Yummmmmmmmmmm. As some of my other reviews mention, I consider myself a connoisseur of French Toast, with my Grandma Freda's and Fred's (in Sausalito) sending me into comatose euphoria.  After hearing all the hype of Curbside's bourbon French Toast, I had to check it out - and I'm so glad I did.  It's not Fred's, but it's a whole heck of a lot healthier.  (No ice cream batter and deep frying).  I also tried the crab eggs benedict, and it was the bomb!  Normally, I get nauseous half way through with the amount of hollandaise sauce and the greasy mess of the crab, but Curbside uses fresh crab meat (vs. a cake) and just a smidgen of hollandaise sauce - enough to give you a yummy taste, but not overwhelming.

A little tip - you don't have to wait on the list if you want to sit inside.  Just grab an open table.

If you want to sit outside with your dog on a sunny Saturday afternoon and eat mediocre food don't come here.  Eat at my apartment instead.  I'm a horrible cook!  And you won't have to wait over 30 minutes to be seated.  I can drag some chairs out on my back deck next to the garbage bins and dead plants.  I can make shitty fish and chips.  And my chicken sandwich is just as bland as theirs.  So come to my apartment and pay me to cook for you.
("cook for you" may also mean "assassinate somebody", "have sex with you", "pole dance", or "groom your dog" depending on certain height/weight requirements and a nominal extra fee.)

The service at Curbside is almost non-existent.  The host was very nice so an extra star for him, but nothing was re-filled and we had to ask for our check.  If we hadn't stolen a piece of bacon from a dirty plate next to us to feed to Sandy, she would have been quite upset and probably would have asked to speak to one of the managers.  Instead, she gobbled up the bacon and threatened to pee on the bed if we ever take her back there.

I came here on a sunny Sunday morning after crashing at my friend's house in the Presidio.  I had a night of rough sleep, with some kind of metal pole from a hide-a-bed sticking in my back all night.  I needed some help in the form of delicious breakfast to soothe my stomach and my soul.

They didn't have seating inside for our large party inside, so we sat outside.  Being that it was a nice day this wasn't so bad, just a bit sunny :)

This was the first time I ordered chorizo and eggs, (recommended to me by Nick G)  but it would not be the last.  This first experience opened up a on-off relationship that would last for years to come, god I love chorizo and eggs.

After a night of rotten sleep, breakfast at Curbside Too is an excellent pick me up.

My lovely friend and I built up an appetite from our 3 hour hike at Mt. Tam. Initially, we thought we might try eating at the bar at the Presidio Social Club hoping they wouldn't notice that we were covered in dirt and sweat and wearing sport tops and shorts. We did a drive by and reconsidered, so instead we went to Curbside Too, located just outside the Presidio's Lombard Gate.

The small French bistro was empty so we sat at a booth inside because all the tables outside were a bit off kilter. Plus there was a funky stench coming from a drain nearby. We had the whole place to ourselves so it felt like private dining.

We decided to order 4 dishes to share: the salad du jour, scallops in puff pastry, crabcakes, and escargots. Our sweet French server had each dish plated for two which made things so easy for us. The flavors of each dish were very rich and a bit overpowering, so the food was ok. My friend had a huge glass of wine which was about 10 ounces, so she really enjoyed that.

Overall, we had a very pleasant meal. Nothing beats excellent personal service, plus they were completely accepting to our scrubby appearances.

After a two-hour shopping marathon at the Sports Basement in the Presidio, I was hungry for some chow.  Me and fellow Yelpers Cindy K. and Euge L. headed to this tiny little cafe right across from the Presidio's Lombard Gate.  It was practically empty and kind of lackluster.  I had chilaquiles, Cindy had a BLT, and Euge had a couple of chicken apple sausages and a couple of glasses of Chimay :)

The service was really, um...nothing special.  The food was ok.  I will have to come back again and try some of their more French menu items.

It's a 3.5 star place. 1.5 star less for the price point. I think $10 and up for sandwich plates are ridiculous.

I love the fact that our new SF apartment has so many of these corner bistros within 3 min walk. We decided to stop by here before we head towards to "hanami" at a park on Presidio Blvd. It was cool for us to be able to still see Japanese cherry flowers in full blossom in SF, because too hot LA trees all lost the flowers and only have the leaves now.

Tiny place, small uninteresting over priced menu. But still we managed to order, and my man got the Steak sandwich and me the quiche of the day. They were really good. But if we pay $10 a plate, we expect nothing less.

The Chorizo and Eggs is excellent. After about 2 dozen times here, and I still haven't ordered anything else. Although I have heard less than rave reviews of the Spinach-Brie Omelette.
Because the seating is quite limited inside, they have a seating outside on the street. Although, because its located directly on Lombard, the cars can be a little annoying. All in all though, this is a great place for breakfast.

