Yummy curry, generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly, attentive service.  Food comes out lightning fast and reliably tasty.

I come here when I need a quick meal but don't feel like fast food.  I tend to always go with the spicy keema curry, but also like the curry bowls served in the hot stone bowl... the portions are freaking ginromous!  Dinner meals come with soup or salad (corn pottage is nice and rich, and I *love* the house made salad dressing) and a beverage.

On thing I really like about this place is that they don't skimp on the condiments like Hurry Curry across the street, where they give you a tiny little plate of pickles.  At Curry house, each table is stocked with a big jar of the sweet red pickles (I can really inhale those) and they happily replace those if you ask.

If you like Curry, please go here.

The ambience is regular, the service is good, the prices are pretty decent and the curry is to die for!

I get the beef curry or the menchi katsu and I am slobbering for more every time.

I also love the corn chowder and the tropical ice tea (like asian sweat tea).

I crave their curry all the time, as they put some kind of crack in it. It's my favorite place at the moment.

p.s. if you don't like curry - what's wrong with you? : )

In the interests of full disclosure: I'm not really a big curry fan. I ate waaaay too much golden curry in college (rice plus box curry = cheap eats, and a reasonable ramen alternative for your in-dorm cooking).

For me, this is probably more of a 3.5, but it's really very good, and has some cool eats. If you like Japanese style curry, this might well rate a 5-star. I ventured out and tried the mushroom, fish roe, mayo pasta--and as odd as it sounds, it was pretty tasty.

Out of the the different curry dishes at our table, the hamburger patty one that my sister got looked the tastiest.

Everytime I go to the the Curry House I always think I'm going to rock  something new. But then I set my sights on Pork Katsu and I'm sold. It happens to me every time. Oh well, it still rocks! Portions are very good and I always think they can make the curry just a little more spicier. But if you do get the Katsu, it comes with rice and a little salad.

Be advised - it's best to try and park in the building. They'll give you a ticket and Curry House will validate it for two hours free.

I would just like to point out that my family has been going to the Curry House in Cypress, CA for years, so when I moved to Los Angeles I had to make sure to visit all the Curry Houses closer to my residence.

When I was 17, the restaurant in Cypress was my first serving job (that was about 10 years ago now and the flavors havent changed)  I worked there for about a year.  Its regular customers are generally Japanese (which is typically a good thing when choosing ethnic restaurants to eat at--to find people of the same ethnicity dining there!). However, the traditional Japanese cultural environment clashed with my very outgoing-"American" way of handling my tables.  Needless to say, I left the job.  But one would think that my palette for Curry House would also dwindle having worked there as some of my friends who worked as baristas can no longer even stand the smell of things that resemble their previous place of employment. For this place, it is simply just not true.

It's addicting aromas stay embedded in your memory long after you have left your dining table. The Curry House off of Sawtelle is the closest to my place as the one in Downtown, though original, is harder to find parking.

The Sawtelle branch sits proudly on the 2nd floor of a shopping center, overlooking a great little Japanese market that I often frequent after eating.  Upon entering the restaurant, your nose is filled with the decadent smells of the sweet sweet nectar. Now Japanese curry is different from Thai and Indian curry (which I both LOVE)  It's sweeter and denser and I simply cannot get enough of it! When working there as a teenager, I must have gained like 10 pounds that year eating it every day...

The decor is pretty simple.  Nothing really fancy.  And sometimes it will take the waiting staff a little while to refill your drink, but the food is so good. I introduced the cuisine to some people at my previous job and they would spend their whole hour break to drive to and back to pickup their lunch only to eat their perfectly packaged to-go order at their desk.

Glass of Tropical Iced tea, cup of corn potage, Hot Hamburger Curry with spinach and garlic rice (costs like $1.50 to sub instead of plain white rice), a jar of red pickles, and coffee jelly with a shot of kaluaha and cream for dessert.  Don't bother me--I'm eating.

More of your family oriented restaurant. Decent food. Large portions. Fairly priced. Service is good. If you are a spicy food lover like myself, order the "extremely hot or hot hot hot" or whatever they call their really hot curry. I ordered the regular spicy curry but came out bland? Can't say it's the best Japanese curry house.

What I want to know is... What the hell is curry bread??!! EW?

