This place is great and has a sweet lunch special! Right down the street from my work and such a gem! They are quick and easy and authentic. It's not the nicest place, but it's usually the hole in the wall places that have the best food and this is no exception to the rule! Chicken Tikka Masala is http://bomb.com! They have garlic-basil naan which is a nice little alteration to the standard garlic naan you get at most indian places.
Try it!!!
Unpretentious. Authentic. Delicious.
If you ask for spicy, they don't mess around, WOW!
On my vegan meal plan and half of their vegetarian menu is non dairy. Having options makes this entire vegan experiment more fun!
Yummy!!!!
I thought I'd struck gold when I wandered across the street from my former apartment and into this charming little place.
The decor isn't much (just a few IKEA tables and chairs), but their food is INCREDIBLE. Friendly staff that's happy to deliver, and you always get your choice of "heat" level when the food is prepared.
Chicken Tikka Masala is a must. Garlic Naan and rice make it a perfect meal.
Their leftovers are one of the few things that leave me excited to get out of bed the next day.
This place is the bomb diggy fresh ... 4 stars only because He asked me how Hot I wanted it and I said 10 out of 10 (I love severely blistering food) and it maaaybe felt like a 6ish. Either way good grub, and easy to find.
THIS INDIAN PLACE ROCKS.
I love their coconut chicken curry. Their portions/prices are great. It's a little small and not in the most beautiful street. I found it one day that I had to take my car in for a check up at the mini dealership, and fell in love with it.
If we are going for Indian, we always go here. Usually we do take-out, but they have a couple of tables so I don't think I would mind eating there at all.
I'm not even the biggest Indian food person, but this place is amazing, that even I crave it. Give it a try!
Today's lunch hit the spot. We picked Lamb biryani , lamb madras and lamb tikka masala and asked for HOT!! Still a bit on the greasy side, but was very tasty.
Dont forget to ask for Raita when you order it HOT.

Food is good but not the best i've tasted. Service is great.. But frankly there is no good Indian… Read more »
The place was dead inside for the entire meal, so we had 3 servers all to ourselves. The food came very fast and quick. I found the naan was a little dry, but if you dipped it in the marsala sauce it was very good.
They asked me how spicy I wanted my dish and I said spicy. It was sooo hot. Of course I had to be a man about it and say it wasn't that spicy but it burned going in and out.
The naan kinda drowned out the spice and I ate it all but I sure did pay for it later that night.
This place doesn't deliver and it advertises that it does! What a bummer. Otherwise, the food is unbelievably delicious.
The location is like sitting in a master closet with other patrons sitting on your lap. When you leave you smell like you worked the hot-line for three hours (not recommended for dates).Try to order for pick up and invite your friends over for a casual dine with some Bollywood rockin in the back.
Try to order all three kinds of the samosas, the cheese/garlic naan, and eggplant, and chicken tiki masala. the samosas are slightly larger and cone shaped served with a sweet minted cilantro sauce.
The naan is so wonderful- especially when dipped into the tiki masala sauce. Also, you can taste the ginger, tomato, ghee, corriander and cashew butter! The eggplant is so rich and is dripping with so much flavor its really hard to stop eating!
This location truly has a masterful chef in the back...
The flavors are so rich yet so colorful and distinct.
It is a must takeout location.
The menu says Curry Land damn it. LAND, not house. Let's just get that straight, because Curry House is so pedestrian and Curry Land sounds like a place you need a magic carpet to get to.
This closet of a place is tucked into a corner of a nondescript gray stucco building. They do have a few tables out front which is a good thing for two reasons.
One: you might never find it otherwise.
Two: the inside is so small that the food portions actually look bigger than they really are.
The second reason is important and here's why - their lunch special.
As hard as I try I can't quite figure how they figure that it's a special. I mean they must feel awfully imperious about their food because for $6.95 - $7.95 the "special" consists of one entree and a side of rice. No drink, no samosa, no naan, not even one sad single crispity crunchity papadam. So what's so special?
Well it's the food. They actually should feel imperious.
Their roasted eggplant bharta is served creamy style with the right mix of turmeric and coriander. Ask for it spicy, and spicy it shall be.
The chicken vindaloo is full of potatoes that just resist the fork but fall apart in your mouth, and the same could be said for the well marinated chicken. Ask for it spicy, and spicy it shall be. This is so important!
Treat yourself to a mango lassi. It comes out very cold in a short stout stemmed glass with a straw. If you like lassi thick and creamy and sweet but not too sweet, than this is your brew.
The decor isn't exciting. A press on brick facade blankets the walls. Tables and chairs hunker together lending little elbow room between you and your neighbor, so pray that they aren't left handed, unless you are of course. And it can get crowded and loud.
The service is no nonsense and I feel like I am always just two inches away from pissing off the waitress by asking for something I might not deserve, like more water. But overall the service is acceptable. Just know what you want when they come to ask. They will like that.
Minus one star for no liquor license.
