At one point in Boulder County restaurant history, I am pretty sure I remember this restaurant evolving from Neopolitan's in Nederland, a mountain favorite for the multitudes for so many years, now gone. I know the menu was quite similar to Neo's when D'Napoli first began.
And over the years D'Napoli has gotten better and better. The specials are so creative, it's fun and safe to try the specials here! It's always packed full of people when we go here, and the waiting area is pleasant enough. Never really a problem.
The garlic rolls are unique and consistently yummy. Good wine selection, if a nondrinker like me can say that (o:
I personally prefer dining in and hanging out in the very back room.
Stuffed shells and the way they do eggplant here are two of my personal favorites. But then again I have so many favorites here.
Wish I were having dinner here tonight, but, alas, my co-diners want to go to CPK. Oh, well....perhaps another night....

Let me just say it, I love D'Napoli. I try to think of the downsides, but I really don't see them. Maybe the portions are too large? Hardly a drawback.
It's a solid 5 stars... Here is a reason for each star:
1 STAR: The gnocchi is incredible. A slight browned edge for texture, but not overcooked. Add the gnocchi to the chicken abruzzo or the mussels fresca, and you have my favorite Italian meal in Boulder.
2 STARS: I love the antipasto salad. Fresh greens, roasted red peppers and onions, assorted meats, soft mozzarella, pepperoncini's.... I'm not sure where you can get a traditional antipasto salad in Boulder other than D'Napoli.
3 STARS: The garlic rolls are sooooo good. I've heard that if you have them when they come out of the oven, any employee there would choose them over dessert. The dough couldn't be better.
4 STARS: Here's another secret... the Happy Hour is the best in Boulder. Half off everything! Better than Boulder Caf, the Med, you name it. They have a locals-only backroom bar that is the only hidden gem in the downtown area. Don't tell anyone though! Seriously, don't let the secret get out or I will be pissed and sabotage your yelp page!
5 STARS: I guess they also have a secret weapon... Rocco the bartender. The dude mixes up the meanest margaritas in Boulder... send me a message if you disagree! Their Rosso Diavlo Marg is all top-shelf and is finished with pomegranate juice. I know, a margarita in an Italian joint? Don't be dismayed. It's their best-seller, and will top any marg in Boulder. That's my guarantee. Go ahead, I welcome any challenges. Be sure you get it on happy hour though, because it's a full pint and can get expensive.
So, there you go. 5 STARS to D'Napoli. Remember, keep a tight lip about the back room bar!

So, I had been pursuing this girl for close to a year, and I finally got a date with her. Her being Italian like me, I took her to D'Napoli, one of Boulder's best Italian places. She got drunk and freaky on the wine. I got full on the Fra Diavlo, some of the best I'd ever had.
This is a charming little place right next to Sherpa's. It's got the luxury of being downtown while still being out of the way enough that you don't feel overwhelmed all the time. If you can, get a spot on the patio and enjoy the meal. This is great, authentic Italian fare.
As for the girl, well, she didn't really work out so well. But I still remember fondly the Fra Diavlo.
