Thousand Oaks, CA
Our new pizza delivery joint for sure.
Used to order from Toppers, but would rather pay more for great East Coast style pizza. We had the Pizza Bianco (with added mushrooms) and a pepperoni for the kids, and a family size Italian Meatless salad. The pizza arrived piping hot and the salad had garlic knots, yum! Google for coupons to mitigate the somewhat higher but worth it pricing. -
Review from Todd O.
I love the North End of Boston and pizza in Boston but this place did not live up to my expectation.
I'll definitely go back and I'll definitely NOT order a slice but a whole pie. Some places can cook a pie and then re-heat with your topping of choice and actually pull it off as "good pizza" not always but its possible. This place could not at leas on my visit. Ordered 1 slice pepperoni and 1 slice mushroom. Pepperoni was good but dry as though it was cooked twice. Mushroom, well I think they forgot to put the mushrooms on and threw them on after pizza was re-heated. They were cold and thick, not cooked and deflated as mushrooms do when they are heated.
Crust is super thin but crusty so to keep the pie together.
To make a short story long, I'll go back and order a whole pie, I won't go back and order a slice. I like how they have Italian dressing on the table. I love being able to dip my pizza. -

Good thin crust non-greasy pizza. Delivery to home is slower than quoted. However, food arrives hot.

Their banner says "Voted #1 Pizza in U.S.A." but I wouldn't even call it #3 on Thousand Oaks blvd.
The grilled veggie pizza says "roasted garlic" but what they mean is "hot clumps of jar garlic." It suffered from severe soggy cracker syndrome, no choice but to use a fork and knife.
Apparently this spot is known for their famous pizza made with no tomato sauce. I recommend trying that; I got the sauce and it was just pointless. -

This place has a pretty good pizza. Their crust is thin and crispy. I like just the cheese or pepperoni pizzas. Nothing too fancy.
I recommend getting extra sauce, though. It's very good here, and the pizza could use more than they normally put on.
The pizza sizes run kind of smaller than you'd expect. If you haven't been there before, I'd recommend upsizing to one bigger than you're normally inclined to ordering. I got a large pizza here that was fairly small I thought. A lot smaller than other large pizzas around. -

Overpriced, no liquor license, and poor execution. Could be a great place if they focus on giving value in the food and on enough service to make you want to come back. Not really the place for a birthday dinner. They have three or four people working, but you have to order at the counter. The manager was quite personable and made you feel comfortable. BUT, little kids are running all over the place and sitting wherever they want, like a hamburger chain. They overcharge you for what you get. The food came out fast. The ingredients meant well, but the execution was lacking when it got to the table. The lettuce in the salad was good, but not much else was put in to it and for $15, that is unacceptable. The garlic knots that came with the salad were too oily to eat. As for the pizza, according to the menu, the water is imported from Italy. The style was supposed to be Neapolitan or Boston style with a crisp, thin crust. And, it would have been good if the crust was not soggy. We weren't offered drink refills and when we asked for a to-go box, the girl brought one and tossed it on the table. I joked that it hit me in the face. I would go back if they if they serve wine and watch what comes out of the kitchen. They need to focus on the people eating IN the restaurant and not the one pizza they delivered the hour we were there.

Awesome pizza, but rather pricey for some dough and cheese... Any time I have some extra cash for good pizza this is where I go.

I would give this NO STARS if possible. DO NOT ORDER FOR DELIVERY. and hour and a half later we cancelled our order after calling to make sure they didn't get lost.... OH WAIT, here he is!! He just showed up. No phone call to let us know he was going to be late/couldn't find our apartment.. No apologies, nothing. Worst Pizza Delivery Service EVER. We were quoted 40 minutes. More like 40 minutes plus 30!! Now that it's time to go to bed I guess I'll start eating my dinner.

I've always been a huge fan of D'Amore's food. Try it for yourself, you'll see it's amazing. Try the Italian Meatless Salad.
But seriously, guys... can you PLEASE make a lunch menu or a combo order or SOMETHING? I just paid $20 for a pasta and salad. You should offer a lunch special pasta/salad combo for $10-$15 because $20 is a complete rip! -

Not sure what all the fuss is about.... We didn't like it at all! The garlic knots were NOT garlicky enough... But plenty buttery or oily enough!
The pesto pizza was just "pine nutty" tasting... Not pesto tasting! And Christina pizza was just plain gross! Weird tasting mushrooms and e en worse salty, rubbery, tough meat of some sort. We do not plan to go back. -

This makes the kids Friday night pizza fix much easier to handle. I'm not sure if they deliver, but just throw the kids in the car and take them here. Their salads are great for parents and kids alike. The pizza is exactly the way it should be - the crust is perfect, not too thin, not soggy or thick and doughy, the sauce is a throw back to NY and for those who like toppings, they have anything you can fathom. It's a win-win in our house!