I frequent Curry House quite a bit when I am in Waikiki, so I decided to try out the Curry House in LA. After doing some shopping and getting my appetite ready, I parked and entered Curry House.

The staff is very attentive and friendly.  My drink (Diet Coke) was consistently refilled and the server checked in on me frequently to ensure everything was okay.

I was hoping for more topping options with the curry.  After pondering a bit, I ordered the rice in stone bowl with Pork Katsu.  I asked for the curry to be medium hot.

The dish itself was okay.  Nothing to rave about but the concept was good.  It was a bed of rice in a hot stone bowl with various veggies, an egg, and pork katsu on top.  The curry was served in a separate bowl which is then poured into the stone bowl.  My server mixed it up for me.

I definitely should have went with Hot or Extra Hot.  There was no kick of any sorts with medium curry.  And when my server poured in the curry, it seemed like a lot, but as you eat, the curry gets soaked up by the rice.  I definitely could have used some more curry in the stone bowl.

The stone bowl dish was $15 and it's served with soup or salad.  I opted for the miso soup.  The soup was excellent.  Has pieces of tofu, seaweed, and spinach.  And the soup was served HOT; extremely hot, which was fine with me.

Total tab was little slightly over $20 for the dish, diet coke, and tax & tip.

Japanese style curry should be spicy with a bit of a kick to it. At least that is what I expect from Japanese style curry. The curry here is just too mild and a bit sweet for my tastes.

I will say it is interesting to order Chicken Cutlet Curry in a restaurant with tablecloths. The service here is decent. Over all though I would rather go across the street to Hurry Curry because for me it tastes better.

I love coming here when I'm craving curry and don't wanna slave over a hot stove for it.

Place is always full, but I've never had to really wait.

Their appetizers are just a-okay. Shrimp and calamari taste like out of the freezer bag stuff and the sesame chicken is waste of time. I do however love their paper thin pork (floured thin pork deep fried) and corn pottage soup is so thick and creamy.

Depending on what time of day it is I usually get the pork katsu curry. If I'm here at night I get the stone pot curry with has scorched rice and no salad unlike the regular platter.

One time my friend and I didn't have god service at first and right when they realized that they tried to make everything okay and were very apologetic after that. We even got free dessert.

Always a good place and always will be coming back for more.

i been there twice.

the first time, i dont even remember what i had, but my friend had some dish with chicken, and the chicken was undercooked.

the second time i had keema curry. keema curry is def one of my favorite curry USUALLY, but keema curry at this place was terrible...

i dont know how they can mess up that bad.
all the ingredients sounds good, mushroom, boiled egg, ground beef... but it was really bad :(

maybe though, some ingredient was rotten or something.
i dont know what it was but it just tasted really weird...

well i havent tried their regular kind of curry yet
so maybe ill come back one more time to see if it was just a bad choice...

cos it can't be that bad to have that regular crowd there

Crunchy Fried outside, sweet dense bread middle, flavorful curry center . . . Curry pan. . . I am in love with you. . . you make waiting for my meal to come a pleasure. . .

What else to get? Get the Curry combination. It comes with a nice healthy salad, the corn "pottage" (more like cream of corn), a bowl of curry, rice, and two fried shrimps. It's the best bang for you buck and the perfect amount of food!

Curry at the Curry House is consistently good and perfect for these winter days when we want something warm and filling!

"I use to be a Hurry Curry fan, until I came here."

I can't remember when I first came here, since I was an avid fan of Hurry Curry across the street, but I'm very glad I did.

Their curry is a lot more sweeter than Hurry Curry and I really like that, and I do enjoy their salad better, which has more veggies like corn and such. This venue is also a lot bigger and spacious with a larger selection on the menu, such as stone pot meals (meals served in a hot stone pot). I usually opt with a typical Katsu Chicken (so good!) or the Curry Rice Set, which has a bit of everything: salad, rice, chicken curry, shrimp tempura and a cup of their corn soup, which is really delicious and creamy. Another of my favorite dishes is the Keema Curry: ground beef mixed with mushrooms, potatoes, garlic, red chilies, carrots with a soft boiled egg (you can get it fully cooked btw). Oh dear, just writing about it is making me SO hungry!

And what's really cool besides getting those mints at the end (they look like candy), is the downstairs Beard Papa's! That means I get to get some cream puffs for dessert. Another pro is the parking! There is an underground garage to park in and free validation when you dine at Curry House. That way, you don't have to worry about looking for parking on the streets. And c'mon now, parking in LA sucks!

