Wow, this place has quickly jumped to one of my go to restaurants. Came in tonight with my wife for our anniversary, and ate a bunch of Tapas Plates and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. The sautéed mushrooms with goat cheese is amazing.
Going to g back for their weekly Monday night Paella Night. Inexpensive and the type of paella changes every week. Really looking forward to the Lobster Paella Night" -

A nice cozy little place in north Boulder. We had been searching for a new place to go to and DaGabi Cucina popped up on Yelp!, so we decided to give it a go.
Wo, what a pleasent little surprise, great Tapas! They were so good we didn't even get to the dinner menu, but we hope to do that next time. -

I am not too familiar with Spanish food, but DaGabi Cucina was an excellent introduction.
First off, the ambiance and location are great. It's sort of off the beaten path (tucked away behind Lucky's in North Boulder) so it's quiet and kind of secluded. The restaurant itself is so pretty too-we got to eat on the patio and they had it all decked out in twinkle lights and candles.
Now, the important part: the food! They served us a pita type bread before our entrees with a really fantastic balsamic vinaigrette spread. I had a really difficult time choosing because everything sounded so good, but I chose the pollo vollery (a citrus tomato chicken with green beans and artichokes.) It was pitch perfect. It was definitely a memorable meal. I paired that with their house chardonnay (a steal for $6!) and it was very good.
They also had a tempting tray of desserts, but we were all so stuffed from our meals, we couldn't do it!Listed in: Fooooood!

I admit, I'm a sucker for cute little places like this. The food was excellent, patio seating was nice and the service was really great. We actually visited two nights in a row because while we were there on Monday night, we learned that Tuesday nights are tapas nights, so I insisted we return.
The first night I tried their Monday night paella, I was not disappointed (see pic). Lobster, mussels and clams, oh my! Tuesday night we tried a sampling of the tapas menu, which there was plenty to choose from. All plates were devoured. -

The food was blah, the service blah, and the ambiance was weird. I would not go back at all.
The tapas menu is disorganized and cluttered. I would much rather go anywhere else in Boulder for tapas. The tapas at this restaurant should be described as crapas. -

I enjoyed my time at DaGabi Cucina.
It started even before the dining experience. When I called to make reservations and to try to set up a surprise birthday party for my sisters, the owner got on the phone and was very accommodating.
The mood and design of the restaurant is great. Nestled in North Boulder partially hidden behind the supermarket, Lucky's, you walk in feeling like you've found some sort of a hidden gem. It's chic, clean, and cozy and therefore, would make a really wonderful date restaurant.
I split the Foccacia pizza (Ricotta, mozzarella, feta, sun dried tomato, artichoke hearts, pesto) and it was delicious. I also had a bite of the Margherita pizza (Mozzarella, fresh basil, marinara) which was very average and just all right. Similarly, the Penne Al Pollo and Fideos Con Tomate were just all right. Had I ordered the all right dishes for myself, I would have walked out disappointed.
However.
Their tiramisu is absolutely, drop-dead, 100% exquisite. It is light and fluffy and sweet (but not overly so) and creamy and just... perfect. It's perfect. My sisters were both given some as a birthday on-the-house treat, and though they generally are not Tiramisu lovers as I am, happened to love it and said that they would come back for the dessert.
I'm going to snag myself an unsuspecting boy, convince him to bring me to this place ("What? I've never tried! Let's go!") and eat my own weight in the Tiramisu. No entrees necessary.
Okay, fine. Maybe I'll have that pizza, too. -

This is my second review. The first in May 2010 was mixed. The owner responded apologetically that they had been slammed with 3x the forecast number of customers that night and offered to comp a meal. I never took advantage of the comp, but returned last night for a meal that my entire party of 4 raved about. My Sapphire martini was as good as they come with a generous pour. The food and experience were top notch. Before tip the tab was about $28/person with alcohol. That is a relative bargain in the People's Republic.