I prefer a chewy crust to a crispy crust - it's the New Yorker in me - so D'Amore's only gets three stars.
Their secret to a crispy crust? A lot of cornmeal in the crust. For a crispy crust, it's pretty good, and maybe that's as good as it gets out here. I'll have to sample some other pizza spots and revisit D'Amore's.
I do like their tomato sauce - it's nice 'n tomatoey - but I think I'll skip the Caesar salad next time. -

Guess after V-Lounge Pizza in Hawaii, my pizza taste buds will never be the same.
Pizza was a good idea for lunch on a rainy day at the office. We got half sausage & mushroom and half veggie pizza with a chopped salad. I'm a fan of the thin crust, and the veggie toppings were generous. Salad was fresh with that nice crunch you can only get from fresh lettuce. It was the lack of flavor sensation that I long for.
Can't say I j'adore D'Amore. You aight'. -

I should probably mention that I've never had real NY pizza. But Honey and I thought this food was just meh.
We ordered a large margherita pizza that had a different name and came with prosciutto on it. We originally wanted a different pizza (with sauteed wild mushrooms and some other things) but they said they didn't make that one yet. We also ordered garlic knots because they sounded good.
For me, the garlic knots were almost inedible. They were burned on top and they were SO soaked with grease I couldn't eat them. Maybe they sat too long during delivery or maybe that's just the way they make them but I'll never get those again.
The pizza was only ok. I felt like there wasn't enough sauce or flavor. It looked pretty with the basil leaves there but the flavor just wasn't strong enough.
I doubt we'll order from here again. -

I am a D'Amores addict and so is everyone I have brought here over the years. I've been to the Thousand Oaks, Pasadena, Malibu, Westwood, Tarzana and Encino locations (Thousand Oaks the most) and have NEVER been disappointed. The pizza is to die for, they have great crust and toppings. Plus it's healthy, they use fat free cheese, olive oil and even bring the water used in the dough from the East Coast so it's authentic! My fav is the Italian Meatless chopped salad which comes with amazing rolls. And the BBQ chicken pizza which has cilantro. The fresh basil is great as well.

Seriously the BEST pizza ever!!!!! It's perfectly thin but not super hard and too crunchy. There's the layer of cheese with the perfectly golden brown top layer. When you bite into it, the tomato sauce OOOZES out. It's BEAUTIFUL!!!! Other pizza places skimp on the sauce but not D'Amores. The crust is the best crust I've ever come across! I have traveled the globe but haven't had a pizza as awesome as D'Amores!!!
Oh they have a good lunch special too, so it's affordable.
If the owner is reading this....PLEASE open a D'Amores in Sacramento!!!! I'll be a loyal customer, I promise!!! :) -

The pizza was great. Best pizza I have had in TO. I liked their buffalo wings! Service was ehh. They started cleaning the bathrooms with bleach and it smelled BAD. When I complained they were really apologetic and stopped immediately. If not for this they would have gotten a 5 star. I am definitely glad I went and can't wait to go back.

D'A-Your change is $12 dollars.
Me-Why does two slices cost $8
D'A-We live in California.

Tried the pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage - it was not memorable, quite tasteless actually and had to add lots of red pepper and parmesean cheese.
Since I relocated here for work last year, I'm on a mission to try every pizza place in Thousand Oaks. The best I've tried so far is Toppers Pizza. -

I am a pizza snob--as a Chicago transplant, it's kind of required. While D'Amore's is not Chicago-style pizza, it is an outstanding Boston-style pizza. (What's a Boston-style pizza? True Bostonians will object to this oversimplification, but it's a thin-crust fairly similar to a New York pizza.)
I appreciate the classics, so I usually get a pepperoni, but after you've had a traditional pizza or two, try a "Pizza Bianca" or one of their other specialty pizzas.
The one downside is that now that people have started to discover this location, the restaurant seems to have trouble keeping up with the dinner rush. But the pizza is good enough that I can write that off as a temporary problem and give them the full five stars. -

Dang this place is expensive! I felt like splurging today with my calories and decided to have a pizza. The pizza Bianco was $19.00 for a 6 slice pizza. While it had a nice thin crispy crust, it was also weighed down by a ton of different types of cheese....way too much. If you order this I would definitely recommend going lightly on the cheese so you have a chance to taste the spinach and roasted peppers. I'm curious about the other items on the menu so I may return here to give them a second chance.

Perhaps one of the best Pizza places in California, since 1972. Depending on your taste, this place may look like a bit of a "hole in the wall" but the taste totally redeems their lack of cosiness. Family owned business that keeps itself from growing excessively (which is very wise). Definitely try their Pizza Bianco (signature Grilled Vegetable Pizza); you can ask them for extra greens and fresh garlic, and the pizza will look and taste like real Italian stone-oven-made pizza, I swear to God! This tiny restaurant does not have an alcohol license but you can bring your own wine or beer to drink with the pizza, there is no corkage fee.