Man my friend Kara was gonna treat me to breakfast/brunch since she had to crash out at my place this past weekend after Julie's awesome Durty 30 party so we went out there and it was like "look, great parking!" but then we realized why after we saw like four spots this morning all within 25 feet of the entrance.  The old Curbside Too was no longer there and it's now a taqueria.

Now I love my mexican cuisine but Curbside Too was in a great spot, nice for brunch and the outside section was a bonus as well.  But alas we decided to eat anyhow, and it just wasn't the same... sigh

They turned this place into a Taqueria. Why would they do this?! It was such a great place, always packed. I tried to take some friends there for brunch and realized it was a Taqueria. The once bustling restaurant is now an empty taqueria. So disappointing.

I would have given this place 4.5 stars if it were still brunch.

Best darned BLT sammy in the state of California.

Normally I'd dock a point b/c the service sucks, however, being an ex-server, I know that outdoor seating is hard to manage- I don't know anyplace with fantastic outdoor service. I only go to Curbside to sit curb side so I expect the service to be, well.... adequate. Get my drift?

Go with an openmind, order the BLT and just enjoy it!

After walking by Curbside for over a year, I thought it was finally time to give it a try. When my friends asked where to do brunch on Saturday, I suggested Curbside and it was settled.

We were seated outside right away. The tiny cafe only has a handful of tables out front and a tiny interior. You could not pay me to sit inside, however, because the ventilation is non-existent. I stepped in to grab a menu and was engulfed in the delicious aroma of burgers grilling. Don't get me wrong, I love the scent - I just don't want to smell like my brunch for the rest of the day.

Curbside has a small menu, but it looks like they do it up right. I ordered the BLT with avocado. While I do agree that you can't really F*up a BLT, you can make it extremely delicious and that's just what they did. They used an amazing bread that was somewhere in between a baguette and ciabatta bread. The inside was layered w/ bacon (a little too salty), fresh lettuce and tomatoes and generous heaps of avo. The fries were thin shoestring and cooked just right. My friends ordered two different ommies and they looked amazing. Served with home fries and grilled baguette slices. This was just what we were looking for.

The service wasn't fantastic and the prices are about average. But the appetizer menu looked intriguing. This was more like 3 1/2 stars, but I'm feeling generous, so I guess I'll be back!

A hidden gem in the Marina. I love eating here since its away from the loud crowds at the usual Marina eateries. The menu consists of french techniques with Cali simplicity leaving you with selections from omelets, sandwiches to pasta and salads.

The crab cakes I ordered were the size of burger patties and tasted fresh. The sauce they served it with had a nice spicy kick to it that brought out the flavors of the crab. I was able to get mine with scramble eggs in lieu of the salad (it tastes better than it sounds). Washed it down with a few glasses of tangy mimosas.

I got a taste of the chorizo and egg  dish and it was savory and flavorful. When they say spice sausage, they meant it! At least it turned the attention away from my friend's pounding head ache!

Nice outdoor seating area with umbrella shades if you request for one. The service is super friendly and accommodating. Clearly today he knew half of the group was still hung over so he was patient about taking the food orders.

Talk about a weekend of bad food.  Between We Be Sushi and this place, it's a miracle that my heart and digestive system didn't go on strike.

What disappoints me the most is that the old Curbside was an authentic, family-owned joint that my friends and I would often frequent on a Sunday morning for Mimosa brunch.  The beautiful outside patio perched next to the Presidio proved to be the perfect atmosphere for their tasty food.  The Huevos Rancheros were incredible.

Imagine my surprise when my friend Gene and I pulled up this past Sunday to find that a once beloved establishment had pretty much morphed into something completely unrecognizable.  The abundant parking nearby the restaurant was unusual and a telling hint of what was to come.

Cheap, plastic Hawaiian-print tablecloths adorned the tables.  The "silverware" was plastic and broke easily.  There weren't Mimosas, just your garden-variety of Mexican beers.  But the worst part of the experience was discovering just how much the quality of the food had denigrated under what I assume is new and, clearly, incompetent management.  Cheap spices and gobs of grease drowned the contents of what was once my favorite Sunday treat.

All and all, the new curbside wouldn't be out of place in a low-rent, suburban strip mall.  Truly a shame.

This is a great place to grab brunch if you want to eat outside. Despite the food being mediocre sometimes I keep coming back to enjoy the sights of the Presidio.

I have to give this place big props for actually taking the time to put in outdoor seating that I don't feel is going to collapse everytime I sit on it. I know I'm not the lightest person but I constantly find myself sitting at shoddy tables when I eat food outside. You all know what I'm talking about...the table that constantly shakes as you start putting the pressure of your knive on the plate. Curbside actually put in permanent metal benches and secured them with concrete, that effort alone is worth a star.