Broomfield, CO
The hubby and I took some clients here for dinner after reading the reviews on Yelp and had an enjoyable time. This restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but truly a surprising treasure.
The wine selection was broad without being overwhelming. We ordered a couple appetizers - the jumbo shrimp (enjoyed by all) and the balsamic button mushrooms (which I, a professing mushroom hater, ended up loving and eating several helpings!). Our entrees, while tasty and satisfying, were a little below the standards I expect from a upper-scale restaurant. The dessert really brought up the score in the last quarter - we sampled the coconut cheesecake which was delightful.
The service was prompt and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. Although I would recommend this eatery to anyone who hasn't been before, it will be a while before we go back. There are just too many other places to try! And while we enjoyed our meal here, it wasn't gastronomically thrilling enough to bring us back again right away.
Overall, worth a try! -

DaGabi Cucina has been on my list of 'must return to' since the July Yelp Office Hour. Prior to the office hour, I had always wondered about DaGabi. Given its unassuming spot in North Boulder, I had not gone out of my way to check it out. Thank goodness I finally made the time. Thankfully DaGabi isn't located on Pearl Street, because if it were, the line would be incessantly out the door. Seriously, it *is* that good.
My second visit was for my birthday dinner with eight of my closest friends. I could not have picked a better place to celebrate 29 years, for the third time. ::wink::
Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and warm. The biggest hits were: the sautéed button mushrooms w/ feta and honey-balsamic glaze and the steamed mussels in tomato-chili broth. Holy f*ck (edited for PG Colorado folk), it was delectable. Equally tasty were: pizza salsicia, linguini w/bolognese sauce & a touch of cream, fried calamari, sauteed greens in wine, polenta, and ruschetta. The only dish low on the satisfaction scale was the gnocchi, overcooked and the basil sauce was a tad watery.
We also ordered everything off the desert menu. You cannot go wrong w/ordering a desert at DaGabi Cucina, they offer a fantastic finish to your meal. Psst, if you are a birthday guy or gal, be sure to let your waiter/ress know, you receive a complimentary tiramisu.
Service was superb during the first visit and okay during the second visit. Our waitress seemed annoyed that we were ordering solely from the tapas menu. This is more than likely the attitude of this particular waitress, we had no attitude ordering solely from the tapas menu during the Yelp office hour. Still, DaGabi Cucina is five stars worthy! Shh, don't tell too many folk, this place has the potential to be Pearl Street happening.Listed in: Unparalleled Boulder Stops.

This was excellent. I would give more stars if I could. One could be in Spain... from the proprietor walking you to your table to the chef/gm being your most knowledgeable guide to the food. Just back from Basque Country
San Sebastian and Bilbao, we wanted a taste of Spain... and, we got it.
The empanada and the paella (with the right amount of saffron) was perfect. The amuse boche of the gazpacho had the notes of cucumber to tomato that was sublime. Fabulous. -

DaGabi Cucina may be easy to miss, but not easy to forget! Although a
little hard to find - buried in a shopping center on Broadway and Quince - it's so worth seeking out this little hidden gem! I can tell you right now: - if I lived in Boulder, I'd be a regular, no doubt about it.
Small plates are my absolute favorite way to eat, and they do them so well here. Between 7 yelpers at office hours this week, we sampled a good deal of the HH tapas menu and the tab was totally reasonable - and we had food left over, too.
Here's what I can vouch for:
- House wines - I know, right? I think the perception is that house wines can be mediocre, the rioja I sampled at HH (at $3.50 a glass) was outstanding
- Steamed fresh mussels. The spicy sauce is so flavorful, and finger-licking good. We all agreed this one was of our favorite dishes of the meal.
- Fried calamari
- Gnocchi with basil aioli
- Sauteed venus clams
- Boquerones - white anchovies with salpicon sauce over grilled bread - I could eat this every day!! That good.
- Spiedini - grilled artisan sausages with veggies. I can see how not everyone would love this, but it was a favorite for me.
- Desserts. Holy heck! We tried the chocolate flourless cake, which sent many of us into eye rolling bills, the tiramisu (quite good) and the creme brulee.
The atmosphere is cool and calming, as well, with unique decor. It was too warm for me to sit on the patio, but it was packed by the time we left - quite lovely.
Service was spectacular and attentive without being overly so.
Five stars, DaGabi. -

