Mrs. C was holding a grudge against this place, so while I love going to Curry House, I was unable to do so for more than 1 year. We just returned from Hawaii on a red eye flight, so in her sleep-deprivated state, I convinced her to have lunch with me. hee hee =) The chicken katsu curry here is my favorite, and it seems that they have added 2 levels of spiceness beyond hot, at a small extra charge.
What I love about the presentation at Curry House is that salad, rice, katsu and curry arrive on 1 plate, but sensibly arranged. See Sharon k's excellent picture of what you get. It's hard for me to put my finger on exactly why, but I like this Curry House's version better than the equivalent at Hurry Curry or Naganaga Ramen.
So, I'm a very happy guy and hope that my next visit won't take another year.
Curry in a Hurry! Little Tokyo and its most popular curry place!
Disclaimer: The best Japanese curry I had was at Mitsuwa in the OC about 8 years ago. I don't remember the details except it was not from a powder. The spices were individually prepared and it was served on a paper plate. My first visit to Curry House. Kudos to Maggie C for suggesting this place.
~Ambiance/Service
The restaurant is clean and the ambiance is fresh and reviving. I had a great host who was very attentive. I have to say I was impressed with both the ambiance and the service. The food was served super fast which makes this an ideal place for a shorter lunch..4 stars.
~Food
The menu was impressive. A very large assortment of various curry dishes. I had ordered a lunch special. The lunch specials are cheaper but may not necessarily be the best dish. I am a fan of the food but am going to refer you to read Maggie C's review. I just read it and I have to say I can not write anything better than that.
The price was very reasonable. I will be back. However, when I go back I will be armed, not with a weapon, but with Maggie C's review. Hamburger curry is one of my favs..I so need to try it here!
Love my dish whenever I come.
But I must admit that this place is overrated AND the curry is made from those packages you get from the supermarket ($4 a box which makes 15 servings, or so)
But the food tastes great regardless.
This was my first Japanese curry, so it was my best Japanese curry by default. That being said, comparing it to Thailand or India, I'm not sure Japan holds a candle to the other styles.
I got the vegetable curry, which was...entertaining. The vegetables looked like they were once of the frozen variety, since the mix consisted of corn, mini carrots, chopped green beans, etc. The brown curry tasted good, but could've used a little more uh...how do you say...flavor. The option for brown rice was nice, paying $1 extra was not. In the end, it was a good lunch, but nowhere impressive enough to compel me to come back.
Parking is in the garage & this restaurant validates it for you. Hooray for free parking. It's hard to find parking in this structure though & it's really crammed. Skip the elevators & just walk the stairs, you'll get to your destination a lot faster.
This place is just okay for me. I ordered their lunch special which was chicken & ginger curry with a free drink, I got a coke & it comes with free refills. It looks small when you first get it but it's actually quite filling. The chicken meat didn't taste good at all to me. Their curry however was pretty different than the ones I've tasted, so yay for that. However, I didn't like my dish. The chicken tasted weird, the curry was good but it was too spicy. My friend said it's inconsistent because sometimes when she gets it, it's REALLY spicy & other times it's not spicy AT ALL. I guess on the day we came, it was REALLY spicy. Well, the salad it came with was good though, helped my tongue A LOT with the spiciness. My cousin ordered their newest dish, don't remember the name of it but she looked like she enjoyed it.
I'll definitely come here again when I get the chance to & try something different this time.
Just like how my mom use to make it!
When I'm on my Japanese curry binge I usually come to this spot because it does the job right. You knoww what I mean?
I usually get either the chicken katsu curry or the one with the weiners and spinach. One of my friends always gets the hamburger patty one which is also real good. I get the curry spicy but it was never really spicy enough. I went there last night and they now offer "extra spicy" and "super spicy" for $0.25 more. I chose the super spicy just to make sure I'd be releasing some sweat and I chose correctly! Daaaamn it's about time. The super spicy is spicy enough to make your tongue sting a little and your stomach warm. The good thing about it is the burn wears off as soon as you stop eating it.
