The Cypress Hotel is a lot bigger than other Kimpton hotels that I've been to and it's also conveniently located on two main streets in Cupertino and has free on site parking. Like other Kimpton hotels it's beautifully decorated and the staff are always bending over backwards to please you.
My husband and I reserved a King Deluxe room for a rate of $84/night (AAA rate), which was outrageously low and totally worth it. I was hoping we could have been complementary upgraded to a suite (which we always try to get when we go to a Kimpton, and they always oblige), but there was a wedding going on the weekend we went and all the suites were booked. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our room and would consider coming back here as a cheaper alternative to staying at a Kimpton in San Francisco if we're tight on our budget.

Tiger-striped carpet, leopard-print bathrobes???
Where am I, Silicone valley or Vegas?
Upon first site of the lobby, I was in awe. This place is unique, beautiful and a little edgy. It's different, but in a good way. But when we got to the guest room......wow. I was almost dizzy with all the animal prints and stripes. Whew.....
But, this place really grew on me, fast. This was my first introduction to the world of Kimpton and I am a loyal fan now. There will always be a place in my heart for the Cypress Hotel. It was also my first visit to San Francisco and what a great time my husband and I had there.
To top it all off, Cypress is PET FRIENDLY!! (Not great for non-animal lovers or those with allergies, I'm sure.) Once my rolly-poly Pug sniffed out the place and discovered he was in fact the only living animal in the room (despite the faux-wildlife decor), he kicked back and enjoyed himself. I love being able to bring him along on our vacation. It's just not the same without him there.
I could not detect any evidence of others pets being there. Nor were there any funky odors or fur anywhere.
I don't now if Kimpton still offers their complimentary wine hour at night, but it was great at Cypress. Service was also excellent and accommodating. I hope that I get a chance to stay here again soon. It was a great experience and led me to stay at many other Kimpton hotels thereafter.

My inner Karen Walker loves hotels.
Something about me wishes I could take residency in one. Who wouldn't? A wake-up call for those days where you've had too much to drink and a bar to service you when you are needing that screwdriver in the morning or that martini nightcap.
The lover loves Kimpton Hotels. And I do too. And this made much more of a statement to me than Hotel Nikko, although I love the Nikko's Japanese oriented designs.
I loved the hotel because it had funky touches. The lobby has life with what is in a traditional fireplace that looked built for Hugh Hefner. Funky touches, lie everywhere and that includes spots of leopard skin. This hotel is like if the Hard Rock hotel and Marriott had sex and had a baby.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay all the way down to the Aveda products (Rosemary Mint shampoo is a great way to wake up in the morning) and the leopard skin print robes (which sadly cost $120). The shiteous thing is that it is Cupertino (really?) - but really this is a great example of what a boutique hotel should be like.
+2 points for the Cypress.... +1023910239 points for the lover...
My inner Karen Walker loved the hotel, but my inner Pretty Woman walked out of this hotel like a straight hooker. You better believe it.

Another 5 star experience for sure. I'm not sure what they do to those beds to make them so magical.
The goldfish in the room was a huge bonus for the boy. Those little extra touches go a long way for sure.

Beautiful hotel :D
a friend recently had their wedding reception here and it was a great location in the heart of silicon valley. the lobby is gorgeous. And they also had dinner at the hotel. gorgeous dining area.
and it's pet friendly so awesome if you want to bring your doggie to stay with ya. they also have a shuttle to bring you to santana row (according to website).
hmm. wonder what it's like to work in the hotel industry.

I do love Kimpton Hotels. . . .love them! I don't think I have ever been to
Kimpton and not loved it!
We were supposed to have our datre night in San Francisco at the Serrano - a Kimpton - and we had to change our plans, too many graduations, the huzbeau had to work - I was busy running around with family having fun . . . on and on . . .
We had to cancel and and the res agent said they had a hotel down south - the Cypress - It was great! such a nice surprised and it was such a good deal! had I known what was gonna happen over the weekend I would have booked 2 noights not just the one.
We had a great time - I just LOVE the kinda kooky trendy flair the hotel had. Leopard pattern robes? Really? works for me! it was great.
A plus, we are members of Kimptons In Touch program so we got free high speed Wifi! Sweet! Free wine and appetizer hour? Sweeter! Half price drinks and $5 appies in the bar for Happy Hour I am moving in!!!!
Such nice people and such a good time with my love, and it was a great great experience!