I've been to Da Gabi many times over the years and had usually found it pretty good, except for large parties when the service is sometimes wanting. But, I think I remember finding it not as good as it used to be the last time we went here (2 years ago), and perhaps that's why we hadn't been back in so long. But tonight, I just wanted to go somewhere close by, and I wanted pasta, so we decided on Da Gabi's. I'm sorry we did.
Tonight, it wasn't so good. Everything tasted bland. Nothing had much flavor at all, except for my glass of Ruta Malbec Patagonia wine.
We started with the Espinaca Ensalada -- spinach salad -- and found the dressing bland. If it wasn't for the gorgonzola cheese, and the pepper I added later, there would have been no flavor at all.
Next, for our main courses, we ordered the Pollo Marsala (chicken in Marsala wine and mushroom sauce) and the special fish dish -- Bacalao Garbanzos with the Romenesco sauce. Again, both were very, very bland, especially the sauces. The capers in the Romenesco sauce had no flavor at all. In fact nothing on that plate had any flavor. We had to put a lot of pepper on everything to give some.
As for the Pollo Marsala... well, I make this myself at home and have had it at many restaurants over the years, so I know what it's SUPPOSED to taste like, but this too was very bland. Even the accompanying vegetables were bland. Now this is something we've ordered here before and I know it isn't supposed to be this tasteless, so I'm thinking something must be wrong in the kitchen tonight. Maybe the chef has a cold?? Maybe it's not the regular chef?? I don't know, but we were very disappointed in tonight's meal. I won't be back every again. -

Ouch.
My poor boyfriend. Poor, poor guy. My dad was in town and told him to choose a place he wanted to go for his birthday. He chose DaGabi. He'd never been there before. But he loves pizza, and he'd heard the pizza was good.
It wasn't. And hardly anything else was either.
The night was a comedy of errors. Our waiter looked to be about 16 (though he couldn't have been, since he was serving alcohol) and acted like it was his first day on the job. Here, I shall give you some sample dialogue:
My dad: Do you have scallops tonight?
Waiter: Uh, I think so.
My dad: How are they cooked?
Waiter: Uh, I'm not sure.
My dad: Will you go check?
Waiter: Uh, yeah, let me check. ::leaves for two minutes:: Uh, they're sauteed.
He was similarly knowledgable about wine. But hey, he was nice, and he was trying, so instead of being angered by him, I chose to be amused instead.
Now, it was a Tuesday night at 6pm, we were practically the only people in the restaurant, and they were out of two of the items I tried to order. If they're out of stuff at 6pm, what are they out of at 10pm??
As for the food...
The good: the tiramisu. They should just open a tiramisu stand on Pearl St and be done with it. Also, the gnocchi appetizer was pretty tasty, if tiny.
The average: The Arctic Char special, which was cooked perfectly and was garnished with tender chickpeas, but had an aggressively bland (yes, an oxymoron, but weirdly accurate) tomato sauce that really blah-ified it.
Aaaand the bad: I had to spit a clam out from the clam appetizer because it was clearly rotten. Dan's calzone tasted like rubbing alcohol. My pasta with spring vegetables was roughly on par with Noodles & Company's. And the bill ended up being around $100.
It started out sort of amusing, but at the end of the night I just felt kind of mildly sick and wanted to go home and pull a blanket over my head. Save your money and your tastebuds and avoid this place. Go next door to China Gourmet or something. For $25 less per head you'll leave spicy and satisfied. -

I've been wanting to try this place for eons. Finally grabbed a couple of our foodie friends and made a date for this past weekend.
We thought the food was great and really quite reasonably priced. My husband had the gnocchi ($14) which was delicious. It had sausage in it that was simply mouthwatering. Our friend had the ravioli ($15, I think) which was also superb. If I were to return when they had this same menu, I'd definitely pick one of these two. My own choice was okay, but not nearly as good: the lamb risotto ($18). Sounds sensational, right? The risotto was texturally wrong, not being very creamy. Almost more like sticky rice. Boo. Our other friend got the pizza ($11) which was good, but I don't really like judging an restaurant like this on their pizza.
The atmosphere is nice and suitable for a romantic night out. Service was fine, but we did have one flub on the part of the waiter. We spent a great deal of time at the end of the meal going over their coffee options (no drip coffee, you can get a French press but it is too much for one person, etc). Finally my friend orders a cappuccino, and it never arrives. At least it wasn't on the bill. The waiter also seemed a bit put out when we mentioned we wanted to see the dessert tray. (Hey, I'm happy to read a printed menu, but if you only have the option of a presentation, don't act like it is a burden to read the names of the desserts as you point to them.)
In sum, pretty good Italian food in Boulder. Try it.Listed in: It's a Date!

