10 reviews for Curious Heart Emporium
Sometimes when I'm in Berry Hill, I have to stop and just look around the place. It is a knickknack queen's heaven. The place is bright yellow and covered in unique lawn ornaments, so it's pretty much impossible to miss this place.
They have quite and eclectic assortment of cards, wall hangings, ornaments, night lights, and upon my last visit, Christmas decor. I found some reindeer socks I had to have, which elicited an eye roll from the husband. Of course, not everyone gets the humor of Curious Heart, but some do. They have anatomy lesson figures in frog and dolphin shapes, and action figures of cat ladies. If you're into funny gifts, I'd say this is a definite stop for you.
In a back room they keep Christmas stuff, lawn ornaments and metal sculptures, which are really fun. I believe there was a lizard with a bike chain spine. You can also get magnetized finger puppets of heroes like Hemingway and Jesus, and don't forget your random plastic pigs.
Even if you don't plan on buying anything, the place is a fun stop for friends to pal around and look at all the goofy things they sell. They do have parking in the back, made clear with painted car signs which are super cute.
This definitely is a Nashville headquarters for quirky gifts, but so much of it borders on "you've seen one, you've seen them all." Some of it I thought was fairly overpriced, like the selection of $7 bars of soap. OK, they smell good, but man I can buy two for that price from Crabtree and Evelyn.
Sadly, I think the coolest things on the property are actually outside the store, and one you are inside you might be in for a let down.
This is THE emporium of quirky gifts, garden goods, and overall nonsense. And it's such a fun place to visit! From the minute you pull up to the colorful yard sculptures, you know you are in for a treat.
It's almost sensory overload once you walk inside. I kid you not when I tell you that anything you see at another gift store is probably here. Notepads, monogrammed bags, funny magnets, funky baby gear, garden gnomes, Christmas ornaments, you name it.
Prices are pretty reasonable too, and they will gift wrap. Visit this gem on your way to picking up a burrito at Baja and you'll leave a happier person, I promise!
If you absolutely need a librarian action figure or perhaps a St. Anthony blessed (patron saint of lost things) luggage tag, here you will find such things. There are also George W. Bush voodoo dolls, fortune telling baby onesies (they are wrapped up and you open them to find out what your baby will be when it grows up), funny, irreverent fridge magnets, air fresheners ranging from crude to pseudo-holy, and other much needed items. Here you will find gifts for people who have everything.
There is also a room full of Christmas ornaments, so if your a cheesy Christmas ornament collector like me, this is collector's gold, and it remains Christmassy all year round.
Curious Heart Emporium is the kind of idiosyncratic (G-rated) toy store for big kids that I could've spent hours in as a teenager. I guess I thought that maybe I would find my true identity among all those miniature glass animals, sparkly journals, modern stationary, sarcastic magnets, and jokey sticky notes.
I thought the prices were reasonable ($3 for a change purse, $16 for a pack of stationary...), especially compared with similar stores I've visited in the past. In addition to all the accessories, Curious Heart has a porch out back full of wind chimes and garden ornaments, and a room dedicated to Christmas decorations year-round.
Personally, I'd rather get rid of stuff than acquire it, so I probably wouldn't shop at Curious Heart Emporium for myself. But if I needed a gift for a teenager, or was looking for a few small, unique items to put in a gift basket or put in a package to an out-of-town friend, Curious Heart Emporium would be the place to go.
The store is located in the funky Berry Hill neighborhood (which is technically not part of Nashville, although it's surrounded by the city on all sides). It's crammed with wonderfully-whimsical/-wacky stuff. The owner is quite friendly and she has a terrific sense of humor, so we had a great time there. They also have a second location at the Loveless Café.
Any trip to Curious Heart is quite an adventure. You can't miss the place. When you pull up it's the one with the giant colorful statues littering the yard. It's a great place to find fun gifts for yourself or friends. Their merchandise ranges from local artist wares to classic funny gifts like the Virgin/Whore line of beauty products. There are items for your garden, your bookshelf, and your self. Even if you aren't willing to pay the prices for kitsch you can have a great afternoon in Curious Heart playing with all the strange little toys inside. Just don't bring a big purse because the aisles are small and littered with the fragile and expensive.
Curious Heart Emporium is just that, a playfully decorated, well designed emporium of stuff in Nashville's wonderfully quaint Berry Hill neighborhood.
Lots of trinkets here from home decor to flowers to books to wall-art to religious memorabilia to humorous gifts.
I like to think of it as a boyfriend, son, husband, brother friendly place that is full of gifts for the ladies. Lots of stuff here that anyone would love, but most of it is female-centric, without being overwhelming for awkward for dudes to pour through.
A longtime staple in Nashville gift shopping! The Curious Heart has been located in Berry Hill for ages, it seems, and always offers a great option to find a birthday gift for a friend. The gifts are mostly on the lower price end, which is a great alternative to some of the higher priced stores in Hillsboro Village. They also have a Christmas shop in the back that is open all year long! A lot of the gifts are humorous, and yet some are for the kid in all of us, and then others fun & modern home accessories. Definitely a good bet when you are looking for a gift for that hard-to-buy-for friend or family member. The front yard is decorated in a super fun way, so you can't miss it once you turn onto Bransford!
Need a present for the person that already has everything? This is the place to go. Cute and unusual gifts and home wears. And also a year round room of Christmas ornaments. You can't miss this place. Just follow the spaceships for parking.
