Did I really eat at the same place as the other reviewers? Maybe.

We were here for a private function in their downstairs party room over the weekend.

      Food:
App: Well, we had shared appetizers of shrimp, sausage/bread/spread in a shot glass and some other item. Wish I knew, as they walked around the tables and offered them, but we only got one pass and they were out. Never saw the tray again. Shrimp? Nothing special. Sausage thingy, all of us at the table did a double take, could not figure out how it worked with the French cuisine theme. Bland sliver sausage slice in a cream cheese type spread.

Soup/Salad: This I guess is what pissed me off the most. They ran out of mushroom soup, didnt tell us and we waited forever. I kept asking for status and finally they brought it out for the three of us at the table and it looked too bright to be mushroom. We asked if that was mushroom soup and they said " No, its ginger "something"". They just swapped soups without asking us if it was ok! What if someone had a food allergy, etc. AWFUL. I ate the soup, which was ok and another person sent back in exchange for a salad.

Main: We had a few choices, including a steak option. I asked the waiter if he knew what cut it was and he said "no idea". I ordered the steak, had some of it and still have no idea. I would guess maybe "butt steak", I knew it wasn't a strip, rib-eye, sirloin, fillet or skirt; so I guess by process of elimination: butt; but I could be wrong.

Service overall was poor, but with a smile.

Also, the HVAC does not work very well in the basement and it was HOT!

My parents used to come here when they were members of the Lyric Opera, but have found another option in the area. My mom recalled that Cyrano's was pretty good, so not sure if there was a change if chefs or the private menus/parties are a f'n mess and the general dining area is good.

There are too many great restaurants in Chicago, for me to come back and test that theory...

If you want to feel transported to Paris, go here!

The ball and I (or is he the chain? :) came here on a warm October Saturday evening hoping for a romantic dinner out and somewhat away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated outside in the adorable outdoor area - it's really well set up and is much quieter than just a few blocks east of it.

The food was EXCELLENT - they started us off with a warm baguette along with an extremely tasty "butter" that had feta, sundried tomatoes and some other goodies. Altogether we tried the mussels, escargot, steak frites, coq au vin, and french lavendar crepes and everything was so delicious that when we were done our waiter asked us, "Did you guys eat today?" (we had, of course, but couldn't resist eating every bite and soaking up the sauces with the bread. yuuuuuuum).

We did wine pairings with each course and they were great, too. All in all: c'est fantastique! :-)

What a fiasco! We can't give zero stars... but I'd say they do earn one star for their food. It's pretty good... but not to die for. There are many other french bistros in the city, so DON'T COME HERE!

As soon as we pulled up and the valet was no where to be found, I had a bad feeling. We arrived at 6:15 for a 6:30 reservation. We were told we would have to wait at the bar. The restaurant was practically empty. We ordered drinks. The bartender was nice, but seemed to be trying to do too much. In addition, I ordered a ginger martini drink that the menu said was garnished with candied ginger. It didn't have much of a ginger taste and was garnished with lime.

By 6:40, I inquired about our table. I was told it would be 10 more minutes and the next round of drinks was on the house. Great... However we were not seated until 7:15! By then, we were annoyed, hungry, and a bit tipsy.

Our waiter handed us Gdine menus, but didn't explain anything. When we asked if we could substitute and pay more for an entree, the answer was no. Fair enough. My sis and I ordered salmon. The guys ordered chicken and steak. Our appetizers were good, not great, but good. The waiter brought our entrees., however, they gave my sister and I a white fish (could have been the bass). We had to call the waiter back to point it out to him. His response... Oh, did you still want the salmon? OMG!

He took our entrees, left the guys to eat... and finish their meals before we were served our salmon. No apology.

Dessert was bland. I ordered the crepes.. They were tasteless, with a banana and whipped cream. The drizzle of Nutella was the best part.

On our way out the owner asked how everything was. I told her. All she did was apologize. By this time we had been at the restaurant for 3 and a half hours. It felt like torture.

We had taken my sister and BIL there for their anniversary. The only saving grace was that we all figured we could laugh about the experience in the future.

I created a Yelp Profile to review this place.

Worst service I have had anywhere. Food is sub-par, but definitely edible.

I went Saturday night with a relatively decent-sized group for my aunt and uncle's 40th anniversary -- my aunt owns a private catering company, so hopes were higher than usual for this place.

It took 3 hours to get our entrees and when mine came out -- I ordered steak and frites, well done -- the plate they put down in front of me wasn't what I ordered. Then, they actually brought the right plate, but it was not well done, and thus, someone else's. Finally, when I got my correct order, it was totally pink and raw. This actually turned out to be my cousin's... He ordered medium well, and he was given my well done. But, by the time mine had come out, he was already half-finished with his order (which was actually mine!).