They also offer pastas but I've never tried them myself. I'm thinking about ordering one the next time I'm here. Saw people at a table next to us with one and it made my mouth water.
Mmmmmmm, the curry is delicious here. I like the fact that they have a bottle of hot oil (to make your curry spicier) at your discretion. The rice is not too starchy so I was not full right away as I did with Hurry Curry.
Nice place to eat. I would definitely come back to try other foods on the menu.
After 20+ years I always rate their curry THE BEST. I am fanatic about their pork cutlet curry. This is something I can eat on a daily basis. Even my 8 year old son can't get enough of this that he always orders the adult size dishes.
My little delicious heaven in Little Tokyo!! I try to make it over to Weller Court and eat at Curry House every so often. It brings me great joy to fill up on saucy curry that is nicely spiced topped over your favorite protein (hamburger, chicken, seafood) and rice. There's nothing you can go wrong with on the menu (the only thing I haven't had is the wiener curry....wiener covered in sauce, just doesn't do it for me...LOL). Even the spaghetti curries are money!!
They're running a special right now: drink, salad, and a curry dish (select curries) for under $10. You can't beat that!!
I had the scallop and clam curry....EXCELLENT!! Four huge scallops in a clammy curry sauce...YUM!!
The tropical ice tea is great too. Comes with syrup on the side (the best way to have tea).
Parking: If you're coming for lunch, you better get to the underground lot (entrance on second st.) before 11:30 or there won't be any parking!! Dinner time is always going to be a pain. They validate, so you might want to skip the meters and spend the few dollars you save getting brown rice or extra curry!!
Another one of the overrated JPN places -all I can tell you is that they are owned and run by House Foods; they make curry packets that you see in JPN grocery stores. That's what they use. It's like going to an Italian joint that uses Newman's Own. Go figure.
If it was cheaper, or when I have no other option I might go and get their daily special, but it'd never be my 1st choice.
Still my favorite Japanese Curry place. If you know of better please compliment me or PM me so I can try. I don't claim to be an expert in Japanese curry so keep that in mind. I have been here a few times and like what I have ordered each time particularly the last time with beef and soft boiled egg. I swear I downed the plate in about 5 minutes and was thankful there wasn't more or I would have been more bloated. I will be back for sure.

Best Japanese Curry that I have had....yummy
This is probably my favourite restaurant in the Little Tokyo area. I've been here several times, and each time I leave full, satisfied, and looking forward to the next visit.
I've only tried the chicken curry, but it's amazing. For $10, the portions are enormous. It comes with a little salad on the side and a full plate of rice, with the curry on the side. Make sure you eat it with the pickled radish (at least, I think that's what the red stuff is). There's usual seating, even when it's busy, and the waiters are generally attentive and courteous. Don't forget to get validation -- it will give you free parking in the lot under the plaza.
I came here this week for an early dinner with a friend and it was pretty empty compared to the other times I'd been. It's a pretty big restaurant, and their menu has something for everybody.
I wanted to try something new so I got the tofu and ground chicken curry with garlic spinach rice, which was pretty dang good...my friend ordered the curry katsu which I tried and it was good but not spectacular. Our bill was like $24 including tax, which isn't too bad for the amount of food we got and its quality.
Parking in the garage below is validated, so acessibility is great. I don't really know about how authentic the food is here, but if youre hungry and want some good curry then this place fits nicely =)
The first time I had katsu curry was in Hawaii. I got hooked eversince.
Everytime I have a curry craving, this is where I go to. I get the chicken katsu curry, hot - used to get it mild but I could tolerate a bit more spice. (only Koreans will say mild but is really hot!) lol.
I love that they have that little kiosk on the 1st floor by Marukai out now, that serves lunch to go!
Just had lunch at Curry House today and I have to say I was a little disappointed. I remember my first time at Curry House (probably about a year ago), I thought it was really flavorful and great. So either my memory is a little off or the quality of the curry has changed.