If you're too lazy to make your own curry or just don't want to be stuck eating leftovers from your crockpot for a week, this is a good alternative.

FOOD: Their veggie curry was good.  The curry sauce itself was very pungent yet sweet, just how I like it.  Could definitely taste the star anise seasoning, which I also like.  And the spiciness... this place actually has it down.  Ah, and the corn soup was YUM - probably the best part of the meal.  Just wish they would have more veggie options.

AMBIENCE: Cute and relatively easy to find (it's in a shopping complex off Olympic and Sawtelle), usually free parking in the lot.  Service was nice enough, nothing spectacular, and it's kind of hard to judge service when you're eating at 10 pm.  However, the restaurant is clean and actually has tablecloths, so this is a good spot even for a casual date... or a late night craving.

PRICES: Are so-so.  About $10-$12 a person, and you normally leave pretty full.  Normally I refuse to pay that much money for a dish that I could make at home, but again... this is a nice alternative if you don't want to slave over the stove making some good curry.  And I do love me a good curry.

PARKING: There's a lot, and though there's sometimes someone patrolling it, it's normally free. Especially around 10 pm, which is normally when I get my curry hankering.

Thumbs up!

This place is GREAT.  Food is delicious, it's a nice looking place, and the prices are reasonable.  I ordered the chicken katsu and I was not disappointed.  It might have been the best chicken katsu I have ever had.  The curry that they served with it was delicious and completed the dish.  This place is making me a fan of Japanese curry all over again.

The bottom line is, this place has EXCELLENT food at a reasonable price and nice environment.

NOTE:  I ordered the chicken katsu super hot and it turned out to be a mistake.  The chicken katsu is hot (temperature wise) and the super hot just messed me up!  Temperature hot and spicy hot is not a good combination

i love specials, they narrow my decisions and make it that much easier to get on with my day.

Up at Curry house was a Ginger chicken curry with spinch garlic rice. Salad and soda 9.45 lunch deal. (see pic) Caveat. VERY Hot! Apprehensive, I ask, does this have to be this hot? "Yes". Can you take a it down a notch? "No"

Oh...

So presented with a plate of curry with braised chicken (not fried), first bite- this is really freaking HOT. But I recollect, concentrate and power through the second and third. It was actually quite tasty, and the curry gets less hot with each bite. That or my taste buds walked out, being mowed down a few inches.

All in all, a nice spot for lunch. Watch out you early birds, they only open at 12PM

If the cramped parking garage and the antiquated parking attendant system doesn't leave a bitter taste in your mouth, then the forecast is good for Curry House.

Let's say if Curry House was closer to where I worked, I'd hit this place up regularly once a week for lunch.  Their katsu (pork) curry is very good.  The portions are generous and will throw you off your Weight Watchers scale for sure.  The katsu is hot and crisp and the curry almost just right - I personally could use more curry sauce since I like mine juicy. =P  Now I think it's a bit of a cop-out for them to charge extra for the extra spicy curry level.  Service is friendly and proficient.  The interior is modern and clean and laid out so that you won't feel uncomfortable stopping in for lunch alone or hitting it up with a group of friends.

I upgraded this 2.5 stars because the waitress was helpful and nice. The food here, however, is kind of bland. May be because we ordered the daily special/s with free soup or salad and soda.

The soup (corn I think) was actually very good, but the curry was just so-so. I gave up my soda to my dining companion and got myself a beer instead. Didn't really save the meal. May be ordering a la carte will bring something better.

I usually go to the one in Little Tokyo, but this one is basically the same.  I took my family here for the first time for a late dinner.  They never had Japanese curry before, and were a bit hesitant about the whole concept of Japanese Curry.  Needless to say that they were even more skeptical about Japanese Spaghetti.

The whole experience was too funny.  Unlike people watching, when you are watching people that you know, especially family - the whole experience is like an inside-joke that you secretly share with yourself as you chuckle and chuckle... to yourself.  I watched my dad as he discovered how amazing their flavored simple syrup was in his iced tea.  He was like a kid that just discovered the concept of sugar.... because before I even knew it, half of the simple syrup was already in his ice tea! O_O Thank goodness he doesn't have diabetes!