I had dinner at this place last night and it was wonderful. They had a special menu for the night and I had the Santa Cecilia Salad as my entree. It was the perfect size and the tastes were very interesting, like nothing I've had before. My mother had the Paella which I tried and it was delicious. We also had a salad with blue cheese, strawberries and walnuts that was amazing.
The ambiance was very pleasant, not too loud, but not too quiet. It had very dim lighting and rustic walls which made it feel like you were somewhere else. The waiters were very pleasant and quiet, they did not bother us too much, the just seemingly floated around the restaurant and were only there when you needed them.
Its is pretty far out in North Boulder but I think that makes it special. -

I miss this restaurant...I used to live a block away and I would eat there all the time! Hands down the best martini's in Boulder! They're huge, delicious and creative! My favorite dish is the penne pollo..my mouth is watering just thinking about it now. I may just have to make a trip up there for this dinner alone...
Oh yeah, the bread is dynamite! -

Good atmosphere - semi-dim lighting with modern style approach. Good selection on the menu too. I really want to like this place, because it seems to have so much potential. The greeting you get by the host(s) is always good. Been here about a half dozen times. I can summarize it by saying the food just isn't that tasty. It's not horrible by any stretch just bland and way unseasoned. Seems like they could easily fix this with a good chef. Service is hit or miss.
My original review was 2 stars, and have come to realize that 3 stars is more accurate. -

What a cool place..kind of hard to find but it is well worth it.
It looked like they had great entrees but the appetizers sounded and looked delightful. We just missed happy hour but the apps are reasonable and there is an option for a red or white $20 bottle of wine. Done!
This was perfect for my belated birthday dinner with my hot lady date, aka my bff that lives in Boulder. She and I ordered the crab/salmon cakes, shrimp wrapped in bacon, a potato/egg tortilla number (similar to a quiche) and the calamari which was outstanding!
Each appetizer was served with a bit of salad, with no dressing...seemed like a waste but we used the dressing from the yummy bread they served beforehand to douse the greens.
Our waitress was great and gave us a free tiramisu for my birthday. This one is in my top five, ever.
What a great start to the night. I'd come back for the bread, calamari and tiramisu anyday! -

Ok, so I agree with Phill B, this is one of Boulder's best kept secrets! It's in North Boulder, in the same plaza as Lucky's and China Gourmet, and the liquor store. Ha, it's basically a super plaza.
Dagabi has the most amazing pancetta wrapped grilled jumbo shrimp. They are seriously amazing. And they are part of the happy hour menu. Go for these, and you can't go wrong.
The bartenders and servers are also extremely friendly, and pretty cute as well. Staff is knowledgeable, and the ambience is fantastic. You would never guess this place existed; it really is as nice as anything on Pearl Street... but it's tucked away in Nobo. Oh, and they have a fantastic patio.
The back room bar is my new favorite spot!Listed in: my fave happy hours in…

Review from Graham S.
Yelp led me here as it certainly doesn't get a lot of press within Boulder, and as everyone else here as stated this is a great restaurant hidden from the crowds of Pearl.
Great interior, I enjoyed how they segregated the dining into a few different rooms which helped spread out the guests and offered them the ability to split families from couples. Classy, yet not overdone.
Food was pretty good, I'll hold off saying its great (and the fifth star) till I go back and try some more. I had the Gnocchi which was amazing, great taste with the sausage.
Pasta portions are smaller as the restaurant tries to sell you on a two/three course dinner. Don't go in and just order a Pasta dish.
Service was alright, but I might be misinformed as a college student who is typically left alone by waiters to enjoy my company. -
Review from Alicea W.
I went to Dagabi for the first time for high school prom, and had a really good meal. Now that my tastes have matured, I can still say that I love Dagabi. For appetizer, I like the melanzane con caprino (a grilled eggplant stuffed with cheese). Their pastas are homemade and fresh; my favorites are the Pappardelle alla Bolognese (pasta ribbons in meat sauce), the Penne al Pollo (includes artichoke hearts in a pesto sauce), and the Zuppa di Pesce (seafood over linguini). The best time of dinner at Dagabi is dessert time though, as the server brings out a large plate of all the dessert options for you to drool over. Although they all look good, I always get the Zabaglione (this absolutely delicious liquid custard thingy with marsala wine).
I can eat the Zabaglione until I get drunk on it, and then keep eating it until I am hungover from it the next day. Oh, note to high school prom-goers: this probably won't be a good choice for you... -