I have always been impressed with this place and the food have always been excellent until my sister and I recently went there for a late lunch and they were about to shut down for the afternoon. I had been raving about this place to my sister so we were both excited. When we walked in and sat down the guy taking the order was short with us and the cook came out from the kitchen and rushed us to order making us feel really uncomfortable saying they are about to shut down the kitchen and to now and order quickly. We asked for the lamb masala and he said they didn't have time to cook it. I think they need to learn to be more hospitable especially since we are paying customers even if they are about to shut down the kitchen or put up a sign or something to say they are closing for the afternoon. When the food came, we felt rushed and didn't enjoy our food at all. Because of that I might not ever come back or recommend any of my friends and I have recommended many friends in the past. Too bad that experience have left a really bad taste in my mouth. My sister didn't enjoy the experience at all.
Hands down, the best Malai Kofta I've ever had. Unlike the usual Malia Kofta's, it's creamy sauce has a curry base.
And the samosa's are awesome too. They also have some curry infused flavor greatness.
Used to be Curry House, now Curry Land (same family owns)... our kids love the food, and so do we. All the food we've had is delicious, perfectly spicy, as to how you request it. I love the family that runs this place - they are great. They run on their own time, so not a place if you're in a rush - that's better for takeout. One time we showed up just after they opened and the cook wasn't there yet - but when he gets cooking, it's worth it. Of course, one of the reasons the food tastes so good is the liberal use of ghee! Not good for those watching their fat intake!
I usually get spicy shrimp korma, kids get shrimp biryani, and husband likes chicken tikka masala medium. I just crave their korma sauce!
Yum yum yum yum YUM!
Food-wise, this place really hit the spot. The meat was tender and flavorful. The rice was a nice counterpoint and mixed well with the sauce/spice from the Chicken Tikka Masala. Garlic Naan was mmmmm good although be careful if you're on a date . . .finally, I had a yummy mango drink (unfortunately don't remember what it was called) that was sort of a milkshake, sort of a smoothie, and sort of just essence of puree'd mango. Whatever it was, delish!
When we walked in, although it was late in the evening (9:00ish), there were still several people eating dinner. We just picked up a paper menu and ordered right at the register (for take-out). That worked very well and the neighborhood offered a couple of diversions (Mini-Coop dealership! Yay!) while we waited for the food.
A couple of warnings:
1. NO parking. There are one or two meters just up a side street to the right.
2. Very small building. Do not bring a large group here. Seriously cramped. I'm not kidding. TINY.
3. Not huge portions for the price. Decent (two of us split two entrees plus Naan) but not huge. No leftovers, sadly.
Extra goodies:
It's right across from the 99 Cent store (zomg love), which is a great place to waste time and/or pick up cheap drinks and desserts and other assorted impulse items while you wait for your meal.
Not to be the dud on a perfect score, but I cannot BELIEVE the reviews of this place! Maybe I had a fluke experience but this has to be hands down the WORST restaurant experience I have ever had. It was so bad I was tempted to leave without paying. One of my dining mates even muttered, "NEVER AGAIN". We ALL had terrible experiences.
First, we sat outside, which was ok, except for half our party was in a driveway and were mere inches from the passing cars. Yes, I know this place is tiny, but get a new spot or rearrange the tables differently.
Then we waited, which seemed to be the theme of our experience. We waited for menus. We waited for water. We waited and waited and waited. We waited for EVERYTHING. We waited a ridiculous time even to be greeted! We waited forever for a waiter to take our order. After our orders were in, we waited 20 minutes for our samosas and drinks.
Then another 20 minutes went by before we had our food. Had we though it would have expedite anything we would have had them pack it up to go, but we figured at the rate they were going it would be faster just to shove the food in and go.
And did I mention how poor the service was when we actually got some? One of my dining mates is a big eater and ordered a dinner portion instead of the lunch. He specifically said twice he wanted the larger dinner portion. Of course, they brought him the lunch.
I ordered my vindaloo spicy and had but one teeny glass of water to cool off with. My water was NEVER refilled.
And did I mention this indian food was AT BEST only ok? I've had better indian food in loads of other places. The tika masala tasted like nothing more than tomato sauce. It had no complexity. My samosa was cold. The chicken in my vindaloo was tough. Such terrible food.
Then when it was time to pay I asked for change for my $20 and my friend asked for a take out container. I was told they don't do change and my friend was told they'd bring the take out box.
We never saw the takeout box and we were left scrambling to scrounge up small bills to pay the bill.
The thing is I don't usually judge restaurants by the way they look, but the food at this place totally corresponds to the ambiance. This place is a rathole and they serve crap food with crap service. I wish I could have every penny back.
**As a note, we were on our lunch breaks, which means we were strapped for time. Restaurants that offer lunch specials understand this. We were seated for almost 1.5 hours and we were only eating for 10 minutes of that time.
***On another note, one of the girls I was eating with SWEARS by this place and eats here frequently. This encounter left her FUMING and she swore it was never like this. So maybe we had a fluke experience, but GOD what a nightmare.
I live down the street and for $12 we can pick up a curry dish and cheese naan (you MUST get the naan). One order will fill us both. Fine, we're cheap.