My dad had their Grilled Stone Curry Rice Special ($15.50) which included curry, soup or salad, rice, and choice of meat (Katsu, Ribeye Steak, Eel, or Seafood).  He loved it!!!  My father is a very difficult and hard to please man, so to see him falling in love with Japanese Curry and their flavored simple syrup... it was definitely a sight to see!! HahAha!  The rest of my family just had variations of their curries and combinations!!  We all had a fabulous meal!!

Seeing how much my family enjoyed themselves, I am definitely going to take them to the one in Irvine.  Curry House = Simple, Tasty, & Yummy!  Thumbs up!

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. I want to state up front that I plan on visiting this place again, and often.

The food is great. I've been going into chicken katsu curry withdrawal ever since CoCo Ichibanya of Japan and I parted ways. (How I miss thee, chicken katsu 300mg level 7 with cheese.) The curry here tasted very authentic, and the manager told me that in fact CoCo Ichibanya purchased their curry sauce from Curry House, which I'm inclined to believe.

While I was in New York, I dealt with Go Go Curry, which had all the fun and kitsch of small town Japan, though the curry itself was only a second-rate substitute. Curry House seems to suffer from the converse: great food in a sub-par setting.

The restaurant is hidden on the second floor of a complex of Japanese stores (and a private-room karaoke joint downstairs that's a whole lot of fun.) The entire place has a kind of cheap feeling to it, and when I went there were pretty shoddy Halloween decorations haphazardly strewn here and there.

The service was okay, but only okay. Food came out quickly and I never grew impatient waiting for refills, but my waitress suffered from that urban Japanese housewife charisma where they're very polite and shy but you're not sure why you're afraid they're going to murder you in an explosive rampage one day.

The manager came out and gave us 20% off coupons, which was really nice, and we talked for a moment about that famed Japanese curry joint, but ultimately he came off as a little desperate.

Also, parking is abysmal, although there is a parking garage I haven't tried out and apparently they validate, so take that criticism very lightly.

Overall, like I initially said, the curry is magnificent. If they're open when you finish karaoke at the joint downstairs, go ahead and come upstairs. Japanese curry is a comfort food, best when drunk, and it does wonders to prevent hangovers.

The best thing about this place is the Tofu Cheesecake.  Everything else is mediocre.  I've ordered the pork Katsu every time I've been here and it has always been solid.  Tasty and a big portion.  Although, one time my friend came and said she pulled a long hair out of her curry.  That kind of grossed me out but hey, it can happen anywhere.

Italian-Japanese fusion? Yes!  Curry spaghetti? YES!

I think I came here with a friend around Halloween, and the entire restaurant was covered with the cutest Halloween decorations. Awesome!

They give big portions here, maybe in following with the Italian side of their cuisine heritage? Score!

This place seems pretty good for friends, dates, and families.  There is parking at the plaza where it's located, which also includes Nijiya Market and Yogurtland and BEARD PAPA.  Yey!

5+ stars for service!  This was our first time here, and the manager could tell.  He was so nice and gave all 5 of us a little bowl of curry chicken with rice to try!  We were sold - it was great, so we got a table.

My bf and I shared the chicken katsu curry.  Their food comes in large portions.  If you get your own entree, you will likely leave with leftovers.  Great food!

Now, I don't usually write reviews of chain restaurants, but since each has it's own local feel, I figured I would give my 2 cents.

I thoroughly enjoy Curry House.  Here, I'm a total creature of habit--I'm not sure I've ever ordered anything except the Hot Stone Katsu.  I love how the rice toasts throughout your meal--the crispy bits at the bottom of the bowl are the best!  I also appreciate how your waiter will toss the hot stone curries tableside--I don't have the coordination to do that without burning the heck out of myself.

With our leftovers (and there are always leftovers) we fry them in a pan to try to crisp up the rice--it's never quite as good as the blazing bowl toast, but serviceable.

Alcohol prices aren't terrible; a cold Kirin is perfect with a hot curry.

Parking doesn't suck quite as bad as suggested--the underground garage has always had spaces when we've come here, even on the weekend.

