We decided to go to Bolder CO and visit The University of Colorado where Coach Prime is over the football team and get my nephew a TShirt and cap. He is a counselor at a school, a coach and also referees college games in Texas. Most of the items we likes were for cold weather. We did find something nice with short sleeves. I'm sure he is going to love it. Great bookstore. Nice items. Ten stars.

No, I have never bought books here but it is a decent store for other things. For years, our family bought a lot of tech items here, before the big box tech stores came to Boulder and before office supply stores expanded their stock. And before online shopping.
But if you are looking for CU logo gear, for yourself or for gifts, this is the place. Anything you could probably think of, at better prices than some of the Logo Gear websites out there. And you can actually get a better sense of sizing than using many of the inaccurate size charts I found online. I have looked at some of the commercial and touristy shops around Boulder, the "sports" retailers around Boulder and Flatiron Crossing and even "our favorite hardware store" but I could not find the size and color I needed for a gift. Boys grow up fast!
I found just what I needed, I got a good walk in on a nice day as there is no dedicated parking here. The Book Store is in the basement of the UMC so plan ahead. There are off campus options to park and walk or bus to the UMC if you are not a local. For an off season shopping time (NOT Back to School, NOT Football Season, NOT Christmas, NOT Graduation) I thought they had a decent amount of stock in a wide range of items. Next time I need something like this, I will just go here first.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 7, 2009First to Review
Not to be mistaken for the Colorado Book Store.
CU Bookstore is owned by the University, obviously since it's inside the UMC, unlike the Colorado Book Store which is on The Hill.
Most of the store has been renovated a few years ago when they built the new add on in the UMC. They have probably the most CU memorabilia you can find in Boulder. So it's definitely a good place to go to find souvenirs for your family or just CU stuff for you room.
They also will have all the books you will need for class there because your professors send them all their books that they will require you to buy that year.
F.Y.I., don't try to steal anything there. I used to work there, and their security team is awesome there, they catch a few people a DAY stealing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Chase T.Denver, CO05Jan 2, 2017
Avoid this place at all costs. Unfortunately for students and other customers, the CU Book Store is acutely aware of the fact that they have a captive customer base made up of tens of thousands of new students that attend CU every year. Consequently, the Book Store has little incentive to meet even the lowest of retail standards, and it certainly shows from upper management on down.
Much like some of the other reviews here, the final straw for me was a dispute over what Overnight Shipping means. In the CU Book Store universe, "overnight" or "next-day" shipping apparently means "whenever we feel like getting to it," despite a customer having paid triple for the service.
Even with the Book Store failing to meet my reasonable expectations--and notably, their own expectations set forth in their Store Policy--I would be quick to forgive them if they had shown any accountability whatsoever. Unfortunately, they took zero responsibility all the way up to the highest manager ("Assistant Director"), who opted to meet my request for a partial refund on shipping (the difference between overnight and standard shipping) with blatant sarcasm. The only positive thing about his response was that he acquiesced to my measly partial refund request. But--surprise, surprise--that refund was never processed as promised.
Simply put, the CU Book Store is an embarrassment to the University of Colorado. I support CU whenever and however I can, but I will exhaust every other option available to me before I ever use the official Book Store again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Samantha R.Eugene, OR02Jan 31, 2019
Had an issue in the clothing department that was somewhat on us, but Joe the customer service manager was willing to work with us and gave us very personal service. Thank you and looking forward shopping more at the bookstore!

This is the worst bookstore in the history of mankind. I think it's a monopoly that's run by the university. I have nothing against the university, but this operation needs to go. The customer service is horrible, and they have ridiculous return policies. You'd think you would be able to return a book in a longer time frame than 48 hours. But, that's their policy. I think it needs to be changed. It's time this bookstore starts helping out students instead of hurting them.

A great spot for your CU gear, but you can find better deals on Pearl or the Hill on CU gear. The staff is usually friendly and knowledgeable, and if you catch them having a sale its a great deal. I dont know why they sell starbucks and other sundries there considering you can buy that upstairs.

Although the staff has been very nice throughout my endeavors to the CU book store, my last experience has damaged that reputation completely. I was charged 200$ for a rental book with an apparent page that had "water damage". Not to mention I never opened the book once. They will absolutely look to take your non-existent college money and when I asked for a manager I was given the "they're busy excuse". I thought students looked out for other students? I was very disappointed and furious and will not waste my time or money there again.

You would think a college book store run by the college would be aimed at helping students successfully achieve their education. Well, that is not the case here. The CU bookstore (not the one on the hill, the one on campus) is in a constant attempt to scam you for your money. They recently started a nice new means of exploiting the poorer potion of the student body. They now allow you to rent textbooks instead of buying them. So, instead of paying $250 for a text book, you pay $230 dollars. How nice of them to give us the opportunity to save a few bucks. What they don't tell you is that if you buy it and sell it back to them at the end of the semester you'll make $65!!! Hence, you're saving more money buying textbooks and selling them back than buying into CU's great new program to save you money! On top of this, if you do a quick online search of any book they sell, you will find that they've tacked on another $20-$50 to the regular price! I really don't think the convenience of the store warrants such a mark up (especially since if you order them online they come straight to your front door).
So thank you CU, thank for looking out for your students and not sneakily exploiting them for their money.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jack H.Kenosha, WI011Jul 3, 2014
on my visit to the Cu campus yesterday July 2nd I happened upon the Cu bookstore. While shopping for items to collect as I do with lot of college campuses I came across employee named Jamie. She was very helpful and not only ringing my purchase up but also giving me information about things to see on campus. Her suggestion of having lunch on top of the roof to get a good view of the area and to go check out the new student Rec Center was perfect. I could not of asked for a better person to give me informationabout campus. As for the description of the store, one could easily navigated around the store and not get lost very bright very clean and very well kept is a beautiful opportunity to go in and for my first time I've ever seen Colorado University Boulder this was a really a crowning piece of to showcase what does college to do.my experience in Boulder was made that much better by having the opportunity to be on campus and see something that I never would have never seen before my life. I am so happy that I went to the student bookstore ,make my purchases ,met people ,had questions answered indeed these folks are just awesome!