I ordered the medium spicy pork katsu. While the katsu was breaded and fried very nicely (not too dry or greasy), the actual curry was not as flavorful as I would have liked. I even tried other people's spicy curry and was surprised at how NOT spicy it was. One of my favorite aspects of Curry House is the pickled stuff they have on the tables. Yummy.
The cost is ok since the portions are pretty large but I may be on the lookout for a new curry spot unless they spice up the curry some more. So...3 stars...maybe it will improve?
I remember how I used to frequently go to this Curry House because I was part of a pack of Filipino's who didn't grow-up eating Japanese curry like I did. So that means, they loved to frequent this place for whatever reason.... I'm hoping in hopes of spotting some hot Japanese girls, but I assume it's also a welcome break from lumpia, lechon, or adobo.
Now, if you're an honorary Japanese person, than you'll most likely eat a LOT of curry. Maybe not as much as the cast of Slumdog Millionaire, but a lot. You'll also most likely not be eating it at a restaurant, and instead you'll prepare it at home because a pack of Japanese curry is only about $3. There's also several brands, but the most popular is S&B or House brand (Curry House). It's also the most common one you'll usually find at your local Asian grocery stores, and of course at Japanese markets like Mitsuwa or Marukai. If you don't have one of the two, the "Oriental" aisle at most major grocery stores will have it (the aisle you'll find me hanging out in on a Saturday night). So before you decide to hit-up a Curry House, I should remind you that making it from scratch is just as good or even better.
I really don't think Curry House is all that great, and in fact my only memory of this place isn't really about the food. It's actually of a time that I was hanging out front, and some Asian female came up to us for some reason. It turns out, she was the girl on the poster of some indie movie advertised in the plaza, but the reason I remember this is because during her random chatter, all I could do was stare at her LAZY EYE!... well, the one eye that was looking at me. The other eye was like a chameleon eye, and it was off looking at something else (like a married guy at the beach with his wife). This could have been distracting, but I just pictured that this is what it must be like to talk to Lucy Liu cuz she also has some serious lazy eye. So Curry House, Jtown, and lazy eye all go hand'n'hand.
About Curry House in general, I'd liken it to a Japanese Denny's, and I'd typically not go out of my way to go to this place. In fact any curry joint, but instead I'll stick to the packaged kind, so unless I'm watching Kill Bill, tired of eating sisig, or watching the animal channel on chameleons, I highly doubt I'll get the urge to eat at Curry House.
Definitely a fan of this spot. Every time the girl and i need a curry fix we never hesitate to drive up the street to grub. I'm pretty plane jane and just get the chicken katsu curry which can never fail and the gf gets the keema which is the absolute shit also. we HAVE to get it extra spicy with a side of the spicy curry oil since the extra spicy isnt that hot.
iced green tea is a definite plus as well.
My sister keeps telling me to come to this place. Personally, I don't see what's special about it. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing?
I ordered the Omelet Rice thing. I wish it had more meat sauce next to it. It had some egg and a ton of rice. After awhile, the rice just became a chore to eat and I had nothing to eat it with.
I've been to the Curry House in SD and there I got the Chicken Katsu Curry which I also thought was okay. I've never tried that dish at the LA location. Maybe it is a lot better?
Parking kind of sucks but it seems like every time I come here, I am always lucky to find a parking spot. Never needed to have the parking attendants park my car for me. Those guys seem pretty nice, but I'm supposed to be reviewing the restaurant aren't I?
I went at about 1PM. There was no wait and the food came out pretty quickly. Service was good.
Wish I could remember what was in the Omelet Rice... other than rice wrapped in egg with meat sauce on the side. There was some chicken, I think, and veggies...
I'm still not sure if I'm a fan of the place or not. I've been coming here now & then... usually when one of my entourage is craving for some curry. But I'll say that I like the place enough to not mind coming here.