I like Japanese curry, but I don't eat it often, so Curry House was a treat for me. Right away I will tell you that their curry sauce has MSG (check the menu), so if you're allergic or avoiding MSG, I'm not sure what you can eat here, maybe the spaghetti? Oh, they have some salads too. But it's called CURRY House, so I ordered the tofu and ground chicken curry and the bf ordered one of their specialties, the grilled stone curry with seafood. Both of our dishes come with your choice of soup or salad. We had the miso soup, which was quite good. I loved my tofu curry dish. The garlic and spinach rice was amazing - I could taste garlic in every bite. The tofu and ground chicken curry was spicy and soo flavorful. Unfortunately I probably won't try anything else on the menu because I will order this every time I'm here. The grilled stone curry took a lot longer to come out, and when it did, it was way too hot to eat. My bf attempted, but it was so hot that you couldn't taste anything. He took most of it home, and he said it was better the next day.

I thought prices were a little steep, but then I remembered that most of the dishes come with soup or salad, and the portions are big. The dining area is nice - fairly spacious including some tables on the balcony if you want to sit outside. I can't say it stands out from all the other restaurants on Sawtelle, but if you're in the mood for curry, Curry House is a safe choice.

This place is amazing. I can probably eat here for lunch and dinner on the same day everyday and not get sick of it. What makes this place so good and highly-praised? THE FOOD. and of course its interior. its friendly staff. and location...it's well-placed on Sawtelle.

I came to this Curry House for a friend's birthday lunch and it was pretty packing but we had reservations so we didn't have to wait. I ordered the chicken katsu and when it came out, my tongue and mouth jumped with glee. Boy was I hungry. I devoured the dish within 5-10 minutes. I usually don't eat like a pig but this time I blame Curry House.

The chicken was well-fried, tender, golden, and juicy. You know what's even better? Adding those sun-dried tomato pickles onto your curry dish, and it intensifies the delicious flavor EVEN MORE. The dish came with salad but I usually don't touch salads at restaurants.

Overall, it's a really good place to eat, and it doesn't jack up your wallet. Oh yeah parking here is a validation kind-of-parking. But Curry House is really nice to give you 90 min parking passes ! Woot !

I love this place for their Keema Curry.  For some reason out of everything here I can eat that dish as my default every time.

I came here with a friend last week and since it was his first time, they gave him a free drink card and a stamp card for 20%. He was thrilled. I also got a free drink card.

During christmas they have a special gift deal. For $30 you get a $30 gift certificate, a bottle of their salad dressing, and an assortment of japanese curry ingredients to make your own japanese curry. Totally worth it! I got this for my landlords for christmas whom have never been there. They enjoyed it and added it to their list of favorite food places.

I used to go more often when I worked nearby. My experience here has definitely has gotten better since they've been actively asking for feedback on their food and service. I can see how they pride themselves in their service and food, it really shows and I love it!

It's a great place to go! I'm soooo a fan!

I used to be in seriously love with this place.  I was always a Hurry Curry fan until this placed opened up.  They sent me 50% off coupons in the mail and i figured it was worth a try.  the food back then was terrific.  service was impeccable.  that was a good eight years ago though... and well i think my curry allegiance in the west LA area has shifted back to Hurry Curry.  The cutlet at Curry House now seems dryer and the curry seems a little more "manufactured."  They have new options like super hot but honestly all it seems to be is chili powder that makes the curry taste chalky.  it definitely does not blend at all.  the stone pot curry portions seem smaller as well.  The place isn't terrible, obviously, but i dont see the point of going here when i can go across the street for better curry.

With a couple of curry places and plenty of choices to pick from in the area, this one is an excellent choice for when you want that Curry or Japanese Spaghetti. Which they seem to advertise a lot for.

I dunno, I may not be in the mood to have strange things in my pasta and sauce. Not to mention that driving up Sawtelle is an exercise in restraint as you're tempted by so many of these delicious sounding places.

Why we picked this place? I don't know. It was a quick late evening meal. Seating was quick. I think it was a weeknight, so you're never going to face much opposition. It's those weekend rubes that take up all the space and make the service go down on the weekends.

Ended up with a seafood curry plate. Was ok, wasn't too impressed. I mean, seafood curry usually falls into two fields- Really great or just meh. The meh-ish ones are usually that way because they tossed in just enough sea creatures to legally call it a seafood curry.

That was the case here. I'll give them another try sometime but I wasn't too impressed. Especially since there's so many other delicious places to eat in this area.

