of high school, I still remember them.

I banned fast food in college, but now that I've graduated and have come back to the valley temporarily, I might visit this ghetto little restaurant once more, just for the fries.

Oh yea, minus one star for the unnecessary large portions (thus contributing to the obesity of Americans) & the soggy chicken nuggets.

Overall, if I could I'd give it three and half stars  for being a good burger joint.  But I'm giving it four stars for their outstanding fries...and for their quirky motto:  "Where every day is fry-day"

Daglas is my chili cheese fry nirvana!!

That's the main reason I go there, for the fries; they're freshly sliced thick potato wedges - fried up perfectly golden (crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside) and sprinkled with seasonings and salt.  Oh, and they serve you so many you can share with a friend or two.

But since I'm a chili cheese fries fiend, I have those amazing fries covered in a good beefy chili, diced onions and cheese.  Mmmm...they are so good.

All the other food I've had there is tasty, too.  My husband, a man of few adjectives, likes the chili burger more than any he's had in a while, including our local Tommy's.  Daglas's chocolate shakes are real thick and extremely good.

The atmosphere:  Close your eyes, whiff the grease and onions and then take it to go.

Best thing on the menu is the fries hands down. They're burgers and sandwiches are amazing as well.

They used to have a bunch of video game machines back in the day but the last time I was there they didn't have anything. I usually get a burger or even a grilled cheese with their amazing fries...

Great food!

Mmmmm, Daglas. Greazy greazy goodness and more fries than you can shake a stick at. I had to get the pastrami. When it came, it was literally buried in french fries. And I love that little outside patio you eat in. It's so valley ghetto chic.

I just love the way opinions of this place range across the board. It was introduced to me by one friend who gets this devilish look in his eyes and starts to speak in tongues: "DAGLASDAGLASDAGLAS!" Then there are the people who I point out Daglas too whose reaction is more like, "Oh god..." So it is not for everyone. But if you like greazy food, fries, burgers, pastrami, etc., you'll be happy here.

This is one of those "hole-in-the-wall" joints you have to experience to really appreciate. Anyone who's a regular usually orders the #2, which is a double-cheese burger w/ a mound of delicious seasoned fries and a large drink. My personal favorite is the the GLORIOUS pastrami sandwich (#6) with onion rings and a large drink (I usually get lemonade). The side of ranch is an extra .50 but worth the dipping pleasure. For the health nut or vegetarian, they also have a really good Greek Salad and Chicken sandwich. If you're going for lunch, try to get there by 11:30am before the lunch crowds show up. My only warning is that you're more than likely to experience a food coma from all that food you've consumed. If you haven't been to Daglas don't wait any longer. GO THERE!!

I'll start by saying that I tried this place just on a whim and had read nothing about it beforehand--that's how you find the best places, isn't it?  It was just one of those spots you drive past a hundred times and then one day you look at it and think, "Hm, I really should give it a shot."

The burgers and such at Daglas's are fairly run-of-the-mill, but the cursory items do seem lackluster.  I saw a picture of the chicken strips and opted to never try those in my life.

It's a little, dingy place, complete with 1990s-era "Neo Geo" arcade units and a mysterious mural that evokes a Mediterranean mood (?).  It's so often that these dingy little dives are actually where the good food is being served.

But, at Daglas's, the only thing to separate them from Joe's Diner are their chili fries.  These are delicious.  Sure, sure--they're very greasy.  But, they ARE chili fries, after all.  It seems like the cheese is placed under the chili--a nice way to go about it.  They're slimy and salty and I just loved every bite of them.

You may want to even eschew the burgers and such, and simply order the chili-cheese fries.  Trust me, it'll be enough.

Dag! I used to hit this place up back in tha day when I lived in the Ridge during my college days. Actually *cough* *cough* I was "in between" colleges. It's been at least 15 years and I still dream-n-drool over those fries. So sad that I can't get a hold of one right now. Hold Me!

My first time rolling up to Daglas I was a little scurred that my friend was taking me here because of the dank decor. But never, ever, judge a book by its cover. The Burgers were ehh... but those damn fries... GRUUUUUB... they were nice and crisp with a little grease(Yes sometimes they got too greasy... but there were so many you could discriminate and pick the choice bites). But it was all about the seasoning salt that was the kicker. Order a small and you get a big ass brown lunch bag half to a quarter filled. Boo-Ya! They were a meal in itself.

I wish I knew all about Gyros back then as I didn't know they served them up and I have to believe that they are nothing short of good.

0 stars for cleanliness. 4 stars for down right greasy-all-bad-for-you-but-in-a-good-way-especiall y-when-if-you-got-your-puff-on-before-going grub!

if you're looking for fries of the highest caliber daglas is the only choice in the valley... in fact, i've had fries everywhere in la and this is probably some of the best!!!

not exactly the best place on earth to hang out, but it's worth your life if you're in need of a great experience.

the only drawback is the time... they only open until 9 or 10pm depending on the day... they need to re-extend their hours!!!  would probably be the perfect late night insomniac snack...