If my husband were writing this, he'd probably give the hotel zero stars if possible. The hotel itself is beautiful and luxurious, it's our experience that wasn't.
THE GOOD:
Like I said before, the hotel is beautiful. Nicely appointed rooms, comfortable beds, complimentary internet, complimentary happy hour...nice amenities, nice (Aveda) bath products, etc. etc.
THE BAD:
We were on the 9th floor, along with about 20-30 young PARTIERS. I think they were staying there for a wedding, but that does not excuse their reckless and disrespectful behavior. On Friday night we had to call security numerous times. After the security guard came up to tell the group to be quiet, they gave him beer and he left. Not five minutes later they were doing the same thing. PARTYING IN THE HALL...immediately outside our hotel room door.
There were at least 20 people coming in and out of the room across the hall from us (room 921) going back and forth to another room down the hall (917). They were talking loud, slamming the door, drinking and yelling in the hallway. We called the front desk again and they said they were going to escort the group out of the hotel. The group finally left, but I believe it was to party at a bar because that is what they were so loudly discussing outside our front door at midnight. Anyhow, after they left, we finally fell asleep. We were under the impression that the hotel had kicked the group out and they wouldn't be allowed back because of their disruptive behavior...we were wrong.
THE UGLY:
We were in town for the No Doubt concert at Shoreline, and the concert was awesome. We got back to the hotel around 11:30 or midnight and there was nowhere to park. We almost got hit in the parking garage and when we finally were able to get back to the front of the hotel, we were told the lot was full (um, hello, you could have saved us the annoyance of finding that out for ourselves and nearly getting sideswiped by putting out a sign). They did offer us complimentary valet service, so we gladly accepted, and at that point things were smoothed over with us enough that we were still happy to stay there.
Things changed drastically around 2am, when we realized the douche-bags across the hall had NOT been kicked out, and they were up to partying in the hall yet again. They were even louder then the night before!
One of the guys from the group STRIPPED DOWN NAKED and was walking around through the hall. His friends, of course, thought this was hilarious, and one of them started laughing like a hyena who'd sucked down a helium balloon "he he who who ha ha ha!" He was SO LOUD. And his obnoxious laugh echoed throughout the hall. We called security and someone came up and casually told the group to be quiet.
Not five minutes later and they were making all kinds of noise in the hallway again. I called the front desk and demanded to be moved to another room. We threw all of our belongings into our suitcases and anxiously awaited our new room keys. I had to convince my husband not to leave right then. Our new room was a handicapped accessible room, I'm guessing because it was all they had available. In any case, we were still pretty fired up about the situation and it took a long time to finally fall back asleep. My husband wasn't able to sleep at all. He's currently napping on the couch.
I had SO been looking forward to staying at this hotel, as it looked so nice in the pictures, and we really needed a nice relaxing weekend away. Unfortunately, this hotel seems like an awesome place to party (IN THE HALLWAYS!) and a terrible place to sleep.
The hotel did comp us for last night, and discounted our rate for Friday night, but we would have rather paid the full room rate and gotten sleep, relaxed, and not had to deal with these issues.
If I were the manager, I'd seriously reprimand (or fire) the security guard and stop tolerating this sort of behavior in my hotel. It's trashing their image as a luxurious, relaxing place to stay. Also, we have family in the area and we like to attend concerts nearby (we live about 3 hours away), so, had we had a nice stay we likely would have been back. I also stayed at another Kimpton hotel (The Hotel Vintage Park) in Seattle last week and it was lovely, so I was expecting a similar experience at the Cypress Hotel, since it is also a Kimpton hotel.
Overall, I'm severely disappointed in the way the staff handled the issues and I unfortunately can't recommend this beautiful hotel because of our terrible experience.

