Thank you Colleen for taking me on short notice, my friend Jack said "I'll call her for you" and she fit me in as a favor, thank you so much!!!
I love my cute new shorty and swingy haircut, she knew EXACTLY what to do with my old long as tangled up curly mess. Although she did get a little crazy with the flat iron and straightened my hair just for fun, it was a really really great haircut, I will be back next time I'm in town, for sure.
love ya! bk

Twenty minutes before my appointment, someone at Cutz called to tell me that although my appointment had been confirmed, no one knew where the stylist was. They ended up bringing in another stylist, since I couldn't find time in my schedule to change my appointment.
The stylist that worked with me did an okay job on my hair, if somewhat too generous with the various sprays and products. Note that I said "okay;" I don't dislike my hair cut, but I don't feel that it was worth the amount I paid. Furthermore, we discussed ideas for my style, and he used all of his own suggestions, none of mine.
I'm gonna give it at least a week to settle in, but I may find myself having to go somewhere else just to get my bangs done as I wanted today.
EDIT: The owner offered to re-do my hair, but our schedules didn't seem to mesh; after taking up her offer, I didn't hear back for almost a week, and had my hair trimmed elsewhere. That said, I don't believe 3 stars is a "bad review," and I stand by my original score.
Cutz is a great salon! It's cozy and comfortable and Colleen is one of the best stylists in Seattle. She also cuts a lot of my friends hair and they look gorgeous! She is a great person and I think it's terrific how much she has done for the Wallingford Art Walk. All of her employees are very talented also, so if you you need a cut or a color I suggest you try out Cutz.

Huzbeau has a thing about going to new hair cutters.
I do not know what the issue is exactly, but I do know that his hair is getting long and it is not becoming.
I FINALLY "talked him into" making an appointment at Cutz.
For 10 am today, with Gail.
"Talked him into" is, of course, code for I nagged the poor man for days and days until he could no longer take it but in order to save face made an appointment at this particular haircutting establishment due to the lure of TROPHY CUPCAKES across the street. Not only could he savour delicious cupcakes, but he would conveniently have something to shove into my pie hole and get me to STFU already!!
WeLL...
...Apparenlty Gail got lucky last nite cuz she did not show up for her
10am appointment with my hirsute huzbeau (hirsute means hairy for all you non-college degree holders out there).
He waited till 10:15 and then called and left a message...
...not the kind of message I would have left, no doubt: He expressed his disappontment and irritation like a gentleman.
Opposites attract, yo.
Maybe Gail didn;t get lucky - maybe she's sad and lonely and just couldn't take it anymore and decided to off herself and her cat in her house that is about to go into foreclosure...or something.
All's I know is I gotta spend another day or five looking at my shaggy boy...
Check one:

Huz received a call later that day acknowleding a mix up of some sort and wondering if he;d like to come in for a $10 off hair cut...
um, that would be a NO.
The next day the mortified owner, Colleen (who had taken her first day off since opening a few months ago) called and said SO So sorry - please come in and I will cut your hairs for free.
BINGO!!
He liked her, he has a second appointment in a few weeks, I can once again see his eyes gazing at me adoringly and all is well with the world.
P.S. I know there are some of you looking for employment - sounds like they could use some help.

Best haircut I've had in Wallingford.
It's a little hard to find from the street because of the lack of a seeable sign, but if you start peering in windows you're bound to find it a couple addresses south of the corner.
I received a fine haircut where there was a good attention to detail. Not like the usual gouge at things with a clipper and clean up a bit until I look satisfied. It was a nice change of pace.

I used to go to Lucky 7 in Wallingford, not just because they gave good cuts, but because it was only a couple blocks from my house. Because while I enjoy a good haircut, I'm also lazy.
But now I've found CUTZ / wallingford, and it's just on the other side of the block from my house. Any closer, and I'd be getting a haircut in my kitchen.
And the cuts at CUTZ? Quite good. In fact, I'd happily recommend getting a shampoo and cut from stylist Alexa, and not just because I get a free cut for every five people I refer to her. She's just that good.
(Seriously, though, if you go and ask for her, just mention you were referred by Wes. W-E-S. She'll know who you mean. Kthxbye!)

I recently moved to Wallingford and was searching for a good place to get a haircut that wasn't super expensive and that also wouldn't leave me with bald patches. While Cutz isn't the cheapest, they do a great job and it feels a bit like you're at a friend/family members house.
Colleen has cut my hair every time I've been in and she kicks ass. Always accommodating and willing to squeeze me in when there's a sliver of time.
I've been to Lucky 7 once before and the chic that cut my hair was more interested in the seahawks game on TV than the haircut, which, I can't really blame her for but the haircut sucked so i went to Cutz and haven't looked back.
I happened to walk by Cutz one day and decided to make an appointment. The lady who made my appointment was upbeat and friendly. Colleen was the person who cut my hair, and really, I couldn't be happier. For the first time, after years of trying to get my ideal cut, I finally found the stylist I've been searching for.
Usually I walk out of a salon with everything looking great. The ultimate test is how my hair looks between cuts. And I have no complaints at all....
I highly recommend Cutz - thank you Colleen!!!
p.s.: the price is fair too!!
Cutz is the new home of the highly-touted Yvonne, formerly of Lucky 7. I only had one cut from Yvonne a few months ago, and she was so good I tracked her down to her new location a couple blocks down the way. I'm happy to report she's not too backloaded right now, and her prices are great. Hopefully things will stay that way - it's really tough to find a solid haircut for under $25 nowadays.

Just moved to the neighborhood and went to this place on a recommendation from another Yelpie. Colleen cut my hair and did a fantastic job. I love it. She also does complimentary bang trims. I'm coming back for sure!
