Please bring Culver's to Chicago!!!!
Culvers is hands down, the best fast food burger place around. If I had to choose between your standards....McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, etc.... Culver's is at the top of my list. Thier menu has a decent variety of items to pick from and the quality and portions of the food have always been good. And of course there is the custard!!! This is what separates Culvers from the others. It's hard to walk out after eating dinner without a little custard for desert. As for the Downers Grove facility, I have been to the Carole Stream, Lombard, and Addison Culver's and I think Downer's is the cleanest and is staffed with compitent employees who are freindly and helpful.
This is fast food at its unhealthiest, but also very tasty... cheese curds, frozen custard that tastes a little eggy... and butterburgers (!).
I ordered the cheese curds and a small chocolate malt, and they asked me to park just at the end of the drive-thru to wait a few minutes for my order to be completed. They were not at all busy from a glance at the parking lot and the drive-thru so I was surprised.
Everything tasted as cholesterol laden delicious as it should be though. Finger lickin' good. They even have a little outside seating area if you chose to linger and the weather's nice.
For a fast food chain this is very good. They are known for their butter burger, they also have the variations of toppings for burgers and melts (grilled reuben, Wisconsin swiss & sourdough). Very friendly and fast. Salads, chicken, fish (cod, walleye & shrimp), soups, flavor of the day frozen custards.
I LOVE Culver's -- the food is good, the custard is great and I go by just to see what the flavor of the day is(need to start riding my bike more tho if I want to keep eating it!), but the service is haphazard. This Culver's is new, the service is getting better, but if you use the drive through, I'd check the bag before I got home.
Culvers food; pretty good over all. But what's with the Amazing Shrinking Fish Sandwiches?? I like to go there because I love fish and theirs is good. Went there there the other night and ordered the walleye sandwich and was shocked to find that the fillet that in the past was so large it overlapped the bun had shrunk! Much smaller than in the past, but the price is still the same. I'm always amazed when restaurants downsize their portions and think nobody will notice. Yeah well, everybody notices! Note to ALL restaurants owners...don't screw your customers over as far as portion size is concerned; you ain't gettin' away with nuttin!!