Sometimes I think that I'm a picky eater but usually I'm not. I like food & I enjoy good food. I wouldn't say this place is to die for but I'm still trying to figure out why everyone thinks it's the best curry house in LA. Maybe it is... but I wouldn't call it the best personally... just because I haven't been to all the curry places in LA or in CA. The one complaint I have about this place is their slow waiter... one in particular. The past two times I went here. The same waiter has waited on my friends & I. I'll give him benefit of the doubt that he's new so it explains why he can be so slow. The both time he waited on us, we only saw him when he took our orders. He didn't come back to refill our drinks or check up on us.
But there's that other nice friendly older waiter. For some reason he always noticed when we need something @ our table. Too bad I don't know his name but I can only hope that he'll wait on us next time we're there :)
Their curry dishes are good enough & satisfying enough. Japanese curry is different than any other Asian curry cuz it's sweeter. Again, not spicy enough for me. I eat too much spicy food... lol. The place is clean too so I like that. Some of the dishes I thought were a bit overpriced but that's just me. But the place is good enough for me to keep coming though :)
I enjoyed my food. Maybe not THE best, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I liked the sphagetti cuz it wasn't greasy and I enjoyed my curry w/ brown rice. It felt light which I love when I'm trying to stay fit or at least eat a bit healthier:)
I have my days craving for Curry House.
Parking is convenient. Either in the parking structure or on the streets.
its free if you get it validated if you eat here.
Located on the second floor and always busy!
Cute little restaurant.
The beef curry extra spicy is my favorite.
After today, I really wanted to give this place 3 stars but my overall dining experience here has been a positive one so I'm giving Curry House the benefit of the doubt.
Curry House is just the go-to place if you can't really pinpoint what you're craving but know that you want a good, quick, and decently-priced meal. It always hits the spot when my bf and I are hungry and just want to grab a bite down the street from our place. Portion sizes here are HUGE (we like to nibble from small portions) so you can definitely bring home another meal. Sadly, my bf and I eat with our eyes and always devour everything on our plates.
Things I always like to order:
- Tofu & Ground Chicken Curry
- Hamburger Curry
- Cafe au Lait
Things I want to try:
- Meatball Spaghetti... (the bf loves this and I finally tried their meat sauce sans the meatballs today and it tasted rather bland but I'll definitely give it another shot)
Plus, parking is easy because they validate so it's a good place to turn to when you want to grab a quick bite.
When you're craving Japanese style curry in LA, there is one place that flies higher than the rest. Curry House is that place. Curry House offers all the "Bear Necessities" of a good Japanese Curry restaurant.
First of all, the parking spots in the garage are relatively tiny. Parking in a spot can sometime be more difficult that piloting the Sea Duck past the cliff of air-guns to reach Cape Suzette. Aside from the parking situation (don't forget to validate), the restaurant is nicely decorated, clean, and the tables and seats are nicely spaced out. The place is spacious enough to seat the entire "Higher for Hire" crew, and then some. The restaurant is located in a plaza with many little stores to visit after eating. (Just keep an eye on how much time you have left for parking)
The wait staff has always been nice and polite. The service is always exceptionally fast and they keep the drinks flowing like "Louie's Place." I've never had a problem getting a refill on my drink, even up to 4 times. (it was a really hot day)
Overall, the food at Curry house is delicious. I've tried many of the curry dishes here and I can honestly say that they're all tasty. Whether you get beef, chicken, seafood, or veggie curry, and pair it with white rice, brown rice, pilaf, or spaghetti; you will not be disappointed. In my opinion, the best dishes are any of the katsu dishes or the fried shrimp. The cooks in this kitchen have more skills than Kit Cloudkicker on a cloud surfing board. One thing to note is that their curry is not THAT spicy (even the spiciest level). Although this may disappoint some, I, personally, appreciate the level of spice in their food.
If you come to this Curry House to eat, I strongly suggest that you try their iced green tea. The iced tea totes a subtle, yet refreshing green tea taste and comes with syrup that allows you to customize the the sweetness of your drink.