First off, let me say that I don't think that I like curry. Why would a person, like me, who doesn't enjoy curry, or rice dishes really, come to a place called Curry House? My friends and I really wanted to have Furaibo (on the corner) for lunch but they weren't opened for lunch on a Saturday so in the interest of saving time and trouble we went to Curry House and I acted like I didn't mind....

When we finally decided that we would eat here I was STARVING. Aboslutely famished.  We took the elevator up to the 2nd floor and when we got to the restaurant I found a beautiful sign staring at me.  It was a picture of a delicious bowl of Jambalya starting at me in the face.  It was Jambalaya Curry, a new dish Curry House was introducing for a limited time.  I immediately perked up and decided that was what I was going to get.

We sat down and I ordered a Calpico Milk with Melon Syrup - it tasted great but it also cost $4 for a small glass.  When my Jambalaya Curry was brought to the table it looked as curry does, but my first bite and I was satisfied with the flavor. It was great. The perfect combination of Jambalaya with a slight hint of that curry flavor. I fell in love.  I went on to brag about it to the BF for hours and I've made him promise that we have to go to the Curry House closer to home (Puente) some time soon before that Limited Time Special goes away for good.

Can't wait to eat it again!

Japanese curry is the ultimate comfort food. No frills, just a huge plate of rice and rich gravy.

Curry House is the place to go on the west side when you just want to throw on a sweatshirt and get a good hearty meal. There's never a wait to sit, and the dishes come out quickly. I usually stick to the chicken katsu curry, but I plan on trying some of their spaghetti dishes next time. From what I understand it's a sweeter sauce than the pasta you'd get at an Italian place.

Also excellent are the corn potage (is that another word for chowder? because that's basically what this is), and the iced tea that comes with a little tiny container of sweetener.

Driving in the Sawtelle area can be a maddening experience, and I don't mean football. Japanese curry is a comfort food, and I definitely needed the comforting.

The curry is not spicy, even when you add hot oil sauce. So if you want something to burn your tongue and throat, you might be a little disappointed. But the deep fried meats and seafood are excellent. The omurice is pretty good, but I am not a big fan of the pilaf. The pork katsu is not too pleasing. This is probably because I am not fond of pork.

So if you need to fill your hankering for Japanese curry with a bunch of very polite Japanese waitresses, then you want to come here. The restroom is really clean, but you won't need it. No diarrhea here! Don't worry! Ken-tested. Ken-approved.

If you're not in the know and someone mentions curry... Japanese food would not be the first thing to pop into your mind. It's kind of a strange cross cultural invention (thanks 19th century imperialism!), but a good one for sure. The Japanese reinvented the essence of curry so well that it's become a kind of national home cooked dish in Japan. Everyone there loves it, and by the magic of international franchises, we get to love it here in the US too!

In this area of Sawtelle there are 3 options for curry: Curry House, majestically perched atop the 3rd floor of a shopping mall; Hurry Curry, which is across the street in a strip mall; and the lesser known Blue Marlin from the same strip mall. They all serve up essentially the same freakin thing. On this issue of dueling curry establishments, I personally prefer Curry House. My reasons are complex, but I will try to explain: I went to Curry House first. It's the first place I ever ate Japanese curry. Same deal with Snatch and Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels. They are the same movie. But invariably if you sample random peoples' opinions on the films, whichever one they saw first will be their favorite.

Anyway, the decor at Curry House is a little nicer, a little brighter.  Neither place puts much spice in their curries, even if you request it. The curries are well balanced and rich, coming together nicely with a bed of white rice and topped with breaded chicken, pork or steak. Toss in a potato croquette (creamy potato filling inside a fried golden brown exoskeleton) and you're set. They have a limited selection of beer and sake. But they do have ginger ale, which is always a plus.

Lately I've been trying some of the other dishes, like the keema curry which basically kind of looks like a large animal chewed up some ground beef, onions, potatoes, garlic, carrots, curry sauce and spices and threw it all up on a plate with a softboiled egg and a pile of rice. It was pretty delicious. The Spicy Ginger Chicken however was neither spicy, nor particularly gingery. Flat but fine, just like Keira Knightley.

I do not know, nor have I personally witnessed, anyone purchase or consume spaghetti from this restaurant.

Very good Curry!!! Good pricing too. My favorite curry is the chicken katsu. I find it incredible how CONSISTENT this restaurant is with cooking their food. Every time I go to the Curry House, the food always looks and tastes the same way.

