This is a really nice green spacious park with everything you would want as a park. There's the playground for kids to play, grass to lay on for daydreaming, picnic area for those jolly gatherings and serene walking trails.
For those less inclined to hang with nature the YMCA gym is nearby to out into the green park and people watch. If you happen to get into accidental shinanigans the El Camino hospital is nearby too.
The best perk of all is the lighted tennis courts till 11pm. The park isn't brightly lit as the rest of the park. We went around 8pm on a saturday and there were plenty of dazzling open courts to play. The court was recently resurfaced with slick white paint outlining the courts. There's even a tennis wall to practice on your own.
Company picnic and bbq
Ummm... where are those killer squirrels?
Eating lots of yummy catered food from Andy's
Some bounce housin', balloonist, face painting, caricature, and games...
The area was big, clean, and fun!
All the little kids were happy (even me)!!
We had our annual company picnic here! It was a great day to have a bbq (different salads, chicken, brisket, ribs, veggie burgers..)!! YUM!! Parking was a bit tight, but we were able to find a spot close by. I really enjoyed walking around this park and the mini hills!! Lots of friendly dogs too!
I read a lot of the reviews and was kinda scared to go to this park because of the squirrels. O_O But I actually didn't see any!
It was my first time at a park in the bay area and had a great time! Lots of families and kids!! I definitely want to come back and play some bocce!!! :D

So my mom lives walking distance from this park. It is a very SAFE area. If you go to any other park in Mountain View, I am sure you wont feel as safe walking around at night. I just recently started playing tennis here and it was great except people are so HARD CORE there they got annoyed of how badly I suck at playing.. but really not all of us can be as good as you are. Anyways, there are some seriously SNOBBY people that tend to go to Cuesta Park. That is why I gave it 1 less star.. Also, it gets pretty packed but other than that... It is a really nice park. I like how well lit the park is at night.
review on the cuesta park squirels: Did anyone else see them on the news? Vicious Cuesta Park Squirels... XD. DON'T FEED THE WILD LIFE AND IT WONT BE A PROBLEM. I can't believe it went as far as to get rid of the squirels... Leave them alone and they will MOSTLY leave you alone. They got SO used to all the people at the park feeding them that they RELY on humans to survive. It is sad. Leave the wild animals alone and they wont mistaken your childs fingers for lil' smokies.
I just hosted a Memorial Day Weekend BBQ here, and it was such a great venue. I reserved a large group BBQ area for about $50. This included lots of nice, shaded, picnic tables and a large grill. Plus, the large group area was close to the bathrooms and a field area for us to set up volleyball nets for the afternoon. The best part was, I didn't have to make the reservation far in advance; I think I called about a week and a half prior to the event and made the reservation easily.
This park is dog friendly and people friendly. There are tennis courts, volleyball courts (though these are on cement), and playground areas for the kiddos. I like that there's plenty of shade for those that want it, and plenty of open field areas for those that don't. I would definitely come back here if I were planning another BBQ or picnic in the future. The reservation people really made things easy for me. :-)
The only tennis court with walls. Really great for me as my hitting partner lives in pleasant hill.
Great park and great dog area in a grassy bowl, but dog owners beware: lately Mountain View Police ("Community Service Officers" and their brand new fleet of expensive hybrid SUVs) have been harassing dog owners here and handed out several $100+ tickets. There's real crime to investigate, but what's easier for them: hard work investigation and legwork or handing out lots of citations? Unfortunately, they're not paid for performance/crime reduction! :(
When I moved in down the street a year ago, I vowed to take up running so I could visit this park every day. And maybe also because I've always thought it would be neat to be a "runner" rather than a "sitter."
Long story short, I haven't started running. I am, however, still an excellent sitter, and Cuesta Park is a *great* park for sitting. Or lounging. Or picnicking. Or strolling.
Cuesta Park is a fun place to run around with your puppy dogs, or as the case may be, with other people's puppy dogs.
There's also tennis and walking trails and picnic areas. Feels pretty safe as well.