Definitely wouldn't want to eat here after you've gotten your hair done. It's just too tiny and your hair will smell like food (not sexy).
I called tonight for pick -up and nobody picked up . Finally, on the 5th try they picked up and when I asked if they were serving....they replied, "yep, we just came in late. Sounds like a family-run place. Pretty laid back - but the food is delicious.
I've eaten there many time and every time left very satisfied.
The food is excellent (especially if you add "the green sauce") and the service is great. I went in for a take out order once and as I was standing there smelling the kitchen, I almost forgot about my order the aromas were that good.
Like Jessi M. said, you will miss it if you blink, but maybe that's a good thing... available seating for me! The place is very tiny, but that just makes the service that much better.
The food was decent. The prices are much cheaper than Salomi Indian. The place is small and not much to look at. I wouldn't eat here for a sit down dinner.
They don't deliver, even though the sign says they do.
I visited for a togo order which I ordered in the restaurant and it took 25 minutes. I would recommend calling ahead and picking up.
I work very close to this place and we visit this place at least 2 times every week. Not a place to take your date to. The place is very very small but the food is good and prices are very cheap when compared to other indian restaurants in the neighborhood.
One less star for the crappy service (which we got used to and moreover, I am an Indian and so I can better communicate with them).
I have tried a lot of Indian restaurants in Los Angeles. None of them come close to Curry House. I grew up eating Indian food in my friend's home, not at a restaurant. The food here tastes like home cooked Indian, not a mass quantity buffet style. And they really make it how you want it. The hot is truly hot. Favorite place in LA.
Really yummy. Maybe slightly too expensive and the service was kind of slow and inattentive. But the food was delicious. I loved the duck curry and mango lassi.
I judge an indian restaurant by the samosas. This place had excellent samosas. Small and simple, my favorite indian restaurant. That's really all I need to say. The service is always prompt and sweet when I have gone and I have eaten in, picked up and had it delivered. The prices are awesome and the quality is so goooood. TRY IT!
Best Indian food in Los Angeles!!!
Everything I've had here tastes great! The best Chicken Tikka,
and the Veggie Korma is excellent too! Onion Pakora is a good appetizer!
This is a very small place, but again, the food is excellent, great place to do take out!!!
Tiny tiny tiny....did I say tiny? whatever you do, don't go during a busy lunch hour. There's like 5 tables in this place, but the food makes up for the lack of space. I had the chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, samosas, naan (garlic and reg) and it was all FANTASTIC. The naan was seriously delicious and I dont usually give much thought to the bread part of the meal. Also, I asked for it HOT....and it was actually HOT...imagine that...im so used to getting my dish just medium no matter how I request it. i will definitely be returning.
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is the food is great. Beyond that, there is so much to be desired.
*Do not bother coming within the first 30 minutes of opening because the cook does not arrive until usually 45 minutes after they open-afternoon or evening. In many restaurants this might be acceptable because eating is a time to spend with friends and family and sometimes the long wait is enjoyable. But if you are sitting in a space no larger than my bathroom and the persons elbow from the table next to you is on your table, you don't want to prolong your stay. Although there are a few seats outside with a wonderful view of Lankershiem Blvd traffic and exhaust and a beautiful view of the 99 cent store.
**If you order delivery, order 2 hours before you want to eat. I live only half a mile away and I'm not exaggerating.
***They may not charge you the price on the menu. If you show them the price on the menu, they just say, no it is a different price now.
Sometimes good food is worth rudeness, but I have given the place many tries and will not return.
Great Indian food at reasonable prices. I love the Malai Kofta. The sauce is wonderfully creamy with a slight nutty flavor. The vegetable samosas are crisp and not soggy or greasy. The mango lassi is refreshing and thick. The naan is also delicious. Don't let the hole in the wall appearance deter you from giving this place a try. They don't deliver but you can call in your order. There is absolutely zero ambiance in the restaurant but the service is polite and attentive.
is this place still in business???

Canned produce in the mint and tamarind?
Consistently fantastic Indian food! The naan is delicious, especially the garlic and cheese naan! Also, the coconut curry is superb. It's family-operated, and everyone is great and the service is fast and friendly. We usually opt for take-out, but there is both indoor and some outdoor seating.
+ cheap hole-in-the-wall. damn good veggie samosas. good-enough chicken tikka masala and chicken dansak.
-- uncomfortably small inside, or fumey lankershim traffic outside: take out!
Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in the Valley. The intersection of price and quality can not be matched! The Korma and Vindaloo are exquisite. You can taste the love that's been put into every dish.
Really good food. I'm talking pretty damn good. And the prices are pretty decent. Too bad the service kind of sucks a little bit. But even that is hard to say since I order from that place all the time and I feel a certain amount of loyalty to the place. My boss loves it and I'm always up for it. However, they should be friendlier and faster. It's totally awkward sometimes dealing with the service there. If it wasn't for the service, I'd give this joint another star, even though it's small as hell. Call ahead and order take out. Just plan for an hour turn around during lunch time.
just down the street from work. for the price you can't beat it! *note: their numbers changed: 818-509-7947