My wife and I got married at Thomas Fogarty, and the Cypress was one of the hotels suggested by the venue. We were able to reserve 40 rooms for wedding guests. The price: $79 per night for a King, and $89 for two queens. THIS IS IN CUPERTINO! The bar is good, with good food - it's still a hotel bar/restaurant. The staff was very accomodating, and was sure to make our weekend easy. Our bridal suite was free for two nights, and was very nice for the price. We hosted our rehearsal dinner and a 'next day' brunch, both of which were staffed well. The food was good, but nothing to write home about.
This is a great hotel if you are getting married at Thomas Fogarty, or if you work for Apple or have a dog : )
This hotel is literally in the same campus as my company's corporate headquarters. I don't enjoy traveling for work unless it's going to be somewhere nice and exotic and NO silicon valley geeks are not considered exotic. The only plus is I get to stay in the Cypress when I'm in Silicon Valley.
The hotel is well appointed, decor is tasteful, my suite had 2 flat screens, I could lay in the tub and watch the TV in my room, perfect angle. Free Wifi is convenient (although this is Silicon Valley, Wifi is like air here).
Seriously my only complaint about this place is that they rely on the restaurant for their room service food. after 9:30PM, the only food to order is a freakin sandwich.
I still like the Cypress for it's proximity to the office and for being reasonable enough for my company to pay for my suite.

It's decent for a smaller hotel. It's basically a boutique-like experience with the added generic feel of a major brand hotel.
I came here for a friend's graduation party, the bar is very well situated in the heart of Cupertino, we got the happy hour fare menu all night long, it's chic, cool, and my friend ordered a "amaretto sour" $7 that was a bit sweet but still very good.... the fried calamari is awesome so they ran out quickly...
I had the warm chocolate center cake with maple pecan ice cream, excellent presentation for the $7 hefty dessert price.
Will drop by again in the future, great place for dates! ;)
Ladies, if you want a little weekend getaway, this is the place. As I am writing this, I am drinking my 2nd glass of wine which I took upstairs to my room from the wine tasting in the lobby by the fireplace; in their tiger robe, in my Uggs while using their free Wi-Fi in the room.
I wish my bedroom looks like our room at Cypress Hotel but boyfriend will not agree to wake up to polka dots wallpaper every morning. It is a trendy girl's dream bedroom, the ultimate girl's sanctuary.
This is perfect for my birthday weekend until boyfriend meets me here where he is working overtime somewhere in the area. We booked this room to celebrate after he gets off work. In the meantime, I was having so much fun solo. I went to the wine tasting, read a book by the fireplace in the gorgeous lobby while sipping my wine. I went back upstairs and took a nice long hot bath and wrapped myself in the complimentary tiger robe. And here I am now, writing this review while feeling very, very relaxed.
Date: February 21, 2009 at 4:30 PM
Occasion: My Birthday Weekend Celebration with Boyfriend who did not get into the hotel until 9:15 PM
Decor/Ambiance: Zafari meets classy. Leopard/tiger prints. Whimsical. Z-Gallery trendy. Quiet and relaxing.
Lobby: Gorgeous and Contemporary. Free wine-tasting from 5:00PM to 6:00 PM. Cozy and comfy lounge chairs by the big fireplace. Courtyard with a nice fountain in the middle and teak garden set.
Room: If you are a girl, not to sound sexist, you will probably like this more than your boyfriend. It's the ultimate Girl Sanctuary. Polka dots on the wall. Huge round mirror as the focal point. Really comfy bed. Feather/down pillows and comforter. Contemporary lamps that elude soft lighting all over the the room. Free Wi-Fi. Flatscreen TV. CD player . Safe. Comfy chaise. Faux fur throw. L' Occitane toiletries. LEOPARD PRINT BATHROBE. What else can a girl ask for????
Complimentary wine: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Red, White Zin by the fireplace in the tastefully decorated hotel lobby. Private and quiet enough to read a book.
Parking: Free easy parking at the garage or $15 overnight parking.
Music: Jazz (103.7 FM) Love it!!!!!
Overall: This has been one of the very relaxing hotel stays that I've had. The room did not look like your typical hotel room but your trendy BBF's house. We had a good night's rest. The place was quiet and peaceful.
Boyfriend's Perspective: Boyfriend did not get the decor and the polka dots on the wall. He was not raving like me. I guess it's a girl thing? But he said he liked the place.
Recommend:
1. Bring some nice bath salts/bubble bath for a nice warm bath. Good thing I bought mine which was a bday present from my gf last night.
2. Bring some nice CD's to soothe your mood.
3. Bring your own hairdryer since theirs was weak.
Warning: The bathroom has no lock. What's up with that?!!! A girl needs her ultimate privacy.
Total: AAA discount. $92. 40 which included tax, service charge and free continental breakfast for two which we did not use.

