Average city course for a decent price. We played it at twilight for $18.50 which was a good deal.
Short course that you can score well at if even if you're not hitting it good.
The greens are slow with a couple of tricky dog legs.
I don't think I'd play it for full price, but I'm always looking for those under $20 courses that barely exist... -

I remember this course being a lot more enjoyable back when I was growing up...But then again I remember my dad being the strongest man alive!! This course is at times challenging (i.e. holes 15, 16 and 18) but mostly its flat, short and forgettable.
**Funny observation's 4 and 16 play side by side in different directions and are the same length give or take 10 yards. Hole 4 is a par 4 and Hole 16 is a par 3. They are both on flat ground and have the same amount of bunkers. Why is there a difference??**
The slow play equation is as follows...Cheap rates, Hacks, walking Asian golfers, Many 5 somes, and poor golf etiquette. Unfortunately Dad's has it all so expect a long day on the course. -

A really good course layout!!!
But just a few things that I am not to thrilled about. First of all the price for this course on a regular time and on weekends is a bit too steep for what it is.
Second is the sprinklers!!! Can they seriously just wait after the sun is gone to turn them on. I played during twilight and the sprinklers turned on on us. Ridiculous!
Third would be the tee times are impossible to get! They tend to give you crappy tee times.
As for the layout of the course, is pretty good. They have some long par 4s with challenging dog legs. The roughs is pretty shallow so its a forgiving course. The greens are in good shape.
Also worth mentioning, they have the best hot dogs! hehe =P -

This wasn't a bad course, but for some reason it just didn't leave me with a good feeling or desire to come back.
The Course: The front 9 was in very good shape from tee to green. But the layout for the entire course was boooorring. There were honsetly only a few "memorable holes" and it was because they were so bad.
Like I said, the front 9 is OK. You get the feeling that you're playing a nice, honest muni, which you are. Then on the back 9 comes the "oh yeah..." holes. First it's a par 4 alongside a driving range net. Then a 100 yard par 3 over a creek. Follow that with a goofy par 4 dogleg with a creek and no yardage markers. To make matters worse, the ranger told us it was 250 to clear the creek and after we hit he said he wasn't sure. Thanks buddy. The next hole was another dogleg where my buddies perfect drive hit telephone wires.
The last few holes of the back 9 return to normal but 10-15 are not a good time.
Facilities: Good clubhouse, nice people working there. Tiger Woods learning center and driving range is across the street. Putting green is nice.
Pace of play: I heard this place slows down to a crawl, but we played on Mother's Day and it was not crowded, finished in about 4 hours, 15 minutes. Not bad at all.
Value: Tough call. I mean, the Dad Miller is in good shape and is a well run course. They layout is what it is, they make the most of it. You're not going to get a deal here unless you live in Anaheim. Otherwise they post 1 or 2 tee times on GolfNow every day. It's also not a very difficult course.
This course is a hard one to explain for me. It's probably nice than River View and harder than Willowick, but I would probably go back to those courses before I would return to Dad Miller.Listed in: SoCal Golf

Great instructors, great layout, not the great pricing though...
When you want to play on a nice sunny day, then play here because the greens are very alive and "green" and you can find some shade with the plentiful trees that surround the course.
I actually took lessons from one of the instructors (James) and upped my game to a whole new level ever since. He encouraged me to continue playing this course, which I do with my coworkers and friends.
Pricing could be lower, especially during twilight, but if you really want to play, then look past the green fees and book a tee time here.
Only cons would be the pricing and some of players that start during the twilight hours can be really slow. -

A Buddy of mine from the 888 Cigar Club decided to go golfing today after a few discussions of our golf game. Some how after all the mouthing off we where doing we decided we where only going to use 2 clubs, our 7 irons and putters.
It was a nice but HOT day on the course today, If you never played here before its a pretty easy course and quite enjoyable. Needless to say this was my first time ever doing something like this, we only used our 7 irons and had a blast doing it. I shot a 101 and he shot a 91. Now this was the first time I played in a few years and this is what happens when you get a bunch of guys hanging out at a cigar club lol -

