This salon does an AWESOME job with manicures and pedicures. My nails look beautiful every time I leave! My nails look great and the nail polish lasts a little longer than usual when I get it done here. It's a great neighborhood salon, they always do a great job and they're always really friendly.

The threadist on the other hand, is horrible. I've been to her twice (it was an eyebrow/unibrow emergency) and she messed up my eyebrows so badly I ended up having to go to the lady my mom sees on Devon to get them fixed. She made them so thin and uneven. It was horrible, she's never coming near me with her little floss again!

3/15/07: What a cute salon. Went on a whim today.   Thanks for the great do! Was supposed to have sushi, though, not a haircut...my bad

later 2007:  I've been in here several times this year for a sweet cut and it always turns out perfect.

I am going in here today, 4/29/08, and hoping the girl is still around from last year - seems she might be, judging from the great compliments on the hairstylies by the other yelpers.

Got a GREAT pedicure here. Very friendly service. Not the cheapest pedi around, but well worth the money. I like to keep my toenails very short, and had removed my polish and trimmed just two days before I stopped into this place. Some places will not even clip or file my toenails, but this guy took the time to file each nail down to a nice, even shape.

Usually I can do without the leg/foot massage, but I was pleasantly surprised by the business you get here--none of that cupped-hand calf-slapping while the pedicurist stares at the TV mounted in the corner of the ceiling. This tension-reliving rubdown was paired with a refreshing exfoliating scrub for the lower leg--which smelled REALLY good, btw.

No power tools or rasps here, but the sole scraping was adequate, and he did pay extra attention to rough spots. Polish application was flawless, and a week and a half later, it still is.

Stop in on "Toes Tuesday," when pedis are $5 off.

I was here with my girlfriend the other day and I really can't understand these reviews.  First off, the guy at the front desk hardly acknowledged us and didn't even bother getting off the phone ... not what I'd call friendly.  Of course,  I was expecting it to be really nice inside with a cool Italian business name like "D'Bellagio", but this place was a literal hole in the wall (yes, there really was a hole in the wall).  Sorry, I can't picture "movie stars" going into here.

The best was yet to come. I was shocked as I saw the "hair stylist" cut huge chucks of hair at a time, even struggling to mash the scissors into the clump of hair.  Where did this woman learn to cut hair?  She was finished with the massacre in 15 minutes.

So I'm out $40 and I had to drive my girlfriend out to Niles to get her hair done at her regular place.  Thank you Yelp!

I've been getting my hair done here for about a year. The service is great, and they do a good job with hair cuts and coloring. It isn't super pricey like other salons, and if you're a UIC student, you get a discount.

I only come here to get my eyebrows threaded, so I cannot rate the hair and nail service.  The woman does a great job. She's quick and clean. I used to go to the place across the street for my eyebrows, and it felt kind of dirty.  $10 for nice eyebrows...i think it's worth it.

This is a great neighborhood salon.  They are very flexible and will do their best to accommodate my schedule for a weekly manicure.  Fair prices and nice people!

I would politely disagree with the comment A.C. wrote about the salon.  I have been a regular for almost 2 years now and the staff there are incredibly friendly and accommodating.  The manager goes out of his way to provide everyone, new and old clients, a pleasant experience.  In the 2 years I have been coming to the salon, I have seen many of Chicago's social elites and even several movie stars coming and going into the salon.

The best part is that I get the same girl shaping and cleaning my eyebrows everytime.  I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.  I definitely would give this family own salon a try. Remember to ask for the manager when setting up a complicated appointment.  Beware of the parking though.  Avoid the lunch hours if possible.  Price is reasonable especially considering it's Downtown.

Unlike the other Yelpers, I'm not a big fan of this place.  The woman who cut my hair did a good job, but the lady at the front desk was rude.  I had a 12:00 appointment and arrived at 11:30.  When I told her I was there for a haircut, she look confused.  I told her I had made an appointment for 12, and she said, "You are 30 mins early!" but not in a friendly way.  She tried convincing me into getting a pedicure while I waited even though I kept refusing.  So, I told her I would just walk around and come back.  When I returned 20 minutes later, she didn't know what I was there for.  Her customer service skills were sub-par.  I felt uncomfortable there and couldn't wait to get my hair cut over with.  It turned out ok, though shorter than I wanted.

The perfect location for UIC students such as myself!  Its reasonably priced and not a big chain so you get personalized treatment.. I advise you to make an appointment though, they aren't always open for walk ins..

I was a regular at this salon until I wanted 30 minutes to get my eyebrows done and they allowed someone to just cut in front of me.   The threading is not so spectactular to wait (shame on me!) plus they rip you off with the "threading club" for $45 so they can charge you 5 dollars when that's what everyone else charges.  Get real! I will not go back there.  Betty and Nick's threading is way better and is worth the wait.