Haven't stayed here but have gone to the bar for Happy Hour many many times since it's across the street from my work. I've heard this is a nice hotel, by the look of things, they've been upgrading the beds and TVs. We see them as we walk through their garage to Le Boulanger or Tartini.
The bartenders are nice and they have a great outside patio area for summer happy hour and a decently sized indoor bar area for the winter. I've been here for bon voyages, birthdays, global conference dinners, and quick team drinks.
I've also attended a few seminars here including one for the GMAT and it's up to par with what you'd expect from your average upscale hotel. Parking is a little scarce even in the structure and entry into their lobby is a little cramped due to the drive thru area being between several buildings including Armadillo Willy's.
Went last night and got to know my new VP over a few beers and talking about Bay 2 Breakers and the Muddy Buddy Run. How can you not like that?

The Cypress Hotel is my home away from home when traveling to Silicon Valley. I am so glad my corporate travel agent includes this hotel as a choice. Our rate is comparable to Hilton Gardien Inn and Courtyard, making the Cypress a no-brainer.
The lobby is warm and inviting, and includes a well equipped business center and fitness room.
The rooms are spacious and well appointed. I never get tired of the Leopard motif, although I feel a bit strange wearing the matching bathrobe. All the rooms now have 42" flat panel TV's plus stereo. I also love the little things, like the "Please Go Away" door tags.
As long as this gem remains on our approved list, I will remain a fan!
So I had my wedding reception here over the weekend.
Pros:
- beautiful ballroom
- the staff sets up well, you don't need to micromanage them. I was especially impressed at how they turned a bouquet of flowers into cake decor w/o me asking.
- guests raved about the hotel rooms
- food is decent for a wedding and the service during dinner from the waiters and bartenders was very good, I feel like they managed my budget well.
- pricing is fair, if you want a nicer place for a wedding. there is a mandatory service charge.
Cons:
- high turnover of wedding coordinators over 8 months = lots of lost requests, miscommunications, after a while i just gave up.
- ditto with the sales coordinator in charge of my room block, she left.
- food we were served at the tasting was different from what we got at the reception. the shortribs were actually better at the reception, the sea bass though was drier and had random veggies instead of fresh bell peppers.
- i met the guest minimum for an extra hotel room. where is it??
- Yes, I realize it's a business, but none of my other vendors displayed the same desperation and general disorganization. They wanted my money plus full service charge regardless of my concerns or quality of service rendered. Luckily I'm not that picky of a bride...
I would not recommend this place for weddings, although I would recommend it as a hotel if you happen to be in Cupertino.
A friend stayed here while attending Stanford Law's admitted students weekend. Great place! The room was decorated in a way I wish I could do, with dots and animal prints in the same palette. Aveda products. Nice TV. Robe to wear. Even pyjamas in the closet (where those to be bought or could you wear and leave to be laundered?)
The only drawback--noise from other room. Part of a wedding party was staying in the adjoining room and I could hear the girls talking and laughing until late.
I wanted to spend a weekend away from home for my birthday so for a couple of days, we stayed at the Cypress hotel. Our room was bright, spacious, comfortable and had a bowl with a goldfish in it.
Me = Happy Camper. Will be returning.
Love this hotel.
Nice rooms, great service, and reasonably priced.
If you travel with pets, Kimpton hotels are the only way to go.
I got married at the Cypress in Nov 08, and could not have asked for a better experience!! We arrived on Friday, and partied til Sunday morning, and everything was perfect. It was a great location for out of town guests, and in towners alike. And our dog was treated like a little celebrity!
All the planning was painless and fun, thanks to Libby and her crew. She understood what we wanted, and made sure we were happy. It rained on our wedding day, and Libby had a plan B ready to go, which we loved even more than the original idea. It was beautiful.
Even if you aren't throwing the party of a lifetime, it's a great place to sit and have a drink or a meal. And the wine hour at 5? That's what I'm talking about!
Friendly staff. Rooms are very chic. Loved the complimentary wine & appetizers.
I just wish I could be as positive about the hotel restaurant: Park Place. The service was just not good. Waitress seemed flustered, did not ever refill our water, took an eternity to bring out any of the courses, & when she did, there was always someone at our table that was missing theirs! Too bad cause this place has potential with the right staff in place...
After the Big Day, the newly minted Mrs. Zakk and I stayed here for the evening.
First tip: leave plenty of time for parking! The area is a freaking maze and the parking structure is a mess!
The check-in staff was decent, but seemed to take their sweet time.
The room was fantastic! Great big bed, a fantastic lounging couch that a blast to play on *wink*
The bathrooms were spacious and the view from the 8th floor was nice.
Overall a great place to stay on a http://priceline.com deal.

