I think it's too small, and too expensive for what they're offering. I also don't like being badgered by personal trainer types. I work out at the Y, and pay less than a third of what they tried to charge me for a membership here. Consider other options.

They raised their prices and then cut their hours drastically. The locker rooms never get cleaned anymore. Machines are consistently out of order and not repaired. Even the barcode scanner thing to get you in the club doesn't work anymore and you have to stand in line to have your card scanned behind the counter.
In short a huge ripoff. WAY to expensive for what you get. You're better off going to the YMCA.
Sadly it's no longer open 24 hours. I just tried to go after midnight and the gate was locked.
It's pretty decent, especially off hours. The cardio machines have TVs, but there's always something a bit off with the ventilation back there (usually too warm). The locker rooms don't live up to the Crunch standard.
Crunch is a total rip off!!!! They are charging almost $100 a month now, up from the $60 I was paying just a little over a year ago.
I initially signed up because of it's location and the fact that it was open 24/7. The gym is only open from 5AM-Midnight now, despite a price hike.
To try and psych you into paying the enourmous membership costs, they will make it seem as if you are 2 days removed from the end of a "promotion" which would waive a ridiculously priced membership fee that doesn't even exist.
It's becoming increasingly evident that Crunch is trying to capitalize on the gentrification of the area. They don't offer any additional rates for those that cannot afford $90 a month. There are no limited access plans or student discounts.
Crunch was a little expensive at $60,.. at $90 it isn't even a thought for me. If you have $90 a month to spend on a gym membership, consider Bootcamp Fitness where you will be in an intense group workout. As for me, it's calistenics and outdoor jogging (and a monthly metrocard w/ that $90).

I just finished a 3 day trial here. I haven't been to any other Crunch gyms yet but this still is cuter than any NYSC's that I've been too... The yoga class I went to on a weekday afternoon was uber-crowded but really mellow and I still broke a sweat. The weight training class was tough--but thorough!
I've already quit NYSC and plan to sign up for Crunch, with a work discount membership even comes out cheaper while they offer a lot better classes (although the names are a little annoying --'circuit city', 'star treatment' 'virgin yoga'--retch retch) and more brooklyn locations.
I give Crunch double chocolate fudge brownie points for having 2 gyms within a short jog from my home with lots of pilates, yoga and weight training just the way I like it!

Fort Greene is the smallest crunch I have been to. (I haven't been to them all.)
Despite the size and subsequent crowdedness I still thoroughly enjoy this Crunch location. It is far more intimate than some of the midtown locations, and far less intimidating than the two at union square. It isn't multiple floors and laid out in a confusing fashion. Its small size lends to a more pleasant exercise experience. There is one main room for cardio, a large stretching area near the cardio machines, two smaller rooms on the same floor for weight machines, and a lower level for free weights. There is a yoga studio, a larger studio for classes, and a spin room.
Fort Greene crunch is cleaner than other locations as well. It doesn't leave me with a really sticky, gross feeling. I don't for instance, feel the need to immediately remove all my "contaminated" clothing, and I wouldn't have a problem stopping to get some groceries on my walk home first.
Maybe they're just newer than other locations, but they do wash yoga mats! This is wonderful and sanitary and makes me feel good.
Also, there are TVs on ALL cardio machines, they are open 24 hours, and even have babysitting if you need it.
I took off a star because it's hard to get a cardio machine and locker at peak hours.
