We went here for lunch today and I must warn you not to judge the place on its appearance.  It's a small restaurant without a lot of character, but the food totally made up for that.  We both finished our lunches and mine was super tasty and just the right level of spicy.

The servers were friendly and it looked like we were sitting among regulars from town - always a good sign that you have found a good place to eat.

If my memory serves me correctly, some of the world's finest restaurants have zero, nil, nada, zip, nothing (for the sake of argument) in common with Wenatchee, Washington. But in today's world, if a black man can become president, why can't the people of good ol' Wenatchee pop something other than cherries? Ahem! And or apples. Behold! I introduce you to the Cuc Tran Cafe.

This really, truly, absolutely takes the cake for best pho in the valley. There's no question of a doubt! It's my signature staple everytime I visit. I must admit, I'm not a fan of the combination dishes, because the stir-fry veggies and pan-fried noodles are unnecessary bland items. As formidable as it may sound, for that matter, I don't recommend them.

And last but not least, it's the history and family-run properties of Cuc Tran Cafe that keep bringing me back. I'd love to stay and chat, but I've got a schedule to keep.

For as much as I wanted to enjoy this meal, I was gravely disappointed.
Everything but the food was what I expected...small unassuming place, not particularly cozy or cute, just efficient. There were a couple of other tables of diners. This looked very promising, as the best pho I have ever had were from dingy little shops like this. I ordered the Vietnamese stable...Coffee with condensed milk, Combination beef pho, and a pair of spring rolls. Waiter informed me they don't have mixed meat (shrimp + pork) spring rolls (which is rather odd) so I had one pork roll and one shrimp roll.

The spring rolls came out first and signaled a bad start. Both rolls were made using incredibly thin wraps that literally fell apart as I picked them up. The shrimp roll was ok. The pork roll was a disaster. Instead of having thinly sliced and lightly salted meat inside, the roll was bloated with heavily teriaked meat chunks. I gave up after eating less than half.

Then came the pho. I expected potent broth and thinly sliced rare meat on top. No no...the broth was under-seasoned and I got these gnarly thick pieces of meat that were way overcooked (they were actually chewy!) Normally I eat all the meat in my phos because they are the best part next to the broth, but this time all I could do was stuffing myself full with the noodles just so I won't have to pick through the tasteless and poorly sliced meat.

The only saving grace to the meal was the waiter who was friendly and attentive and the coffee, which was strong and perfectly milky.

Since all I had was traditional Vietnamese dishes, I can't say much about the rest of their menu. However friends, be warned, the pho is no good (and yes I consider myself a connosseur of pho these days, after having eaten it at no fewer than 30 cities all around the US and beyond. You can't fool me with bad pho)

Better pho than I've had in many places in Seattle, and many other Asian specialities.

This is the only place that you really want to consider if you want to eat Asian food in Central Washington, besides the excellent Hungry Belly in Chelan. The owner is a Vietnamese immigrant who fled Vietnam after the war in the 1970s and settled in Wenatchee with her family.

The pho is probably the most authentic Vietnamese dish on the menu, with great broth and good-quality meat. Other items are more pan-Asian or Ameri-Asian (teriyaki, etc) but quality.

Had lunch there today.....was a to-go order so between my walk down and waiting for other customers to pay for their meal my food was ready. I ordered the shrimp curry with rice and a salad, and an eggroll on the side. The curry was good, medium is hot.....the house made dressing is a bit unusual in color and texture but was good. My only complaints are that the shrimp wasn't very tasty, as in bland, will definetly get the chicken next time and the eggroll was a poor excuse for an eggroll, especially for the price. I won't be ordering anymore eggrolls. Not a total favorite but worth a visit.

I like this place! I need to make an effort to come more often! Its a hole in the wall and its tucked in an old historical building with a future cigar shop out front. The Cuc Tran has been one of those local restaurants that have been around forever, but I always keep forgetting about this place because I don't go downtown too often.

The food was quick and hot, we tried the Pho and a noodle salad dish that I don't remember the name but they both were good! The fresh spring rolls and the regular deep fried egg rolls were OK and the vietnamese iced coffee was super strong!

Customer service was OK, there was only 1 person running the front end, that included being the waiter/cashier/bus person/etc. At times, I thought we were forgotten, but he quickly remembered when we flagged him down.

Quite possibly the best restaurant in all of Chelan and Douglas counties.  No, not just best asian restaurant, best restaurant period.

I've been a fan since they were on Mission in their old tiny spot.  Currently they're at an only slightly larger tiny space in the Doneen building.  Great bang for your buck.  Fresh everything, big flavor, friendly faces everywhere you look.

Cha Gio like my friend's mom used to make.  The Lemongrass Pork combo meal is out of this world.

A must every time I'm back on that side of the pass.

You know, I love Pho. I love Asian food in general and eat a ton of it. Being someone that hates the fact the most Central and Eastern Washington Towns have pretty lowly asian food outside of a Americanized Chinese Restaurant here and there, it was a great pleasure to eat at Cuc Tran.
The portions are big, and the prices are right considering you will be stuffing yourself. Cuc the owner is very friendly and talks it up with the patrons. I will surely be back for some more Pho and other asian delights.

This place is the bomb!  In downtown so parking is a little tough but definitely worth the trouble.  I would have to say the best asian food in Wenatchee.

Very good, but the ambience was not great. This was my first time so with all the other 4stars I might move it up a notch after another visit....The staff are awesome! very friendly. However, they must have been training a new guy in the kitchen and there was a little bit of awkward yelling going on. Overall though, the food was good and the waiters were friendly.

I only had the Pho, which I consider myself to be a borderline connoisseur of. After reading the reviews on here I was quite ecstatic to try. My first attempt was on a Sunday, the day most all of Wenatchee's dining establishments close. I tried once again on a Monday, after the closed sign on a Sunday, my hopes were even higher...building with anticipation,  BUT.. this place missed the mark, Big time- will probably try again and steer clear of the "Pho".

Little cafe style restaurant with home cooked food. Owner cooks the food. So delicious and unique. Very reasonably priced. A true entreprenuer, the owner a vietnam imigrant named Cuc Tran. A lot of love and care goes into her dishes. The best in Wenatchee. Go here for oriental cuisine, nothing else compares.