The front desk people are phenomenal!
The rooms are cool. Everything is very clean. They offer L'Occitane products in the hotel room bathrooms, there is a fitness center, and a Happy Hour in the lobby. At different times of the day, the front desk offers apples, cookies, etc for guests.
Their rates are reasonable, and they have a AAA discount.

My husband & I share our anniversary with my girlfriend & her husband. We decided to go out of town and chose the Cypress. We booked the "Romance Package."
We checked into our rooms and were pleasently surprised to enter a well appointed room with rose petals scattered on the bed and floor. There was a bottle of champagne chilling, Norah Jones in the background & a couple of truffles.
After checking out our room and relaxing for a bit, us girls hit the fitness center and took a walk around. Later we were joined by the fella's and we took pictures by the fountain and had a wonderful dinner (included) in the restaurant. The only drawback was a musty man sitting at the table next to us. I know the hotel/restaurant had no control over the situation, but man, who goes out stinky like that? Sheesh!
Anyway, it was a great deal, and we all enjoyed ourselves.
The Kimpton Hotel group has it going on! Join their membership club and you get perks. Always check out their specials and remember this is a corporate hotel, so they give good discounts on the weekends. Close enough to downtown so you can spend the night after a concert or show, or a day in Santa Cruz!

This hotel was a dream come true wedding venue. After the visit to Los Gatos Lodge I was ready to throw in the towel and say lets just go to the courthouse and get married.
We met with an absolute sweatheart of an event planner (Harmony), who sadly left shortly after our contract was worked out. She really went out of her way to work with our cost limitations and suggest the best options, and even provide price breaks. We ended up choosing a Sunday wedding, because it was best for cost and also gave us a lot of flexibility on time.
The hotel is beautiful, just look at the pictures. The food was absolutely great - all our guests commented.
Rosalyn and Leah helped us with the final details and on the day of the event. There were a few glitches here and there, but we had a great wedding.
Lastly, the suite was nice, even if it was all leopard all the time. The bathrobe looked hillarious on my very tall new husband.