This review is a 2 sided flip flop of review...
The first will go to the person taking orders and the delivery....
Yes, when I order pizza, I always order from the mom 'n pop pizzeria, because honestly Dominos and the rest of the cookie cutters just don't cut it no more... they offer pizzas with something they call cheese on top, and it just dont taste like pizza no mo. But here is D'amores. The chain of mom 'n pop pizzerias.... It seems when I order pizza, it's always on an obscure night, that my rommies 'n I are just too lazy and wasted to get up for grubbin.... so we call D'amores... well my first gripe is that they haven't always delivered my order properly... once they forgot the Coke we ordered... once they forgot the ever important Italian salad dressing, which really sux because we had no decent dressing at the house and they didn't bring us any after we complained.... but they did offer us a discount on our next order....
Now to the second part of this review.... the delivery and the food itself... so there hasn't been a single instance where we ordered food, and they were remotely on time... and hour means 1 1/2 hours... I mean, for Christ's sake people, you are 2 miles down the road... it's not like you are husking wheat to make the dough, or milking the cows to make the cheese... its a bloody pizza, not gourmet food... the salad preparation can't take that long... So what gives? Why does it take so long to deliver a pie and some greens... well my answer came to me last Friday when the delivery guy was stoned out of his mind delivering our food... so stoned in fact that he started playing with my dog while I was paying him, when thereafter he tripped and fell when he missed a step leaving my house... I think he got a bit excited when he smelled our bit of weed smoke out of our place and lost all control... but brah! It shouldn't take you and your staff to cook a pizza, prepare a salad, and deliver it 2 miles away an hour and a half!
But the wait is worth it.... they make the pizza just the way I like it.... cheesey, tasty, and fresh.... and the salad's great too... I always get the meatless Italian... Just reviewing this is making me hungry... can't wait to order again, and seeing my stoned delivery bud (pun)!Listed in: The BIG List of Smack!, TOP Funniest Yelpings...

Loved their pizza when I had it at a party, but just called in an order for three of their largest pies and they told me the total would be $75. I hung up.

Good pizza but not as good as Winner's down the street. This small joint is located in the same strip mall as Crown and Anchor. Nothing special about the interior. If folks are comparing this to NY style pizza, it's better in New York. And yes, I've had pizza in NY.

I am from New Jersey and really enjoy thin crust pizza. D'Amore's is the best I have found in CA. Reminds me of the pizza that we used to get on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore.

As a Jersey girl, I loved the pizza albeit WAY overpriced. It's pretty authentic stuff and it even looks like an east coast pizzeria.
Here is why I will never return or even let my kids order their school lunch from there. (they cater to my kids private school). The cashier couldn't even pause her telephone conversation to take my order. She did smile and was polite so good for her I guess. They had 2 men busily making pizzas behind the counter. As we sat and waited for our order some punk kid walks in dropping the "f-bomb" continuously. My guess would be that he was one of the owner's teen kids. He continued to tell the two guys who were working how he had just punched off the rear view mirror of someone that pissed him off at a traffic light in Newbury Park. I believe what he said was, I just F***ing punched off the side view mirror on some P***y's car on Borchard Road. What a F***ing A**hole. My kids (ages 9 & 4) were not even 3 feet away from him and he was not being quite. Want to guess what my 4 year old said before she went to bad last night? -

OK people. I'm originally from Chicago so if its one thing I know, its pizza. Although there is nothing even close to Chicago style pizza out here on the West Coast (trust me on this one folks! I order frozen shipped from ChiTown), D'Amore's thin crust is amazing pizza. I read somewhere that its Chicago influenced - maybe I misread, however thats not true as we're known for deep dish. Give this place a try it really is yummy. I had the roasted veg thin crust and its by far the best on this side of the USA. I'm now a fan - always saw it off PCH, however its now in other locations so no excuses. Prices are a bit higher for LA standard, however well well worth it.

hands down, the best pizza I've ever had! thin, crispy crust with the perfect amount of cheese and sauce, my west coast heart is now devoted to east coast pizza because of d'amore's. the staff is extremely friendly, great service and amazing food... what more can you ask?
I've been to both the camarillo and thousand oaks locations, and have never been disappointed. if you love pizza as much as I do, do yourself a favor and grab a slice (or two, or three...) at d'amore's. -

Not quite the best NY style pizza I've ever had, but it is very tasty. Don't know which dubious organization ranked them number #1 in the nation for pizza, but they should try and travel to New York. Great lunch value with salad, two slices, and bottomless soda for less than 10.00. Staff is friendly and young, and service never fails!

Great pizza. A little expensive, but worth it. Buy it there, because delivery times are at least 60 minutes. Any thin crust pizza that sits in a box that long is going to end up soggy.

My pizza was burnt. How hard is it to make a small pepperoni pizza? I heard good things about the place but I was very disappointed. Kinda expensive for what you get too. Service was nothing to rave about either but my order was to go so they had little opportunity to impress me. With all the pizza places around, I am sure you can find a better place.