Got a bucket of baaaawwwwwls and tried out the driving range.
Driving range is across the street. Had to walk back and forth to buy balls, then back to range, then down the busy line of Sunday-nighters. Found a nice spot and made fools of ourselves, but it was fun.
There was a wedding, so the cafe bar area was closed. That might have made it even more fun . . . but we found beers elsewhere. I'll go again.

so, this is like one of the home course of Tiger Wood when he was growing up.
Me & my bro. can proud to say it's our home course, too after living at Anaheim for more than 18 years, and that comes with a reward-Make sure you have your driver license/something with your current address if you live in Anaheim, tell the cashier you're Anaheim resident, you get some discount.
The course itself is not bad, well maintain. After your first 9 holes, you can get stop at the 'drive thru.' of the club house for some sandwich/hot dog/drink. (well, you'll find a short stair going up, but it's very convenient like a drive thru.). Then, there's probably my only complain about the course if any, you'll drive your cart across the street without any traffic light stopping the up-coming cars, so be careful if you're like me-usually don't pay insurance for your rental golf cart.
next to the 10th hole is where they have the new building for Tiger's golf training center, very cool.
on the 18th hole (500+ yard, par 4) is where I can admire someone like Tiger, he gets on with 2 shots. That's usually the time I go home, wish I was Tiger. ^^Listed in: ~all the yelping that get me…

Ok, this isn't a 5-star resort, but there is a place and time to play this course. You have to put this course in perspective...think saving $$$$. Here are some tips:
- play mid-day during the week. NEVER on a weekend. NEVER on a holiday. And NEVER after 2pm because the high schoolers practice or have their inter-league matches.
- the twilight special might be ok. It's a muni course so there are people that are slow. You're rolling the dice. If you really need to get some golf in, this is still worth the green fees.
- look for the internet specials on their website. They have a foursome during the weekday for $81...you're not going to find an 18-hole course in Orange County for that price.
- it's a muni course so quick the whining. What did you expect??? The course is in good shape. Greens are fair. It's not the most challenging course and it doesn't have the country club features, but again, for the money you can't miss. You want an immaculate course, go to Tustin Ranch or Strawberry Farms....green fees are at least $100/day vs. $37 at Dad Miller.
Have fun. Hit'em straight. And go low! -

Even for a municipal course, this course is subpar. The course is not very challenging, the fairways are not in great condition, the layout is very tight, and, with one or two possible exceptions, the holes are not very memorable. I felt as though I was constantly yielding to errant golfers who somehow found their way to the middle of the fairway I was on. Also, on the weekends, play is very slow.

This is basically an easy course to walk and play. Well-maintained and affordable. Built in 1961 and designed by Dick Miller. This place has a lot of history. Gets crowded at times, course features a lake with lovely trees surrounding the fairways and can easily be walked.

Played right at twilight and barely got in all 18. They are pushing twilight back to 2 pm starting 2/1/09, so there will be no chance to finish after then. Easy course to walk. Pace was decent for first 6 holes until the first par 3, then it was a wait at every hole until the end. Lots of bare spots and dying grass on most fairways. Some tees were uneven, and most had divot damage. You get what you pay for here. Not a very challenging course, as many very short par 4's. I'm not usually one to complain about courses, but don't think I'll be back here.

Fairways and greens were in good condition when I played on Saturday. The pace was very slow. Even half of the course was empty after the rain started, it still took us 5.5 hours to finish. That's why I gave a 3 instead of 4. Players on the course were nicest I have ever met though. The group behind ours never hit over us. They also picked up the wedges & head covers which left behind by players in our group. I will definitely go back again.

talk about a municipal course! the driving range is across the street, not easy to practice with cars whizzing by. the fairways are dry and full of divots, the greens are just okay, the marshall is a stalking, fascist dictator and they'll force a single onto your 3some, even if he's an 80 yr old man WALKING and you're on carts. why tiger picked this place for his school, i'll never know.

golfing here is like golfing on the streets. busy course on the weekends. and the conditions are not that great. if you're looking for a great course this is not it. but if you just want to practice and get you're game up to par then this place is alright.