This hotel has so much character!
I stayed in a Deluxe King Room and my eyes widened up in awe as soon as I stepped in.. @_@
I didn't book the hotel and had no idea what I was getting myself into.
The walls were printed polka-dots and the carpeting was of some animal print.
There was a furry blanket on the edge of the bed and also animal print bath robes.
There was even a fish bowl...with a fish in it! soOoo cute!
Also a doggie bowl for a dog I didn't have...I really wanted a dog that day...
I have to admit the layout of my room wasn't all that well thought out.
There is a hallway between the door to the bed directly.
When lying in bed, you can hear everyone who passes by your door.
I think the hallway carries over all the noise, which was quite annoying..
So besides that it was such a nice stay...I wanted to spend more time in the room but I was only visitng for the weekend,so I didn't have the time.
The extras I loved!
-Extra long bed for the extra tall girl!
-L'Occitane soaps!!!!
-Free wine tasing...which is basically all you can drink in the cute lobby.
-I believe there is a walkpath so you can walk your dogs.
-Parking is very close and attached to the hotel, but the structure is a bit awkward.
Such a nice luxury eco-pet friendly boutique hotel.^_^
WHOO HOO!!!
-L'Occitane products!!!
-Friendly staff
-Attached parking garage
-Spacious rooms
-Cordless phones
BOO!!!
-Beds were not comfy @ all.
Uh, the 'sexy' and 'wild' animal print motif all over the hotel was pretty tacky-think LEOPARD print robes, camisoles & boxers. WTF?!?!
We are from San Francisco, and stayed a the Cypress for a wedding on Oct 4, 2008. We paid $120 for a Saturday night, including tax! It was nearly as good as the Omni in San Francisco, which would have cost at least 3 times as much.
The room was modern, clean, quiet, comfortable, with an excellent sound system, large flat screen TV. You have to ask for the coffee maker, but they bring it right up, and will bring fresh Half and Half if you ask for it.
We would surely stay again.
We stayed 2 nights here for our anniversary. The room -- an executive suite -- was nice enough, and offered a separate work area with desk and computer hookups between the sitting area and the front door -- a convenient layout if you'll be travelling for business. The bed was comfortable, and the Aveda amenities were good, as always at Kimpton properties. The room had 4 big windows offering a pleasant view from our top floor corner location, and plenty of natural light.
We noticed a list of specialty pillows in the info binder, so we called down and asked for them to bring up two special pillows: a thermapeutic one and a knee pillow. We waited for a while, and no pillows came. When we got back from dinner, there were two new pillows on the bed, but they were just the same plain pillows as we already had. Not exactly a huge problem, but a pretty good indication that someone's not paying attention.
On our first night, the people across the hall were having a bachelor party, screaming and yelling and slamming doors all night. We called the front desk -- twice -- and asked for something to be done. As far as I can tell, they never sent security to the room, even though the second time I specifically asked that they go to the room, not just call.
The next day, the maid didn't make up our room when we left for breakfast and errands. We came back to the room at 2:30 to relax, and found the room just as we left it. Of course, 5 minutes later she came and wanted to clean the room -- so we had to leave again and come up with something else to do.
The second night, we went to sleep at around 10pm, and were awakened at 11:30 by more screaming and slamming doors. I called the front desk again, and said "this has to stop." The person who answered the phone obviously knew there had been a problem before: "Oh, this happened last night, too, didn't it?" Mmm, yes, and you neglected to fix the problem then....
The next morning when we checked out, I expected at least an apology. No mention was made of the problems we had getting a decent night's sleep, two nights in a row. When, at the very end of the transaction, the desk clerk asked us if everything was OK during our stay, I said: "Well, the room was lovely, but I really wish the manager could have done something more about the wild party across the hall -- on both nights." He gave me a funny look and muttered "Sorry." (Oh, thanks.)

First of all, I'm kicking myself for not reading Yelper, Anita C's comments about her night at this place with no sleep!!!
Lets start with the good:
1. Beautiful, clean rooms and lobby with interesting decor.
2. 89 bucks for a Sat night.
3. Free wine in lobby from 5-7pm and free starbucks from 7-9am.
4. Free wireless in the rooms.
5. Free parking in a nice secure garage.
Now the bad, the really bad not going there ever again bad:
1. The pool is shared with a condo complex nearby, so you have to take a hotel van to get there. What is this, summer camp?
2. No coffee maker, no ice bucket plastic bag.
3. And now the ultimate bad....DRUM ROLL PLEASE...You will think I'm kidding...I did not sleep that night as I was smack dab in the middle of an entire floor or drunk partying teenagers in prom dresses! Door slamming, screaming, wild teenage monkey sex next door...This went on from midnight until 5 in the morning!! I called security twice and nothing! I should have called the cops!!!
I told the front desk about it in the morning, and they comped us 2 breakfast brunch buffets ($45 total) which helped but still, I feel ill thinking about ever going back there again.
If you decide to go here, make sure its not during prom season!!!
Update 5/10/07
The hotel manager emailed me to apologize and offered me a free weekend night at the hotel. That was pretty cool.

