This place is far and away the best BBQ in Boulder. Upon entrance of this southern style gem, I was greeted by Old Daddy Bruce himself banging out a tune on his broken down piano. I ordered the combination plate of BBQ brisket and pork ribs (enough food for 2 meals). It was absolutely delicious, the sauce reminded me of Memphis. I would certainly recommend this place over any BBQ place in Colorado.

P.S. dress lightly as the lack of air conditioning makes the place feel like its about 100 degrees

Happy to be reminded of Daddy Bruce's today by another Yelper's review!

The original Daddy Bruce's was (is it still there?) in Denver.  Run by Bruce Randolph himself.  This Boulder Daddy Bruce's is run by his son.  It was probably his son playing the piano.  Of course, he is Daddy Bruce now...for all practical purposes.

There is a full menu of all the BBQ staples here, and the meats, the sauce, and the sides are all just the way BBQ should be.

I remember going to this place when my daughter was a tiny baby, less than a month old, and we lived in the married student housing complex of apartments that sprawls behind Daddy Bruce's friendly little white shack.

Before it was Daddy Bruce's, it was Uncle Joe's Plantation Barbecue, and that was a very good place too.

The sauce, and the way they cook the meat here, are legendary.

Also, the love with which the food is prepared...that is very nice.

Best barbecue in Boulder\Denver area. The ribs are the thing to go here for but the brisquit is also very good.. The sauce is tangy, aromatic, sweet, a littly salty and vinegary, and wonderful. The meat falls right off the bone on the ribs. They've been making food here the same way for decades in the same little shack and I hope they never change.

Lately I have been reading reviews here that remind me of my childhood and teendom. Daddy Bruce is one of those places. (Check out the coooool Daddy Bruce pix and graphic in my photos.)

This is the best barbecue I've ever had and, I suspect, the best I ever will have. It's not just because the tastes of Daddy Bruce are wrapped in the good memories of living in Boulder during the mid-1970's as a high school and college student, before a lot of shopping centers, before the Pearl St. Mall, and before all the contrived, crappy architecture that litters Boulder now; and surely not because Boulder High and Sewall Hall, my freshman dorm at CU, were both within smelling range of Daddy Bruce if the wind was blowing just right.

No, Daddy Bruce stands on its own no matter what. It's a hut with two stools, 1-2 small tables, and a piano. Literally. A little white hut plunked down in what has become the surrounding housing developments that have sprouted up over the years.  The smoke from the cooking billows out of this place non-stop. When you drive down Arapahoe Rd within any reasonable distance of Daddy Bruce, the smell of a fresh Summer afternoon rain or a crisp, piney Fall day all recede and yield to the smell of meat cooking in whatever it is the Daddy Bruce Randolph family has cooked it in all these years. It always smells the same.

I get to Boulder once every few years, still, and one of the first things I always do is at least drive by Daddy Bruce, just to smell and breathe it, even if I don't immediately partake.