Their salad also tastes spectacular. I have no clue what kind of sauce they use on their salads, but it tastes awesome and low cal.

You can check our their menu at:
http://www.house-foods...

The restaurant staff is highly efficient. My refills always come before i have to ask . The waiters are always checking on you to make sure everything is ok.

Customer service is OUTSTANDING. Yesterday I tried a new dish, and I totally didn't like it (I had custom ordered a spaghetti). I told the waitress that it tasted too blend and that there wasn't enough tomato sauce on it. She promptly called the manager (I didn't even have to ask), and the manager arrived immediately. The manager quickly offered to give me anything else on the menu... and so I ordered my usual, the chicken katsu which arrived in less than 5 minutes by the way. I am highly impressed with the customer service at the Curry House.

As far as the decor and atmosphere: The place looks nice inside. It is not high end nor do they try to look like a high end restaurant. It is definitely clean and cozy... has hardwood floors and is not always busy. I don't think I ever had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated, and I've been going to the Curry House for a really long time.

I am a little pissed that they discontinued the Chicken Masala Curry!! :((( I used to love that darn thing!! I spoke to the restaurant manager who informed me that the Chicken Masala Curry was a temporary/promotional dish and that people weren't asking for it. (WTF...I was asking for it) If you are reading this review, can you please nag the restaurant manager to return the Chicken Masala to the menu? Thanks!!!

One more recommendation: Chicken&Ginger curry and the Grilled Stone Chicken Katsu curry (This one is kinda big... so you might wanna share).

I love this place.

Still solid curry. Not standout, but very solid. It's the specials, especially stone pot, that are very good... the killer for me is that some of the specials are a tad pricey (really not too bad) and service is only okay.

It's a tough area to be in. And as much as I love the stone bowl and some others, some of their competition has dishes I love even more...

amazing. they have these GREAT curry pans that are best when spicy. you can choose vegetable, chicken, katsu, and beef for the diff types of curry in addition to white rice, brown rice or spaghetti.

they have lots of special deals if you sign up for their mailing list, but it's super crowded.

if you're not in the mood for curry or spaghetti the gratin set with rice pilaf is really good because you get that, corn chowder, a salad, and garlic toast.

overall though good food but kind of expensive.

You get a few stars JUST for having two legit hara-juku girls in here!! But you get a few stars minus for having some pale-looking large white ladies dressed up like hara-juku girls. So that was weird... but I'm very judgmental. Let them dress how they want, even if it makes them look like they fetish-ize Asian things.

Anyway, about the food. I thought it was mediocre. Though my friend who lived in Japan for a year said it was very authentic, primarily the setup. I thought it tasted good, but I guess I have this problem with Japanese food that it always tastes the same to me. Like Hurry Curry across the street basically could be Curry House and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. But I also didn't think it was spicy at ALL, as the waiter did tell us. And my friend who ordered "HOT OIL" (as they suggest on the menu for the spiciest of all) called it a joke. So then you have to add Tabasco (weirdest hot sauce choice for a Japanese restaurant) to get it spicier.

They also have this weird "refill" policy where it's essentially telling you that you can't ask for a refill, you have to wait for the waiters who are "trained to fill up your glass." It's so weird. It's so Asian/cheap, but I would really expect that more at a Chinese restaurant. But the Arnold Palmer I ordered was EXCEEDINGLY tasty, something in that lemonade really cracked me out, I had like 6 glasses of it.

Portion size was good; I had half my meal and the other half for lunch the next day, but a good eater would be able to finish it all. Prices were normal LA, like $9-something for my basic chicken curry with a small side salad.

I won't be begging to come back, but I also wouldn't mind trying some other stuff on their menu. Essentially, 2.5 stars for being average but I'm rounding up to 3 because of its "authenticity."

The limited time special was the jambalaya curry.  So being a fan of seafood and feeling adventurous as always, I ordered it, extra spicy of course.  Calamari rings, bay scallops, catfish, shrimp, clams, andouille sausage, kidney beans, clams, tomatoes, fresh garlic, onions over rice in a spicy curry sauce: it did not disappoint. There was just enough heat that made my bald head glisten, which I was very pleased.
This was a great Saturday lunch experience. Service was both prompt and friendly.  I appreciated them refilling my water several times.