Great food, great atmosphere, and BEST cappuccino I've ever had!
(Same coffee used at Trident, Cafe Sole, and Page Two cafés)
Some food gets pricey, but I had a pizza and it was affordable, tasty, and I took home leftovers.
Dagabi is a great place to go for a date. The dining area is nice for an on-the-town kind of dinner. The outdoor dining tent is perfect on a summer night. I recommend eating in the bar area for a local, upscale, Cheers kind of atmosphere.
...And for dessert, or just a treat, I HIGHLY recommend the cappuccino with a bowl of chocolate gelato. Dipping spoonfuls of gelato into the cappuccino is just heavenly! -

Ok, I have a tendency to ramble on when I like something. I can wax poetic about a great dining experience. I have done so, right here on yelp, more than once. As for Dagabi,
Just. Not. Good. At. All.
Except for the bendaroos that my kids totally loved (cool idea, but not actually food, just a pre-meal alternative to crayons or whining), we just should've hit Il Pastaio. Will not make this mistake again. -

Love this restaurant. Kind of hidden and low key, not flashy. We went there in March and I am excited to go back with another couple this evening. I will have to get the Mushroom appetizer again wtih a glass of wine.

Longmont, CO
Disappointed--I was expecting at least a four star experience here, but a combination of less than perfect food and a disdainful, slow waiter put the damper on the meal.
For starters, I love grilled polenta, but the appetizer we got was just firm and not crunchy at all, which is how I like it. However, it was tasty.
We also shared a white pizza with shrimp and I couldn't eat it. My husband liked it fine, but there was something in the topping that really made it inedible for me--a sweetness that shouldn't have been there.
The kids had pastas which were all right, but nothing super special.Listed in: Mamma Mia

I love me some Dagabi! This is my favorite place in Boulder for tapas, even though I live nowhere near the restaurant. The house wine for happy hour is always good, the do a paella special every week (I want to say Mondays and it is around $12) , the gnocchi is awesome, the service is good, the happy hour list and prices are amazing. Let's just say for 2-3 people at happy hour, wine and more food than we can eat the bill is usually in the 25-45 range. De-licious!

Review from Chris N.
Boulder, CO
First time I went here it was terrific. Authentic and stylish. Boy has it lost it's way! It used to serve rustic Italian food, now it serves a mixture of Spanish and Italian and does both in a mediocre way.
If ever there was a restaurant that needed a visit from Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares it is Dagabi. It just doesn't have an identity any more.
The menu is way too big. Clearly there is some talent in the kitchen but they can't pull this off. The tomatoes in the salad were so unripe they were like apples. No caring chef would send that out. The rest of the food was passable but just not quite right. Not enough seasoning in one, too much oil on another. We left to have dessert at a restaurant that seemed to give a damn, so I can't comment upon that.
I see that a lot of the recent reviews are about happy hour. I think that is part of the problem as when we went the patio was full with some pretty drunk people with smokers hanging around on the other side of the railing puffing back towards the tables - somewhat missing the point.
I get that Happy Hour can get people to try a restaurant, but to do so at the expense of full paying customers seems crazy.
The service was inept and rude, with the staff seeming to be squabbling with one another. Our waiter was quite simply an idiot. When my wife didn't hear him offer pepper on her salad (?) he aggressively yelled "Hey Lady". This has become a standing joke to get her attention so at least something good came from the meal!
Can we have the old Dagabi back please? This town has too many good places for such mediocrity. -

when tourists, students, and other people not in-the-know are suffering out a 2 hour wait at Pasta Jays or The Med, you could go here.
Dagabi is a hidden gem in North Boulder. They have wonderful, fresh, Italian food, tapas, happy hour, pizza, and a bar.
The food is truly amazing (I ha portobella mushroom soup and butternut squash ravioli with brown sage butter) an the prices, while not cheap, are reasonable. Also, they have pizza that is comporable in price to any other pizza joint, if you're on a budget.
Cost is about the same as pasta jay's but the quality is better.Listed in: Vegetarian Grub in Boulder

It used to just be ok, but since my mom's friend took over some of the ownership I love going there! They have Paella on mondays! (Which is a Spanish dish!) They also have Tapas on tuesdays! What I also like is that they are starting to give a gluten free option for their pizza, pasta, and deserts! Overall an awesome place, nice aura, and wonderful people especially the manager! This is a great place for anybody who wants a taste of Spanish food, but they also have Italian food still! On the question about reservations, you don't always need one, but it's good to make one incase they are really busy.

