Very friendly staff.
Good location to Rittenhouse Square and shopping.
Good location for conventions that doesn't require you running into everybody from the convention.
Some of my fellow guest felt that it was appropriate to run up and down the hallways at 3 am.  I called the hotel and asked them to put an end to that and they did.
Room service ends at 11 pm and the breakfast selection ends at 11 am.
The fitness room, rather weak.

Spent three nights here last week, and enjoyed the accommodations for the most part, though it wasn't without some issues.

PROS:
Clean rooms, very friendly staff; linens smelled and felt fresh.
Rates were very fair.
Close proximity to public transit.

CONS:
It is a very corporate retreat, sorority & fraternity-reunion friendly hotel, so you might find yourself on a floor with somewhat "boisterous" guests.
The fitness room seems an afterthought, though apparently guests have access to the Philly Sports Club diagonal from the hotel. Didn't learn this until I was actually in the fitness area, and wasn't able to take advantage.
The elevators open into the lobby via a hallway shared with the restaurant next door, so if it's in the evening, expect to be a bit startled by the roaring din of the patrons.
Room amenities need to be updated. No DVD players, but there is access to a Gamecube for $6.99 an hour.
While the bed itself was comfortable, the pillows are very small and conform to the head in a very strange, almost gelatinous manner.

In future visits, I'll try different hotels before making this my go-to place.

Good location for food, drink and sightseeting in Philly!

I was happily surprised with my stay here!  I chose the location for a conference that I was hosting - I tend to go a bit higher end for this purpose, but the location was good and the price was reasonable for my meeting which was helpful in this economy!

The good stuff:
Sleeping rooms were a nice size, numerous elevators were convenient, the Elephant & Castle Restaurant attached was a good spot for end of the evening chats and reasonably priced (and decent) drinks.  The customer service was great - especially for meeting functions - both the sales team and catering team and AV crew were super helpful and responsive!  Great location close to Rittenhouse Square, lots of great dining, and within decent walking distance of Independence Hall etc.

The not-so-good stuff -
The bathrooms are abysmally small - be careful to move your foot closing the door so as not to take off a toenail!
Beds - meh....initially comfortable....get harder as the night goes on, but not terrible...I tend to have aches here and there (since I am over 30 by some margin),  so may be a bit more critical than others on this.  Our room had terrible internet access, but others who were staying here seemed to be fine...all I can say is I had a problem, but not sure if it was just my room.

Overall, though, I was quite happy with the hotel and location.

Functional info:
Internet is free, parking is $33 per day, Shuttle is $10 PP and a cab ride is about $25-$30 from PHL.

Thin walls...double beds not queens...tiny bathroom, low ceiling...noisy football team with girls next door...old decor, rough sheets...not impressed.  Bad valet service to boot.  The only thing I found good about this hotel was the location.

I had to stay here for two nights - they put me in a smoking room because they were at capacity.  Bleh.  Also - there is always a wait at the front desk to check in - I noticed that this was always the case.

The rooms are small.  The beds are low and not very comfortable.  Room service is normal.  This hotel is older than some of the nearby hotels and things just look and feel old and kind of icky.

However, since this was my one and only experience with the Crowne Plaza, I wouldn't rule it out as an option.  The staff is very friendly and helpful and I think that they do try to do what they can to make your stay comfortable.

I stayed here with two friends for one night.  I got a great price through http://Hotwire.com - only $96 for the night, including all taxes and fees.  Without Hotwire, prices range from $150-$200 a night.  I was happy with my price.  There is a garage for parking ($33 for the day for hotel guests) and a restaurant, Elephant and Castle Pub.  The hotel is nice, not grand.  It is definitely well maintained and clean.  Hotwire gives it 3.5 stars and it lived up to this.  If you like sleeping paraphernalia, Crowne Plaza hotels give you ear buds, lavender linen spray, a natural sound CD, and a few other things to improve your sleep.