Strategically priced wisely. Great location, nice rooms, smooth transaction, great service
i'd have to say, this hotel is pretty hip. from the decor in the lobby all the way to the decor in the room. the colors and theme are well matched and easy to the eyes. i had an opportunity to stay in one of the rooms during it's first year of opening.
i love the waiting area in the front. there were canopy sofas with chairs and tables for people to either lounge or wait for whatever. i'm not sure if they still have that anymore, but it sure was nice.
aside from that, i don't remember much else, because i was there only to party with some friends. though i still love the animal prints they have.

Very nice hotel with attractive decor, and well appointed rooms. The staff were friendly enough.
After we checked in late in the day (I had requested late checkin, quiet room on upper floor, and a crib) I asked if the crib was already in place as my son was sound asleep. They had someone check and he radioed back saying no.
We went up to the room and waited around 10 minutes. A soft knock at the door, and a grinning staff member holding a bowl with a live fish. No, I'm not making this up. We explained that we asked for a CRIB (pointing to the small child now stirring) and he left.
10 minutes later I called down and said "hi, any ETA on that crib we requested?" The guy sounded surprised and said "isn't it there yet?" I said "no, but someone tried bringing us a live fish." Another 5 minutes and we had our crib, but I'm wondering if the spanish word for "crib" sounds like the spanish word for "fish in a bowl". And what hotel provides a live fish upon request (in 10 mins no less!)?
Anyway, two minor disappointments were learning that the pool was not on site, and that despite what the registration promised, there is no delivery of the NY Times on weekends. In fact, they had no papers available at all.
We didn't try the hotel restaurant but it looked nice. The outdoor area is pretty with a couple of fountains, and there is a Le Boulanger around the corner, and a Starbucks across the road.
Pet owners note - this hotel is pet friendly (maybe that explains the fish!), and there's also a Petsmart across the street.

We hosted my grandpa's recent 90th Birthday Party here at The Cypress Hotel - randomly by default. Our previous party site had a fire ... Can you believe it?... Oh well, in the end it all worked out for the best.
The room was perfect for our 50 person party. The event management team at The Cypress were extremely accommodating with all of our requests -- if you can imagine, all invites were already sent out and responses already sent back *with* meal selections from our previous location (pre-fire disaster). We needed to find comparable meal selections, try to stay close to original budget, etc. They were fabulous!
When we arrived (with the flowers, cake, etc.) the night of the party this past weekend they were just finishing setting up the bar and putting all the final touches on the room. The bartender and wait staff were extremely pleasant and very nice. I will say, and this probably contributed to the extreme professionalism and attention to detail, but the staff was older than I'm use to - I say this after the plethora of weddings I've attended, been in & worked - back in the old days, I worked at a Country Club... Whatever - not important unless eye candy is a good thing. And for me it is, but considering it was my gramps Bday party - I'm sure they were all pleased with their eye candy... :)
The appetizers were FABULOUS!! If anyone hosts a party here, a must order is the lamb chop appetizer. DELICIOUS! The bruschetta was delish with a new twist of goat cheese added, bacon wrapped prawns (ummmm yah LOOOOOOOOOOOVE bacon)... One negative thing regarding the food - the steaks were overcooked - at best, they were Medium and the chicken was not as moist as could be. The salmon was perfection - so hey, 1 out of 3?
All in all, a fabulous night, plenty of booze -- man can those boyz party ... Now I know why my gramps stays so young - get these guys out on the golf course or a party room and they're in their element!

