To be fair, I don't know that much about cars and consider myself to be maintenance retarded.
What I do know is that if you are quoted a price, the service is supposed to stay within the quoted price or the shop should at least let you know of any changes to be made. Granted, the quote should also be given to you that day or within the week if the service shop is doing their job.
I also know that customers are to pay for their service in full at the completion of whatever deal is struck.
My car was in need of a makeover and was sitting at D&L for 2-3 weeks before any parts were ordered and any work began. I was told that it would take 1-2 weeks to get my car back but I didn't get to pick it up for over a month.
Vatche told me he was giving me a deal and promised me that he would give me just as good a deal if not better than my usual mechanic. He also asked if I could get him $300 the next day to which I said no but said I would write a check the following week for $1k. The location being closer to work and to home, I left my car in his hands.
Having financial troubles I spoke with D&L about picking up my car when it was ready and paying the rest of my balance that following Friday. They approved but the morning I showed up to pick up my car after returning my rental, Vatche decided that I could not have my car until full payment was made. The loss of a vehicle was very inconvenient and I was not happy with the inconsistent manner in which this matter was handled.
In hindsight, I should have not have left my car at D&L Motors for many reasons. The most obvious indicator was that they failed to begin working on my car for weeks while it sat in their shop which forced me to accumulate a high car rental fee. The second red flag was the rude experience of being told to pay upfront, given an alternative route of payment and then having that verbal agreement broken with no forewarning or apology. Had I not been so desperate, I would have given this much thought and gone elsewhere.
MBs may be better treated at this location even though the Mercedes dealership is right around the corner but D&L does not treat other cars well.
Ok, I usually take my E320 in to the dealer to service. My car was shifting hard/ not shifting. The dealer said they needed to rebuild the whole transmission, I couldn't afford that and was stressing out. My choice was to sell the car or try a second opinion. I found D & L Mercedes. I have to say first impression I noticed how clean and professional the place looked. I was impressed. They diagnosed the car and found out that a valve body electric part inside the transmission that controls the shifting was the only thing that needed to be replaced. They took care of it. I am very happy. They were very polite. Thumbs up! This is my new place to go for my car. JW