Beer was warm, it took forever to get anything -- even water -- and at one point, my uncle actually stood up and shouted at the waiter who didn't seem to catch the fact that we had been attempting to get his attention for 10 minutes.

I'll never recommend this place, nor will I go back.

And I didn't even know the place was shut down for roaches. Gross.

Cyrano is dear to my heart from all my French AP lessons on him. However, the restaurant was very disappointing. I found the reviews on it to be very good but our experience was quite the opposite. My bf is a big fan of moules frites and although the broth was quite tasty, a bunch of the mussels were hardly cooked and were slimy and inedible.

The steak was tough and there was too much salt on the salad. The wine we ordered had clearly gone bad and when we brought it to the waiter's attention, they switched it out (with neither an apology or explanation). The wine we got the second time around was much better.

This place isn't nice or convenient or tasty enough for the price tag. Definitely won't be back!

This is a charming little French bistro that currently offers a 4-course prix fixe for $30. There were also a few wines that were $30 by the bottle. I found the wine prices by the glass (starting at $10) a bit on the pricey side.

The staff were cordial and accommodating, even though one of our party was lost and running late. I really liked our server, she was friendly and cute.

The food was all over the place. The French baguettes were wonderful-- toasty and soft and the herbed butter complimented it nicely. The first course of pate was also delicious and rich. They gave HUGE portions and I couldn't finish it (and I eat a lot). One of my friends got an impressive salad with smoked salmon. I only had a bite but with mix of flavors was interesting and flavorful.

For the main course, my friends ordered the skate. The bite I tasted was nice, tender and seasoned well. I ordered the rack of lamb with angel hair pasta. I liked it, but I was still somewhat let down. I was expecting it to taste better.

Third course was a little salad with brie and apples. It was a nice transition and palette cleanser. The dessert was my least favorite. The chocolate mousse on top of the cake was good, but the cake itself was too eggy for me.

I was torn about giving it 4 stars, but I saw some of the other entrees and they looked mouth watering with generous portions. Plus the chef stopped by our table to greet us, and I appreciate personal touches like that.

I got this as a delivery while working late at the office (this was the second time) and both times my food was very good. The chicken is so tender it melts in your mouth. I usually do not like potatoes, but the ones that come with the chicken, as well as the vegetables, are so tasty! (didnt care for the au jus that came with the chicken though, but that was just personal preference, nothing was wrong with it). And the portion was enough for two meals. Also, I don't know what they put in it, but the butter spread for the bread is one of the yummiest things ever! (5 stars for the butter!) Mais oui! Bon appetit!

I went to dinner with my mom and sister at Cyrano's and we had a great time. It's a small, cozy, little French bistro with warm yellows, blues and reds underneath loads of old wine posters with big, cartoonish characters.

My family ordered Rotisserie Chicken--I had the Duck--despite us all discussing the Coq au Vin and Beef Bourgogne at various points. We all enjoyed our food. The ingredients all tasted quite fresh and it all put together quite nicely. The Creme Brulee was quite flavorful, despite a slightly runny custard.

Due to extreme ignorance, I had a little difficulty traversing the all-French wine list. They were quick to offer help with suggestions, but for some reason I didn't take it. Regardless, I lucked out with a nice glass of Pinot Noir and was quite satisfied.

All in all, it was a pretty good experience and was pretty darn authentic. If the food had been a little better, it would have been comparable to the one meal I had in France with a good friend and his family in 2002. It didn't quite reach that height, but it did bring about those memories, and that is pretty good in it's own right.

I live near here but don't eat here often because ... well, I don't know why. Perhaps because it's more authentically French than I'm used to.

Anyway, tonight being a beautiful spring-like day I was walking home from work and noticed that, being a Monday, they weren't so crowded tonight and I popped in to have dinner at their bar. There seemed to be only one waiter, plus the owner, Cyrano himself Chef Durand.

I had a glass of wine while I mulled over the menu, finally deciding on Foie Gras de Canard, Moules Mariniere (which come with pomme frites), and Haricot Verts. Service was a tad slow, especially at first, but once they got me worked into the rotation it was fine. The food was very good. It was a relaxing meal, with a touch of armagnac to wrap things up at the end.

I think I'll try to show up more often - Durand knows his food, and the ambiance is a great way to spend a meal.

My boyfriend and I went to Cyrano's over the summer. Like I said in some previous reviews, he is French so I am always curious to see what he thinks about french restaurants.

I LOVED Cyrano's! It's a small quaint restaurant and has great service. Our server was from France and gave great suggestions on what to try. I had the roast chicken and boyfriend had the beef bourguignon. The chicken was soft and very juicy. My boyfriend thought the it was full of flavor and delicious!

The portions are big and we both had leftovers for the next day. Prices are reasonable ($15/dish) and was well worth the price.

If you're in the river north area, check it out!