The only downside of Curry House comes only after all of that delicious curry is sitting in your tummy. One look at the bill and it feels like you've been plundered by Don Karnage and his band of air pirates. (Ok, that's an exaggeration) Don't get me wrong, the food is not grossly overpriced, but the fact is that the same company that owns this restaurant manufacturers little $3 packets that allow you to cook up a batch of their curry in the comfort of your own home. At 8-10 dollars a plate, Curry House must be making Shere Khan style profits. However, despite the slight mark-up, Curry House remains a decent place to eat. (It would be perfect if the dishes were 1-2 dollar cheaper)
If you're in the LA area and a fan of Japanese style curry, there are few places that provide as great of a curry-eating experience as Curry House. Fly over to Curry House and try their curry when you get a chance. You'll be glad you did. But don't take my word for it. Dun-Dun Dunt! (Reading Rainbow sound)
"Hold on, Little Britches"
I looooove Curry House! Whenever I find myself in Los Angeles, quite often, I always make sure I have my fill of Curry House at least once.
I normally order:
- Hamburger Curry [seriously the best!]
- Corn pottage soup [Mmm!]
- Calpico [best with curry!]
- Stone Rice Bowl thing [at the Torrance's location]
The Curry House chain is sooo amazing. I've been to about three of their locations and they're always so nice and friendly. Such a delicious meal is always great with company. And there's nothing better than great Japanese-style curry.
I've been meaning to try that Curry Pan/Bun. Must. Try. It!!!
Curry House when it opened was spetacular.. I went recently.. and found it now to be just OK.. ordered Katsu Kare.. Pork cutlet with Curry sauce over rice.. I asked for HOT.. the order came.. The curry did not even get me to perspire one drop on my forehead.. come on!!!.. The other big change I noticed.. they used to provide Rakyo. or pickled garlic bulbs.. They dont put this out as part of the condiments.. In Japan this is standard with red ginger and fukujinzuke.. The restaurants are owned by House Foods. a very large food company that specializes in Curry Paste packages... If the restaurants are meant to promote the curry sauces.. its not doing its job!. The LACK of competition makes this Curry House mediocre..
The restaurant is always full.... I guess why bother to improve..
I recommend their hotdog and spinach dish, kinda expensive for a few pieces of hotdogs but really goes well w/ curry and rice.
yummy! we went for a fast dinner on a Friday night. We were seated quickly and our orders came out quickly.
In addition to curry, they have other noodle (spaghetti -- japanese style) dishes. I ordered a mushroom and daikon sprout spaghetti which was very good.
My friends ordered the sea food gratin over rice and also the katsu chicken curry. Both were good.
We also ordered dessert of the tofu cheesecake which was yummy and the coffee jelly which was like a shot of espresso jello -- very bitter, but it came with a side of simple syrup and milk.
All in all it was a very good meal with drinks, main dishes and dessert it was about $50 with a tip for 3. Not a bad deal and it was a good, fast dinner -- the only drawback was that it, like every other restaurant in LA, is that it is located in a shopping center.
I like Curry House. While, yes, it is a chain, there's something comforting about knowing how it exactly taste like and I always expect it to be piping hot, spicy & good.
I had a dreaded jury duty today and happily for me, the LA courthouse is only a 10 minute (or less!) walk from Little Tokyo. Since I get free parking, why not take an adventure around my favorite place in Downtown LA?
I was planning on going to Suehiro for some curry goodness, but then I realized that Curry House has 1) A SUPER delicious corn soup and 2) SUPER crunchy and yummy potato croquette. How the hell can you NOT go wrong with crunchy croquettes slathered in Japanese-style curry sauce.
For about $20, I got a complete meal of keema (ground beef curry with a soft boiled egg) topped with a croquette with a side salad, side corn coup and a iced green tea. Super delicious meal.
Keema came out piping hot not to spicy (though I wouldn't mind more) and the egg was perfectly cooked & still a little gooey. The keema doesn't come on the side like their other curries, it's all on top of the rice. Admittedly, the rice could've been better & not so stuck together, but the star of the dish was the keema so I didn't mind as much.
The croquette was crunchy and with the keema, rice & soft boiled egg, it was a great combination of flavors and, especially, texture.