I requested one room with two double beds and was notified two days before that my reservation was confirmed.  When I arrived at noon, all rooms with double beds were sold out.  OK, didn't I reserve one myself?  They apologized and gave us a room with a king and a roll-away cot; however, the first one was too small for the cot (fire hazard) and we were given a second, but not until well later in the afternoon.  I was not pleased with this, but I wasn't in the mood for stirring up drama.  The room was nice and I still got a great price.  Before checkout, they tried to charge me $25 dollars for the roll-away cot, which wasn't very comfortable.  Obviously, the right hand doesn't know what the left it doing.  I called and had this taken care of - it was removed from my bill.  Overall, I was pleased with my stay.  Not the best hotel experience I've had, but ok for the price.

Their 7-layers of sleep program is amazing.  I usually have a rough time getting a good night sleep, but have never had issues when I've stayed here.

The staff at this location is very helpful.  When we had issues with our "neighbors" being loud, the front desk immediately got us into another room no problem.

The location is great.  It's easy to walk to the historical sites or the train if you want to go to another part of town.   I would definitely stay here again and recommend others to check it out if they're in Philadelphia overnight.

I got a great deal with the place doing the name your own price feature at Priceline. Usually I believe the rooms are $240-270 but I got a room for $120/night during mid October for 3 nights. Not bad at all.

The hotel is set up like every other hotel I've ever been to the only difference is they go the extra step in a couple small things here and there. For example they have 4 pillows on each bed and every one is very different and you can cycle through them and find the one you like the most. The beds and linens are very soft and ultra comforable and if you're still not comfortable they provide relaxing sleep CDs in every room.

They give you a free USA Today paper every morning and although I wouldn't do it, room service is available. My only two issues with my experience here was that the elevators were being worked on and we had our elevator do some crazy stops and going of the wrong way a couple times and I wish there was a fridge in the room so I could have kept some water or something.

Also I wish a hotel would figure out how to stop having the ugliest green lights next to every mirror (specifically mirror above the sink).

Overall I had a very comfortable stay without any issues and there was nothing really to complain about at all. This Crowne Plaza is walking distance from everything in Philadelphia and even houses it's own parking garage in case you came via car.

My company booked me here for training this week, and while the rooms were ok for a 3-Star I found that the hotel a bit under-maintained.  For example, I don't think they did a really good job cleaning the bathroom as I found "errant" hairs around the bathtub and floor.  If you are here for a personal visit, it is probably ok.  But I had to knock it down to two stars because if you are here for business it is completely inadequate, because the "High Speed" Internet is slower than dial up.  Not to mention  they are doing maintenance work on the elevators and I have to factor a 10 minute wait for an elevator into my morning commute (I am seriously not joking).

I will say there are a few positives, they have an Elephant and Castle Pub on site with a good selection of beers.  It is centrally located to a lot of things, including the very cool Comcast Center and City Hall.  There is a rooftop pool which looked nice (I didn't get to use it because we were busy with work).  And, the sheets are clean (which to be honest is one of the most important things to me).  But overall, I can't really give it in good faith more than 2 stars.

I read another reviewer's post about the sleep package, but they didn't offer it to me, so I am not sure if they still do that anymore.  Would be neat if they did.

Stayed here during April which was too early to use the outdoor pool.  Still the rooms were nice and the staff were friendly.  Also, it is not difficult to use the pool even if you are not a guest here...

I got a good deal here through Hotwire for July Fourth weekend. The room was a comfortable size, with a really nice bathroom. The service was good, and it's pretty sweet having a decent bar in the lobby.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a total of four nights, and it is a basic, upper-medium place to stay. It is pretty centrally located (I was able to walk most of the city in a day), across the street from a Starbucks (for all you fans) and several great local street-food vendors (gotta have an authentic Philly pretzel!!!!). The staff is accomodating and helpful, and they go out of their way (upgraded bed linens, sleep package) to make sure you grab a good night's sleep with them. I would absolutely stay here again.

I stayed here during a conference after Loew's and the Marriott were booked up. The place isn't grand, but the hotel rooms are nice and spacious. Bed linens are decent, and they give you a nice extra package to help you sleep including CD, sleep shades, earplugs and linen spray. Although I certainly didn't need it. It was nice and quiet. It is centrally located right by the train and city hall.