I've stayed at The Cypress Hotel four times now - and I look forward to staying there!
The first time I walked into my room, I laughed. I was not sure if the decor was supposed to have a Mediterranean feel or if was supposed to be tacky! I settled on the former -rather than the latter.
The carpet in the room was tiger print, there were jaguar print throw pillows on the bed, and leopard print robes hanging in the closet. The color scheme for the rooms are dark golds, maroons, and green, Everything feels and smells very fresh and clean.
During my first stay, I was really tired after a 6 hour flight, plus the trip over to the San Jose International Airport Hertz counter to pick up a rental car. After getting to my hotel room, I immediately took a shower to freshen up. They had this amazing mint shampoo that really perked me up! I've tried to find this shampoo on my own - but have yet to find it!
The rooms are very comfortable. The beds were reasonably stiff and supportive - not all mushy. The broadband internet access was very fast, and my TV had a built in DVD player.
The hotel hosts a wine reception each evening - which was a nice touch.
I would recommend the Cypress to anyone!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Cypress for around 20 days over the course of a month, last fall, and I must say, it was a pleasure. The front-desk staff all knew my name by the third day, and though I was staying for longer than normal, they never stopped asking what they could do for me, or how they could make anything better.
The customer service was excellent (as it is with most, if not all Kimpton Hotels), but the rooms were excellent as well. Funky and interesting, but upscale decor, and all the amenities you could need for a stay in Cupertino. Though the location isn't the best for nightlife, that isn't their fault, and it happened to be perfect for my needs.
Tip: Because this tends to be a "business hotel" the prices are inflated during the week by almost 100%. Fri-Sun, the medium level rooms are often under $100 dollars a night. And don't forget to flash your AAA card.
Hopefully I won't need to go to or stay in Cupertino ever again, but if I do, I will be checking back into the Cypress. It makes you forget where you are.
What a surprise! The website made it seem like a smaller boutique hotel, but its really sort of large. It was a pleasent suprise though, we had a great visit. Kimpton hotels do it right. Free parking, free wine hour from 5-6 every evening, ice cream in the afternoon and a really great vibe. It was tastefully decorated and super clean. I dont have ANY complaints at all. Will definitely stay here again.
Still a great dog friendly hotel....nothing to complain about and my doggie loves it here :)

This was my favorite doggie friendly hotel we stayed at in the last few hotels I have been to with… Read more »
Wow, the other reviewers who report a lot of noise and commotion really surprise me. I stay here about 6 or 7 times a year, for business, and find the hotel to be very quiet. So quiet, that I think they secretly pump sleeping gas into the hallways and rooms at 10PM every night. Perhaps the difference is that I'm never there on weekends.
The bar is pretty good, but it's mostly nerds from HP, Symantec and Apple, so its not exactly an exciting place. The bartenders are nice and the drinks are strong. Don't expect more than about 10 people at the bar at any given time.
The wine service in the afternoon stops so early that business guests rarely get to partake. This is Silicon Valley, everybody works until at least 6PM.
A great place to stay with your dog. Lots of grassy areas nearby, and they're very pet friendly.
Plenty of stores within walking distance (Target, for example) and some good restaurants nearby. The food at the hotel isn't bad at all, either.
No HBO, but the in-room porn selection is extensive and comprehensive.

After staying at another Kimpton Hotel in Oregon, I was impressed with the consistency of this hotel's amenities which are similar to Hilton, Hyatt or Marriot, but with little signature flair of the animal print robes. The dcor inside is different from the rest of the chain hotels, in the sense of their modern vintage style that gives that casual chic vibe.
At this hotel there is AM coffee/tea, evening drinks as well that are complimentary. Free WiFi (which is good since other places would charge for this) & the fact there is FREE self parking, wow, since I'm so used to the paying for self parking at nice hotels. The only thing awkward was that you will have to go to front desk to ask for the location of the pool. The location for this place, even though it's 20 mins from San Jose airport, but it's within walking distance to restaurants, coffee/cafe shops, 10 mins from Santana Row.
I was so impressed with this chain Kimpton Hotel, that I actually signed up for their membership. Will be looking forward to staying here again if I fly into San Jose airport.

awesome hotel dudes! it smells really really good! like everywhere!
they're right next to apple so they've got these awesome mac stations set up in a room free for use by all. don't know how to use a mac? well, i suppose you could hop over to apple headquarters and beg for a lesson or just admit to being a dumb person and go stay at a hilton or something.
they have apples at the front desk in the mornings and chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon, shuttles that run to and from the san jose airport every hour, on the hour. if you miss one of their shuttles you can take a cab and they'll reimburse you for it. the staff there is sooooo nice and are all relatively attractive. attractive people rock. ugly people suck.
there's a gym with all the cardio machines and some machines and a full set of free weights. most hotels i've stayed at cheap it down but they've actually got 3 treadmills with personal tv sets and headphones, towels, bottled waters, yoga mats and balance balls.
the funnest part has got to be the animal print robes they leave in your room! i hung out in a leopard print robe all day. pimp.