Their iced green tea was also surprisingly delicious. I usually expect iced green tea to have very little flavor, but it really taste like someone had some matcha powder and created this very refreshing, sweetened drink. It was nice.
Also, the servers here seem really used to the Downtown LA weekday lunch hour. The plates come out fast enough that I still had enough time to eat and look around Kinokuniya before heading back to the courthouse. All super nice and accomodating. Plates get cleared out and check comes back to you quickly.
Underrated place, but still good quality stuff.
I went to Curry House for lunch with some friends as one of them was craving for Japanese curry. I decided to try their special, Seafood Jambalaya with the extra hot curry. I been to this Curry House many times, and I normally get the pork katsu with hot curry, but curry would just be barley hot, so on the Jambalaya I ordered it with extra hot curry, not expecting too much hotter. Wow I was wrong, after the first taste I knew this is not your ordinary Curry House curry. Being brought up in an Asian family and lectured many times for not finishing my food, and like a good girl that I am ; ) I still managed to finish the dish and maintained my composure...I had to finished all the rice (as I normally would hardly touch the rice) and 3 glasses full of their ice tea trying to tame the flame in my mouth. As far as the Jambalaya, it was good like I expected from them, it comes with shrimp, squid, scallop, clam, hot dog, carrot, and celery. I'm sure there are other stuff in it, but my mouth was kind of numb and could not taste them. I would probably order it again next time, but with the regular hot curry.
For some reason the service was very slow today, after they seated us it took a while for them to take our order, we had to actually let them know that we were ready to order. And same thing for our check, we had to ask for it. Maybe they are short staffed today. I would of give them four stars, but because of the slow service three stars is my final answer.
Oh yea, I had to make a quick stop at the little girl's room on the way out. Everything went fine no review on this part is necessary ; )
Nom nom nom...hmm...Japanese curry, what's not to love? :D
Conveniently located in Little Tokyo, on the 2nd level of the shopping plaza. Be warned though, parking can be a pain here...but one taste of their curry, makes it all worth it! Simply decorated like the typical curry houses back in Japan with an extensive menu of all sorts of curry goodies imaginable!
My personal favorite is their Menchi Katsu (their famous beef hamburger cutlet) curry - comes with white rice and salad. Add an extra $1 for brown rice, pilaf or spaghetti. The katsu is made *just* right here...so many places blotch it up...but not here. The katsu is nice & crispy on the outside but the meat is nice & tender still. Delicious! Combine with their well-flavored curry sauce, you really can't go wrong with spending your $10.85 here! Decent portions for most but huge for me since I usually can't finish my dish so you definitely get your money's worth!
This is a must for me whenever I'm in LA, when you're done...check out Yogurtland for some dessert (located in the same plaza!). :D
Japanese curry = Indian curry blended with meat
BUt its DELICIOUS!
I love eating here and at the other location in Irvine in Orange County. The servers are always really friendly and don't rush you in your ordering. I brought a friend who has never eaten here before but trusted my intentions. She asked the server for her opinion and was able to make a decision really fast.
I always just get chicken curry or chicken katsu curry, SPICY. I'm Indian, so I have a high threshold for spice intake, but this "spicy" really ISNT spicy... The Japanese have their own levels on what is and what isn't spicy.
I also ask for the red radish and mix it with my curry and chicken
*Helpful tip* DONT eat all of it! I know its AMAZING... but if you save half and let it marinate in the curry/hot oil(that you can ask for on the side) and radish... its 5x better!
Enjoy!
Really more like a 3.5.
I've had Curry House in Industry a few times before, but thought it was nothing special. I was told by a few people that I had to try Curry House of L.A as it is much better.
This location is slightly better than the one in east sgv, but not by much. This is not saying the curry is not good, because it's just fine. I think the curry sets are a pretty good deal, at around $8. I normally have curry leftover, so getting the set suits me perfectly. It has just the right amount of rice and curry, and I like the cup of corn soup, even though it's not great by any means. I just like corn soup! It comes with a salad and 2 fried shrimps too.
I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this Curry House over the Industry one. Assuming I was coming from home, that is.
