Cypresswood Golf Club
3 reviews for Cypresswood Golf Club
My company had a golf tournament here back in May and it was a great experience. It was my first time playing 18 holes, scramble format, shotgun start, day after my birthday and I was hungover, free food from vendors and to top it all off, I didn't know anything about golf at the time.
We played on the Traditions course and it was designed really well. The placement of trees assured that each hole was its own hole and you wouldn't have to worry about other players yelling out fore! My coworker told me that good golf courses develop/tell a story as you're playing through them and Cypresswood did just that. I remember ending the day on the 18th hole, a wide 500 yard par 5 hole, with a "wow" expression on my face. Since then, I officially picked up golf as a hobby.
i haven't been to any course since then that isolated each hole the way Cypresswood did and looking back, I really enjoyed that design. The free food, drinks and giveaways also made the experience much more enjoyable but even without all of that, the course was still very fun to play on.

I don't golf as much as I know others do, but this is one of the places I go for a quick round, given it's proximity to my home and the reasonable prices. They have 3 courses, one of them being a much higher-end course (and priced to reflect it). The two "regular" courses are lined with trees (yay shade!) and well-kept with plenty of challenges thrown in to make it an interesting round. Don't go after it rains, as it typically doesn't drain very well and you'll find yourself playing in puddles of water. The carts here are aging and you can feel it from the lack of power and brakes.
Their golf pro Francis is a great guy and although I've never taken lessons from him personally, I saw the results of his teachings with a good friend of mine. Definitely a good choice.

I enjoyed this golf course when I was out visiting. I was taken to this play this course by a vendor of mine and so I don't know if it's expensive or not. I do know the the course was kept up pretty nicely. I, uh, how you say, suck at golf (for the most part). However, I did a pretty decent job and didn't embarrass myself like normal. A big thing that was great about this place was that their are trees lining the holes. You don't see the other teams playing in front or in back of you. It feels private. There was one hole that I felt like I was in a Stephen King. There were just a ton of huge dragon flies everywhere. We have a few in CA but definitely not as many as TX. The beer cart girl didn't come around as much as I would have liked, but maybe that's why I did better than normally. Afterwards we went into the club house and had some decent burgers. For having 3 courses to play, the restaurant was kind of chinsey. But I'm not going to dock the course because of the restaurant. I had a great time here and would definitely go back and especially if it was another free round.
