Are you a true Singaporean, Malaysian, Nonya or Peranakan?
For Asians like myself who moved to the States...this is heaven. Believe me cos I am very, very picky about food, taste, quality and of course, the price.
Authenticity...erm.. 65-70% (depending on what you ordered, doesn't really matter if you've never had Singaporean or Malaysian cuisine before)
Tastiness...95%
Price...compared to Singapore or Malaysia...lol...omg..wtf!!
Price compared to New York/Hawaii standards... awesome...very reasonable, ok??!!!
The roti canai USD$3.50 (in Singapore we call roti prata) considered authentic...imagine Singapore only S$0.70, Malaysia even cheaper, but I guess we are paying the "ah-neh" to fly here to flip the dough, lol)
Hainanese Chicken with rice is only USD$4.50!!! Where can get in NYC!!!??
Rojak malaysian style USD$7.95 lol
I guess the price varies according to popularity and also whether it's harder to make or import the ingredients.
Yesterday i just had, for the first time, after living in Hawaii for 2 yrs...the curry yong tau fu..omg...each mouthful i take i had to sigh..
the fish cakes...very good, the curry..very authentic :')
You see, after being deprived from Singaporean/Malaysian food for so long, this is definitely heaven. I was hopping for joy just reading the menu.
It wasn't my first time eating in the restaurant. The last time was 3/4yrs ago, so I flew all the way from Hawaii (10hrs) just to stay in flushing to eat, yup.
Would I recommend this restaurant? Totally man! It's home far away from home!! Please don't move or close down!!
Oh, they do state in their menu "Spiciness can be altered upon request" for those who can't take spicy foods ;)
(PS. and for those who are so freakin' uptight about the taste and how 'juicy' the chicken should be, why don't you fly 20+ hours back to eat your AUTHENTIC hainanese chicken rice then, otherwise just be thankful that there is a nice little cheap Malaysian restaurant around the corner in New York.)

after an all nighter, my brother and i were both hungry..but it was only 5 am...we went to maxins, but it was closed...we did notice that new curry was open just across the street...i was kind of hesitant to come here...i was just in malaysia less than a year ago and had some incredibly good food...i did not want to be disappointed...
although it was early, the restaurant was open with several patrons slurping away at what looked like some hot deliciousness.
we ordered:
prawn mee: nice chewy egg noodles, shrimp, rich seafood broth...very good
nasi lemak: this is a very commonly eaten breafast item in malaysia...it consists of coconut rice, dried anchovies, roasted peanuts, half of a boiled egg, and a spicy-sweet sambal sauce...it's usually wrapped up in a banana leaf and see tons of people on the street eating this on the go...new curry's version was so-so...the rice was somewhat overcooked, the anchovies could have been a little crispier...and the sauce was just okay
singapore style curried noodles: not bad
2 milk tea: pretty good...standard black tea with milk and sugar
the total came out to be less than $11
although it wasn't as good as what i've had in malaysia (maybe it's not fair to make that comparison)all the dishes were pretty decent...and for the price...i will definitely be back...

I have been eating here for years. I always get Roti Canai, which they do just fine. I also get Malaysian iced tea.
I am often stumped what to do for a main course. Often, i just order the beef satay appetizer and just eat that (and the Roti Canai).
Once in a while I feel like a main course and order the beef rendang, which is par for a Malaysian restaurant, but I am used to getting good beef rendang from the top-tier Malaysian restaurants, so it always tastes sub-par.
Very good food. I love the satay chicken/beef. The curry beef brisket noodles is great. So is the pipa duck and the house special pork. Great price for great food!
Did not like the food at all, which is surprising since most of my fellow Yelpers enjoyed this place.
We ordered the staple Hainanese chicken and roti canai. Let me break it down:
The Hainanese chicken was bland. And for Hainanese chicken that's really saying something since it normally is bland but still juicy and flavorful. The rice, which is the CENTER of this dish, was tasteless. Everyone knows that Hainanese chicken rice needs to be flavorful and needs to taste like chicken oil! But their rice was a sore disappointment for us... if you can't make this right, I won't even bother trying your other dishes.
The Roti canai wasn't right. The curry was made ehh, the bread was even more ehh. There is no other word to describe it except EHHH.
Give me Sentosa or Green Papaya anyday. I'd rather pay more for food that tastes better.
Love this place. I've been coming for at least a year to pick up tubs of their housemade kaya: fabulous. I finally stopped in for some actual food and was impressed by their Singapore noodles - not only were they tasty but cheaply priced ($6.25 landed me definitely over a pound of the stuff.)
And the spice level is just right. I can't wait to drag people through the streets of Flushing to eat here.