Their omlettes are my favorite items on the menu, I've had the huevos rancheros several times but they always seem to come out of the kitchen stone cold. I've heard great things about their french toast but have never actually eaten it myself.

This place would be five stars if:
    * they improved their coffee.
    * managed to serve their food "hot" consistently.

I ate here for dinner last night.  Me and 4 guys.  This place is tiny!  The food was okay.  I got a burger, the guys I ate with got salmon, crabcakes, and some kind of chicken.  Everything looked okay/good.  The server told us it was her first night working there (although she looked very comfortable there for her first night).  We ordered, ate, and then waited for a long time to get our check.  A really long time.  The prices are okay, the burger was $10, and was their least expensive item for dinner.  Nothing to pricey though.  All in all, I would maybe go back if I was close by, but I wouldn't make a special trip out there.

There's probably only one reason to go to this place.  But that one reason is enough to bring it up to 4 stars from 0: their bourbon baked french toast.  Crispy on the outside, melts in your mouth on the inside.  Haven't enjoyed a single other thing on their menu.  But I would go just for the french toast.

And for the cute puppies that people always have as accessories when they live in the Marina.  I love puppies.

I went for Brunch on Sunday. Got there around 10:30am and in a few minutes the inside was packed.  When we left there were a lot of people sitting on the outside tables.  I guess they get a lot of business from the near buy hotels in the area.  Good service and they are fast.

I had the Huevos Rancheros and my boyfriend had an omelet w/ Brie spinach omelet.  Both were really good. I left feeling very satisfied but not grossly stuffed.  The food isn't oily at all.

Highly recommended. I don't know what would nudge the 5th star. . . maybe if my OJ was freshly squeezed. . . but I would go back.

I liked the ambiance, the petite and very tasty french toast, and the location (minutes away from the Yoda Fountain!)

What I didn't like was the quality of chicken in my omelette. I'm not really the squeamish type -- I've certainly chewed through my fair share of kneecaps and gristle without complaint -- but halfway through my omelette, I found some viscera that still haunts me to this day. Ligamenterrific!

So, if I had to eat here again, I'd stick to the sweets and vegetarian options. Or maybe just sneak around the corner for other options.

I was in very desperate need of a Bloody Mary and some eggs Benny, so me, Pam and Eric headed to Curbside Cafe because we wanted to eat NOW and we didn't want to wait in line.  The food was OK.  I didn't get what I ordered - I mean they were eggs Benny but they had bacon and avocado WTF??? And Eric's chorizo and eggs had no chorizo.  My Bloody Mary had no booze.  When the waiter came to pick up the empty plates, he said "I know they brought you the wrong food and I was praying that you guys wouldn't call me on it."  Well, I was just too hung over to deal so I let the whole thing slide.  But really?  He knew he brought us the wrong stuff and didn't try to fix it?  Stellar.

What I recommend though, is going to breakfast with Eric on a Sunday morning!  He was too funny with the stories about all the girls he's juggling.  And that's just the girls from Saturday night!

    F this place.

My roommate and I went here about a year ago on a Saturday afternoon...I thought to myself - sit outside, enjoy the sun...have a cocktail or 12 and be done with it.

Well...long story short - they took 20 minutes to even come to our table and then informed us that they wouldnt serve booze without us ordering a meal up front.

Honestly, for all I know, the food is fantastic...but no place that treats its patrons with such contempt will ever get my business.

    UPDATE 11.30.06

Just had lunch at the California St. location and needed to Yelp about the killer cheese steak sandwich - done on a crisp and crusty baguette, served with onions sauteed in garlic. Meat was ultra-tender and juicy. Fries were absolutely perfect - crisp and well-seasoned. Arguably the best fries in town - best eaten with aioli (which you can ask for). At first, I balked at the price when I scanned the menu - $11. But you get what you pay for.

But I also soon remembered why I stopped coming - the lack of elbow room and the extra-squished seating. On the brighter side, it creates an intimate atmosphere, best enjoyed with a good friend or a partner. Place is crawling with ladies who lunch. Minus one star. I almost forgot - this was Pacific Heights.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:

I used to frequent the California St. location where they USED to serve the best Eggs Benedict - not too much lemon, rich and eggy. Then, in the succeeding years the Eggs B. have slowly and surely descended into oblivion... the eggs started getting overcooked (and despite special requests for runny yolks upon ordering; many times I'd have to send the eggs back to the kitchen TWICE).

That said, both locations have a solid menu of bistro fare - omelettes, burgers and pastas. The atmosphere is very casual yet tasteful. Grab a booth if you can. The mochas are especially good and are served in appropriately copious cups. The burgers deserve special notice and the accompanying fries are near perfect.

But beware the long lines on weekends so it's best to visit during the week.