I had lived in Mountain View for nearly six years before I learned of Cuesta Park. I don't believe in love at first sight, but I can say that my adoration for Cuesta Park was instantaneous. I'd just graduated from high school and all of my friends were heading off in different directions for college. We met at Cuesta Park for an end of summer picnic on the grass, played with one of our accompanying canine friends, and had a fantastic carefree afternoon.
I've returned to Cuesta many times since then, often for picnics with those same girls from high school when all of us happen to be back in town. It remains a real gem in our community, perfect for social gatherings, dog walks, or a place for kids of all ages to play, and I hope that it continues to be one of our community's best assets for many years to come.
Spacious, lots of parking, play equipment for kids, tennis courts, fairly clean bathrooms. Nice tall big pine trees over the picnic area which is great for parties. However, you need to reserve these seating tables (a patrol actually came to check on us!). I think it's like $46. Double check on the park website.
Sometimes I'll go running here and if you happen to go around 4-5pm, you'll see the dogs come out to play near the hilly area.
There is plenty of green and trees.
Plenty of parking, either lot or street.
Nice place for a picnic under a tree away from the hot sun, well until the sun hits you from the otherside and you end up moving the picnic 20' over.
Large neghborhood park!
This was the first park we frequented when we moved to the South Bay 2 1/2 years ago. It has great trails for skating, bike riding, etc., especially for small children. It's not big enough for professionals, but great for families!
It has the old ghetto-style swings and picnic area that remind me of my childhood and I like. It also has an amazing updated play area with two different play structures. It has some stuff I haven't seen at other parks, like this huge spring contraption that mesmorizing for people of all ages, myself included!
There is a large open field attached that has a geocache I have searched for, but never found.
I have to minus a star for 2 reasons. The first is there is only one bathroom location. I once had to run with a young friend for a mile because that's how far we were from the bathroom. It was embarrasing for him. The other is the killer squirels. Seriously they will attack you if you have food. Makes it hard to enjoy a picnic.

Cuesta Park was one of the many things that attracted us to the neighborhood it sits in. We're lucky to live within walking distance of this lovely place. I have walked my babies through it in strollers, enjoyed the Music in the Park series, logged in many hours at the playground and my daughter has taken tennis lessons at the very well run tennis center.
There are a few things that should be noted about Cuesta Park that visitors may not be aware of:
- Food is not allowed in the playground area. This rule is in place due to a series of squirrel attacks that began occuring after years of visitors feeding the critters. The squirrels become desensitized to humans and began crawling into diaper bags under strollers and even attacking kids carrying snacks around the playground. And no, I'm not kidding about this though I wish I was.
- The bowl next to the tennis center isn't really a dog park. Although I would have liked for it to be and tried to convinced the city council to fence it and put a dog park in there, it is not a dog park. Many people make this mistake because it is a posted off leash dog training area. Ball throwing doesn't count as off leash training. My husband narrowly escaped a leash violation here once.

This is a really nice park. There is a large grassy area to lay out and read in, lots of benches, and picnic tables that can be reserved through the city for just $4 a table. Can't beat that deal. The kids play area is at one end, so if you want to enjoy a little quiet time, the far end of the park is usually pretty good for that.
This is a nice place to play bocce but beware the killer squirrels. Seriously, there are wanted posters of the squirrels and everything.
The bocce courts are the nicest free ones around (or so I'm told), and often come with a friendly Russian guy who watches your game. Friendly Russian guy (FRG) will often let you know which ball is closest so you don't have to keep trekking down to the other end of the court. You know you're doing well when he gives you a, "Not just goodt. Very goodt."

I only play tennis here, and I'm sure the rest of the park is just as nice (quite green from what I can see). Lots of courts (12 I think), well lighted (though I've heard people complain of the electrical buzzing noise when they come one, but they also complained of the lawn sprinkler noise), and very well taken care of.
Please, don't come and play here... I want to be able to walk on a court any time I want and play as long as I want.
Oh, you can reserve courts too. Best do it a few days in advance.

This place is pretty cool... well maintained courts, decent grass areas, some bocce ball courts, play areas... pretty nice park.
The tennis courts are actually managed as well... you can call in and make reservations, or you can show your DL for proof of MV residency for free time or $1/hr for lights.