Good lunch spot for downtowners. Their staff is really nice.
Okay, now this is my gripe with my visit to the Curry House this past Sunday. I ordered their Menchi Katsu Curry, which is their famous beef hamburger cutlet with curry sauce and a salad.
Being that I'm an advent cooker and know the secret lil ingredients here and there for various dishes, I will say this: The beef patty was cut with tofu and Japanese bread crumbs. It was like having a soy burger, which I don't mind, if I ORDER a soy burger. Ya feel me? There was no real beef taste to my patty . . . Ugh!
The curry was not as flavorful as I recalled it to be at their WLA location, it lacked a kick, and although I ordered it "hot," it was NOT! It was bland and I had to add salt to my dish, which is rare for me . . . and although I appreciate a place that doesn't over salt their food, but this was ridiculously bland.
I was NOT impressed with their tasteless curry, therefore, I will continue to make it at home, wherein I can guarantee the taste and quality . . .
On the positive side: The waitress / staff were very attentive and fast to fill your tea cup.
No offense mom, but Curry House tops your curry.
I ordered the typical Chicken Katsu (spicy) with brown rice. The strips of chicken were perfectly breaded topped with curry that was bursting with spices of flavor-although it could have been spicier. The portion was generous with a pile of curry off to the side and 8 or so pieces of katsu with salad/rice. The tropical iced tea is a must! They give unlimited refills and syrup so that your tea can be as sweet as you want.
The restaurant itself is very clean and cute with iKEA like furniture and light fixtures. Reasonably priced for the amount of food they give you. If you don't want to smell like curry after leaving a restaurant, this is the place to go!
Curry house. Delicious. Very good portions. Tropical Ice Tea is Bomb. The gay waitor they have is cool too.
Very convenient location in the heart of Little Tokyo (love it here!). The food taste exactly like the house brand curry which I can actually make myself at home. The service is decent and the location seem very clean and tidy. Tad bit expensive for curry on rice though I'd opt to go elsewhere if I'm craving curry.
Food: 3

I have been eating here for a while and the main reason is its the closest thing to my grandpa's curry that I could find. Its tastes very home made and make's me feel nostalgic.
The portion size is good and the price is average, they can seat a party of 18 no problem!
OK... I'm going to try to be cute and say, "ME LIKEY!"
I really adore this place. I've frequented this little place since high school, which is approximately 8 or 9 years ago. isn't that crazy, that's a freakin' long time if you ask me. However, whenever anyone brings this place up, all I can think about are fond memories!
I absolutely love their katsu dish. Its the perfect amount. Katsu on top, curry and rice with a side of salad. I think pork katsu is the best but chicken is good too! I sometimes get the chicken curry which is absolutely yummy. I always order the spiciest but it's not spicy at all. I like the iced green tea they serve.
I've never tried their pasta and I don't think I ever want to. You come here for the curry, not pasta!
I'll definitely be visiting again!
I love Curry House. The restaurant is relatively spacious, so it's always a good choice for a big group. The portions are pretty large. Guaranteed to fill you up.
My favorite is the OMURICE. Not very many places have this dish and I love it! Rice pilaf wrapped in egg. Especially good with curry.
I definitely love coming here when I feel like curry.
"Curry House is like sex with my husband- knocks me out and leaves me wanting more."
We drove out to little Tokyo craving ramen but our usual spot had it's usual line of hungry customers. Suprisingly even on a early weekday morning. We decided to venture out for another place that served ramen. Off to the plaza!
Before even turning into the plaza the smell of curry lured us in. As we turned almost immediately my husband said, " I want that" pointing upward to Curry House. Ramen what??
Boy I thought my curry was good even my husband swears by it but CH does not disappoint. We both ordered chicken katsu curry and devoured it within minutes. Thank goodness service was speedy because we were soooo hungry. The chicken was very moist and the breading crisp and not soggy at all. No rubbery chicken here ;).
While prices are up a bit for the amount of food (one butterflied panko crusted chicken breast, side salad and rice) you will leave totally satisfied.
