I passed Cuppa Cuppa on my way to work this morning and, intrigued by the Obama '08 sign in the window, stopped in. My 16 oz cafe au lait was huge and only $2. However, the $1.50 muffin was the worst muffin I've ever had in my life. Dry. Crumbly. Hard. I ended up tossing it, and I hate wasting food.

Goodness gracious.  I didn't expect such a dearth of positive reviews here-- because I really like Cuppa Cuppa.

I'll go anywhere as long as it isn't Starbucks...and Cuppa Cuppa gains points immediately for being tiny, cute, and having Emma Goldman quotes on the wall.

The coffee is pricier than at the bodega on the corner, sure, but it's good, strong, and hot. (Except for once-- it was cold.  My hands were so cold, though, that I didn't realize it until I got to work.  I guess it's my fault as much as Cuppa Cuppa's.)

It's nice to see a small business run and operated by one person, day in and day out.  It's kind of comforting.  I work across the street and even if Cuppa Cuppa wasn't as nice as I think it is-- I'm sure I'd go there anyway, for the sake of convenience.

The rudest and coldest small business owner I have ever met. What a shame.

I'll never buy a thing there.

you know, i really wanted this place to be my dirty little secret of amazing chai that i could get every morning on my way out the door.

I've been here twice and both times my order was screwed up, I'd ask for nonfat milk, I'd get whole milk. The chai is just like the beans chai.. so I continue my mission for the best chai in NYC and if that continues to be Starbucks, well then that's just sad.