Huge, spacious, beautiful, clean, a real community meeting spot. I love seeing everyone here doing their thing--and the playground is always full of families!
Cuesta is a nice, big park with a fabulous playstructure. The girls I nanny all love it and I have to drag them away every time we go there.
There are posted warnings of aggressive squirrels.
There is a dog area in this park where you can let your dog off their leash. It is a grassy flat area surrounded on three sides by steep hills, the owners that bring their dogs there are mostly responsible pet owners. A great place to take dogs to interact.
This place has one of the better tennis courts in Santa Clara County. 16 courts and the lights are on until 11PM. There even high judge seats and seating for people to watch. The courts are relatively clean but do need some surface work on some of the courts. Over all, a very nice place to hit.
I used to run through this park really late at night so I'd miss the bustle of people during the daytime. During the weekend this place is just out of hand. During the summer they have free concerts on certain weeknights which I forget but that's a pretty cool neighborhood activity. I wish it was bigger so that I could run solely in the park, but if you want to have a picnic, bbq, or just romp in nature it's a nice area.

I used to come here all the time when I was little because my parents both worked at El Camino Hospital, and now that i'm an adult, I take my kids here to play. I love the fact that the playground has two different sections, one for toddlers & a bigger one for older children. My two year old loves the toddlers playground. This park is usually pretty quiet, especially since the squirrel attacks, but I go quite often & make sure my kids don't eat in the play areas and there has never been any problems. There are even security guards that patrol the whole park regularly on foot. I often go during the week & I love it. It's a great walk!

Nice open park with 12 lighted tennis courts.
Great place to play tennis. Lights stay on till around 11pm during weeknights and there are plenty of stands for people to sit and watch.
If you don't have anyone to practice with, there are also some practice walls for tennis.

i used to like playing grass volleyball in this park. it had a flat open space with nice, lush grass. however, ground squirrels now overrun this section of the park and have made a bunch of holes all over the place.
a few weeks ago we were setting up to play volleyball and the park ranger came by to ask if we had any kids who would be playing in the playground area and, if so, to make sure they didn't have any food on them. apparently people have been leaving their coffee unattended in the playground area and crazed, caffeinated squirrels have been known to chase the little kids around for their food. beware!

I love this park and have since a child. Great place to come with the kids for a day of fun. They have a large expanse of grass to play on, the kids can skate, bike, etc on the trails, and they have a very nice play structure to keep the kids happy. This park is very well maintained and is a great place to have extended family gatherings at. My only complaint is the bathroom situation. They need restrooms closer to the play structures!
Pretty nice park with swings and slides for the kids in a nice neighborhood. Lots of people with their dogs and children with their dads on the weekends. Stay at home moms flock there during the week. There is a 'gazebo' area where you can sit at to eat while supervising your kids in the playarea. Otherwise, you can use the picnic tables on the other side, but you have to book them ahead of time if you're planning on using them between May and October (as I found out today). They're $6, which is nothing, but inconvenient if you don't know and arrive there ready to utilize the tables. Sometimes (like today), not all of them were booked so the park ranger who comes around will let you know which tables are not booked and you can use those available ones.
The first time I went to Cuesta Park I was awed. It was Fall, so the grass looked really green and fresh. The park has a great childrens' playground, areas to BBQ, and ample grass areas for any type of recreational park activities. I walk my dogs there almost every morning.
Awesome place!!! Best park in South Bay!!!!
great tennis courts, well-lighted, bathrooms, well-regulated, awesome. $9 if you don't live in mountain view, tough luck suckers.

I have memories of playing tennis here with my dad when I was a kid. I still love it for the crazy squirrels and the loops where I walk/run at times.
Cuesta park has something for everyone. Tons of open green space, paths to stroll, areas to picnic, a giant sand area, and a playground that makes me wish I were still in elementary school. It's a perfect place to escape the office complex/suburbia that is only minutes away. Be aware that it's so large that is has multiple parking lots. If you're planning to meet someone there, be sure to decide on a location. Otherwise, you may wander around for quite awhile. The only downside is an "agressive squirrel" problem. They will seriously come right up and start gnawing on your bag, so be sure to secure your food and use the animal-proof garbage bins.
