Years ago this was a depressing Holiday Inn.  Crowne Plaza has turned this into a gorgeous facility.

Hotel is clean, rooms are nice, bathroom seems newly remodeled. TV is a bit small for a hotel television set.

We checked-in at 9PM tonight. To say the least, I don't think I've ever had a less friendly, less inviting check-in at a 4 star hotel in my life. I understand that at 9PM the hotel staff might be tired, but still, not cool to be curt. We felt like we were somehow inconveniencing the staff just by showing up and asking some very basic questions.

I don't think I'd reserve a room here again after that initial experience.

Staying here right now for my little mini-vacation.
This place is on the top of the hill so it love looks the whole town and lake.
Im sure it's even nicer if you have a lake view room. (Im facing the back side).
It's just in the middle of town.  Walking distance onto the main street, and right next to the Olympic Centre.

They have the MOST BEAUITFUL LOUNGE!!

Real Fireplace (free Wifi).. so Im sitting here as we speak by the fire overlooking Mirror Lake and it's nice and cozy with a glass of wine.

I don't see any Cons for this place.
If you have have breakfast included, it's $14 for the buffet.  You may think it's a little pricy, however they have it all... and it's all you can eat so you can't go wrong.

Other places in this town to stay are little sketchy and this place isn't bad price wise.  $140 - for 2 nights (with breakfast).

SO sad to be leaving here tomorrow :(

    PRO'S:

NEXT DOOR to the Olympic Training Center

Spectacular views -- Grand "Great Room" to hang out in with bar, billiard table (coin operated), fireplace, outdoor seating up on the hill overlooking Mirror Lake

Walk down the *STEEP* hill and you're right at the start of downtown Main Street.

Free Trolley stop - arrives every 1/2 hour

    Nice big pool w/ spa

Many of the rooms have the same spectacular lake view

Two separate self-contained "cottages" in the back for those that want more privacy

    Free WiFi

Business center has two free pc's to use with free printer

Variety of room formats.  We had king w/ pull-out couch with lake view balcony.  Back room had king, pull out with gas fireplace (no balcony).  Suites available, cottage, etc.

Priceline carefully and you'll get a decent rate.

    CONS:

Pet-friendly hotel -- means you have no clue if the carpet in your room has been soaked with pee prior to your arrival!  And pet-friendly also means you'll hear dogs barking inside rooms when owners leave them unattended even though they aren't supposed to.  One woman came out of a room with FOUR dogs.

Breakfast buffet was underwhelming - better to try Downtown Diner or Sunshine Bagels or some other options out there.

TV's in the great room bar are small (19" TV?)

If you're walking "home" you'll have to take on the super-humungous-holy-cow-I've-been-walking-UP-for- awhile-it-seems-and-I-can't-believe-I'm-only-1/2-w ay-there-HILL from Main Street up to the hotel. (You'll remember this comment when you go and actually stay at this hotel)

Only one smaller wing of hotel is renovated -- you should ASK when you're making reservations to see if you are being booked in one of the newer rooms or not.

We stayed in the Tower Suite in the new wing of the hotel in Feb. 2007.  All five of us plus a 2-year old...and there was still plenty of room for more! Our suite had 1 bedroom with a huge tub and toilet, 1 bathroom, a huge livingroom with a queen size sofabed, queen size murphy bed, fireplace and a flat screen tv, a full kitchen, and a dining table.  We were able to see the Olympic ski jump from our livingroom! The hotel also has an indoor pool, a beautiful Great Room, and it's about 15 mins away from Whiteface.

This place is cozy and clean but it's a bit pricey and my cousin made the accomodations so I don't know what the customer service is like.  Ask for a room in the new wing and check for deals online especially ones that include lift tickets! Our stay came out to about $200 a person for 2 nights (without lift tickets).

Stayed here for the first time for a long Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  We were traveling with our 160# great dane and they welcomed him with open arms.  From the moment we checked in the staff was  great!  Very Courteous and accommodating.  On Thanksgiving we decided to have dinner in the hotel since they were having a buffet.  Their selection was great and the food, fantastic.  The common areas of the hotel were very cozy and clean.  The rooms were spacious and also very clean.  I would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area.

as usual the unlucky family made plans to get away for a few days at the last possible minute. (the night before) and since things are never simple in our entropy filled household, we added our lovely dog to the list of would be guests. we chose this place because:
    a) they are "pet friendly."
    b) they accept points (priority club) and this gave us 2 free nights.
my first thought was resort, reshmort. snort. the rooms were acceptable, but actually i think your everyday holiday inn express has nicer rooms.
the good: great views of everything including the fourth of july fireworks!
-the staff is very helpful and accommodating.
-the indoor pool is nice, the lobby and great room are attractive.
-it's a short walk to the hustle and bustle of main street and mirror lake.
    the bad:
it's pet friendly but not  pet logical. who left that little bag of dog poop on a ledge? that would be me. (i won't blame it on the seamonkeys) yes the first time i walked teddy i circled the grounds looking for a trash receptacle. after a long search, i found one in the back next to the laundry room. the 2nd time that rubbish bin was nowhere to be found, which naturally produced a dilemma.  woe is me! the quandaries life presents! so i gift wrapped it and put it on the ledge. well you get the picture.
-the walk from town to the hotel is a steep climb uphill.
    the very very ugly:
-no 24 hour coffee available in the lobby. and the typical 2 packages of inferior java, one decaf, no tea, did not do the trick alas. also why do most hotels, including this one, give you 2 measly packets of sucrose?
i'm not diabetic for goodness sake! stop this sugar rationing please!
(they do give you coupons to get free coffee or tea-but i found this to be a bit of a nuisance)

i can't speak for the lodging, as I live locally.  but, as far as wedding sites go, this place is second to none!  the Golf Club House has the best view of the Adirondacks!!