*this review is strictly for the hainan chicken.*
Before i get started, i have to say i work by the JFK airport and the food choices here are terrible to say the least. So imagine my delight when i found out this place will deliver through a third party to my location!
Anyways... I had pretty high hopes that this will become my new go to dish for work butttt no, it was not to be. If any of you ever hit the west coast and love hainan chicken you gotta hit up savoy http://www.yelp.com/bi... its the shit. And yes imo anything annie H. said about the dish is correct.... do yourself a favor and order something else!
One of my favourite Malaysian restaurant in NY other than Nyonya (and I'm Malaysian!), purely for the char kway teow (fried flat noodles) which is SO YUMMY! The waitress tried to explain to me about it being a little "fishy" cos of the cockles, but thats exactly what I like about this! Really tasty and done the authentic way. Also try the banana leaf chili fish (forgot whats the name but it's like sambal stingray back home) but only if you can take spicy stuff.
Only disappointment was the pineapple tarts I bought over chinese new year - but they had like 5 varieties so maybe it was just the one I chose!
Let it be known that I've been coming here since I was a kid to get my Malaysian fix. I even did a book report on Malaysia because of this restaurant when I was in the 2nd grade.
While sometimes you may wait a long time to be seated, this is not the norm. However, if you must wait, it is sooooo worth it!
Last night we waited a good 15 - 30 minutes for our table, but this place was PACKED and each table was filled with happy smiling chowing faces indulging in the savory dish es of Malaysian cuisine.
First things first, as soon as you sit down, order the Roti Cani (Indian style). Actually order 2 of them because you're gonna want a second. Crispy, puffy, Indian bread - dip in the chicken curry sauce that accompanies it and you're in heaven.
Second, order the Hainanaese Chicken - you will love it. Guaranteed! I'm giving you a guarantee here people! You will like it.
Then after that, you can do whatever your lil heart desires. Sometimes we get the porkchop. Sometimes we get the noodles. But whatever you do, make sure you order the first 2 items! It's not a Malaysian dinner without them.
At the end of the meal, be sure to order an ABC Ice for a refreshing after dinner feeling.

Malaysian Cuisine
Came here because a friend of mine had not eaten here in quite a few years. I've probably walked by this place many times, but I have not walked in. I even didn't know that there was Malay cuisine in Flushing. It looks like a hole in the wall, but the food is good.
I ordered the duck with rice, and my friends ordered dishes varying from pork chops, noodles and a lunch special where you can choose 3 items (bbq pork, curry and veggies). We also ordered the crispy roti as an appetizer. The food is very good here, even though the duck was a little tough. The roti cooked perfectly and the curry that complimented it was very good.
I would recommend this place to try. I'll come here again to have more of their roti and curry. Good stuff.

I'd been looking for an alternative Malaysian restaurant since Sentosa on Prince St. hiked their prices. Looks like this is it. The cooking style is pretty authentic, portions are decently sized, and prices are low. I had the curry mee with stuffed vegetables and roti canai with egg. Service is also pretty good. This restaurant is worth revisiting.

I have been going to Curry Leaves for years mostly for takeout. The lady in the front is nice to me. Always gets the order down exactly as I ask her to. The portions are enough for at least 2 meals. I have had the Hainanese Chicken over Rice here and I would have to agree that is PHENOMENAL. I have tried it different places and none is as good as Curry Leaves in portion, taste and price...at least not yet. I have tried the Chow Keow Teow, Mee Goreng and the Fried Pearl Noodles, totally recommend any of the above dishes. Hole in the wall but great food and great prices.