This place is a solid Italian restaurant. I lived right around the corner from it growing up and it was always a treat. Off the bat, the bread with balsamic dressing is delicious could go there just for that. Everything I've had has been good as well. I like that the dishes aren't the heavy, chunky, and rich dishes that most seem to be. I'm sure you could find those on the menu, but everything I've had is a little more subtle yet flavorful.

My family and I have been eating here almost since is opened, and I've never had a bad meal. Recently, I've only eaten here during the holidays, as we try to escape the holiday food and all the effort that goes with it. Dagabi serves lovely soups and salads, nice thin crust pizzas and excellent pasta dishes. I've never had any of the larger (meat) plates, but everyone else has loved them - filling, but not overly rich.
Recently I had the squash and sweet-potato soup - I'm sorry I didn't ask for the recipe it was so light, unexpected and perfectly spiced. My husband and I split the walnut / cooked apple / cheese salad and they were kind enough to split it to two plates - the service has always been thoughtful and quick. Such a light meal left room for desert and they have great desserts.
A lovely, relaxed place. Our neighborhood choice. I hope they continue to thrive.Listed in: Vacation Finds

Ok so I gave it another chance. Alas, I got the paella monday night special. Portion was small. You could tell that it was not cooked in the traditional manner or with the proper rice; It had more the texture of overcooked risotto than paella. It's a shame because the ingredients appeared to be pretty good but the execution was sub-par; mushy rice and pasta is not cool! I'm pretty pissed about it so I'm gonna open my own restaurant and serve homemade pasta simply and well cooked, boulder needs it!

Longmont, CO
This was a great find! After reading the reviews, I decided to try it with my family. I took my sister, her husband, and my two nephews for dinner. The fresh bread they serve is delicious, fresh out of the oven, hot, and the garlicky dipping sauce is wonderful as well. We started with some tapas, had the meatball (okay), the bruschetta (delicious with bold garlic flavor), the clams in garlic and wine sauce (YUM!), and the polenta (perfectly crisp with a great garnish of goat cheese and tomatoes). We also ordered the appetizer of calamari for the kids, which they loved.
For dinner, one nephew had the kid's penne alfredo, which he said was "the best ever" and cleaned up completely, and the other had the cannelloni, which he also loved. I had the seafood stew which was so yummy! Again, lots of garlic which I love, and a bit of a kick with the spice. My sister had the paella, which she said was excellent, as did my brother in law about his pizza. All dishes were a good size, and we took about half the pizza home (my sis and I had pretty much picked out all of the seafood in our dishes, so it was pointless). overall price for 5 people, a lot of food, and 2 glasses of wine: $125, which I think is very reasonable.
I would have given them 5 stars, had it not been for the service. Our waiter was okay, but definitely not spectacular. My wine glass was empty for over 10 minutes before he came to see if I'd like another glass, but since my dinner was almost done, I passed. He seemed to disappear for long periods of time even though we were there at 5 when they opened, and there were very few other tables. When I asked about dessert, he handed me the menu and told me there were a couple at the bottom of the specials page and walked away. He came back several minutes later and just said, "well?", to which I replied, "are there any others, or just these two?". He begrudgingly went to retrieve the dessert tray. Hopefully it was just an off night for him, but as I said, he was the only thing that kept this from being a five star rating. -

It's in an old, uninteresting strip mall in north Boulder -- and this is part of its charm. You don't have to hassle with downtown Boulder parking or crowds. The inside is done in an interesting and cost-effective manner. But the food is the draw (as it obviously should be). From the bread and the strangely awesome vinaigrette dipping sauce to the soups, salads, pastas, fish, etc., this is the place for a great, relaxed, cozy, Italian dining night out.

brought the sweetie here for her birthday dinner. and though it was oddly situated in a strip mall like area, the interior made you forget where you were and had nice ambiance (warm carved wood, brick walls, ambient lighting). we started with some crab croquettes (delicious!) and bruschetta with trout (tasty!). then had paella (disappointingly served on a plate and not on a paella pan like we're used to, and didn't seem like it had simmered long enough for the rice to absorb all the flavors) and a salmon "empanada" which was deceiving since it was wrapped in phyllo pastry (tasty but the pastry was not flaky and the accompanying green beans seemed oddly paired), then topped it off with a flourless chocolate tart on an almond crust and drizzled with marsala cream sauce (yummers!). To wash that all down, we each had a strong and tasty mixed drink (hers was a martini, mine was a sidecar) that I ended up finishing for both of us since her liver's healthier than mine (heh heh). overall, quite a nice experience!