    Shocker!!

My friend and I stopped into Curbside Too to grab a quick bite to eat on a Monday night.  While I'm used to the place being a nice stop for weekend breakfast, the restaurant had channeled a comfy French Bistro complete with table flowers, candles and nice place settings.  The service was delightful, the menu simple, the specials written by hand in cursive.  For the price this is a great place to go.

I don't care if it rains or hails - I am happy.

I am not a foodie, but I brought one here and we both liked it a lot.  We had mussels which I think are gross and ugly, but I liked them here.  We also both had chicken marsala with mashed potatoes and vegetables.  Everything was good enough for the foodie and filling enough for me.  The bill was around $47 before tip.  I was surprised how empty the place was at 8:00 on a Saturday night.  I think the new Presidio restaurants must be taking away business.

Sunday was the perfect day to breakfast outside and we decided on Curbside Too due to it's proximity to the Marina Safeway.  We were early enough that we didn't have to wait for a table and it wasn't busy, but the service was kinda crappy.  By the time we left, the line had formed.  The food was good, but nothing special.  I would be interested in trying dinner at this location.

I was very very pleasantly surprised with this resturaunt.  I had the Huevos Rancheros, the homemade ranchero sauce and the pico de gallo which really made it exceptional.  It was very light, yet really satisfying.  My boyfriend had the Chiliquiles which were also really good.  I think I found a new favorite brunch place, even though it was a bit heavy on the salt.  Best of all, it wasn't even packed, which is a BIG plus.  I will definetly check this place out for dinner.

Great food - great presentation - reasonable prices (for French food) - cool location - usually not crowded (but that might have changed with the Lucas masses in the Presidio). I have a thing for the (crab) stuffed chicken breast but have enjoyed every meal I've had there. Antoine (the owner) must have a sense of humor as the breakfast menu includes "French fries" (really good ones) as the side potato.

First off, I liked that it's a restaurant that really seems to be part of the neighborhood.  You could tell that a number of diners were regulars to the place.  The whole meal was great but I especially loved the rabbit pate and you HAVE to order the chocolate mousse for dessert.  True decadence in a dish.  Was a great evening. :)

Like losing my virginity, giving a place two stars. First time for everything.

Curbside Too for its small location and busy patronage. Had very quick seating and service. Problem was I felt rushed the whole time. Sat down, sip of water, chatted a bit with my two friends. We were asked if we were ready within two minutes. Yes, I know it is brunch, options are limited and it is easy to decide. But a little breathing room helps.

Food came out quick too, something this place does well. Standard plate of brunch food. Someone ordered Eggs Benedict, other Omlette, me French Toast. Cute. It came on small slices of bread. After we ate, we almost wanted to order more. Plates were small and not filling. When you get a side of toast or potatoes you seemingly always get to much at other places. Here they seem to be light on the portions.

Another ding for giving us the check before everyone in our party was finished. I would give this place a second chance, be nice to sit outside on a nice day. But with service this antsy I can find somewhere else REAL close.

We used to live around the corner from Curbside, and to say we were regulars doesn't begin to account for the 3 or 4 meals a week we averaged. Love the staff who would often bring out another bottle of wine and join us at closing time. My husband swears by the Huevos Rancheros and the Burger, and frequently wakes up insisting we trek cross-town to our old haunt for brunch. Oh, and I love the steak, the chicken picatta and the french toast, but beware the regular toast at brunch - they do it on the grill instead of a proper toaster.

Right round the corner from both Liverpool Lil's and Baker Street Bistro. A nice spot for an outdoors lunch on a sunny day (though the inside is nice too). Friendly service, Nice wine selection, light and tasty French-influenced menu. (One caveat, it might get swamped once George Lucas's campus opens, so hurry!)

Science has already taught us that bourbon makes everything better, and the french toast at Curbside Too is no exception.

I am a big fan of the weekend brunch menu.  They also have some pretty decent french food for dinner.  Although the restaurant is small, the outside seating is the way to go, again especially on those weekend mornings.

My hubby and I usually love curbside, quaint and comfy with decent french/american food.  However, my man said he tried to eat breakfast there last weekend and it wasn't busy and the waitstaff completely ignored him, didn't wave him to a table for a good 10-15 minutes, someone finally told him to sit at a dirty table and they never cleaned it, never offered him a menu or never asked him what he wanted for another 25 minutes.  He left in disgust.  Bad, bad, bad service is not acceptable.  Shame on you, curbside!!  The Curbside on Fillmore doesn't seem to have this problem.

When I lived in the Presidio, this was my favorite place for brunch/lunch, or French food any time of the day. All three Curbsides (there is a third in the Alliance Francaise building) can be depended upon for quality French food.

Best French Toast in the City! A great place for refueling and mimosas after a run!
