The sandwiches are huge here. Different from what you would get in California. You get your soft roll and meat but you also get a marinade of tomatoes and pickles. Still yummy and large. Loved the selectiion of salads and prepared foods.
I grew up in Chesterville and anyone that comes back from being amongst the world of mundane subs has to get that Dags fix. And as everyone has sited in this review, the Italian with extra hots is the best in the world! They mince their vegetables just so, you wont be able to cease thinking about pickles and onions and cappicola the rest of the week.
Growing up with D'agostino's I've found it hard to enjoy any other Italian sub. D'agostino's is the benchmark to which all Italian subs are rated.
Get an Italian with hots and a drink and head over to the Winchester Common across the street.

"D'Agastino's is located in beautiful Winchester Center. They are a traditional small italian deli and store and reminds you of the North End in Boston a bit. They have a good selection of italian cooking products, deli meats and cheeses, sodas and bottled water, and other drinks in the back. Their extensive menu offers many varieties of subs and sandwiches. They also have chips and dessert items including their famous Blondies and brownies. It is conveniently located right off the Winchester Center Train Station in the town center right across from the Town Common and bus route 134."

I only gave this shop one chance and I only got diarrhea once. So, I'm thinking I should at least give it another chance. Hey ,it could have just been all the hot peppers on the sub, you know how those things are sometimes. No, I am not a glutton for punishment.... if I was, I would go to Taco Bell and get some really serious food poisoning like I did on my Birthday 5 years ago and vowed never to go to another Taco Bell ever again in my life. I actually think there are several Taco Bell franchises throughout the 7th level of Hell. God, I hope I don't end up there! What am I saying!? Of course I won't, I am a wonderful person..... so wonderful in fact, I will give D'Agostino's another chance! And if it turns out it is good, then I will come and re-do this review, however if I am charming the porcelain god once again, I'll let you know that too. Oh, there is one thing though..... what's up with those cornmeal encrusted sub rolls? How bout some yummy french bread? And the worst part of those rolls... they are stored on a shelf in a bag, already pre-filled with meat and cheese and if you ask for an Italian they grab one. How long have they been there? When did they do that... better yet why? Ree- fridge - er- ation, people! Learn it, use it, love it! What better way to stave off those intestinal nasties than to actually --- imagine this! --- put your meat and cheese sandwich into a refrigeration unit! Hey, hey now.... maybe, just maybe... this whole lack of refrigeration thing was what sent me to the penalty box for 2 whole periods! To be continued.....
